Hi! I try to download a widget, and I get this:

I get this:
file:///Users/billyromp/Desktop/Screen%20Shot%202014-02-20%20at%208.33.22%20PM.p ng
Which is a screenshot of Apple's widget-downloading page:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/?r=dbw
...with a window telling me:
"(Such and such a widget)...can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer."
Dear Community,
Basically, I try to download a widget and most of them get me this result Some send me to some silly website. I'm on an older macbook pro running the most recent OS updated and everything.
What in the world is going on here?!
I try to play by the rules and look what I get: Unidentified Developers.
Please advise.
Yours,
Billy

It's usually not necessary to change any security settings, and as a rule you shouldn't.
To make a one-time exception to the security policy, follow these instructions. They apply to Installer packages and other installable items as well as applications.
