Help with TCP out-of-order packets Wireshark capture

Hello everyone,  we have a bit of an odd issue. Can you take a look at the attached capture file and tell me what's broken? Please change the file extension from .txt to .pcapng and open with Wireshark.
We have a major issue where clients cannot retrieve data from the server at 10.10.7.27.
Server is behind the firewall at 172.18.123.4 which is configured to NAT the traffic coming through.
Please advise.

It's actually from anywhere.  The DNS resolves the website address to a global address.  So regardless of the source (inside or out), you hit the firewall and get routed to 10.10.7.0 network.  The firewall's LAN interface shares the same VLAN as the DMVPN head-end router's LAN interface.  From the DMVPN head-end router, it goes over the DMVPN cloud (i.e. back over the internet) to our office in Florida where this site is being hosted.
The capture I grabbed was by SPAN port between the two LAN interfaces showing transactions between the firewall's LAN interface and the server's IP address on the 10.10.7.0 subnet.
Site uses HTTPS and we have other servers in the same subnet (10.10.7.0) that are accessible in the same manner.  I did SPAN the ports for another webserver and did see a lot of TCP OOO and re-transmissions however not as bad as this one.
I do have a theory, please feel free to correct me.  Request comes in on the WAN interface, gets NATed by the firewall and sent to the DMVPN router, router encrypts the packet and places it on the wire, once the remote DMVPN peer receives the packet, it decrypts it and then sends it out it's DMZ interface connected to another application firewall. This firewall checks the packet and then sends it to the web server hosting the content.  The process is reversed for reply traffic. On top of all this, the content is served over HTTPS therefore more encryption/decryption. This seems like too much handling of the packet to me?  When the source computer sends a request, it simply times out or spends too much time within our own network causing the source to resend the request?

  • TCP out of order packets

    Hi,
    We are getting TCP out of error packets while sending requests to outside. Though we can access the internet and also connectivity is fine. But some of the application is not working due to this error, specially TCP based application as on the remote side they are not accepting two requests from our network. That means two requests are going from our network with each of the request sent to outside network.
    We have 4-5 vlans and intervlan routing is configured. Could somebody pls. let me know the reason of this and how can I solve this problem?
    Thanks,
    Pawan

    Good mornning.
    We have many application similar to the case you have explained.
    Our links use satelite connection and the delayare between: 600 msec to 1000 msec.
    Delays over 1000 msec generates delay and connectivitiy problems with tcp applications.
    What is the delay between your endpoints ?
    Do you have access to internet router ? so can you tell us if there are packets drops in the interfaces ?

  • ACE Dup ACK and TCP Out-of-order

    Hi,
    I have a pair of FT ACE 4710 offloading https traffic to a couple of webservers. We are seeing very high network utilisation when I capture the client facing port of the active ACE. There appears to alot of duplicate ACKs and TCP out-of-order packets (as shown by wireshark). Does anyone know if this is a problem with the ACE or "normal"
    Thanks

    I've seen some similar behaviour with the ACE Module and Apache webservers. To mitigate this I've configured the following which seems to work.
    On the ACE Module
    parameter-map type http ALL-HEADERS
      persistence-rebalance
    parameter-map type connection TCP-OPTIONS
      set tcp syn-retry 5
      tcp-options timestamp allow
    policy-map multi-match test-policy
      class http-vip
        loadbalance vip inservice
        loadbalance policy http-test-pm
        loadbalance vip icmp-reply active
        appl-parameter http advanced-options ALL-HEADERS
        connection advanced-options TCP-OPTIONS
    On Apache here are the two test results with keepalive on and off
    httpd.conf
    KeepAlive Off
    MaxKeepAliveRequests 1024
    KeepAliveTimeout 30

