Hi, I am using macbook pro 2009 model. In that, there is wifi hardware is not installed. I am not able to use wireless networks. Anybody can help me out.

Hello,
I am using Macbook pro 2009 model. In that, when I tried to connect wireless network and wifi. I am not able to do. I have done R & D regarding this issue. Some them advice to do some below steps.
Restart your Mac.
upon start-up, hold down the Opt key until you see your drives.
click on the recovery drive (note: this will not affect or delete any files you currently have).
login if needed.
in the top right hand corner you will see the Wi-Fi icon (hopefully). Click the icon and then click "turn wifi Off" and then again click "turn wifi ON"
restart your Mac again and start it up normally.
recover from your near-heart attack.
I've followed your 1 to 4 steps & then after clicking on the wifi icon, I found Wi-Fi: No hardware installed just beneath the icon. That means no Wifi hardware is installed in this machine. Do you have any suggestion about installing it? I mean how can I get that hardware? Is it available on internet? Thanks a lot again.

Apparently you have tried everything except - take the monitor in question to the Apple Store along with your computer.  If it works there, the mystery continues.

  • Help, macbook pro 2009 model hung on yesterdays update

Yesterday I updated with the new system. My macbook pro 2009 model took a long time to download the system update, then did the restart and install but has hung on restarting again. It started up, got to my desktop but hasn't loaded icons or application bar. I have the spinning beachball of death! What can I do to fix it?

    Applelover162000,
if the problem is unrepairable, then you’ll need to completely erase your internal disk, reïnstall the version of OS X that’s on your grey Mac OS X Install DVD, and run Software Update to get it up to date in that version. If that takes you to Snow Leopard 10.6.8, then you can redownload and reïnstall Mavericks. If that doesn’t take you to Snow Leopard 10.6.8, then you’ll need to reïnstall Snow Leopard from the white retail DVD and run Software Update to get you to 10.6.8, at which point Mavericks can be redownloaded and reïnstalled. Once you’ve run Software Update from Mavericks, you can restore from your internal disk’s latest backup..
If you don’t have a backup of your internal disk, and you’d like to try to save any files on it, there are two ways to try making one at this point: one is by booting from an external bootable disk, and the other is by starting your MacBook Pro in Target Disk mode so that another Mac can treat your MacBook Pro as an external disk. In either case, you’ll need to copy whatever files are salvageable from your internal disk to the system which you’re booting from. Once you’ve got Mavericks reïnstalled, I’d highly recommend purchasing an external disk to use as a Time Machine backup destination.

I've MacBook Pro 2009 model... from last few days my airport is not functional. This happened when I deleted plist of com.apple..... from systems folder from library-> preference->system. Now, when you check the status of Airport hardware it says "Not Associated".  One more thing that came to my notice is that 'com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist' this file is missing from system folder. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Thank you for your reply......
I have tried using different OS 10.7, 10.8... further OS doesn't suit my MacBook, so currently I am on 10.6. I did reinstallation twice using 10.6 but the files were not restored.
Yes.. I am talking about internet wireless card.
I don't have back up files for files which i deleted and they are not in trash as well.... the reason I deleted files was from the image attached from OSXdaily.com
I have tried resetting the PRAM, NVRAM, SMC but to no use.
    now what do I do.??

The first thing you should do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. How you do that depends on the model. Look it up on this page to see what version was originally installed.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. I suggest you install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. If you don't have the media, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
Once booted from the disc or in Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, buy it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able toauthorize it under your ID. In that case, contact iTunes Support.

hi now i am using macbook pro i was download torrent once i done the vedio i cant watch the vedio so what i want to do can u help me

Downloading from torrent sites is not necessarily safe - some sites include additions to the things you download. The point is: when something is free which costs money elsewhere, it may not be safe.
Personally, I would delete the video and make sure my system is still working correctly.

Syncing the 3GS is exactly the same as syncing the 4S - so just do the same as you've been doing.
How do you normally sync contacts from your Mac to your iPhone? Via iTunes over USB/WiFi, or via iCloud?

  • Using Macbook Unibody (2009 Model) with lid closed?

Hi just a quick question, I have a small desk and would love to use my macbook with my monitor I was wondering if I close the lid and use a vertical laptop stand would it cause any damage to the macbook?
I've heard things on the net that it can warp the screen is this true, and would this still be the case with a vertical laptop stand that allow sufficient cooling?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks Matt

Connect an external monitor and USB keyboard and your MB will operated automatically with the lid closed. However, I would not orient the MB vertically as it can affect proper heat dissipation. The MB should be left horizontal if possible with the rear of the computer elevated at least 1" to allow adequate ventilation. Room temperature should be kept to 75º F or below if possible otherwise use a fan or other method for keeping the computer from overheating. It's the latter that could tend to warp a screen or chassis. If you play certain processor taxing games this will keep the processor temperature near its maximum. You can tell when the fan starts running extremely fast and loud.

  • Why does our macbook pro save pictures to downloads on my wife's account, but my side does not?

