Hi! I have a kernel panic problem on my macbook pro! Please help me!!!
Hi! At the Apple store they changed my harddisk twice, but they didn't solve my problem.. Every time I try to install applications or to update the software, the kernel panic message appears (you need to restart your computer..etc) and I don't know what to do! I have already sent the signal to apple and verified permissions and when I did the hardware test, it appeared that i have a 4MEM/1/40000000:0xa9facf98 error...
this is the problem when I restart my computer:

PLEASE HELP ME!!
The Hardware Test detected a RAM problem. Take out the chips and make certain that the connections are clean and reinstall them. Make certain that they are well seated.
If the problem occurs again, test with one chip at a time. Also swap bays if necessary.
Please indicate if you have installed new RAM and if so what brand and the specifications.
Ciao.

Kernel panic on 2010 Mac Book Pro - please help
Hey Guys
Bit unsure about what to do ……
In december my computer randomly went to a grey screen and told me it needed restarting, never ever had this happen before …..
I restarted and got a report as to why it was happening .
Never thought anything else about it until it happened a day or 2 later, since then this happens every couple of days and sometimes more regularly, at first it was only happening while I was using safari….. so assumed a bug and kept emailing reports to apple …. However more recently it has happened whilst trying to play a DVD, and whilst trying to access a folder….
My computer is less than a yr old but I don't have apple tech support anymore so to phone them will cost , I don't even know how much they charge. ???
I use my laptop a lot to edit video for clients and do NOT what this happening in the middle of an edit … =( Also if I have to send my computer away this is going to disrupt me a lot.
Ive read a couple of other posts about kernel panics ... and have done a RAM test and a apple hardware test, all which come back ok, I also did a disk verify, which came back at first with errors, but they were fixed and now all seems ok ....
Ive also done all software updates and yet still it happens ...
Tbh Ive found this laptop to be very slow on certain things since I have had it, esp when launching finder …. or the dashboard, it take forever to fill in the information and finder takes ages to fill in the mb in each folder etc or to load the app icons .... and often crashes particulary in the app folder, had assumed it a osx bug ... but now not so sure ... Also often get the rainbow beach ball coming up on simple tasks such as clicking save in a application etc for a few seconds ....
can anyone suggest anything ? ? or what i should do, i dont want this happening in the middle of working on a video project etc .
Can anyone read or understand the panic reports ? ?
15" MBP 2010 2.66 I7 (4GB)
Ive posted the first and most recent reports below … However Ido not understand them

Any help or advice appreciated ..Here is some information that will answer your Kernel Panic questions for every level of interest.
(1) Start here for help understanding and resolving kernel panics: http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/kernelpanics.html
Don't be concerned that OS X 10.6 is not specifically mentioned. This info also applies to SL Macs.
Another KP help site:http://www.index-site.com/kernelpanic.html
Apple's KP knowledge base article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1392
Apple's 10.6 help article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8965.html
In-depth KP info: http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/technotes/tn2002/tn2063.html
(2) Panics are often (but not always) hardware related, so disconnect unnecessary peripherals, check any RAM or hardware you have added, and try the suggestions in the links above one-by-one until you find the one that fixes your problem. If your trouble persist, or if your time is critical, you might want to ask your Apple Service Technician to work the problem for you.

Kernel Panic Issue - mid 2010 MacBook Pro
I need some help with this kernel panic situation I'm experiencing. The number of panics have progressively gotten worse in the past couple months, and had increased to a panic about every half hour.
Today I went to see the Apple Geniuses and they did a complete erase of my hard drive and reinstall of OSx 10.6.8. I have yet to add any new programs since thehard drive wipe. I was actually trying to download Adobe CS6 dmg when my computer had a kernel panic and forced me to shutdown. (I was also running Safari when that happened.)
I was assured by the Apple Genius (on this visit and the one a couple months ago) that there is nothing wrong with any of my hardware. My machine has also passed every hardware test I've done. We thought the initial kernel panic situation was due to 3rd party software from X-rite (Color Munki) as that showed up on my reports.
I don't know what the problem is now since my machine has been wiped.
Can anyone here please help?
Here's my panic report:

The Apple Genius ran a full diagnostic of my hardware today. I ran the Apple Hardware Test a couple days ago. Everything says hardware is not the issue. I'm really not sure what is happening since it keeps passing multiple hardware tests and there are no 3rd party software additions. I have read of other people having OSx kernel panics with 10.6.8.
I did update software that Apple recommended when I turned my computer on -- Safety Update and Java. Other than that, I haven't added any other software since my hard drive wipe (since my CS6 wouldn't complete before the kernel panic). -
Kernel Panic with AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement on Macbook Pro Retina 15
Hello,
I'm getting Kernel Panic with grey "Death Screen". This happends 5 times. On 5-th of January (3 times) and on 8-th (2 times).
All the cases according to Consol reports have similar symphtoms:
panic(cpu 2 caller 0xffffff802aeb7e75): Kernel trap at 0xffffff7face2557e, type 13=general protection, registers:
Kernel Extensions in backtrace:
com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement(196.0)[F79878E3-8CF9-3ACF-B578-2CE 754CA61F8]@0xffffff7face0e000->0xffffff7face36fff
This line (besides many others) is different in reports
BSD process name corresponding to current thread: WindowServer (2 times)
And other one quicklookd, WebProcess and Web Service.
I sent all reports to Apple Support as MAC OS asked me about. BTW I can publish them again here.
Firstly, may be it's possible to figure out the reason of panics: Is this the SW or HW problem?
Guys at service told me to bring Macbook AS IS. But if this is the SW problem I can clean / reinstall OS etc. myself.
And (after cleaning and/or reinstalling) if the problem is in HW I'll be getting panics again. So I can bring to service Macbook with new history of panics.
So what is the probability of HW problem in such a case. When all reports point to the same .kext file.
Thank You in advance.
Cheers,
Victor
P.S.: Computer is new, I didn't change configuration, OS etc.
Installed programs under question: m3tag (Tag Editor - recompiled by somebody from WIndows program with some similar to CrossOver env.)
Adobe FlashPlayer PluginThanks for reply.
Exactly - MP3Tag Wineskin port. I also think that here is the reason. This port is up-to-date (10.8.2 compatible) but very inacurate - I found many garbage in MP3Tag package. And the original Windows program is very old - 1984(?).
I removed this program from computer and I have to get a try for some period of time. -
Multiple kernel panics & black screen on Macbook Pro Retina early 2013
My Macbook Pro Retina (early 2013, 8GB ram, 250 GB hard drive) has been experiencing multiple kernel panics forcing rapid-fire restarts of the computer multiple times within a very short time frame. This is followed by the screen staying black even if the computer is on (keyboard lit up, can hear volume buttons) but nothing is on the screen. Once the screen goes black, I have to employ some combination of manually shutting it down (by holding down the power button) and then turning it back on (+/- doing an SMC reset) to get the screen working again. I also tried a PRAM reset once, but it didn't seem to have any effect, and I've repaired the disk permissions.
This issue has happened multiple times in the past week. It seems to vary as to how long it takes to happen again (could be a few days, could be less than an hour), and it has happened during multiple different activities (surfing the web, using Word, using Mail). I have experienced this both on Mavericks and after updating to Yosemite over the weekend.
I took it to the Apple Store on Saturday and while the Genius saw that the screen was black when I initially brought it in (even though the computer was on), we couldn't recreate the issue and the diagnostic tests he ran showed nothing. It even started back up fine for him. I thought I was OK, until I had another round of kernel panics + black screen this afternoon. At this point, doing a normal restart of the machine results in a kernel panic before it even makes it off of the loading screen and then a black screen.
This time, I checked the logs and saw the panic report included below. I don't know enough about this to understand what it means, but hopefully someone else does! Some internet searching has suggested that it might be a problem with the GPU (and the log below says GPU panic). Help, please!

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. You may have to leave the machine there for several days.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed. -
Kernel Panics with Brand New Macbook Pro
Hey guys,
I've experience two kernel panics since purchasing my Brand new MBP three days ago. I really just want the problem to end, this is a new piece of equipment, it should function perfectly. At the time of the panic I had a Lacie 1TB USB HD plugged directly into the computer, a 4 port usb hub on which a USB keyboard and thumb drive and mouse were plugged in. I was running Transmission, Safari, iTunes and simplify Media. I opened my system prefs to edit my geektool arrangements and the panic happened.
Here's my system config at the time of the panic:

Both panics have been reported to Apple promptly after they happened. Any help is really appreciated. As I said before, I just really want my computer to work with no issue. The thing's brand new!
Also: since the panic I have moved the usb keyboard from the hub to a port directly on the computer.
Thanks for your help!Remove all the external devices you have connected. If any of the USB peripherals required installing software such as drivers, then you should uninstall the software as well as disconnecting the device to prevent panics. If no kernel panics occur after using the computer this way, then the problem is related to one or more of the peripherals you are using. Based on the panic log information the likely candidates are one or more of the USB devices you are using.

