Hidding Button Text & Highlight Thumbnail

I'm fairly new to DVDSP. I would like to create buttons that do not show the text and have the border highlighted when you mouse over (or use a DVD remote arrow buttons).
I would like to create a chapter index template that I can use build a chapter index. The problem is my chapter names are really long and there is no reasonable way to show them. Thus, I want to eliminate the chapter name text from the buttons.
The only way I have found to "get it done" seems to create the chapter index, then manually remove the button text for each button. To get the remaining button to highlight, I seem to have to choose a shape like "Picture Frame Rectangle White".
I could deal with deleting the text, but I don't like any of the border highlight shapes that I have found as the ones that seem to both highlight AND show the still or motion are not what I'm looking for. Something like "L Shape Highlight" could work, if only it was programed to show still/motion.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When you create a chapter index by dragging a track with markers onto a button on a template, hold it and select "Create Chapter Index" from the pop-menu then select a index template. If you use any of the Apple supplied templates, such as "Brush Index", it creates the appropriate index pages. Each index page has buttons to access the specific chapters. All the buttons on these index pages seem to include the chapter name (as set in the chapter marker) and most include a preview of the video starting at that chapter index.
The chapter names I assigned are the names of the people in the video clip. When there are 2 or more names, it is too long to fit in the space allotted for the chapter title in the chapter index. It does not make sense in this context to name the chapters something short that could be displayed on the chapter index. Instead, I would like to tell DVD studio NOT to display the chapter names on the chapter index, thus only displaying the button with the video preview.
The only way I found to prevent the text from showing is create the chapter index, then, delete all the text in each button, leaving only the preview.
The problem with this approach is most of the button styles change the TEXT highlighting when the button is selected. When there is no text, you can not tell which button is selected.
As a result not only do I want to turn off the text for the buttons, I also want to be able to have the a highlight show on the non-text portion of the button.
Let me try to provide a visual for this: you look at the Apple Template "Brush Index". Remove the text from each button. Next, instead of having the text change color in the "Selected" and "Activated" show a colored border around the video preview when Selected or Activated. That's what I'm trying to do.
I have not found a good way to accomplish this seemingly simple task in DVDSP using the Apple provided buttons and templates. Hopefully I'm missing something and there is an easy way to do this.
NOTE - this is a trivial task in other programs (i.e. Nero Vision for Windows). The reason need to use DVDSP is this is the only application I have that supports multiple video angles.

  • Acrobat Forms - javascript to hide/unhide text box if any one of a number of radio buttons is enable

    I have a form which I am designing in Acrobat 9 which has a section where there are three questions, each with a pair of radio buttons - one for 'yes' and one for 'no'. They are in the style of a check box (with a tick). I need some help to write some code which will unhide a single field (or multiple fields if I need to use something similar at a later date) if any one of the 'yes' radio buttons is checked. So if all three radio buttons were checked, the field would be hidden but if you then changed your mind and clicked a yes button, the field would be visible.
    I am new to this so any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance! I hope that i have explained this clearly btw.

    For ease of maintenance you might want to make the above script into 2 doucment level JavaScript function. One could set a return value to the result of the caparison and the other could show/hide the text field based on the result. Then a call to the show/hide function could control the show and display of the field(s) and and a call to the function for the results of the comparison could be used anywhere else and not change the field display property.
    funciton Test3RB() {
    // set logical result based on result of test
    var bReslut = ((this.getField("rb1").value == "Y")|(this.getField("rb2").value == "Y") |(this.getField("rb3").value == "Y"));
    return bResult; // return value of logical test
    } // end funciton
    function ShowText() {
    // assume field not to be shown
    this.getField("textbox").display=display.hidden;
    if (Test3RB() ) {
    this.getField("textbox").display=display.visible;
    } // end if true
    return;
    } // end ShowText function
    You mouse up action for each button could be:
    ShowText();
    And if you could test the logical value returned by the function somewhere else and did not want to modify the display field:
    if(Test3RB() ){
    // action for true
    } else {
    // action for false

  • CHM buttons are not localized in a French project (shows English Contents, Index, Search, Print, Hide buttons)