In the beginning, everything worked fine. I dabbled with everything. Just getting the feel for os x. My account still works great, but my wife is having issues on her side. Such as, changing her desktop background, all of her friends pictures on facebook has downloaded to her download folder and if she deletes them, she also deletes them from her friends list. and the notifaction pop up that I get showing me that someone has sent a notification to me without being on facebook. I forgot how I did that, but my wife wants it done to hers. Any help on these issues? Please?

    Yes.

  • OSX Lion cannot be installed on used macbook pro

    Dear all,
I inherited an old used macbook pro (2009 model) from a colleague.  He cleaned it and it was ready to reinstall when I received it.  I purchased a new OSX Lion set to install.  As the macbook is a present for my daughters birthday, I purchased the software on het apple ID.
When installing (after entering the related apple ID) I get the following message:
This product is currently not available. Try again later.
Can I solve this without having to go to an Apple dealer.  My girls birthday is this Friday, and I'd like to have the macbook ready before that date.
    Thanks!

In order to install Lion (which all 2009 MBPs are capable of) you need to have Snow leopard (10.6.8) installed first.  The simplest path is to order this disk from Apple:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    Then download the combo update:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Then the MBP will be ready for a Lion install.
    Ciao.

  • Using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter to connect Macbook Pro (2009) for a presentation via projector.

When I connect my Macbook Pro (2009 model) using a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter to display a presentation via projector, only the top-left portion of what is displayed on my Macbook Pro's screen is displayed on the projector, as though I zoomed in on that portion of my screen. The projector is on and the adapter and the cable that connects the adapter to the projector machine is correctly connected. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

    Hi glraczon.support,
It sounds like the external display you are using (projector) operates at a smaller resolution than your MacBook Pro. You may want to configure the display preferences in System Preferences for the external projector.
Here is an article that may help you with that process:

  • Does anyone know what SSD will work well/best in a Macbook Pro 2009 13.3inch 2.25 core2duo laptop

I am looking for advice on the best solid-state drive (SSD) for MacBook Pro 2009. I heard that only a few work well since there is a problem with the Nvidia chip working correctly with SSD's on these particular MBP models. I tried an Intel 520 series SSD and I was getting the "beachball" effect every 20 seconds because of the 1.5 negotiated speed link so I returned it to the store. Has anyone found a good SSD that wont give me the low negotiated speed link/ constant beachball effect?
Any help is greatly greatly appreciated, I've been trying to find a good SSD for months now but worry that I will buy one that it wont work well with my MBP like the Intel 520 series did.
    Thanks again.
Using Macbook Pro 2009 13.3inch 2.26 Core2Duo, 4GB of Crucial RAM if that means anything.

You should be able to get 3.0 Gbps from your hard drive bay interface. Not sure why the Intel didn't work for you - but I wouldn't 'buy down' to a 3.0 Gbps SSD (some sold by Crucial and OWC, just to name two): get the fastest that you can so that if you upgrade your machine in the future, your SSD can travel with you.
I've had good luck with the Crucial m2 series - I've one of the 512GB models and it's worked well for me and has good Mac support. They're not the absolute fastest on the market, but they're good and solid.

  • Reinstalling Lion on a Used MacBook Pro

My buddy just bought a used MacBook Pro, and was trying to reinstall OS X Lion on to it.  He is able to choose the destination for the install, hit continue and gets the error message "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes store. Please Review your account information.".  When he clicks on the Review button at the bottom of the screen, nothing happens.
    Any suggestions?

If Lion was originally purchased at the app store, it is forever tied to that person's Apple ID - which means your buddy will not be able to reinstall. The seller was supposed to erase Lion and reinstall the original OS; both Lion and Mountain Lion licenses are not transferable if purchased at the app store. If he can contact the seller, that would be best; second choice: call Apple and ask for replacement disks (presumably Snow Leopard), boot from that disk, erase drive and reinstall. Then he can buy Lion.

  • I dropped my 2009 MacBook Pro and it will no longer work; I need to re-install the OS software to hopefully restore it: what disk(s) do I use?

I dropped my 2009 MacBook Pro and it will no longer work; I need to re-install the OS software to hopefully restore it: what OS disk(s) do I use?  This may sound like a stupid question but I'm seeking to buy something inexpensive and need to know if a higher version (other than what was initially installed) will work.

    Bekah1996,
since you didn’t receive its original grey installation DVDs when you purchased it, you’ll need to contact Apple directly to purchase a replacement pair. (The grey installation discs aren’t available in the Apple stores.) Some Mid 2009 models originally came with 10.5.7 (Leopard), and some originally came with 10.6.0 or 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard). If yours had 10.5.7 installed, then you’ll probably receive a 10.5.7 set of grey discs from Apple. If you’d like to upgrade its OS to anything newer, then you’d also need to purchase the white retail Snow Leopard DVD — but you should wait to see what Apple sends you, since if they send you a 10.6.0 or 10.6.2 set, you wouldn’t need to purchase the white Snow Leopard disc.
