Here drive and no commute function

i have just bought at nokia 520 specifically for nokia drive and commute function, very dissapointed to see nokia drive isn't there it is now "here drive" and has lost the commute function.
does anyone know if when "here drive" is out of beta the communte function will be added?
my store have no idea, I cant find any info on the net and nokia's auto phone switchboard just keep cutting me off so I cant ask the question! I'm about ready to give up on it and get a refund agggghhhhhh

I bought a Nokia Lumia 520 and bought the global navigation license / HERE Drive+ yesterday from within the HERE DRIVE app.
The funny thing is I can't find My Commute either among the other options listed such as SET DESTINATION, FAVORIITES, SAVE LOCATION, etc.
http://www.wpxbox.com/whats-new-in-here-drive/
Anyone know why this is the case and how I can make My Commute appear as one of the options?  Thanks in advance.

Where does My Commutein HERE Drive get traffic info?
Traffic info comes from many sources:
Incident reports: ’Incidents’ can be anything from jams on motorways to planned roadworks. The reports often come from local authorities, such as the police or a traffic management agency.
Traffic sensors: Many metropolitan areas have traffic flow sensors that measure the current average speeds on motorways and major roads.
People like you: Incident reports are timely, but sensors focus mainly on major motorways. So we also rely on the wisdom of local people to help us get a picture of the traffic situation throughout the city. People who use HERE Drive or HERE Drive+ can also help by providing anonymous info about their current travel speed.
Historic info: If sensors aren’t giving us enough info, we can make relatively good assumptions about current traffic speeds based on historic info. Many city streets have very regular patterns, such as a traffic jam most mornings and fast-flowing traffic at night.
Modelling: In many cases, it’s possible to infer the overall traffic situation from partial info. If there’s a heavy jam on a major road, for example, the adjoining side roads are probably also crowded.

    has there been any status on this? When will My Commute be avaible for Lumia 920 owners

    I am in the USA. I bought my Lumia 920 through AT&T. I can confirm that my phone also has Nokia Drive+ beta (version 2.x) installed, and that is all that is available through the Store. Using the link provided in the QR code in the article, I was able to pull up the Store download page for Nokia Drive 3.0, but instead of an Install button, it has an exclamation mark with "This app uses features your phone doesn't have. Learn more."  When tapping on that, it says "App not compatible... App only supports the following resolutions: - WVGA (480x800)."
    So does this mean that people who bought the cheaper, and less capable phone get the newer version of Drive, while the flagship phone has the version that (a) drains the battery in no time flat, even with the charging cable plugged in while driving and (b) does not have a traffic feed so that it can route more intelligently?  In Washington, DC, traffic capital of the US, this is truly a travesty that I can only hope will be fixed soon.

  • HERE Drive stops nav during lockscreen after 20 Mi...

    There is a "similar" post regarding HERE Drive not working AFTER being in the background... however I am having a slightly different issue.
    When I am using HERE Drive and I lock the screen on my Lumia 520 (running Amber GDR2) the HERE navigation will work for about 15-20 minutes and then all of a sudden it just stops navigating and giving directions. If I unlock the phone HERE will re-calculate and start navigating again, lock the screen and 15-20 minutes later... stops navigating again.
    I've tried disabling the "Battery saver" feature in HERE Drive with no improvement, and it doesn't make a difference if HERE Drive is in the Background while the screen is locked or in the "foreground" while the screen is locked in either case 15-20 minutes into a drive it will just stop navigating.
    HERE Drive is ALMOST the perfect solution because when using offline maps and running under lockscreen I only use about 1-2% of the battery every 20-30 minutes. But if the application is going to just stop functioning under lockscreen then there is no value in that feature.
    Anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this or any advise on a fix/workaround?

  • HERE Drive Beta with Traffic updates Lumia 920

    Why can't i use Traffic updates in the HERE Drive + Beta..?? How can see the traffic info while using the navigation on my Lumia 920..?? i had this with my Nokia N8...

    I recently got the update to Here Drive+ Beta and now have Here Drive+ with My Commutes. I think the possiblities are fantastic with the My Commutes feature but so far in the Dallas, TX area whenever I start My Commutes is always says "Couldn't update traffic" I have uninstalled and reinstalled the application but it will not show me any traffic updates during my communte.
    I recently discovered that if I put the app in 2d mode it will show me traffic updates but as soon as I start My Commutes the traffic information disappears.
    Is anyone else experiencing this same issue?

  • HUD display for Here Drive...

