Help with UCCX 8.5 scripting and xmls
I have a customer with multiple scripts, we are moving them from 3.5 to 8.5 which is running on VMWare. Here's my scenario:
The caller can call the trigger 54779, enter a #, then a password of 12345. Then they can set a normal condition by dialing 1, an after-hours condition by dialing 2, or an emergency condition by dialing 3. I’m testing the “2” condition now. In the previous 3.5 system, if they dialed 2, the system copied the Doc “2.xml” and copied it to the Doc "Carolina_Access_Emergency_Check.xml", both of which are in the en_US folder in the Documents section.
I can’t get this thing to change my document "Carolina_Access_Emergency_Check.xml". All I know is that it goes, “unsuccessful”. I’m pretty sure the authentication is working since it gets by that step. If we can’t get the “copy” to work, really all I need to do with this option 2, is for the data in "Carolina_Access_Emergency_Check.xml" in <TYPE>1</TYPE> to change from a 1 to a 2." I'm attaching a zip with the old and new scripts along with the 2 xml files i'm referring to. I need help on this one, please!
Has the user you setup have Application Admin rights? I had this issue when I was trying to create an Emergency shutdown script and the user did not have sufficient rights.
I don't mind sharing this script I created ,which effectively changes a value from 1 to a 2, which seems to be what you are trying to do but I can not figure out how to share it with you here. You could then use this as example to achieve what you are trying to do.

Help with if statement in cursor and for loop to get output
I have the following cursor and and want to use if else statement to get the output. The cursor is working fine. What i need help with is how to use and if else statement to only get the folderrsn that have not been updated in the last 30 days. If you look at the talbe below my select statement is showing folderrs 291631 was updated only 4 days ago and folderrsn 322160 was also updated 4 days ago.
I do not want these two to appear in my result set. So i need to use if else so that my result only shows all folderrsn that havenot been updated in the last 30 days.

How do I incorporate a if else statement in the above cursor so the two days less than 30 days since last update are not returned. I do not want to send email if the project have been updated within the last 30 days.

As your notebook is a business class machine, security is more stringent - the password is stored in non-volatile memory and there are no 'backdoor' passwords. Your best option would be to contact HP regarding this.

Help with Flex based popup windows and data population.
Hello, I need a bit of help with Flex popups. I have a flex
application that uses a popup window when you click on a button and
displays information about the image above the button the user
clicked. I have about 4 images and I need to be able to display

What I want to do is either be able to create a popup file
for each button and photo, or find a way to pass a name like a
button ID that corresponds to a XML data structure and then
provides the appropriate data for the photo. I have tried altering
the first page of code with the "public" declaration to allow for a
second popup file for each button and image, but the IDE won't
allow me to do such because it creates errors stating I can only
have one public declaration of the kind and function above per
application. Help resolving this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.I have an idea of what I want to do. I am just having
difficulty articulating how to go about such. I know I want to find
a way so that if a user clicks on button 1, button 1 will send some
kind of variable. For example, a user clicks Btn1 under a picture.
Btn1 sends some kind of variable or binding to a data structure
which returns the picture's description, price, etc. and calls the
popup to display that data in a form like manner. Then the user
click Btn2 which does the same thing. The only purpose of the popup
is to display the data.
Do I create a data structure with a related name to say a
button name so when the btn is clicked, the a variable title btn1
will prepend itself to the data structure like
{btn1.imagename}
{btn1.price}
{btn1.description}.
I want each btn to call a different set of data about each
picture because right now, the code I have is allowing me multiple
buttons, but is just displays the popup. Is there a way to create a
separate popup window for each button? Thats seems as though it

I downloaded Firefox 4.0 replacing an earlier Firefox version. I have XP on my computer. When I now click on the Firefox icon after a time a window saying Unresponsive script and underneath script chrome etc comes up. I then press stop script and another window comes up Java Script application and type error. Eventually I get on to the internet but it's all very frustrating. I wish I had ignored the request to download 4.0
Please helpI can assure you that the sympton is indeed identical. For as the computer got worse, eventually it refused to start up and made 3 beeps. It has done this before, but today more times than before (just like when it first had this problem). Where-ever you go on the internet, it will tell you that the 3 beeps suggest the RAM is at fault. So, the same 3 beeps, means the same problem, which is the RAM.
With that in mind, I re-ask my question with the same reasoning and justification; am I still covered under warranty? (Reasoning/Justification: Considering the original problem was not entirely fixed, though something else was to make the MacBook Pro last a little longer before the reoccurance of this problem). -