Frequent Kernel Panic on Early '08 MacBook Pro
Hey, everyone. I understand that this is a fairly common subject these days, so I'll jump right into it: My MacBook Pro (early 2008) repeatedly has kernel panics that force me to shut down my computer manually (the button in the top right hand corner). This was not a problem in Snow Leopord. Also, I've had Lion installed since its release and this has just now started happening, and frequently too; it occurs every hour or so. Another important note I should add is that my logic board was diagnosed as kaputt roughly three months ago. The laptop ran fine until now. Here's the log I receive on start-up each time a panic occurs:

Any chance anyone can read into this and tell me how to best remedy the situation? I'd really like to not have to buy a new computer, especially until next fall or perhaps this summer.Heart-A-Tact wrote:
May I ask why?
From Wikipedia: A logic board is the Apple equivalent of a motherboard. […]
From Dictionary.app (NOAD):
motherboard |ˈmʌðəbɔːd|
noun Computing
a printed circuit board containing the principal components of a microcomputer or other device
kaput |kəˈpʊt|
adjective [ predic. ] informal
broken and useless; no longer working or effective.
Your "logic board was diagnosed as kaputt roughly three months ago". So, you are using a computer whose main module (which includes the CPU) has been broken, useless, and no longer working for three months. If that doesn't qualify as a miracle, I don't know what does. -
Kernel Panic! Mountain Lion crashes?please help
Since upgrading to Mountain Lion my system crashes. I have 2.53GHz ICi5 mid 2010 MacBook Pro.
Please help, I am getting frustrated and more importantly I lost some work on few occasions as the crashes happened while I was reading mails, working in Microsoft Word or using Lightroom...
This is the report I am got last time:

Keep getting kernel panics on new i7 MacBook Pro
This is really bugging me, I got the new i7 MBP last Thursday and since then I've had four kernel panics.
Checking console > system diagnostic reports > Kernel_yyyy-mm-dd the backtrace for each ends at the following:
+Backtrace continues...+
+Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies):+
com.apple.driver.AppleIntelHDGraphics(6.1.4)@0x11f0000->0x129cfff
+dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.6)@0x958000+
+dependency: com.apple.iokit.IONDRVSupport(2.1)@0x98a000+
+dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily(2.1)@0x969000+
com.apple.iokit.IOSurface(74.0)@0x150e000->0x1518fff
Has anyone else been having kernel panics with the i7s?
Any suggestions on what it could be or what I should do?
From the looks of it it has something to do with the graphics card, maybe the auto switching feature.
Thanks in advance.Tom Torrillo wrote:
Anyway, I contacted support and they say this is the first they've heard of a problem like this and want me to do an archive & install, then an erase & install.
I am loathe to do either of those as I spent three days moving data over and installing my apps. Plus the fact that I got my first KP early on leads me to believe it's not a software issue and I'll wind up just going through all that to get to the ole switcheroo with Apple anyways.
Ummm, no one here can speak for Apple, but I strongly suspect they're going to want to do that before calling it a hardware problem. And after some period of time, it's quite probably going to be a repair instead of a possible replacement at this time. Not sure how that sits with you . . . .
Also, if you're confident of your installations (OS and added software), simply do a clone to an external HD (using SuperDuper, CarbonCopyCloner, or similar), do the A&I and/or E&I, then you'll know if it's soft/hardware, and then you can decide if you want to clone the exact same OS/software back to the MBP. -
Kernel panic and now my MacBook Pro won't boot
My MacBook Pro had been acting a little strange for a while - sometimes applications like Final Cut Express and iTunes would "unexpectedly quit" when I tried to open them and wouldn't work until after a restart. Now, the screen went dim and I got the "you need to restart your computer" message. I did, and it worked for a few minutes, and did it again. Now all it does when I turn it on is chimes, shows the Apple logo as if it is going to start up, and then dies. It is the original Core Duo one so it's out of warranty. Is this the logic board? If not is there any hope of it working again?
Kernel panics are usually cause by hardware problems. Disconnect all devices from your computer & check out the following KB Article & User Tip:

I got a Kernel Panic on my Retina Macbook Pro?
So I'm kinda new to the Mac family because i switched from windows, and im not sure if this caused it but i downloaded google chrome on to my mac and it worked great. But maybe after a few hours i was doing a 4 way chat with my old freinds on google + chat and next thing i knew i got a random kernel panic out of the blue. I assumed it was google chrome because i did some research and some people say google chrome doesnt go well with a mac currently. In the end I uninstalled Chrome and im back to safari, But am I screwed? I dont want my $2,200 investment go kaput over some chat on a different browser. BTW it works fine now but I'm just worried, is this a one time thing because of the sotfware? Or apple gave me a faulty retina macbook pro?
- KyleHey All,
Just recieved my MBP retina on Monday morning. Downloaded Canary late last night and was loving the retina update. Then I got to work this morning...
Got to work, plugged in an external display, my mouse receiver and power via MagSafe1 with 2 adapter. About 30 seconds later, I got my first panic. Figured it was maybe because of how I had plugged in my display almost exactly as I was opening the lid. After that restart, nothing the entire day, which I was using Canary, Chrome 19 stable, Safari 5.1.7 and FF13 (I do QA).
Now I'm home for the day, cracked open the MBP to check a couple things. Launched canary and tried to go to a site, halfway loaded and then hung. Quit, reopened, nothing loaded...Ok, launced Chrome 19 stable and everything was funcitoning as expected. I went back to Canary, same situation, quit, gave it one more go and then kernel panic. Anyways, here's some outputs:
