Heterogeneous migration

Hi experts,
I have a question.
It is possible to make heterogeneous migration of the system:
SAP R/3; SAP_BASIS 620
OS: HP-UX 11.11
DB ORACLE 9.2.
target system: LINUX.?
It is possible do it on DB ORACLE release 9.2.?
Best Regards

Hi Srini,
I had only found Migration guide on NW7. Can you help me to find mgr. guide on NW2004 if it is possible.
Thank you

  • Heterogeneous Migration of BW on SQL Server to BW on HANA Issue

    Hi,
I am performing Heterogeneous migration of BW on SQL Server to BW on HANA  according to the procedure mentioned in the SAP Documentation.
Started the migration using Software Provisioning Manager.
I have ran SMIGR_CREATE_DDL and ran export of source system and it is completed successfully.
Then I ran the Import of Target system. The import ran into issues when running the script SAPVIEW, the script resulted in failure when creating views.
    (DB) ERROR: DDL statement failed
    (CREATE VIEW "V_TRALAN" ( "PGMID" , "OBJECT" , "OBJ_NAME" , "AUTHOR" , "DEVCLASS" , "MASTERLANG" , "COMPONENT" , "NAMESPACE" , "TPCLASS" , "GENFLAG" , "DLVUNIT"  ) AS SELECT T0001."PGMID", T0001."OBJECT", T0001."OBJ_NAME", T0001."AUTHOR", T0001."DEVCLASS",  T0001."MASTERLANG", T0002."COMPONENT", T0002."NAMESPACE", T0002."TPCLASS", T0001."GENFLAG", T0002."DLVUNIT" FROM "TADIR" T0001, "TDEVC" T0002 WHERE T0002."DEVCLASS" = T0001."DEVCLASS")
    DbSlExecute: rc = 103
      (SQL error 259)
      error message returned by DbSl:
invalid table name:  Could not find table/view TDEVC in schema SAPXXX: line 1 col 386 (at pos 385)
I found that there are many tables which are missing in HANA Schema but exists in Source system database.
I checked the export scripts like *.STR and *.EXT and does not see those tables being captured.
Example table: TTREE exists in Source System database , but missing in HANA Database Schema SAPXXX.
Not sure what is the problem and how can I fix this issue. I was planning to manually move the missing tables from Source database to HANA Database schema, but that will be too much and I am not sure how many of them are missing.
Please let me know how can I fix this issue?
    Thanks.
    Syed

    Dear Ram Nath,
It may be late but it will be use full to others.
I faced similar issue and solved it by commenting the 5th line of DFACT.SQL file.
The issue was with the indexes not being generated properly to avoid such issues we must ensure to implement SAP note 1991576 in prior, if not we can comment the 5th line.
Below is the corrected file in my case
    # ORACLE : NATIVE SQL EXPORT GENERATED AT 20150426083248
#ind:  - commented line (earlier it was just 'ind: ')
    ind: /BI0/E0PPM_VC1~0
    tab: /BI0/F0PPM_VC1
Please let me know in case of queries if any.

  • Heterogenous Migration

Dann rufen Sie mich bitte an.
    Mit freundlichen Grüßen
    Michael Ruttkowski

hi michael, das nächste mal bitte in englisch....next time plz post in english as most uf the users do not understand german....
-> currently there is no support for 64bit on sles 9 (have a look at pam) neither 6.20 nor 6.40
    -> kernel 6.40 32bit is supported for oracle 9i and sles 9/ia32
regarding your prime cluster plz get in contact with siemens as it is their product and they have to go for supportability...for example flexframe is already certified and supported for sap!
licensing? depends mainly on the amount of users that will work within the sap systems...contact sap for the relevant numbers

  • SAP Migration checklist (Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Migration)

    Hi Gurus,
Do you have any links that will direct me regarding the topic above? I just need to know if there are some considerations or checklist that are being followed particulary on the infrastructure side?
Appreciate your quick help on this matter.

    Hi,
Have you checked the system copy guide as all the details mentioned there ?
    Thanks
    Sunny

  • SAP R/3 4.7 migration using Veritas PDC solution

    Hi,
I would like to do a heterogeneous system copy.
    My current environment:-
    OS= IBM AIX
    DB=Oracle 9i
    DB size=6TB
Storage= Veritas Storage foundation suite (Portable Data Container)
    Target system:-
    OS=HPUX
    DB=Oracle 9i
    DB size=6TB
Storage= Veritas Storage foundation suite (Portable Data Container)
Instead of using SAP tool (SAPINST,migmon, R3ta) to export/import the SAP system.
Can I make use of the VERITAS -PDC solution? Whereby I will do a snapshot of the Oracle datafile.
And then do some veritas pdc conversion to HPUX . And present the datafile to HPUX (target system).
Is this supported by SAP? What is the impact if SAP say it is not supported method to do migration?
I saw a document say it is not supported, but it is dated 2005.
    Thanks.
    Best Regards,
    CK chai
    Does anyone

The first thing you should be aware of:
If you do heterogeneous migrations you must have a certified migration consultant on-site, otherwise you loose support for problem occurring through the migration and for the target system (see http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration --> FAQ).
The only "supported official" way is doing an R3load export and import.
You can use other ways (e. g. also transportable tablespaces with Oracle 10g) but the responsibility of doing that is in the hand of the migration consultant.

Heterogeneous migrations must be done by a certified migration consultant, otherwise you will loose support for the migration itself and for the target system. See http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration
I was thinking use the installation master to do the export database and later instal sql server and import the database via installation master too but im not sure if a will get errors or something like that
Basically you're right - but there are a few things for source and target system to consider; using just the tools and kernels from the installation DVD is likely to fail since they are too old and must be replaced during the migration with newer tools.
BTW: there's a separate forum for migrations:

Heterogenous migration to Oracle is possible, but it depends on your kernel releases, oracle version, OS version also.
Maybe SAP Note 407314 can help ?

  • Oracle migration from Solaris 64 sparc to Solaris x86-64

Now that Solaris x86-64 is supported in Netweaver 2004s SR1, I was wondering about the migration path.
Would this be a heterogeneous migration or a homogeneous migration.
or to put it another way Export/import to migrate
    or backup/restore????
No documents exist yet regarding this migration.

    Hello Guys
Just wanted to ask you whether Migration of SAP system from Solaris SPARC to Solaris x86_64 is possible using the
    backup/restore method.
I would be grateful if you could share your experience

  • Migration SAP R/3 Enterprise 47x200 from HPUX to Windows.

    Hello,
Due to cost-reducing we have to migrate our SAP environment (SAP R/3 Enterprise 47x200 - Oracle 9.2.0.6.0) from HPUX 11 to Windows. For the moment it's a production system, but it will become a sleeping system that needs to be active for legal reasons. Is it still possible to get the required installation CD's for this SAP version ? If yes, who do I have to contact, if not, do you have other suggestions to do this migration. Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards
    René Jongeneelen

    >  Is it still possible to get the required installation CD's for this SAP version ?
    sure.
    >  If yes, who do I have to contact, if not, do you have other suggestions to do this migration.
    Download them:
    http://service.sap.com/swdc
    but
keep in mind that you're doing a heterogeneous migration. This requires a certified migration consultant doing the migration on-site, otherwise you'll loose support for problems during the migration and for the target system.
    Check http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration --> FAQ
Also keep in mind that Oracle 9.2 is (long) out of support, you should upgrade to 10g.

  • OS migration documentation required

    Hello Experts.
Can anybody share OS migration document with me?
    I need to migrate HP-UX to AIX6.0.
So, please it will be very helpful if anybody share it.
    Thanks,
    Sudip.

You can use the system copy guides, it contains a path how to do that.
However, heterogeneous migrations must be done using a certified migration consultant on-site, otherwise you will loose support for the migration and for the target system (see http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration). This is also the reason why there are no defined guides for that.

  • Heterogeneous System Copy.

    Hi,
I need to do a het. sys. copy from DB2 AIX to DB2 Windows for ECC EhP4 System. I ran DB export using SAPinst in the source system, but could not find any data in the export directory. The SAPinst has only created some directories without data. To my surprise whole export completed in few seconds, which is highly impossible.
Could anyone please suggest how to go about this?
    Thanks
    Abhi

If the system was installed with a virtual hostname you need to set start sapinst as
    SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<hostname> ./sapinst
Be aware of the fact, that heterogeneous migrations require a certified migration consultant on-site, otherwise you'll loose support for problems during and after the migration including the target system (see http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration --> FAQ).

  • Changes to be made in EP server during Oracle database migration

    Hi,
Currently we have a scenario where both our Oracle database 10.2 and NW 7.0 server are on same system which has got the hardware configuration as 32 bit 2003 windows machine. Due to memory constraints DB team is planning to migrate the database in to another system which is of 64 bit unix OS.
Now before they migrate the Oracle database from current system to new system i wanted to know on what all parameters and changes have to carried out from NW/ EP end so that after the database is moved EP points to the same Oracle database in the new system and runs smoothly.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Regards,
    Vipin.

This is a heterogeneous migration (you change the operating system) - which requires a certified migration consultant to do that task. If you do it on your own you will loose support for the target system (see http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration)
    > Now before they migrate the Oracle database from current system to new system i wanted to know on what all parameters and changes have to carried out from NW/ EP end so that after the database is moved EP points to the same Oracle database in the new system and runs smoothly.
You will have to use the Java export/import method, not copying database files over.
Check the official system copy guides.

  • Re Migrating from Oracle to DB2

    Hi All,
We are migrating from Oracle to DB2, so just wanted to know what will be the impact when we do this, i mean what all necessary steps should be taken to do so. I am a technical consultant involved in this project so not much idea regarding this.
Also please let me know will it effect the custom i mean the Z programs that we have created. Please let me know regarding this.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Salish.

A heterogeneous migration (changing database and/or operating system) implies a certified migration consultant doing the migration, otherwise you'll loose support from SAP for problems during the migration and for the target system (http://service.sapcom/osdbmigration --> FAQ).
    > Also please let me know will it effect the custom i mean the Z programs that we have created. Please let me know regarding this.
Depending on how you access the data you may need to increase/delete indexes or change the programs to get a better speed.
