Hi everyone, I have windows 8.1 my ipod touch 5th gen wont connect to itunes no matter what i do any help ?

my ipod also connected to my laptop just does not comeup under devices in itunes......I have done all the updats and re instilations of all my software and that related to apple and the usb hardrives... i have contacted apple and gone in person with no one being able to help... i have gone through x2 of the itunes recomended things to do on the website.. i have also tried it with 2 lightening chargers and my ipod touch 3rd gen ipod 30pin onld school charger and ipod will also not connect to itunes im running a 36 bit 8.1 software on a hp laptop never had a problem before this...

When I connect my iPod to my Mac Book Pro laptop my music that I've transferred to my iPod and music playlist will appear in my iTunes my music will play with no problem. Now, when I disconnect my iPod from my computer go into my music, my music playlist and music I've downloaded into my iPod disappears. I reconnect my iPod to my computer, everything shows. I have a brand new ipod touch and it wont connect to itunes or my computer!!??

I have a brand new ipod touch however when I connect it to my computer, itunes does not recognise it and neither does my computer. The drivers have downloaded and are showing working. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing itunes as discussed in support centre however nothing seems to work. The ipod itself just has the connect to the computer on the screen, is fully charged and when plugged in a little lock sign comes up for a second or two above the itunes icon!!! Let me know if you have any further suggestions please.

Thanx for you suggestions, I used my old xp laptop...update software and my ipod connected however the memory is not large enough to hold my itunes library so I could see it was not the cable or the ipod at fault.
I have tried to connect to my vista laptop again and have tried all of the suggestions in troubleshooting again...I have even upgraded to windows 7 to see if that cleared the problem....and....my computer has located my ipod but is only recognising it as a digital camera so back to the drawing board...

You can't track it with the serial number. If you had an iPod Touch running iOS 5 later AND set up Find my IPod on it, then there is a chance you might be able to locate it by going to www.icloud.com, logging in with your Apple ID and clicking Find my IPod. Of course, the iPod still needs to be on and connected to a Wi-Fi network in order for it to be located.
If nothing else, report it to the police and change any and all passwords to any accounts you set up or used on the iPod.
Apple otherwise cannot help you.

I Decide that I wanted to move my music from my iPod touch to iTunes on my pc but I can't there is no option for that only sync which says it will erase all my songs videos etc. so am I stuck like this or is there a way that I can move my music to iTunes

If you bought the songs in iTunes, connect to your PC, open iTunes, right click on your iPod in the device list and choose "transfer purchases".

Why does my Ipod touch 5th gen not sync podcasts with my Windows Itunes? Both are up to date with versions.

I didn't see this asked so sorry if this is a duplicate question.
In Itunes (it is the most recent version for windows available as of 2/12/2014) all my podcasts are showing they have downlaoded to my PC. They don't have the little cloud next to them. I sync my Ipod touch 5th gen. The sync shows everything was synced. I look at the "Whats on this ipod" tab and they are listed. But when I disconnect the ipod via the "eject" icon on the Ipod button in itunes and look at the podcasts they still show as not downloaded (greyed out and if wifi is turned on the little cloud is next to them ).
So whats going on? I had this issue with my ipod touch 4th gen as well and though it was because the podcast app stopped upgrading but the itunes on windwos did. But the syncing of the podcasts are even worse with the 5th gen then they were with the 4th gen.
I typically don't have wifi turned on since I want to sync the ipod via itunes. So I have a central place to keep the old podcasts without having to take space on the ipod itself. I saw some references to the downloading of podacasts are done only via wifi, but that just didn't make sense. Why be able to sync Itunes if they are just going to turn around and make you do the same on the device?
Any ideas? Suggestions?

ipod touch 5th gen will not sync after windows 8.1 update. Computer see's Itouch as mass storage and charges. Worked with Window's 8 fine, as soon as update was done and restarted computer Itouch doesn't show up. Itouch seen on two other computers.

My (up to date) iPod touch 5th gen is not showing up in (up to date) iTunes on my Windows 8.1 laptop.

I have recently bought a new laptop and downloaded iTunes to it right away. I have not been able to connect my iPod touch 5th gen to iTunes at all since then. I have updated both the iPod and iTunes completely and both are up to date. I tried different iPods of the same generation and they haven't connected either. I have tried using different cables and all my usb ports. I tried resetting my iPod and re-installing iTunes to my computer. My iPod is showing up in my computer but not under devices in iTunes.