    I opened an old WinHelp project into my new RoboHelp 7. When
    I generate the CHM, even with the Project Settings in RoboHelp set
    to French and running in a French Windows operating system (MS
    Windows XP Pro 2002 SP 2), the CHM output is still in English. The
    buttons display in English (Contents, Index, Search, Print, Hide
    buttons). The title bar of the CHM also says &quot;HTML
    Help&quot; even though the project title in the Project
    Settings is &quot;Aide en ligne...&quot;.
    My Windows Regional Settings through the Control Panel -
    Regional Options tab is set French (France). On the Languages tab I
    under Text Services and Input Languages, Details button, I selected
    French (France) French. On the Advanced tab I selected French. Then
    I rebooted.
    On the language bar on my Task pane, I selected FR. The CHM
    still displays in English.
    Please help! I have to produce 4 CHMS in languages other than
    English today.
    Thanks!

    GinaL, would you be able to give us an update? Did the CHM
    files look ok on a PC with a true French OS installed?
    To avoid having to rewrite everything, I've written the
    following info/instructions for my team -- though I'm not yet sure
    they're 100% correct:
    After I reported this issue to Adobe, they worked on the
    problem for several days. They even sent me a new
    HtmSingleSourceHtmlHelp.dll file that was supposed to solve the
    problem. But it didn't work correctly. No matter what contortions
    we put ourselves through, we couldn't get both of these items
    correct in the CHM file at the same time, namely:
    Index compiled in correct alphabetical order accdg to the
    language of the help project.
    Correctly translated help title showing in the caption,
    regardless of the user's Windows regional settings. (For example,
    we wanted "FORMS-Hilfe zu FORMS 5-3" to appear as the caption of
    the German version of FORMS help, even if our regional settings
    were set to English.)
    I think we'd all agree that the index has to be in
    alphabetical order. So from what I've seen, this is what we have to
    do when compiling a non-English version of help using RH7:
    1. Set up the project with the foreign name.
    2. Set the language in the project settings. And in the
    Project Settings dialog, click Advanced and check out the LNG File
    tab to make sure it's using a translated version.
    3. Ensure that the Window Caption setting is correct in each
    window included in the project. (On RoboHelp's Project tab, open
    the Windows folder, double-click each window in turn, and check the
    settings.)
    4. Set the Language setting in the HHP file to Language=[hex
    value for that language]. I found a bunch of them listed on this
    web page. Someone else might be able to find a better source:
    https://svn.origo.ethz.ch/scoop/es_scoop_60/library/i18n/locale/nls/i18n_nls_lcid_tools.e
    5. Change your Windows regional settings to the same language
    as the help project. (Reboot if prompted.)
    6. Recommended, for safety's sake: Delete the CPD file.
    7. Open the project and compile using RH7.
    8. Check the index's sort order -- is it in alphabetical
    order according to the language of the project?
    9. Check the help caption -- make sure it's not "HTML Help".
    Note: Any customized buttons in your CHM should appear
    correctly translated, but other buttons (Contents, Index, Search)
    still appear in English -- at least they do on my PC, even though I
    did step 2 above. We need to check whether those buttons appear
    correctly when the PC is actually running a true foreign version of
    Windows, and not just with temporarily adjusted Windows settings.
    OR -- is anyone else able to get these to appear translated in the
    CHM file?
    Does anyone have anything to add? Other solutions? Easier
    procedures? Better results to report?
    Thank you
    Eileen

  • Hide Button if Field Empty

    I have a view which I create a new button. I'm using a JSONModel to bind data to the button like so:
    var btnCall = new sap.m.Button('btnCall' { text: "{PHONE}",
         press: [oController.onCall, oController]});
    Not all records have a phone number, in that case I want to hide the button (setVisible(false)). Can you folks provide or point me to an example that does this? In the view, I tried to read the button text with getText(), but it's empty, I think because the data is binded after the view renders. This seems so simple, but I'm missing something.
    I should have prefaced, I'm new to MVC and OOP. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I am wondering what would be the requirement for this? Is it for SplitApp Controls's 'Back' button in Detail page? For Phone an Desktop scenarios? If yes, there is an easy way to do that.
    If not, you may do binding for the 'visible' property of the button. Example:
    oControl = new sap.m.Button({
      text: "{PHONE}",
       visible: {
      path:"PHONE",
      formatter: function(fValue) {
      if (fValue)
           return true;
      else
         return false.

