When you say it "can not scan any wifi network" do you mean it is not detecting Wi-Fi networks?
Is Wi-Fi turned on in Settings > General > Wi-Fi?
Have you tried Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings?
Is it just the home network that the device will not connect to? or any network?

So I have a file on my desktop and I cannot open it, move it to a folder, or delete it from my mac. I dont know what it has in it, and that makes me suspicious. What can I do to remove this unremovable file from my computer? Is it a virus?

First, I would recommend repairing the hard drive with Disk Utility.
If that doesn't fix the problem, there's a very dangerous command you can execute in the Terminal. This is very hazardous, because a simple typo can result in very drastic consequences. I have seen people erase their entire hard drive by putting a space in the wrong place! So, please follow the directions I'm going to give you very carefully!
Open the Terminal, which is found in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder. In the Terminal, enter the following:
sudo rm -f
Make sure to put a space after the "-f"! Then, drag the troublesome file from the Finder and drop it on the Terminal window. That should insert the path to the file in the command. Then go back to the Terminal and press return. You will be asked for your password, and when you type it, nothing will be shown as a security measure. Press return again after entering your password. The file should be deleted.

Just switched from pc to mac book and itunes not what it used to be

I just made the switch. I used an external hard drive that I was using anyway to hold my itunes library to move my music and itunes content over to the new computer. When I restarted itunes with existing ipod, the itunes set up was different. I had two different play lists; one on itunes and one set that pops up when ipod is connected. very strange. I just purchased an iphone and I am having a real dandy getting the music to sync onto the phone. I think it started with the transition.....

When you swap you have to remake your playlists I think. i don't have an iPhone so i can't help there sorry.

I need to update software on my MAC and dont know whats needed.

I am still running the 10.5.8 asnd have itunes 10.6.3, and am unable now to use itunes to sink to devices. I have tried to download a more recent version of itunes but was unsuccesful in the install. I see there is updates I can download( and need) but need to know where to find these. I will continue to search through discussions, but would appreciate some help.

The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.

Not much you can do. You overwrote your current data with older data when you restored the phone from that backup. Your data's gone.

I'm not sure how Time Capsule can be replicated onto your external drive but there is a USB port on the back of TC that can be hooked up to any recent external drive.
Another thing to think about , besides a Time Capsule failure, is the theft of your Time Capsule, so it might be a good idea to consider separating any redundant back-up from your Time Capsule or both my be stolen.
TC will back up until full and then begin deleting the oldest back-ups. Mine is a 2TB Time capsule.
My back-up plan is as follows:
1. Macbook Air back-up on Time Capsule though Time Machine backs up everything - I think it's about every 30 min or so.
2. Contacts, reminders, appointments, notes, email are backed up through iCloud.
3. iTunes and non-itunes purchased music is on iMatch (and no need to back-up) and any non-iTunes music is backed up on an HP external drive (in case Time Capsule dies)
4. Photos are on my MacBook Air and are backed up on my HP external drive.
5. Office documents (Excel, Powerpoint, Access etc) are stored in a Skydrive app (like iCloud) and Skydrive syncs these docuemnts with the MS cloud and my old PC and does not alter their native format like storing in iCloud would do.

If you were logged in to icloud on the computer and it is on / connected to wifi / not erased, you will be able to go to iCloud.com (universal) and find a location. If the mac book had a deleted partition which held your icloud info you will not.

If you deleted them and you don't have them backed up. You lost them, you can get them back by entering them again.

Mac Book and CS3

Hey all, any comments on a Mac Book (looking at 2.16GHz) and CS3?? Light Photoshop work, major Illustrator/Acrobat work. Will the lack of dedicated graphics chip cause any noticeable performance losses??

CS3 and the MacBook get along just fine but, of course, CS3 is a memory hog so you'll want at least 2GB of RAM. I'm tempted to characterize applebookg5's post about the MacBook's display being garbage as compost. What I'm sure he meant to say is that for doing serious color work an LCD isn't as accurate as a CRT and he is right. But unless you are a professional photographer and intend to work only on the MacBook without benefit of a CRT, that isn't really a concern.