  • TCP out-of-order at IPS

    Dear All,
    We have a setup the IPS 4510 working inline mode with strict inspection turn on. we have detected some latency issue accessing the internal website. So we did some capture at the IPS interface. We found that there's a lot of out-of-order packet and DUP ACK detected by IPS which causing the normalizer engine buffer full and could not handle anymore request. As a work around we put the IPS in asymmetric mode where it turn off the IPS normalizer engine.
    I need some opinion on possibilities why the Out of order and DUP ACK happen.
    We are seeing quite a lot of Out-of-order, DUP ACK and TCP zero window in TCP stream that we captured.
    The topology is quite straight forward:
    Internet ----WAN ROUTER ----- IPS4510 ----- ASA ----- Web server
    There's no redundancy or load balance for the ASA or WANROUTER.
    Im hoping for some opinion and idea on how to tackle this issue.
    Thank you very much

    Hi
    bumping out an old thread since the issue still on going.
    I already discussed with TAC regarding the issue and 2 option that she gave
    + asymmetric mode (Which we rejected as permanent solution)
    + Event action filter
    I'm currently looking at this solution and plan to implement it in the IPS.
    I need to consider a few things and also suggestion
    + The signature engine involve is Normalizer engine (specifically sig 1330)
    + is it possible to customize this signature or should we just go for Event action filter?
    need opinion and pro and cons of this.
    Thanks a bunch

  • Out of order packets via LWAPP?

    I am capturing packets on a wireless client ftp'ing a file from a server. It's showing that there are a lot of out of order packets. Although, the file received is fine, I'm worried that it'll affect voice packets later on. I'm using Wism with Lightweight APs. I tested using autonomous AP to tranfer the file from the same server--> No problems. Any ideas why this is? Is it some thing I mis-configure on the WLC?
    Thanks

  • Strange out of order packet issue

    Not sure if this is the proper place to ask this or not, but I have an odd issue with a VM (really multiple VMs but they all do the same thing).  The VMs run RHEL 6.5 and spool a print job to a printer at the far end of a WAN connection.  The printer doesn't handle out of order packets correctly and ultimately just waits for the OS to decide it should resend things and restart.  This causes major delays in the print job.  The app was migrated from a RHEL5.10 physical system to the VM where the problem started.  The printer vendor has admitted a problem in the way they handle out of order packets but isn't fixing it in the printer(s) we have.  When the app was on RHEL5/physical system the problem did not occur.  At least, it wasn't severe enough for us to look really deep into.  The application team wants to move back to RHEL5/physical until the problem is resolved but I am reluctant to do that because it effectively means they won't migrate into a VM for another 1-2 years.
    I think a previously existing problem is being made worse by the VMware layer, but don't know what I can do about it.  We run the Nexus 1000V with LACP back to redundant Nexus 7000's before the connection routes to the WAN circuit.  I have been told the problem can be reproduced without going thru the WAN, and we have tried using the VSS on a separate pair of cables, but it didn't help.  Can anyone think of anything that I can check or tweak to make things easier for my end users?  I really don't want to move back to physical.  It makes so many processes 10x more difficult.
    We are running ESXi 5.5u2 with vSphere 5.5u2 on IBM 3850m3 servers.  They aren't memory, CPU, or disk constrained at all as far as anyone can tell, and the network from the box isn't saturated or that busy at all.
    Thanks.
    Tom

    Thanks.  I had seen something on that earlier but hadn't looked into it.  I made the change on one of our problem children, so we'll see what happens now.
    Is that persistent across reboots or is there some file I need to change as well?

  • ACE duplicate ack and tcp out-of-order errors

    Hi,
    I have just performed a capture using a NAM in my 6500 on the port attached to my ACE appliance.
    What i have noticed in the capture is a lot of duplicate ack errors and tcp out-of-sync errors.
    The reason we found this was becuase the link utilisation per session seems higher than we expected, hence are the errors adding to this and is there any way to remedy them?
    Thanks
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
    I'm not sure why you would see duplicate packets, although when you use SPAN, I know you can see them when you configure it to capture both directions on a VLAN.  This is because you see each packet as it enters and leaves the VLAN.  I don't know if that would apply to a NAM.
    One thing you could do is use the ACE 4710's built-in capture utility to see if you see the same symptoms from an alternative source.  This is covered in the Capturing Packet Information section of the configuration guides.
    Hope this helps,
    Sean

  • Can anyone help with an out of memory error on CS2?

