Need Suggestion on Timer in Oracle

Hi,
I need to call a process on a time interval.
Begin
UPDATE USERS
SET
STATUS = 'VERIFIED'
WHERE
ID = :P44_USER_ID;
/* After showing this print message */
HTP.P('<div class="t18notification"><font size="3" color="BLUE">
Your Account registered Sucessfully...!
</font></div>');
/* This message must show after 3 seconds after the above print message */
HTP.P('<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
window.location = "http://sudhir.com/apps/f?p=124:101"
//-->
</script>');
End;
Timer is a new concept to me do we have any such feature which we can use in plsql please suggest me.
Thanks

A COMPLETE page is generated. With ALL content. Then that is shipped of by the web server to the web browser. So putting a delay between 2 HTP.put() statements only slows down the generation of that HTML page - before the ENTIRE page is shipped off to the web browser.
Web browsers are block devices - not typewriter devices.
If you want delays between content rendering on the web browser, you need to use Javascript (executes inside the browser).
If you want to make a web browser act like a typewriter devices, then you need to look at using Ajax calls from Javascript to the web server.
It is important that you fully grasp web-based client-server, when developing web applications - understanding how the HTTP protocol looks and works, and understanding the interaction between client and server works.

I want to set up the Time Machine and I would love to use the Time
Capsule but since I already have a wireless router I need suggestions on
    what other
external disks Apple could recommend to use with the Time Machine and
    how to configure that disk.
A complication that I need to resolve is the fact that I am using Vmware
Fusion to be able to use Windows on my Mac. Now it seems that Time
Machine is not backing up my files
on that virtual Windows without additional configuration and my question
is whether you can advise me here or whether this is only a matter for
    the Fusion virtual machine.

If you want to use Time Capsule you can.. you simply bridge it and plug it into the existing router.. wireless can be either turned off or used to reinforce the existing wireless.. eg use 5ghz in the TC which is much faster than your 2.4ghz.
You can also use a NAS.. many brands available but the top brands are synology, qnap and netgear readynas  series. These will all do Time Machine backups although how well always depends on Apple sticking to a standard. There are cheaper ones.. I bought a single disk zyxel which was rebadged and sold through my local supermarket. It actually works very well for TM at least on Snow Leopard. Major changes were made in Lion and again ML so do not instantly think it will work on later versions. I haven't tried it yet with those versions.
Any external drive can be plugged into the mac. Use the one with the fastest connection or cheapest price according to your budget. USB2 drives are cheap and plentiful. But no where near as fast as USB3 or FW800. So just pick whichever suits the ports on your Mac. Interesting Apple finally moved to USB3 on their latest computers.
TM should exclude the VM partition file.. it is useless backing it up from Mac OS side.. and will slow TM as it needs to backup that partition everyday for no purpose.. TM cannot see the files inside it to backup just the changes.
You need to backup windows from windows. Use MSbackup to external drive.. if you have pro or ultimate versions you can backup to network drive. But MSbackup is a dog.. at least until the latest version it cannot restore the partition without first loading windows. There are about a zillion backup software versions for windows.. look up reviews and buy one which works for you. I use a free one Macrium Reflect which does full disk backups and is easy to restore.. to do incremental backups though you have to pay for it.

  • Need Suggestion On Real Time Data Accees

    Hi,
Our application (let say A) runs on * 8.1.7.4.0*
Another Application (let say B) runs on *10.2.0.4.0*
Both the application A and B exchange data through DB links.
Both the application A and B perform select and DML on other tables.
Application A has views (approx. 10 views) on application B 's table through DB links.
Application B also has views (approx. 50 views) on application A 's table through DB links.
Application A has store procedure (approx 10 SPs) through which it does insert/update on two of application B 's table approx 15K call of that procedure per day.
Application B also calls some of the application A 's procedure to insert/update data in application A 's table.
Currently both the application's data center are at the same place. But, there is a proposal/need to move application B's data center far away from the current location. Because of these we are in a assumption that DB Link over WAN will create performance issue and searching of probable replacement.
After of couple of discussion we have identified approx five application A 's tables which are frequently accessed by application B and expect real time data.
Similarly, Application A expect real time data from two application B 's table.
'Golden Gate' mechanism came in our discussion, butt it's expensive,
Can we replace this store procedure code/dml with web service call or so ??
Can anyone suggest ... what kind of approach we should take here ?