I haven't reach the point where it compiles. It failes to download the file. Oddly, when I type:
wget http://heanet.dl.sourceforge.net/source … .60.tar.gz
it downloads fine. When running makepkg, the contents of ./src/fpm-0.60.tar.gz is some kind of web page.
I have eyeballed this PKGBUILD script for a while and I can't see any problems. Is there something special about sourceforge files? I feel that I must have a typo because makepkg is using wget, which works by hand.

I installed kedpm with my first working PKGBUILD script. I was able to import my "fpm" password file. Once I get my gnucash stuff transfered into grisbi, I will be able to switch my main machine completely to archlinux.
I know it is trivial for you guys, but here is my script -- it might save you some typing.

Fred.I already tried that...my test file was around 60kb with the "Print as PDF" and 104kb using the "Save as PDF" and then Optimizing....
I'm mostly doing the exporting to PDF on the Windows machine and I tested my script in Windows as well...
Am I just formatting it wrong?
It tells me:
"Error 1242: Illegal argument - argument 1 - Object Expected

and just before that I had a couple of "Constructor" errors...in the "Adobe Illustrator Scripting Guide" it was saying that:
"The following objects must be created explicitly:
Illustrator save options
PDF save options
PPD file
PPD file info
printer
print flattener options
print job options
print options"
What exactly do they mean? I created the objects like so: "object = new object();"
It also mentionned a "var object = app.document[0].add();" Those are to create paths and shapes if I'm not mistaken (ActionScript background).
Hopefully I'll find a way around this...
P.S: how much slower would an Action be? And could an action be "transformed" into a Script?

Could some kind soul please help me a bit with some applescript?
I would need two things in applescript:
1. A way to check whether a certain external (firewire) disk is mounted
(so that I can unount, er, eject it, if it is there)
2. A way to make an applescript being executed whenever the laptop goes to sleep.
For the interested reader:
what I want to do is to write an applescript that would automatically unmount my external backup disk whenever the laptop goes to sleep.
Oftentimes I forget to do that myself, then, when the computer is asleep and I want to unplug everything to take it home, I remember that I haven't properly ejected the backup disk ...
Any hints, pointers, tips will be appreciated!

If you have a script using "sudo", it will always prompt for a password. The easy way to call this is put your script in /Library/Resources/Scripts/ (you'll have to create the Resources/Scripts/ path) and follow these steps.
Step 1.) Edit your script and take out the "sudo" commands, leaving the following:
rm -rf ~/Library/Caches*
ln -s /private/tmp ~/Library/Caches*
Step 2.) Then open up Terminal and execute the following commands:
chown root:wheel /Library/Resources/Scripts/NameOfYourScript.sh
chmod 755 /Library/Resources/Scripts/NameOfYourScript.sh
Now create your login hook to call this script. If I'm correct, the script will run as root and not prompt the student for a password. -

Trying to display "$ifconfig en0" shell results into a text box.
Here is what I'm doing:

I have no clue what I'm doing wrong.It looks like you are trying to use *AppleScript Studio* syntax in an AppleScriptObjectiveC project - the way you connect the user interface items to your script is different in the new framework. If you are creating a new ASOC project, take a look at MacScripter's entry level tutorial AppleScriptObjC in Xcode for some examples.

Need some help with Slow Downs in Java3D and Servlets

You calculated the time elapsed before sending in a server request - and at that point you have you updated timeLastStateChange yet, which means by the time of the next calculation of time elapsed this apparent delay is not counted in, hence the slow down in animation rate.

I'm in need of a applescript that will run two different scripts based on the outcome of an existing file.
I have a folder called Status. Inside this folder is a simple text file called Good.rtf
I would like a script that would run one or the other script base on the true or false output. If file exists then:
true will
run script A
false will
run script B
I have been searching the web for two days looking for something to help me get started on this and have not had much success.
Please help me. I really would appropriate any help or guidance.

