I have just updated my ipod to the latest upgrade but then had to restore it to the factory settings wiping all my music, could you tell me how to download it from my laptop to the ipod,a m not having much luck figuring it out.

To synce media from your iTunes library see:
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
Unless you restored the iPod on this computer/iTunes library yoo may not be able to sync music and videos using the manual method.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Please can anyone help me get them back with all their data. I don't have wifi at home and I have never been able to sync my pc with my ipad, although it works with my iphone! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my problem.
Yes the purchases were made though my apple id.
I have looked at a few other questions on this topic and I have read that the app data is stored in the backup file but the apps themselves need to be synced back onto the ipad. Someome has mentioned right clicking on sync my ipad but I don't know where to find that to right click on!! Lol.
Again, I really appreciate your time and if by any chance you know where I can 'right click' I would really appreciate you letting me know as I can't get my ipad to sync with my pc at all, although it is being picked up in itunes and it has backed up to itunes okay. GGrrr. Maybe I have something wrong in the settings which is not making them compatible?

You ought to have backed up your data before nuking Windows...
You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

Why can't i see my movies in "Previous Purchases" I bought the movie 6 months ago and just recently watched it- i had to restore my ipod and my computer becasue the both broke. now i can't see any movies, only apps, songs, books, and tv shows.

OK i will explain my whol situation.
My computers hard drive broke, so i had to get a new one.
My itunes from the hard drive is gone now.
MY ipod was disable to the point where you must plug it into the same itunes on the same computer it was last synced on.
i had to restore my ipod.
i re downloaded itunes.
i got into my account.
i re downloaded all songs, apps, books, tv shows, and pod casts.
IT WON"T SHOW ME MY MOVIES.
i looked in my purchase history so i know i bought it.
i went back to "Previous Purchases"
it still doesn't give me a category for movies.
i really need to get that movie back because it was 9.99 and i refuse to let my money go to waste!

Films can currently only be downloaded once from the store, which I think is a requirement from the film distributors, so they won't show in the Purchased section for re-downloading. Have you not got a backup of it on, for example, an external drive or CD/DVD ?

If you got the message that you need to connect to iTunes, there is no choice now but to restore the iOS software. Yes, you can restore from a backup after you restore the iOS software.
You can only restore now by connecting to your computer and using iTunes, and at the end of the restore process, you will be asked if you want to restore from your iTunes backup to which you will say yes and then sync your iPad as well. Syncing will transfer all of your apps, music, movie, books, photos etc, back to the device. If you do not backup and sync with iTunes, you can still restore from an iCloud backup after you restore the software in iTunes.

I can't restore my iPod from the iCloud- HELP!

I just got a new iTouch because my old one broke. I'm trying to back it up from iCloud but when I select "restore from this backup" and select the name of my old iTouch, I get this error message:
The backup "..." cannot be restored to this iPod because the software on the iPod is too old. To restore this iPod from this backup, you must first set up the iPod as new and restore the software to the latest version.
I set the iPod up as new, but it hasn't offered any software updates and I don't know how to look for updates. Thanks!

What model was the old iPod?
What model was the new iPod?
The new one has to be same or newer model than the old iPod
First just set the iPod up as new.
Then update the iPod by going to Settings>General>Software Update
After upodated go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting. \When done setup by restoring from iCloud backup

I did back up my computer and then put everything back on ( or so I thought) but it did not work properly ( I don't know why) maybe I hit the wrong button, but know on my back up for iTunes it is the one I have on my computer now without all my music and photos. It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Certainly you did not restore your computer without making sure that your backup copy was up to date.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

It's weird that you have to restore from backup, and then choose to start as a new phone. But I didn't lose ANYTHING when I did it that way! Thank goodness!