Views which are residing in application A 's side use many internal tables and one or two application B s table.
I don't have idea on 'multi-master replication ' ... is it two way replication ..? ... you aware of any documentation I can refer ..? How costly it is (if you can give an idea) ?
Also, among many tables we need near real time (2 mins interval) replication on 5 tables.
MVs again have dependencies on DB link, which exactly what are trying to replace (assuming performance issue)
With fast refresh (let say 2 minutes interval) method on MVs do you think it could cause performance issue specially when data center are at different location ?

  • Need suggestion on the entire hardware specs for running Oracle VM 2.2.2

    Hi,
I need some suggestion on the preffered hardware specs which can be given to a customer, he wants to run Oracle VM 2.2.2 or Oracle VM 2.2.1.
He has already used Cisco UCS with NetApp storage for OVM 2.2.2/2.2.1 and has being unsucessful with lots of issues creeping up. Thus now need suggestion on the hardware spec which is well tested and works fine with Oracle VM 2.2.2/2.2.1 and he wants to run Oracle Fusion Middleware on top of it.
Any poniters to it will be highly appreciated.

    Hi Avi,
thank you for that information !
Yes. But only for the UCS gear that uses the converged FCoE adapters. If you have standard Ethernet/FC adapters, then it should be OK.We do use the "M71KR-Q QLogic Converged Network Adapter" with UCS. According to you this is an unsupported combination together with OVM 2.2.1, right ?
Now the "Oracle VM 2.2 Validated Configuration Details" shows UCS B200 M1 with M71KR-Q as a valid configuration. Does 2.2 mean OVM 2.2.0 and this is supported, but 2.2.1 / 2.2.2 is not ?
Please clarify since this confuses me.
Best Regards and TIAAny news for me, please ?

  • Need Help to get into Oracle Hyperion Env

    Hi All,
I want to make my carrier as Hyperion Essbase & HFM consultant. Where can i start to improve my knowledge. and I don't have any previous experience in this env. But to improve my knowledge i have read Essbase-6.5 admin guide and hfm admin guide and some basic interview questions stuff of Essbase. but i am not happy with all these. i need some real time scenarios, examples and critical issues. and also can you suggest some of docs which necessary to reed.
I am very thankful to the people who respond to this post..
    Thanks & Regards
    VAMSI

    VAMSI,
    I strongly recommand:
You should attend a training course.
    1. "Essbase boot camp"
    2. "Essbase (EPM) Administration"
to get a basic idea what you are about to work with.
Yes I know, this is very often a question of money...
    But
    3. There are a lot of books such as:
The Series "Look smarter then you are with ..."
"Oracle Essbase & Oracle OLAP" (this is good to learn basics about R-OLPA (Oracle) and M-OLPA Essbase the differences and pros and cons)
Just search google for more books and infos.
AND dont miss out the Oracle documentation!

  • 300 Users: need suggests...

Hi all! I need to configure an oracle database server (9.2.0.4.0) in order to guarantee that 300 users can connect and use the database in the same time... I need suggests regarding hardware (Cluster? Parallel server?)and software requirements to satisfy this request based on your DBA experience.
    Can you help me?
    Thank you in advance.
    Bye.
    Ste.

OLTP is ok, the max workload is 300 users using database at the same time. I think that 9i Enterprise Edition + Real Application Cluster is too expensive... 10g includes Real Application Cluster... Is this right? Then I think the hardware can be like this:
2 server (2 cpu), 2 Gb ram for every server, 1 disk array (4 x 73 Gb) with 2 fiber ports without NAS (for the moment)... Do you know if there is some vendor that sells a system like this for using with Oracle so it is not necessary to buy every device from different vendors and to read long compatibility lists? Do you know any "success case" I can read to find some usefull information regarding the configuration of such a system?

