Hey when did they change (shrink) the item description??

When I happened to go into one of my lots this morning, I noticed that the description is now shrunk!! It says: Item description (and underneath that) One seemingly random line from the actual description (and underneath that) A link: See full item description This takes the buyer even farther from ever reading what is actually in the description. Depending on what random? line it pulls from the description text it can also be confusing to the buyer. It is a good thing that I've naturally been reducing the amount of stuff in the description text (this view is much like what it is in cell phone viewing land anyway) but it is a somewhat significant change to just discover one day.....

eBay has been running tests on listings to make the listing like their mobile apps that have the click to see the description. These tests have been running for close to a year and much complaining in the USA forums about this test causing lost sales. Now in recent days apparently, this hiding of the description has been affecting more sellers/buyers. Someone posted a solution to this problem in the past 2-3 days in the eBay.com forums. The poster got it from Customer Support when they called. Apparently if you clear your browser cookies it goes back to full description with no button. Be sure to not be logged into eBay or PayPal when you do this. You can use this shortcut to clear browser cookies. CTRL-SHIFT-DELETE Then check off cookies only and delete. I had the click button in my description yesterday when I revised a listing. Never had it before. I had just read the above fix and had viewed an eBay listing with the button in the description so I am speculating that viewing a listing "infects" you with this cookie and the click button appears. I cleared cookies and the click button was gone in my revised listing. I think this is a new eBay glitch with this cookie that just started in the past few days. However, I always clear my browser cookies and cache and temp files after browser sessions so I may have had this and not known. Post back if this fixes your problem.

In iOS 6, now both the iPad and the Apple TV have to be on the same network and both have to be connected using WiFi ? Why did they change this ? Means that the iPad and the Apple TV box both have to be in range of the wireless router when this wasn't a restriction before. Apple TV could be anywhere as long as it was connected to the same wireless router via ethernet cable. Seems like an unnecessary thing to restrict.

I have found with AppleTV that it is the IPV6 on the computer you want to access is the problem. The issue is that Homegroup on Win 7 or Win 8 requires IPV6 to work, but AppleTV won't work with IPV6. (So maybe double check you have IPV6 turned off)
So you have to make a choice - Homegroup or AppleTV.... but you can't have both, until Apple brings ATV up to date. (crazy that it does not recognise IPV6 - c'mon Apple!)
You can set up sharing individually in Win 7 or 8 and have the ATV access files that way.
Having said that, there is always the exception.. I have an old HP home server running Win8 and it services ATV - but is part of the Homegroup... have no idea why it works on both, but no other machine on the home network will talk to both ATV and Homegroup at the same time!

I love the new version of Grid view but some of the other changes feel like they still need some fine tuning. And I miss cover flow even if I didn't use it that often...
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
Ctrl+B to turn on the menu bar
Ctrl+S to turn on the sidebar (your device should be listed here as before)
Ctrl+/ to turn on the status bar
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
Should you still feel the need to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and suppporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

You probably have the Voiceover accessibility feature turned on. It's difficult to navigate as you need to use specific voiceover gestures. The easirest thing to do is connect the phone to iTunes. Select the Summary pane and click the "Configure Universal Access..." button. In the window that opens,select "Neither" in the seeing options and click "OK".

I can not read the minds of the Adobe engineers or Marketing people. Nesting a sequence is not much more trouble than applying an effect.
If you are creating a PIP, then a nested sequence is probably your solution. If you are not nesting, scale and crop, then put a white matte under it.
This is not a great place for asking questions that have no answers outside of internal Adobe decisions. This is, however, a great place to get workarounds.

Mike, I think you might be referring to the Part Name (which is really the description), "PartsMaster.PartName," from Web Tools. If so, the matching field in B1 is Item Name, "OITM.ItemName."

Why on earth did they change the selection tool key commands?

Am I crazy? I've been using AI for over a decade, and thought I had the keystrokes down to second nature by now. But now every time I try to use keystrokes to switch temporarily to the select, direct select, and group select tools, everything is constantly coming out wrong. This is just confusing the hell out of me. Am I getting Alzheimer's already? Or did they really change something that core to how we work minute by minute? If the latter, what in the name of God inspired that?

The logic is trying to keep keyboard shortcuts consistent between products in the Suite. That way you don't have to remember 4 or 5 different shortcut sets.
You can go into your Keyboard Shortcuts and remap them to a great extent. Like I switched my Direct Selection Tool from no shortcut to Shift-A and the Measure Tool to Shift-H like in the olden days. Save your set and you're good!

i've noticed that typing on the new ipad air is a burden and hurts my hand because they have made the width larger than previous models.
I really wish they would leave well enough alone.

Add me to the list as someone who is beyond happy with the new size of iPad Air. It's the single best change to the device yet! And to the OP, maybe your ruler has different measurements than mine. iPad Air is not wider than previous devices.

Did they change the inventory system to have it show real time counts now?

I ask because before it used to be that it took a store having THREE or more copies of a game or other item before they would show up as available via the website. Of course, if you looked something up using the kiosks IN store it would show most times even if it was less than three.
I just ask because I bought a copy of Deadpool for the PS3 on Sunday and it showed as IN stock even though they only seemed to have ONE copy. By the time I got home and double checked it showed '3-5 days' for in store pickup for that same game.
Just kind of curious since if they did improve the system this is a GREAT thing.

Great question about our inventory system! I always check and make sure the item I want is available before I go into the store so I don’t leave disappointed I didn’t get what that I wanted because it was sold out.
I know that we are continuously striving to improve our systems and make them better, faster, stronger. Just recently in fact, we rolled out a new register system to the stores full of numerous improvements and upgrades. With that said, I too have noticed the system updating more quickly, and have seen exactly what you described in your post.
Thanks for noticing our hard work, hopefully we can continue to impress!
