Please find your Mac Model Identifier from About This Mac -> (More Info) -> System Report -> Hardware and compare it to the following list. If your model identifier appears in this list, you can only install Windows 7.

Either your security software is blocking access to Apple's servers, or your computer was used at some time in the past to hack or jailbreak some iDevice (not necessarily the phone you are restoring), and your computer's network database has been corrupted. If you know this is the case edit your "hosts" file and remove all lines containing "gs.apple.com". If you are sure it is not the case temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall.

Serial numbers for older versions do not work across platforms.
At one time, when the product was current, you could get Adobe to switch you to the other platform, but I don't know whether Adobe will do that for old versions. I do know it's not going to work if you try to use your Windows license for a Mac installation.

If you want to stop sending reports to Apple and developers when apps crash, then go to System Preferences, click on Security & Privacy and click on Privacy. You will then see on the left side of the window an section for Diagnostics & Usage with the option to turn off sending crash data to app developers. Whenver I try to DL the Windows drivers from Bootcamp Assistant, I get a pop up that says "This Mac only supports Windows 7. Do you want to continue?". I click continue, but the download always fails stating "Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server." and the utility shuts down. This has happened for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 iso's.
I've chatted with support online and they basically led me through the steps of resetting the SMC and PRAM, but this has not worked.
The odd thing is, Bootcamp assistant was able to download the drivers successfully the first couple of times, only to fail during the installation of Windows, with the infamous "Can not load boot configuration" error. Ever since those first couple of times, I am unable to succesfully download the drivers.
Frustrating...any ideas?The first time I installed windows 7, I had no issues what so ever. Then I decided to installed windows 8.1. So I went ahead removed the windows 7 partition via BootCamp. When I tired to install windows 8.1, I ran into the exact same issue. I went ahead and tired to reinstall windows 7 and the issue persisted.
Would be nice to find a solution for this problem. -

Is the iPad a cellular capable model? You don't mention this. Check here using your Model # on the back of the iPad. It's pretty small so you may a magnifier to read it.

Upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mavericks failed - disk is damaged and can't be repaired.

I'm afraid the answer is exactly what I don't want. But here is my situation.
I've been trying to download and install Mavericks - I was running Snow Leopard. My system was working fine - I wanted to upgrade so that I could run a game on it - but it required Mavericks.
Finally, it looked like Mavericks was installing. Once I restarted my computer, I got the following message:
"Install Failed. OS X could not be installed on your computer (there's a big scary yellow triangle with an exclaimation point in it below this). The OS X upgrade couldn't be started because the disk Macintosh HD is damaged and can't be repaired. After your computer restarts, back up your data, erase your disk, and try installing again. Click Restart to restart your computer and try installing again."
Every time I restart, I get the same message, I can't back up my data and erase my disk like it wants me to; it won't let me. I can't get back to my normal computer. I've tried restarting in Safe Mode, but it doesn't work - it just keeps restarting over and over again. If my computer is really this determined to not let me have Mavericks, fine, but I at least want my old computer back. As it is now, I can't do anything on it besides restart it.
If I could just get to Finder, I could save some files and just reformat it - if the hard disk can be repaired. Even if it can't, I just need my documents. Here is the Installer Log:

Thank you for any help you can give me.You are never going to have the option to repair a disk if you are booted from the same disk.
I think the place to start is boot off your Snow Leopard DVD install disk by holding down the C key on boot up.
Under Utilities drop down menu you will have access to Disk Utility.
From here you will have the option to repair Disk (ie not grayed out.)
option: Either insert and wait for the Mac OS X Install DVD window and double-click the Install icon; or power down, then start up while holding down the "C" key. Either way, that takes a few minutes. -
When I try to download the new iTunes for my iPhone 5, a pop up message comes saying i need 10.6.8 or higher. But even after I bought and installed snow leopard, it still comes up with the same message.

Hi all,
I am (belatedly) attempting to upgrade my trusty mid-2008 aluminum macbook from Leopard to Mountain Lion. (I know the question says the product is Mac OS X (10.4.10), but it is not). I understand that Snow Leopard is required, so I ordered the installation disc from Apple and attempted installing it - but unfortunately the Superdrive seems to have taken a turn for the worse - it usually spits the disc out after about a minute of attempting to read, and sometimes makes it to the installation screen but then says the DVD is damaged (which it is not: Pretty much every CD/DVD is sputtering in my drive).
So, I did some researching and found that you could transfer Snow Leopard to a usb drive, boot from there and then proceed to install the OS. I went and borrowed my friend's pc running windows vista (there are no macs around), and attempted to put SL on the usb drive - but apparently the format(FAT) the drive was in only allows sizes of up to 4GB. So I formatted the usb drive to NTFS, got SL onto the drive successfully and attempted to boot from it - no dice. It seems you can only boot from the previous format the drive was in, FAT (I could be wrong on this).
So, I have two questions:
1: Is there a workaround for this NTFS/FAT issue so that I can get Snow Leopard onto my computer with only the usb drive, my computer and my friend's pc? SL is currently on the usb drive in NTFS format.
2: If not, is there a quick and dirty way to try to fix the superdrive without taking it for repairs? The computer is honestly on its last legs, and I am not willing to fix everything that is wrong with it. I have an external hard drive with everything backed up, but unfortunately I will not be able to get to it for at least a month so that is not an option.
Thanks in advance!NTFS is a Widows only file system. Mac OS X can read it, but not write to it, and certainly not boot from it.
FAT32 is read/write on both platforms, but as far as I'm aware you can't boot from it.
To boot an OS X system you need to format on a Mac as GUID partition Map and Mac OS Extended (Journalled) file system (aka HFS+ (J) ).
As to whether the optical drive is repairable, without hands-on no-one can say for sure. I assume you've done the basics of cleaning the laser heads and such. -

Yes, you can do that. To be in compliance with the Lightroom license, it needs to be installed on only two computers. But there is no activation/deactivation process for Lightroom. I have had a great experience with UPAD. You can take notes on PDF files as well as use your finger or a stylus to take notes on a variety of blank page backgrounds. You can then email your notes as a PDF if you want. I know there are other features, but those are the ones I typically use.
What I really like is the writing interface. You can pick line color and thickness. Whe writing area is magnified so you can write easier and the text appears normal size on the page, though I believe you can write without the magnified area to if you want to. You can easily move the writing area where you want it, and it is easy to keep uniform indentation for lists and columns.
It's easy to start using in minutes. I got my iPad last year right before a huge national conference where I wanted to take notes in a lot of educational sessions. I also did not want to lug all the handouts with me across the country. I found UPAD after some research and decided to give it a try. I downloaded all the handouts right before I left. I was able to figure out how to take notes on a PDF as well as create a new notebook for other content during the speaker introductions. And when I got home, I sent some notes to a colleague. All very easy.
I'm sure the description in the app store is much more helpful, but I wanted to share some examples. -