  • Need suggestion

hi....i need suggestion on my problem.i've been given a complete atand-alone java application.my assignment is to make the system,a web-based system so that when we want to make a demo we did not need to bring an installer.just show to from the browser.i thought of using java web start.it's just my opinion.so,i want to hear others opinion......
    Tq

Java Web Start is the solution I would choose. You must bear in mind that a browser is not enough to run Java Web Start - the client PC must have the correct version of the run-time environment (JRE) installed as a minimum - which, I think, is somewhere about a 10-15 megabyte installation.
The run-time environment for end-users is best/readily installed from the http://www.java.com site. Click the "get it now" button and away you go!
Alternatively, I think some PCs actually recognise when you've clicked on a JNLP link and automatically check your to see if you have a version of the JRE and download it if necessary - but I'm not 100% sure if this can be relied upon across all platforms/browsers...
I think you can also program your JNLP file as to where to look for the JRE installer (ie: maybe on your LAN instead of www.java.com), but I haven't researched that one yet.

  • Problem with getting current date and time using oracle.jbo.domain.Date

I`d like to get current date and time using oracle.jbo.domain.Date method getCurrentDate(), but it always return current date and 12:00:00. I also need to get the current time.

I think you should use java.sql.Timestamp domain.

i have taken the data type of this column as varchar2(15) if i take date can i insert the time or varchar2 is ok.Better take column having data type date. You can insert date and time in the date field.
Just you need to change in forms.
Change the Data type Date to Datetime
to show only time, use format mask.

  • Is 000001010000z a valid date time in Oracle?

    Hi,
When working with Open LDAP connection from Oracle, I need to set and remove the value '000001010000z' for locking and unlocking the user account respectively. This is working fine. However, for some calculation, I need to convert this value as a date value which I couldn't do. Is this a valid date time in Oracle? If so how to convert it as a date value.
    Oracle version: 10g R2
    Thanks,
    Natarajan

Thanks, Mithun for your answer. We have the same issue, as an user, we can lock an account using the special value, but unable to unlock using the same user. I have reported this to our LDAP administrator.
Regarding my question using this special value as a date value in oracle, though it is a valid date in the LDAP system, we cannot convert this as a date value in Oracle.

  • HT5096 Need to move Time Machine Backups.backupdb folder from old to new USB disk! Help!

I have followed the suggestions at : Time Machine: How to transfer backups from the current backup drive to a new backup drive - Apple Support
However, these fail - If I format GUID, Mac OS Extended (Journaled), I get an error that case sensitivity must be enabled.
I have unchecked the box "Ignore ownership on this volume" as suggested, so that is not the issue.
This error DOES go away if I (ignoring the article's suggestion" format the disk as GUID, Mac OS Extended (case-sensitive, Journaled).
Then, I can initiate the copy. It will begin copying my 2.5+ Million files (1.66T) but it will begin to fail near the end (28 hrs later) with errors like "__DS_Store already exists" and "Invalid Instruction (100)" and I can't stop or complete the copy. I must unplug the USB cable, as an interrupt or eject will fail as an operation is in progress.
I would appreciate, more than anything, some command line invocation that will accomplish my task. I have tried:
"sudo cp -rP /Volumes/Source/Backups.backupdb /Volumes/Target/" both as a user, and also after a sudo su - as root. All fail, citing permission errors.
There's something special about the way the folder security "goes deeper" than unix permissions, and I can't seem to find a way to copy the stinking folder! Please help! I am looking at the tmutil command but don't see an appropriate verb action for moving a time machine directory.
Any help would be appreciated! I don't really want to "dd" the entire volume!
    Thanks!
    Joe

Update. I used a free control panel ("secrets") to make invisible files appear and was able to find the trash folder on the external drive. I was able to move the backup folder while holding the command key and have had two successful hourly backups. The only problem that remains now is the trash file for the external drive.
In regards to erasing it, that is not really a viable option right now because I am in the process of switching to this new 1TB drive and it has some other folders on it that I may need access to in the next few days. I installed my 500 GB (that I previously used for TM backups) into my intel iMac (5,1).
Before doing that I cloned everything from the 500 to the 1TB using carbon copy cloner. Now I'm just going back and cleaning things up. Which is why I need the ability now to not have things immediately deleted.