    Garmin has announced a HUD for it's NAVGON applications:
    https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/on-the-road/apps/head-up-display-hud-/prod134348.html?utm_source=gar...
    It would be TREMENDOUS if we could do something like this with our Lumias.. Even if it were an 'alternate' (i.e. mirrored) display whereby if we mounted the phone on the dash, it would reflect onto the windsheild in readable format.
    A BT-enabled projector would be even better....

    Hi everyone!
    We are aware of this concern and currently working on this. Here's the official statement regarding the availability of Here Drive, Here Drive + and Here Transit on the Store:
    "We are updating HERE Drive, HERE Drive+ and HERE Transit with new features like traffic information, My Commute and a much more intuitive UI. In some cases, the update process failed and we are working on a solution right now. HERE Drive, HERE Drive+ and HERE Transit will be available again for download soon."

  • [Feature request] Here Drive+ - possibility to cho...

    It's one of the features that it lacks most. Righ now I need to open Here Maps. Long tap on location then choose navigate  and select which app to use. It would be great if I could do the same in Here Drive+. Just long tap on a map and from context menu select "Navigate" or "Add to Favorites".
    Second feature that should be one of a basics is to add waypoints on a route. For example I'm driving from Town A to Town B but I also have to pick up my friend from Town C which lies near the road to Town B. Righ now I have to start navigation from A to C then after I reach my destination I need to start it again from C to B. Instead of just set navigate me from A to B via C. I would like to prepare my route at home and then just launch Here Drive+ and drive. Right now after reachning my waypoint I have to find some place to park a car and set next point on a route.
    Third and last feature would be adding radars and voice nottification to POI.

    Hi R420R,
    That's a good suggestions. You can try to suggest it here: http://windowsphone.uservoice.com/forums/101801-feature-suggestions/category/18997-applications?quer...

  • Quality of India map in Here Drive

    Hi,
    I just wanted to know the quality of the maps of Here Drive from users in India.  I currently use a MapMyIndia device to navigate while driving.  Are the Here Drive maps as detailed as the maps of MapMyIndia?  In other words, once i buy the Nokia Lumia 820, will i be able to substitute my current navigation device with the Here Drive app of Nokia for regulat navigation.
    More importantly, how often are the maps in Here Drive updaed?  MapMyIndia updates it maps every 6 months.
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi,
    Thank you for replying.  Can you help me with answering the following additional questions:
    1. Is there deep integration between Contact and Here Drive i.e. If i have the complete address of one of my business contacts in my phone book and i want to drive to that place, is there an option in the Contact card itself which does something to the efect of "Navigate to this address".  In other words, if i have to drive to some contact's place, will i have to manually enter the destination or can it be picked up from the Contacts address details?
    2. Is there deep integration between address mentioned in Calendar and Here Drive i.e.If i have the complete address of one of my business contacts in the body of an Calendar entry and i want to drive to that place, then can the address be picked up by Here Drive automatically.
    3. If i use multiple applications simultaneously such as Navigation (Here Drive) and listening to music (Bluetooth connection - via the car's AUX system) and the phone rings, then do things work absolutely smooth and fine or are there problems of the phone hanging.
    Thank you.

  • X48 Combo Drive and XP SP1

    I jsut recently purchased the X48 combo drive for my system.  I am having issues with it, which I think are related to Windows XP SP1.
    On a clean install of XP, the drive is correctly recognized as a cdrv/dvd drive.  After installing SP1, the drive will either not show up or will show up as a local disk (ie: hard drive) and will not function.
    I am running a Tyan Tiger MPX board with dual AMD Athlon MP 2000 cpus and 768 mb ram.
    Anyone have similar problems or know anything about what the problem may be?
    Thanks

    no problem on MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R using Winxp pro with SP1.

  • Nokia Lumina 630 ~ Navigation & Here Drive+ / Emai...

    Hi
    New to this and a bit of a newbi to Smartphones and Windows so hope someone can help this old Dinosaur! I had a Nokia N8 which had Ovi maps and navigation which was simple and easy to use. I really don't like the maps and Here Drive+ and wondered if I can put Ovi on my Lumina 630.
    I also have a problem with my email account, which I hope you don't mind me posting this here too. My emails were coming through okay but now they don't and I really have no idea what to do. Thank you.

    No, but create a new thread for each issue is the standard on Nokia Support Discussion. Actually, we are a solution based discussion board, every problem gets one solution. And therefore, we prefer two thread for two isolated issue.

    Who is your E-mail service provider?
    Do you get any error message or is the Inbox just not getting updated?
    MysticSeaport wrote:

    Because it is not possible to have the old Nokia Maps in Windows Phone, anything specific which does not work as intended? Perhaps we find a workaround together for that.