AppleScript calls this kind of script a "Conditional" = if this > then that
Some templates are in MacintoshHD/Library/Scripts/Script Editor Scripts/Conditionals
You don't need a value for "false" in binary as it is merely "not true" (else)

If you already have your Scripts A & B working, copy>pastethem into the "insert actions here" part as appropriate

Help with importing PC photo files and then organizing it all in iPhoto
Hi everyone,
I'm relatively new to mac but I am just loving my purchase! I need some serious help with getting all of my photos organized though so I can easily find it for editing in iMovie.
I've accumulated over 10,000 photos stored on my PC which I've since transferred over to my LaCie external drive for my MacBook Pro via a wireless network connecting my PC & Mac. Some of these I've put onto my laptop internal hard drive and those I've imported into the iPhoto library. However, do I need to move the rest of the photos from my LaCie drive into my internal hard drive to import the photos into iPhoto, or can I tell iPhoto to look for the files in the external drive. If so, how do I do that? I know I'll then have to create albums in order to sort them, which I know how to do. Is there any fast way to do it by date? I had it sorted into different file folders by month & year so I could easily find them on my PC and would like to do the same using albums.
I am quickly running out of hard drive space on my laptop which is why I've put most of my photos on the external drive. Once I organize my existing collection, I would like to be able to import new pictures and have it stored on my external drive, not my internal drive. How do I do that?
Any other tips on organizing a massive photo library would be greatly appreciated.

This is where you get to enjoy the power of iPhoto's database. You can change the Sort in the View menu. Check out View > Sort Photos > by Date.
Or, click the little calendar icon near the lower left corner of the iPhoto window. This allows you to filter the library by year, month, week, or date. You can Command-click to add another date to your filter. You can Option-click to choose a recurring date: you get that month or date for all years in your library. [Want to see your kid's birthday for every year? Just Option-Click that date. Cool.]
The keywords filter is similar. There is a preference setting where you choose to filter based on ALL keywords chosen (where by choosing more keywords you narrow your field) or ANY keyword (where the more keywords you choose, the larger your field will be). Click on a keyword to filter your library by all photos containing that keyword. Use Command-click to add more keywords to the filter. A difference is that Option-click will eliminate photos with that keyword from your filter. [You can find all pictures of your kids with your dog but NOT at Halloween.]
You can create Smart Albums to combine the use of dates, keywords, ratings, titles, comments and more. The more information you enter into the database, the more powerful the tools become.
When your task of importing is complete and you are ready to play with iPhoto's features it may help to look at the iPhoto multimedia tutorial. Better organized than trying to read through the Help files, it can help you get acquainted with many of iPhoto's features.

Help with multiple user login script
Hi, just a little background first to what i want to do...
I have about 300 Macs in an education environment, they are bound to the AD network for authentication and OSX Server LDAP for forced prefs, the network Home accounts are stored via Apple and Promise Raids on XServes.
We also have 4 local user accounts on all the Macs for video etc. I have some simple scripts that i would like to force to the local Users only, (empty trash, reset dock. reset desktop pics and delete items etc).
I have done the script and saved it as a .app and it works on the Macs as a local User login option. However, when I bind the Mac back to the LDAP the local user script stops working. I have seen the option to 'Allow local scripts' to run via WGM, but have not had success here either, (I have ran the 2 EnableMCXLoginScripts on the clients).
Now I thought I would try to run the script as a Launchdaemon option using Lingon. This works, but its active for all users, I do not want it to delete Network account users Desktops! Is there a way I can add an 'If' option at the beginning of my script. As in..'if users home account is /Network/Sharepoint' then quit.
I cannot run it as a one script for all Mac setting as the different local users have different Desktop Pics and Docks etc
Any ideas or other options I could try?

I have tried it as a ~/Library/LaunchAgents using lingon to create the .plist. I just cannot get it to run though. I have tried it as a .sh .scpt and as a .app file stored in the /Users/Shared folder.
All will run if I manually launch them after login though. I have made them all executable for all.
I have also tried to run it without the Mac connected to my LDAP. I have added the relevant folders to the allow list in WGM on the lDAP anyway...
Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?
