I am unable to start up my iMac running on 10.4.11 - the startup disk is installed and will not start up eben when I hold down the "C" Key. I do get the apple, but then it disappears.

When holding down the 'command' key for a few seconds, the Universal Access panel appears. How can I stop this?
It is a panel that pops up and the heading on the panel is 'Universal Access', it is actually just an image of a panel, you can't access it. I have checked keyboard shortcuts and none of them are assigned to the command key only

Can you please help to understand how the firefox decides on the Expires date for a cached javascript file ( my server did not set any Expire header, but firebox set it down). I tried to understand but different javascript file gets different Expires date value when it is being cached. Please help me as I tried lot and could not get proper answer for this. I am having trouble looking at video podcasts on my ipod touch. they are all greyed out. I have tried removing them and resyncing. this did not work. any ideas?

My primary keyboard is English UK and secondary one Spanish. Until now when switching keyboards languages the spell check would automatically change to the desired language. Somehow it does not happen anymore. Any ideas on how to fix this?
The keyboard doesn't normally play any role in Apple apps regarding spellcheck. That is determined by system prefs/keyboard/text/spelling. Go the setup item at the bottom of the list and make sure that British English and Spanish are the only two boxes checked, and then set it to Automatic. How well it works varies a lot. You may also need to check Edit > Spelling and Grammar > Show Spelling and Grammar.
If you are still using Pages 4, spellcheck is determined by Inspector > Text > More > Language. Make sure that is set to the right thing for what you want to do. -
When I try to use the internal hard drive as a scratch disk I get this error "unable to set scratch disk- the selected directory is on write protect or non-writable media. Any ideas on how to fix this. It only happens in fcp.
By internal, I assume you're referring to your systems (boot) drive. Is it, by chance, a partitioned dive?
Also…although many people successfully use their systems drives as scratch disks, over time you'll have better results using a dedicated drive for your media.

Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