Such a high-esteem for fellow human beings - and
    programmers...
You know, there are some good decent nice people
    behind those names?
You'd be amazed at how much testing goes into a product.
    [SNIP]
    g'day Hatter...
Yes, I know there are some good decent nice people behind those names..fellow human beings - and fellow programmers (so yes, I do know...) In previous incarnations I have 'thunk up' and developed, Marketed & supported considerably more complex Apps & systems myself - I even know some of the people you mention personally - and they are usually decent Blokes/women but normally, it isn't the programmers who make the decisions on pricing/features/support/performance/upgrade costs & cycles etc...
My only error was, I agree, the phrase 'without exception' - but (mainly) only because I haven't bought/tested & used all of them very very recently. So I offer my apologies to those to whom my remarks should not apply (long, late night/early morning frustration...)
However, I also offer a few simple pertinent examples:
One 'top name' Utility company had a 'save your Mac HD' product on the market for some time that was almost guaranteed to TRASH it irretrievably but did NOT say so - nor did they help or compensate those they harmed.
Several are selling what amount to simple, pretty, GUI shells for 'free' or OS-included command line tools - no more, no less but do NOT say so and are asking good money for the 'software'.
Many are asking ridiculous prices for "regular upgrades" so you can keep their tool current with your Mac OS - one wants US$100/year for it, another, $15 per u/g, others, US$25 or $40 per u/g; one asks 'only' $10 - and these 'upgrades' are happening 3,4,5,6 times per year and are necessary for the Marketing company to keep their product Saleable to new purchasers and new Macs (as well as for important Bug Fixes - and only co-incidentally to keep it performing with your current Mac and OS - which is what you paid them for in the first place).
I won't pay for a product 3, 6 or 9 times and I won't advise my clients to: It's not unreasonable for a person to expect a 'sensible lifetime/currency' of Product X for Computer Y - say 3 years (e.g. AppleCare). I wouldn't object to paying for an "upgrade" at that point - IF it's worth the money.
Software is Waaay too expensive in many cases and is simply inviting 'piracy' - from people who have already PAID for the product: sadly, they are killing their own Gooses.
Seriously, one product costs ca. US$100 to Buy in the first place
To keep it actually working for you costs about the same again Per Year - a 3 year 'sensible lifetime' or 'currency' cost of US$300 or $400! [That'll buy a lot of 'bare drives' to put in a handy Firewire case for automatic backups in Background, differential backups etc. and other simple practices which render this product type largely unnecessary ].
For what? A relatively simple set of utilities which would actually cost the company involved less than $5 total each - over 3 years - to make available to existing ( or 'current') owners. [Applecare 'complete' Hardware and Software warranty & support on a US$2000 iMac - which includes Tech Tools Pro Deluxe or somesuch costs about US$165 for 3 years. Total.]
Having designed, developed, Marketed, supported & maintained more complex Applications to/for a sizeable user-base (in US terms) over multiple complete Series of Product 'life-cycles' - regular Updates and all, I think I know where the pirates are.
These practices have been rampant in the MSWindows™ market for a longtime. It's a real shame to see it in the Mac world.
I have all the esteem in the world for those fellow human beings who deserve such - and programmers who are 'good decent nice people'.
I have none to spare for monopolists, 'exploitationists' or any of those who take unfair/unreasonable advantage of their fellow human beings - AND of programmers who are 'good decent nice people' (like, say, ME... .
In any event, as I said: they are "killing their Gooses": I know of at least 6 software companies which went this route a while back. All are dead or dying.
Thank you for your help - and the opportunity to apologise for 'mis-speaking'.
    all the best,

  • Convert a Number to time in Oracle

    Hi,

    I have tried
    SELECT TO_CHAR('2342','HH:MI') "Time"

    but it is not functioning.
    Thanks

The Number that i want to convert to Time is of the
columns of the same table and depending on its value,
i want to display it as Time.
Thanks,Well it sounds like you certainly have no clue what you are doing whatsoever. I predict a bright future for you.
Here's some advice. If the column should have a date or time in it then use a date or time type column. If you are creating a variable data type column then ASAP get a book on SQL before you fuck things up worse then you have.
There is no great mystery here. There is the right way (as suggested by WorkForFood) and there is the wrong way (whatever you are doing). So do what WorkForFood told you or just go away because nobody cares to help make a disaster.