  • Can't edit button text - 6.0.2

    iDVD 6.0.2
    I'm unable to edit chapter button text - I can't select individual buttons, therefore can't highlight the text to change it. Clicking on a button selects the main title for that screen, not the button. "Select All Buttons" will allow me to change font/size for all the buttons on that menu, but not edit text. I'm using the "Fun" theme. Any help would be appreciated.

  • JFileChooser's approve button text changes when file

    I have a JFileChooser used for loading some XML file(s). We want the approve button's text to be "Load". When I bring up the dialog, the button text initially reads "Load", when I select a directory, it reads "Open", if I select a file again, it goes back to "Load". So far, so good.
    The problem comes when using it in a non-English language. When I bring up the dialog, the button text initially reads the appropriately translated "Load". However, when I select a directory, it changes to the English "Open". I do not see a method to use to adjust this text. Am I missing something, or is this a bug?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Here's some code I'll put into the public domain:
    package com.graphbuilder.desktop;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.util.Stack;
    import java.util.Vector;
    import java.util.StringTokenizer;
    import java.io.File;
    <p>Attempt to improve the behaviour of the JFileChooser.  Anyone who has used the
    the JFileChooser will probably remember that it lacks several useful features.
    The following features have been added:
    <ul>
    <li>Double click to choose a file</li>
    <li>Enter key to choose a file after typing the filename</li>
    <li>Enter key to change to a different directory after typing the filename</li>
    <li>Automatic rescanning of directories</li>
    <li>A getSelectedFiles method that returns the correct selected files</li>
    <li>Escape key cancels the dialog</li>
    <li>Access to common GUI components, such as the OK and Cancel buttons</li>
    <li>Removal of the useless Update and Help buttons in Motif L&F</li>
    </ul>
    <p>There are a lot more features that could be added to make the JFileChooser more
    user friendly.  For example, a drop-down combo-box as the user is typing the name of
    the file, a list of currently visited directories, user specified file filtering, etc.
    <p>The look and feels supported are Metal, Window and Motif.  Each look and feel
    puts the OK and Cancel buttons in different locations and unfortunately the JFileChooser
    doesn't provide direct access to them.  Thus, for each look-and-feel the buttons must
    be found.
    <p>The following are known issues:  Rescanning doesn't work when in Motif L&F.  Some
    L&Fs have components that don't become available until the user clicks a button.  For
    example, the Metal L&F has a JTable but only when viewing in details mode.  The double
    click to choose a file does not work in details mode.  There are probably more unknown
    issues, but the changes made so far should make the JFileChooser easier to use.

  • Toggle button text

    Hi there,
    I have a button that is rendered using an alternative template, I am trying to toggle the text when it is clicked, using javascript, in the optional url redirect section I call a javascript fuction like so...
    javascript: myfunction(this)
    in the function, I have tried changing the text of the button, but the this parameter appears to be undefined, and there is no way to access the page item via the +$x+ function because there is no id rendered on the page for the item. Any help woudl be much appreciated, thanks... Anil
    Edited by: aparm on 29-Apr-2010 08:01

    I don't have an onclick event because the button is template based and is rendered as an anchor, and the function show/hides a control in addition to which I would like to change the button text. Is this possible in apex?
    Thanks...

  • Text Highlighter

    Seriously, can nobody figure out how to make IND highlight text ie word-style? I have 700 different body text figure references, 70 different authors with varying ages and eyesight and bold/italic just doesn't cut it. How hard can this be?