    Hello,
    I have been battling with an out of memory error on a dell laptop running 2gb of ram. I have had no prior issues with this laptop running CS2 until last week when I started getting the out of memory errors. I have seen several articles about this occuring on later versions of illustrator. Just prior to this issue appearing I had to delete and rebuild the main user profile on the computer due to it consistently logging into a temporary account.
    Once the new profile was established and all user documents and profile settings were transferred back into it, this problem started showing up. The error occurs when clicking on files listed as Illustrator files, and when opening the illustrator suite. Once I click on the out of memory error it still continues to load illustrator. The files are located on a server and not on the remote computer. I have tried to copy the files to the local hard drive with the same result when I try to open them. I also tried to change the extension to .pdf and got no further. I tried to open a file and recreate the work and all I got was the black outline of the fonts. none of the other artwork appeared. once rebuilt, when trying to save, It gives the out of memory error and does not save the file.
    Illustrator was installed on another dell laptop, same model, etc and works fine. no problem accessing network files. I just attempted to use Illustrator from the admin profile on the machine in question and it works fine and lightening fast. Just not from the new rebuilt profile. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the software. it has not helped. could there be stray configuration settings that we transfered over to the new profile that should not have been?
    Any insights will be helpful.
    Thank You,

  • Help with validation of service order creation

    Dear All,
    I am working with creation of service order under service professional and got a requirement where
    1) I need to validate the quantity from BOM table comm_il_momitm. and
    2) Same product (product id) should not be called more than once, that is if the user selects same product once again it must throw an error.
    Please find the screenshot below
    Regards,
    Naveenn

    Hi Benoit,
    I give you my exact requirement,
    i need to validate quantity field entry (in above table) based on compon_qty field in comm_il_bomitm table.
    I tried to implement it using eh_onsave method in component BT116H_SRVO but it is displaying error message even the quantity is equal the compon_qty whereas it should display error only when it exceeds compon_qty.
    Please help by providing sample code.

  • StoredProcedureCall with IN OUT Parameters order in Stored Procedure

    Refer to the Toplink documentID:Note 224269.1 - Using IN, OUT and INOUT parameters with StoreProcedureCall. This document can be download from OracleMetaLink:
    http://www.oracle.com/support/metalink/index.html
    I followed the sample code in this document to write a test case for one of complicated PL/SQL codes. The test case showed wrong results for IN/OUT and OUT parameters.
    At the end of the document above, I found this paragraph
    " Check the ordering of the arguments to make sure that they are in the following sequence:
    All 'IN' parameters, All 'OUT' parameters and then all 'INOUT' parameters.
    Your stored procedure must be set up the same way, since this is how values will be passed to it. This is the way in which TopLink stored procedure calls have been designed and implemented. "
    The order of our PL/SQL codes is IN, IN/OUT and OUT. We are not allowed to change our PL/SQL codes because they are currently used in production environment. We do not want to create another versions of PL/SQL codes to comply with IN, OUT, IN/OUT parameter order mentioned above.
    Do you have any work around solution?

