Hi, my photoshop elements 12.0 had been working fine for severeal months on my PC (Win8.1 64-Bit). Since a few days it crashes right after the start. In the Windows event viewer I found following messages:

Ah, I was able to delete it that time. You're right, it was just a matter of timing.
Sadly, the problem persists-- after deleting the preferences file, I opened up a picture and tried to add text with the text tool, and Photoshop crashed again.
Edit: Okay, I tried to reset the text tool, but Photoshop crashes before I can reset it (basically, right after I click). I tried resetting all the tools, but that didn't work. I also held shift to start without third-party tools, but there was no change. Pretty sure I don't have any third-party tools installed, unless they were bundled with Photoshop.

Have you tried closing the Mail app completely ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Mail 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I too have the same problem working property until about January or February this year...get "bad parameter' message trying to open files and then when I did the upgrade this a.m. it will not open at all, just spins and then disappears. I had already tried deleting the review slide itself, though Captivate wouldn't let me - it just hid it. I tried again using the method you recommended but the slide remained in the filmstrip, so I tried deleting again, then re-added it from the Quiz Settings page ... no joy, same behavior as before.
I checked the Advanced Interaction page and confirmed that all of the scored questions were configuredthe same way as the non-scored questions, with the only difference being the pool that they were drawing from.
Other thoughts? I am by no means a Captivate expert but this one really feels like it shouldn't be this hard, and I'm more than a little afraid that it's the file itself that's jacked up ...

Wondering if it has anything to do with the router, my provider or our computers. Again, it had been working fine. I am also unable to open interent explorer now on either computer.

I’m having an intermittent problem with my midi controllers triggering Mainstage 3.
I’m using a PreSonus Firebox audio interface.
It’s been working fine for months, but now when I first turn on the computer in the morning , I’m not able to trigger MainStage from the keyboard. I tried different midi controllers, different keyboards, different midi cords, and check midi preferences. The audio interface is working fine and is recogonized, but the midi doesn’twork. I re-started the computer several times and then finally it miraculously starts working again.
I’ve been having to this every day now. Any help or ideas is very much appreciated.

I Had the same problem with a FireStudio. Try unplugging the FireWire plug and the power plug. Wait for a few seconds, then plug both back in. The light on my FireStudio was flashing blue/red which means "not connecting." I did what I just described, and everything works again. Hope it works for you.
