Hi my question is the macbook 15" with retina display the one has a price tag of $2199 is it final price or is there any other expenses?

pls tell me

Call a local store and ask them. Or, use the online store and select the computer and options you want. Then go to check out. The total price will be shown to you. Either buy the computer and options at the price shown or don't.
I believe Toronto has sales tax and GST.

  • Would i be better going for a Macbook Pro with retina display or one without for a 15 year old teenager?

I'm unsure of what to get my son for his birthday, he is a 15 year old teenager doing GCSE's at the moment and needs a laptop for work. this would be his first one, but he uses a desktop a lot, the mac book would be used for programming, some CAD work, a bit of gaming and watching movies but as you could appreciate i don't want it to be too expensive, has anybody got any idea's? P.S. if i was to get the non retina display version, how long would apple support security updates and OS upgrades (E.g. to OS X Yosemite) for it?

Other than refurbished units (which are usually very good buys) the only non-Retina model currently sold as new is the 13" MacBook Pro, which still has an optical drive, user replaceable RAM and hard drive, etc.
If you're going to go the non-Retina route, I might suggest searching for a 15" 2012 non-Retina model. It seems to be the most stable model that's been made, lately. Like the other non-Retinas, you can upgrade the RAM and hard drive yourself and it, too, comes with an optical drive.
Either a new machine or a refurb will be supported for a long, long time, I imagine. I don't expect my 2011 model (non-Retina, of course) to be out-of-date for the next 3-5 years, for instance (if the machine actually lasts that long - 2011 15" & 17" models have not had a good track record).
Check out the refurbs here -> http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac?afid=p219|GOUS&cid=AOS-US -KWG-MAC. You may be able to find a good 2012 refurb that would serve your son well, with the full one-year warranty (and eligible for AppleCare extended warranty).
    Good luck,

Yes,  You may also need an ethernet cable.

  • What cable do I need in order to migrate from Macbook Pro (December 2008) to the new Macbook Pro with Retina display?

It's driving me crazy; I have a firewire, but it isn't compatible with the ports on the new macbook pro with retina display.

I wish to know from Apple,
These are user-to-user forums where everyday folk post "technical" questions and offer answers to each other voluntarily.  No one here works for Apple nor does Apple get involved in responding.
You can either contact Apple Care since you are still under warranty or click on the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of this website.

  • What exactly does the AppleCare cover for MacBook Pro with Retina Display?

I purchased the extended protection plan for my MacBook Pro with Retina Display 15" and my question is what exactly does it cover in what kind of situations (i.e. viruses, damaged ports, damaged charger, etc.)? I want to be able to take full advantage of the protection plan since it was a pretty big whole in my wallet.

AppleCare covers all the problems you have with your MacBook Pro with Retina display and the peripherals which came with it (your charger) if you have a hardware problem that you didn't cause. For example, after 2 or 3 years and 1000 charges, OS X says that your battery has to be replaced: in this case, you have to pay for the battery, because batteries have got a lifetime, and Unibody Macs batteries have got an average lifetime of about 1000 charges.
However, if the RAM gets damaged and you haven't done anything to cause it, you will get your computer repaired or replaced for free. AppleCare in a MacBook Pro with Retina display is very important, because near all the parts are soldered into the logic board and repairs are expensive

  • MacBook Pro with retina display battery question

I recently bought a 15" macbook pro with retina display, and was wondering if my battery is working as it should.
I usually get about 3:03 hours with brightness at full and keyboard backlight at full with skype (not using it but on),safari with 6 tabs, twitter, and mail.
Oh and im also watching a youtube video on 720p.
    My question is this:
Is the battery life supposed to be like this?
ON mountain lion 10.8.2 and a lot of people are saying i should be at about 5-8 hours.
    Any recommended solutions?
    EDIT
Just after i finished writing this my battery time estimate went up, its now 4-4:50 hours left

When I use my MBP on battery, I turn screen brightness down to about four bars and keyboard backlighting down to a single bar. I usually only have open a handful of Internet apps (Firefox, Outlook, etc.) and spend most of the time simply web-surfing, watching very few videos. And I can get almost 7 hours out of a fully charged battery. When new, I was getting 7+ hours, but with 182 cycles and the fact that the computer is 8 months old now, that's not bad.
Turn everything down as low as you can stomach and you should get a good 6 hours of battery time, if you keep your video to a minimum and use the built-in graphics card (to force this, use gfxCardStatus).
    Good luck,

  • The quality of built-in camera on macbook pro with retina display is far worse than any other mac. Why?

I just got the new macbook pro with retina display like a week ago and I've been noticing that the quality of the built-in camera on it is so bad.
It's even worse than my 2009 iMac or my sister's 2012 13" macbook pro. I don't get why this is a facetime HD built-in camera when i can obviously see that is not even near HD. Or is it just my computer. Do i have to bring it to the apple store??

it's advertised 720p so yes it is the same as all the other MBP.  it may just be the resolution of your monitor is stretching the pixels.  Don't worry about bringing it to the apple store.