    I tried a simple example using named parameters and it worked in 9.0.4:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE
    "TEST_904"."STOREDPROCEDURE_INOUT_OUT_IN" (
         P_INOUT IN OUT NUMBER,
         P_OUT OUT NUMBER,
         P_IN NUMBER) AS
    BEGIN
    P_OUT := P_INOUT;
    P_INOUT := P_IN;
    END;
    public void storedProcedureOutInoutInTest() {
         System.out.println("storedProcedureOutInoutInTest");
        StoredProcedureCall call = new StoredProcedureCall();
        call.setProcedureName("STOREDPROCEDURE_INOUT_OUT_IN");
        call.addNamedArgument("P_IN");
        call.addNamedOutputArgument("P_OUT", "P_OUT", Integer.class);
        call.addNamedInOutputArgument("P_INOUT", "P_INOUT", "P_INOUT", Integer.class);
        call.setUsesBinding(true);
        DataReadQuery query = new DataReadQuery();
        query.setCall(call);
        query.addArgument("P_IN");
        query.addArgument("P_INOUT");
        Vector args = new Vector(2);
        args.add(new Integer(1));
        args.add(new Integer(2));
        Object result =  session.executeQuery(query, args);
        Map map = (Map)((Vector)result).firstElement();
        Integer result_p_inout = (Integer)map.get("P_INOUT");
        Integer result_p_out = (Integer)map.get("P_OUT");
         System.out.println("P_INOUT = " +  result_p_inout);
         System.out.println("P_OUT = " +  result_p_out);

  • Need help with an Outer Join

    I have the following query which has an outer join and it works perfectly and shows publication paragraph which don't have any maintenance records with a value of 0.
    However when I add to the where clause conditions such as lpm.fac_ident and lpm.start_date, the null values no longer show up in the query(see second SQL statement).
    I am new at SQL and am just trying to make this outer join work. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,

    Regards,Forgive the ASCII art, but your query looks like:
    ----------  JOIN ----------
    | Alias M | ====> | Alias L |
    | Alias PM |
    ----------- The table pm_requirements_table is not joined at all. Unless it has only a single row, then your resultset will have 1 row for each row in lpm_paragraph_mapping_table (because of the outer join) times the number of rows in pm_requirements_table. Consider this simplified example.
    SQL> select * from t;
            ID DESCR
             1 T 1
             2 T 2
    SQL> select * from t1;
            ID DESCR
             1 T1 1
             2 T1 2
             3 T1 3
             4 T1 4
    SQL> select 1.id, t.descr, t1.descr
      2  from t, t1;
            ID DESCR      DESCR
             1 T 1        T1 1
             1 T 1        T1 2
             1 T 1        T1 3
             1 T 1        T1 4
             1 T 2        T1 1
             1 T 2        T1 2
             1 T 2        T1 3
             1 T 2        T1 4Here, my table t is the result from your join between lpm_paragraph_mapping_table and lpm. My table t1 is your pm_requirements_table. You need something more like:
    SQL> select 1.id, t.descr, t1.descr
      2  from t, t1
      3  where t.id = t1.id;
            ID DESCR      DESCR
             1 T 1        T1 1
             1 T 2        T1 2Assuming you fix that join, you can use a sub-query to apply the predicates to the lpm as Centinul showed, or, if you are on a current version of Oracle, use ANSI join syntax wich would look something like:
    SELECT m.publication_paragraph, pm.description, pm.frequency,
            count(l.publication_paragraph) ACTIVITIES_PERFORMED
    FROM lpm_paragraph_mapping_table m,
       LEFT JOIN lpm l,
          ON m.paragraph_alias_mapping = l.publication_paragraph and
             l.fac_ident = 'EWR' AND
             TO_CHAR(l.start_date, 'YYYY') = '2010'
       JOIN pm_requirements_table pm
          on something
    GROUP BY m.publication_paragraph, pm.description, pm.frequency
    ORDER BY count(l.publication_paragraph);Leaving aside the missing join, the reason why your query as posted does not work is that when there is not a match on m.paragraph_alias_mapping = l.publication_paragraph Oracle will "make up" rows form lpm with all null columns for each row in lpm_paragraph_mapping_table where there is no match. So, when you compare those made up rows from lpm, you are effectively saying where NULL = 'EWR' and TO_CHAR(NULL, 'yyyy') = '2010'. Null is never equal to anything. Any comparision against null is unknown, so the made up rows get filtered out by your predicate.

  • Help with printing out Speakable Items folder(s)

    I have a visually impaired family member who would like to learn how to use spoken commands on her iMac.
    I have not been able to find a way to print out the "Speakable Items" folder(s) in order for us to let her know what exactly she can say; it is not at all feasible for her to read it from the screen.
    It's very, very frustrating for everyone to have the Speakable Items feature available, and not be able to use it properly!

