Hi, my Iphone 4s is no longer picking up the signal from my time capsule, that was after i changed the ip address for the time capsule.

i use to connect my iphone 4s to my time capsule through wirless, for some reason, the time capsule IP address changed and i had to retern it the correct one. when i did this , my iphone stopped connecting to the time capsule wireless . how cn i return the connection to the iphone 4s?

Reset the TC.. use SMB names, short, no spaces pure alphanumeric for everything.
TC name, wireless name, hard disk share name.
Fix the radio channels.. try channel, 6, 11 maybe 1 although I have heard people have issues with 1.
It sounds like the TC is bridged.. make sure the main router dhcp has sufficient addresses available.
There are a few other things but try those and post again if you still have issues.

First thanks for the reply and second sorry about the confusion. I was unable to get the full message out, but here's the problem:
Like I had mentioned, for a long time both me and my Mom had comcast and as soon as I came into both dwellings the phone would automatically jump onto either wifi network. Then a while ago she verison and used the same Belkin router. So there was no problem and my phone jumped on her system as usual, but at some point something happened and when I got home I noticed that the phone asked to be put on my system. I would input the password, but it would say "unable to connect" to the network. I did the standard things like check the network settings on the phone itself and they were fine. Then I did a reset (actually twice) with the same result. It seems like the phone ability to pick-up wi-fi is ok because when I go to my University I can log-in with no problem. The only thing I noticed is when I look at the settings (on the iPhone) for the router at home the whole thing is blank. My question is: Is there a manual way to get the phone to pick-up my router? I need to have it on my network at home because I use DocumentsToGo a lot. Thanks again for your response again and I hope things are clear now. Have a great day.

It still vibrates but no calling sounds or message sounds. It's not on mute and the speakers are working... I can hear music etc.

Quit Safari, find the com.apple.Safari.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder, drag it to the Desktop, log out/in or restart and let us know what happens.

Changing devices is no reason to create a new Apple ID.
All content purchased from iTunes is permanently linked to the Apple ID it was purchased with.
To update apps purchased with the old ID, you MUST sign in with that Apple ID.

IPhone 4 no longer picks up WiFi signal

Has anyone else experienced this?
My iPhone 4 which is less than 2 years old, no longer picks up WiFi unless it is right beside the router. This means I am having to rely on 3G signal in my own home! No other electronic devices in my home are struggling with this issue. This is still an issue when I am in other places with WiFi, the phone ocassionally recognizes that there is WiFi available but by the time it starts to connect all the WiFi signal has been lost again.
I have tried:
- turning my phone off and on.
- updating my phone
- turning on and off my router
- searching for a solution to this online, but it seems I am alone in this issue.
Help! Please! What should I do?

I restored my iPhone and nothing has changed except I have lost several hours of my life trying to make sure everything is backed up and then trying to reset all my apps.
I restarted the iPhone as a new device, still no wifi connection or ability to recognize any wifi networks.

Is it possible to use the iPhone as a modem and pick up the internet ?

I wondered if it was possible to use the airport facility on an iMac G5 to pick up the internet from an iPhone placed near by ? THis would effectively make the iPhone a wireless modem ?
I've not got an iPhone yet and this would be really useful.

The iPhone does not currently support tethering. There was an app that did that, but it was pulled from the App Store after only a few hours of availability, and all such apps have apparently been banned.

According the this: http://www.apple.com/mobileme/transition.html, "After moving to iCloud, family member accounts are no longer linked to the master account." You can share an iCloud calendar (see http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2690), but I don't think you will be able to share iCloud contacts unless you are signed into the same iCloud account on both phones.

I misplaced my iPhone and used Find My iPhone to track it down. It shoudl me a Google type may with my current location and the location of the iPhone; it was located in a ]heavily wooded area a few miles from my home. That was incorrect, Why?

It turns out that was an incorrect location as I eventually found my iPhone in my office three miles in the other direction. If it's grayed out:
Reset Network Settings - if that doesn't fix it, then Backup and Restore AS A NEW DEVICE.
If it's still grayed out, unfortunately that means your Wi-Fi antenna quit, and it needs service.

Why is my iphone 4s taking so long to restore my photos from icloud back up

i restored my phone from factory settings to icloud back up this all worked normally all my apps and everything restored very easily so did my photo streem however on my camera roll it just says downloding and non on my photos are there it just keeps saying dowloding how long will it take for my pictures to appear ? its been like this for hours !!!!! please help

It sounds like it's stuck. If you changed Wifi networks since starting the restore, this is probably the issue. Once you are at a location where you are going to be for a while, go to Settings > General > Reset > erase All Content & Settings > Erase iPhone. On the set up screens that appear next, connect to Wi-Fi and choose Restore from iCloud Backup and start the restore again. Stay on that same Wi-Fi next work until all of you photos are loaded and in Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup you should see "Backup Now" indicating the restore is complete. If you see "Stop Restoring" then continue to stay on the same Wi-Fi until it is complete.
If you have been on the same Wi-Fi since you started restoring the first time and never went out of range, etc. then find another Wi-Fi network if that keeps happening after you try to restore once more per the instructions above.

I'm not seeing my express show up on my 4s at all. The wifi on the phone shows a full signal if I'm in the same room as the express but the phone won't load a web page. When I walk out of the room I lose the signal. What's going on?

It is very possible that you may have some form of Wi-Fi interference in the the area that is preventing your 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) from providing a clean RF signal to your iPhone.
I suggest you perform a simple site survey, using utilities like iStumbler, or AirRadar to determine potential areas of interference, and then, try to either eliminate or significantly reduce them where possible.

Not picking up N signal from router

I recently purchased a NetGear RangeMax Dual Band Wireless N Router. I live in a three-story townhome, with a Mac mini on the first floor and an Imac with Airport Extreme on the third floor. I hooked up the router to my Comcast modem and the router to the Mac mini, which supports G band, not N. However, I shut off airport at the mini so that it was receiving the signal directly through the cable. The router was set up manually, per the instructions for Mac and Linux users. I went upstairs to my Imac and only received a G signal. It also showed that I was only connected on Channel 11, not the higher channels usually subscribed to N standard routers. When I went to check the router, it showed it was set up for Channel 44/5.220GHz on JohnN and Channel 11/2.4GHz on JohnG. I've spent hours on the phone and e-mailing NetGear's tech support people, to no avail. I'm ready to take it back to the store and get my money back. I thought I would try going to other Apple users and see if they have had a similar problem. When I go online with the Imac and it shows available networks, it shows JohnG, along with other neighboring networks, but no evidence of JohnN. The router seems to be operating properly, from what I can, so I can only assume there is something missing at the Imac's end. Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Although I have been using a Mac for years, it belonged to a friend and I went to his office to use it. He has since moved and I bought my own. This is my first time on Apple Discussions. Thanks for whatever help you can offer.

If the iMac has a "Core 2 Duo" processor it can connect to an 802.11n network.
If the iMac has a "Core Duo", G5, or G4 processor it can not connect to an 802.11n network.