  • Can I turn off the background task for HERE Drive+...

    Hello,
    I have installed on my new Lumia 1020 the application HERE Drive+ and I have noticed that it starts up a background task. Since I'm not using HERE Drive+ on a daily basis I think I could save some battery if I turn off this background task and it is started automatically only when I'm using Drive+ application. Can I do that?
    I went to Settings->Applications->Background tasks and tried to block HERE Drive+. So far so good but when I tried to set to ON (checked) the option "Turn background tasks back on for this app the next time I open it", HERE Drive+ application was automatically unblocked. Is this normal?
    I want to know if I can stop the background task for HERE Drive+ and have it automatically started up when I open HERE Drive+ application.
    Thank you.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    It may be something I missunderstand. So if I go to Settings->Application->Background tasks and tap the button "Advanced" I see a list with many applications, and among them there is HERE Drive+. Above this list it is written "These apps can run in the background, and you may not be able to block all of them".
    Does this just means that HERE Drive+ application is allowed to run in the background? Do I see in this window the list of all background tasks currently running or it is just a list with the application that could run in background?
    Right now I don't have any application running. If I keep pressing on back button the app card list is empty.
    Thank you.

  • Database information and drive space in one function

    Good day all,
    I'm trying to come up with a function that I can run across all mailbox servers in my environment; gathering information such as drives presented to it, drive capacity, drive free space, database size, mbx count, avg mbx size, database whitespace, etc..
    I start running into errors when I wanted to add the drive report to this. Can anyone take a look and see where im faulting? When I run this I get  "you cannot call a method on a null-valued expression.'
    Thank you for your help.
    function DatabaseStatistics{
    $ExchangeServers = get-exchangeserver
    $Drivespace = Get-wmiobject win32_logicaldisk -computername $ExchangeServers
    foreach($Drive in $drivespace) {
    $DrFree = $drivespace.deviceid.freespace
    $DrSize = $drivespace.deviceid.volumename.size
    $Databases = Get-MailboxDatabase * -Status
    foreach($Database in $Databases) {
    $DBSize = $Database.DatabaseSize
    $MBCount = @(Get-MailboxStatistics -Database $Database.Name).Count
    $MBAvg = Get-MailboxStatistics -Database $Database.Name |
    %{$_.TotalItemSize.value.ToMb()} |
    Measure-Object -Average
    New-Object PSObject -Property @{
    Server = $Database.Server.Name
    DatabaseName = $Database.Name
    LastFullBackup = $Database.LastFullBackup
    MailboxCount = $MBCount
    "DatabaseSize (GB)" = $DBSize.ToGB()
    "AverageMailboxSize (MB)" = $MBAvg.Average
    "WhiteSpace (MB)" = $Database.AvailableNewMailboxSpace.ToMb()
    "Drive and Capacity" = $drsize.toGB()
    "Drive Freespace" = $drfree.toGB()

    Here is how you should approach this.  It is more efficient and will produce less errors.  I didn't test it I just wanted to point you in a better direction.
    Don't try to convert numbers until you have collected all of the data.  The formatter pass always comes at the end.
    The WMI needs to be looked at.  I didn't look up how to get eth drive letter.  It needs to be extracted from the database file path.
    function DatabaseStatistics{
    $servers=get-exchangeserver
    foreach($server in $servers){
    $p=@{
    Server=$server.Name
    DatabaseName=$null
    LastFullBackup=$null
    MailboxCount=$null
    DatabaseSize=$null
    AverageMailboxSize=$null
    WhiteSpace=$null
    DriveSize=$null
    DriveFreespace=$null
    $databases=Get-MailboxDatabase -Server $server
    foreach($database in $databases){
    $p.DatabaseSize=$database.DataBaseSize
    $p.DatabaseName=$database.Name
    $values=Get-MailboxStatistics -Database *|%{$_.ToTalItemSize.Value}|Measure-Object -Average
    $p.MailBoxCOunt=$values.Count
    $p.AverageMailboxSize=$values.Average
    $p.LastFullBackup=$database.LastFullBackup
    $p.WhiteSpace=$database.AvailableNewMailboxSpace
    $edbpath=$database.edbFilePath.PathName
    $d=([io.fileinfo]$edbpath).Directory.Root.Name.Replace('\','') #'
    $drv=Get-WmiObject Win32_LogicalDisk -Filter "Name='$d'" -Computer $server
    $p.DriveSize=$drv.Size
    $p.DriveFreeSpace=$drv.Freespace
    New-Object PSObject -Property $p

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Is it possible to keep all iTunes media on an external hard drive and not on my Mac Book and have ITunes still function?

    Let me begin by saying I'm new to the Mac world as well as to the realm of online forums so I apologize if this is a question that was already asked and/or if it is a very noobish question...
    But anyway, I just recently got the new Macbook Pro 15" with RD and I am curious if I can keep all of my Itunes media on an external hard drive without keeping any of it on the Macbook itself and have Itunes still function (when the HD is connected of course). I am trying to keep the computer memory clutter free and not fill it up with music and stuff so I want to keep all of my media on a 1T Buffalo external hard drive so the computer stays like brand new for a long time..Right now I have about 5G worth of music on my hard drive and I thought it was only on the hard drive and I just recently found out that it is also within the music folder on the computer itself. Any thoughts? Sorry if it is an odd question, I can try to rephrase the question if need be. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated, Thanks!

    Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the iTunes Library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.
    If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
    Longer answers if for any reason you do not think all library files are inside your iTunes folder (changed preferences settings at some point):
    iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 - a somewhat bewildering and not always easily understandable set of options.
    For the record there's this reference for iTunes 11 but it really doesn't strike me as having the specifics you need. iTunes 11 for Mac: Move your library to another computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12168
    2011 ilounge article: Transferring your iTunes library - http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive/  - An article with good background information (similar to the links above), particularly if you are not sure your media files are all grouped for quick answer above. Unfortunately under the single term "transferring library" it describes two very different moves; relocating just your media (not  really transferring your library and not recommended unless you really need this configuration), and relocating media+database (really your whole "library").  Make sure you understand the difference before electing to move only media.

  • I want to burn all my genuine-store-bought-nothing-illegal-here DVDs to a hard drive and want to know what the best program is to do this is. Thank you!

    Could someone please suggest a program or software which is easy to use and won't confuse the life out of me. I'm not very tech savvy!! Haha *sigh*

    The easiest option would to purchase a backup hard drive and store your data there. Hard drives are getting cheaper all the time, and all you have to do is drag and drop. Lots of good choices here, but I've had good luck with the super-reliable G Drive and the Seagate Freeagent Go.
    When it comes to transferring the DVD, there are some legal ambiguities to address. Strictly speaking, by strict application of copyright law, it's even illegal to copy content you own. In short, if you purchased a DVD, it can't be copied. However, "fair use" is often used to justify copying content - movies or software - that you've paid for already. That means you'll have to "rip" the DVD. Since powers at Apple are likely to object to fair use arguments, you'd best to investigate the details on your own.
    Post here if you have any more questions, or comments, or anything!

  • External FW/USB Western Digital, Seagate Disk Drives and 'Sleep' function

    As you are aware, most external disk drives be they FW or USB (and irrespective of the manufacturer, save for LaCie) have a 'sleep' function built into their Firmware. In the case of the Western Digital and Seagate Ext FW drives I have, this function cannot be disabled and this per both WD and Seagate.
    Unfortunately this is extremely annoying if using Photoshop and Bridge...it takes about ten seconds for each disk to spin up while the latter programs search the drives. (In Windows this can be enabled/disabled. Not so with the Mac O/S I have been told). Multiply this by six of the aforementioned drives and it can be quite time consuming.
    Is there an OS-X workaround for this?
    Thanks again,
    Lyman

    I always avoid vendor cases. Might want to look at an Oxford 912 etc, or better yet, why use Firewire when eSATA works so well?

  • HT1751 Hi, I tried to restore my itunes library from an external drive and did everything that's written here step by step.when I chose the itunes library to import itunes just said that its accessing the itunes store but nothung happened. I'm working on

    Hi, I tried to restore my itunes library from an external drive and did everything that's written here step by step. when I chose the itunes library to import itunes just said that its accessing the itunes store but nothing happened. Does anyone know how to do this so that all my playlists are also imported and not just the music itself?

    When I have done this, all I did was network the two machines and copy the contents of the iTunes folder to the other machine, and that's it.
    My understanding (which may not be 100% correct) is that the one file that is absolutely necessary is iTunes Library, and that the XML file is actually a copy auto-generated from the iTunes Library, appearing in a different format only for non-iTunes apps that take advantage of the iTunes Library data.
    As far as I know, if you simply have the Library (database) file and all your original music files, iTunes on that computer should operate as it did on your old computer. I believe that the Album Artwork, Genius Data, and XML files can be regenerated from the Library file. Not sure about the Extras file.