    Thanks Niel!
    Having it printed out in the way you suggested helped me.  To make the text large enough for the person with visual impairment to "see", I also resorted to actually typing them out in Pages and making it about 72pt;  I had to print it out so that they can hold the paper right up to their face.

  • Help with the Oracle Fusion Order Demo deployment to Weblogic Server

    Hello all,
    I am new to SOA and am in the process of understanding SOA concepts. I am trying to deploy the Fusion Order Demo sample application to the Weblogic server. I am following the instructions given at : [http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/bulldog/deploysoaapp/deployment.htm|http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/bulldog/deploysoaapp/deployment.htm] .
    I am getting error when running the ant task "server-setup-seed-deploy-test" which deploys the Composite applications to the Weblogic Server. The ant log is pasted at the end of the post. The only difference i found from the instructions is that i do not have a AS11gR1SOA directory in my MW_HOME. Instead i have Oracle_SOA1 and i gave that directory's path for the parameter "soa.server.oracle.home".
    I tried running the sub tasks in the "server-setup-seed-deploy-test" individually and only the last task "test-fod-composite-end2end" failed. Since the other tasks like "compile-deploy-all" were successfull, I tried to see the deployed applications in the soa domain. When i checked the soa domain in the Weblogic server console, I see only the "B2BX12OrderGateway" under the soa-infra. The OrderBookingComposite and others are not deployed.
    Please help me in fixing this. Hope I have explained the problem correctly.
    Thanks in advance
    Nishan

  • Help with TCP/IP communication via Teststand and Labview

    Hello,
    I am trying to create a sequence of tests and need to communicate between LabView vi's and another program over a TCP connection. When I have the sequence hard coded in LabView everything works fine, but my goal is to break up the sequence into steps and execute it in Teststand. Currently, the working LabView code sets up a listener, and the other program establishes the connection. Once the connection is established, I use the Read/Write to TCP blocks for the programs to send messages back and forth.
    What I first tried in Teststand is to create a simple vi under Setup, that creates the listener, then the user is prompted to run the script on the other program to establish the connection. On the vi, I clicked on "create -> indicator" for the connection ID, then wired it as an output intending to use it in other vi's in the main part of the sequence.
    The main (and very strange) problem is that TestStand will crash before I even get a chance to execute the sequence. Starting with a blank sequence, I open up an "Action," then "Browse for vi" on the Module tab and once I select that simple vi mentioned above, Teststand crashes before it's even loaded properly. A screenshot of the error, the error report (which mentions that the problem is with seqedit.exe), as well as the vi in question is attached.
    This crash happens every single time I try to load the vi into the sequence. It seems to load ok on our NI machine running Windows XP, but it keeps on crashing on my pc (also running XP, i5 processor 1.85Gb RAM).
    Is the problem with the LabView code, Teststand or my pc? I've tried re-installing Teststand but to no avail.
    Any help is appreciated, and thank you in advance,
    Sorin

    Sorin,
    It looks like you are using TS 4.2.1 with LV 2010. Can you please check if you have the following patchs installed on your machine
    - http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/7D728B70F167CE088625776E00582C7B?OpenDocument
    You will need to install both the TS 4.2.1 and LV 2010 F2 patch.

  • Help with "greyed out" option for Publishing a group of Parameters in Motion 5!

    How do you group published parameters in Motion 5, so that you don't have one giant list of published options for Final Cut Pro X?
    My main goal is To publish a compound parameter (a parameter with nested subparameters)
    Looking through Motion Help, it should be as easy as clicking the little disclosure triangle on the right of the inspector, but the word "Publish" is greyed out...

    I know I've looked at rigging, but based off the Motion Help Online Manual, It should be as simple as clicking on the option for publish and have nested subparameters...
    Rigging is excellent, but more steps would be needed to do the same thing i believe...