  • Is there a way to digitize audio using the headphone input on the 15-inch (late 2013) Macbook Pro with Retina display?

I'd like to digitize audio from a minidisc player into my 15-inch (late 2013) Macbook Pro with retina display, but can't see a way to change the internal mic input.  I understand that previous MacBooks allowed the headphone jack to double as a mic input, but mine doesn't seem capable of switching.  I've tried using a mini to mini cable, with no luck, and also tried using a headset splitter adapter (3.5 mm 4-pin to 2x3-pin 3.5 mm headset splitter adapter from Amazon) because I read that that would allow me to plug in headphones and input audio.  But in both cases, the only "input" available in my sound preferences is the built-in internal microphone.  Am I missing something?  Is there a way to digitize audio through the headphone jack?

Not likely. headphone jacks are usually output only devices unless specifically stated to support input, and even then, it may not be audio input that they support, but merely control input for volume and such.
You can get a USB audio input instead. i.e:

I know many have this issue but i can't find a solution to the problem. i get message saying insuffisiant disk space in the volume iPhoto library and i have plenty of space available. i have the new macbook pro with retina display. i have never seen this message before and i have 2 other macbooks and have had many other also. i am assuming this is a problem with the new macbook retina. does anyone know the exact fix to this issue? i have seen many sugestions to try to fix this issue but none have solved the issue for anyone that i can find in the Apple Support Community. thank for looking into this in advance.
    ******A true apple fan********

Actually your suggestions are the ones that i have tried. i have seen that you have tried to help others with this issue and the only one that i could find that said they found the problem said that it was an ilife update issue and it fixed it and i have no available updates. i know it has to do with something in photo stream because it happens when i create a new library and it is loading the photos but i get the message before i reach the maximum 1000 photos. so i've tried updating, new library(first backing up photos and then deleting them from iPhoto), reinstalling OSX many times, running disc utilities. I called Apple the first day i had this issue and i was the first person to call them for support with the retina display and i actually had it escalated to a senior advisor and we thought we fixed the problem but we did not. i am pretty fluent in dealing with troubleshooting these type of issues and this is the first time i'm reaching out to the community. i figured now that the retina has been out some time now that there would be an obvious answer to this issue. thanks for the quick reply.

  • On my MacBook Pro with Retina Display, Why does the "USB Devices Disabled Unplug the device using too much power to re-enable USB devices" keep coming up after I unplugged the usb device?

On my MacBook Pro with Retina Display 15", that I purchased a few weeks ago, started coming up with the following message on my desktop:
"USB Devices Disabled Unplug the device using too much power to re-enable USB devices".
I unplugged the device and the message still keeps coming up.
This is what I have done so far to troubleshoot:
I shut down the laptop. When booting up I pressed the command+option+p+r at the same time. It comes up with a menu to reinstall OSX, Get help online, Run Disk Utility, etc. I choose the disk utility and repair the disk and then restarted.
The message keeps popping up and I can't seem to get rid of it. Why does the message keep popping up even though I don't have any devices hooked up to the laptop at all? Any help to reenable my usb ports and get rid of the messaage would be helpful.

I talked to Apple Support and we at least stopped the bleeding, a little bit. These are the troubleshooting steps I did before I contacted Apple Support:
    1. Reinstalled OSX
    2. Restore the last known good Time Machine Backup.
This did not fix my issue, so I called Apple Support and they told me this:
    1. Turn Power off.
    2. Wait 15 seconds.
    3. Plug in Magsafe adapter.
    4. Wait 15 seconds.
    5. Hold down the Shift+Option+Power Button for 20-30 seconds.
    6. Turn Power back on.
Ok, this stopped the bleeding a little, but as soon as I plugged in a Apple USB Superdrive
and a Apple Mini Displayport to VGA Adapter. This "USB Devices Disabled" pop-up pops up like every 30 minutes now. At least, it is not constantly popping up after I close it, so I guess it will do for the temporary. Going to contact Apple support, later, though to see what else can be done.

  • I have purchased a MacBook Pro with Retina display, but it will not arrive within 30 days of my purchase. Does this mean I will not be able to update the software to Mountain Lion?

As already stated, I have recently purchased a MacBook Pro with Retina display. It will arrive in 4-5 weeks so I don't assume it will arrive in less than 30 days. I would like to know wheather I will still be entitled to a free softwere update to the Mountain Lion. The laptop will ofcourse be completely new and recently purchased, so it would be very disappointing if I am not entitled to this update. Please let me know if you know anything about this or have any assuptions. Thank you

You can call apple if you need reassurance, but they will not turn you down on the free upgrade just because you have not received your computer by day 30.