    InDesign CS5:
    No I mean when I'm typing plain old body text in a text frame, I want to Highlight several words of text the same as if you had used a highlight pen on a hardcopy. I understand I can use a style and turn the text bold, italic, red, etc. - I want the background behind the text colored (without creating a text box, cell or some other "object". And I responded here because when I did a search on the forum for "text highlighting" it told me I should use this forum. My apologies if this is the wrong place.
    Pariah Burke, in his book, "Mastering InDesign CS5," says that to make figure references stand out - you can apply a highlight effect behind the reference (ie, Figure 8-213, to aid you in finding the right locations to place figures in lengthly text documents. I can't figure out how to do that. As much as I hate Word, it has a one-click text highlight button that makes text look as though it were marked with a highlighter.
    thanks, gofigyer

  • Button Text options

    Okay I have been working on C3 for 2 months. Subscribed to
    Lynda.com...ran tutorials checked every help link. The Fireworks
    Help function stinks. Editing button symbols, here's what you get
    when you querie button text.
    "Fireworks button symbols are a special kind of symbol. They
    have two kinds of properties: some properties change in all
    instances when you edit an instance of the symbol, and other
    properties affect only the current instance. Here's what you get
    when you querie button text.
    Fireworks button symbols let you take advantage of the
    convenience of symbols yet allow you to edit certain properties of
    a button instance, such as text, without affecting other
    instances."
    Just fabulous, really.....How? Adobe tells me that it can be
    done.....just not how.
    I import a 3 position button from the library. I use the 9
    slice tool to set the button size, enter the text in the properties
    box. Tried to change the font, style or even use the fonts in the
    styles tab....no luck. I'm just
    trying to make a few buttons for a web page, why is it soo
    hard? Why does the help link not walk you
    through the process? Nothing in Lynda.com tutorial.

    Click on the button to select it, and then change the text on
    the 'TEXT'
    line in the Property inspector.

    Double click on the button to open the button editor window.
    Change the
    font properties in the Properties inspector. Return to page

  • How do i use the text highlighter on web pages

    I want to highlight some small print on a banking web page to email. The print is too small and will be missed if not highlighted. I have installed the text highlight add on in my tool bar but don't know how to use it.

    Hi Trease,
    Check to make sure that is it is not disabled in the about:addons page of your browser window.
    There are a few addons with that name, but I would also take a look at the description on its addons.mozilla.org page if you still have it.

  • Changing quiz button text

    I am working on a series of tutorials and quizzes for our
    client, I want to change the text on the "Next" button on the
    quizzes. It appears easy enough, in the options, Next button text
    field, I have entered what I want, but it still appears as "Next"
    when I publish it. Am I an idiot?
    Please help.

    This may be a stupid question, but did you save the file
    before you published? I have sometimes had instances of not saving
    and publishing first and my changes are not reflected.
    Also, if the buttons were already on the screen with the text
    "Next" when you decided to change the button text, you'll need to
    delete those buttons and then add them again. The text does not
    update dynamically.
    Worst comes to worst, you can manually change the button text
    with a double-click or through properties...
    Hope that helps.

  • Button Text on Form not Displaying

    The following was posted by PGMR1998 at 09:58am on Feb 22, 2008 (Pacific) but got no response:
    I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 8, and I have added a button to reset the form fields. The button has some text on top, but the text on the button does not display until I click down on the button in the preview pane. How can I make the button text visible always? Thanks in advance for your support..
    I'm having the same problem with the submit button on a form in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended. No matter what I do, the button text does not display. Any ideas?

    What font are you using? What is the font color set to? What font size? Can you post a sample somewhere?
    You specify the label text for a button using the Options tab of the Button Properties dialog. Describe each of the settings on this page. In particular, you can have a different label for the Up, Down, and Rollover states.

  • Unable to define Radio Button Text field & unable to change column position

    Hi,
    While designing a screen in Screen Painter, I am unable to define Radio Button Text field as this option is not there in Graphical Element. And also I want to specify the starting position of column of that element different from the default value, but I am unable to define that because the field is non-editable.
    Can any one please help me out.
    Regards,

    Hi,
    Please find below the sample program from ABAP docu :
    PROGRAM demo_dynpro_input_output.
    DATA: input  TYPE i,
          output TYPE i,
          radio1(1) TYPE c, radio2(1) TYPE c, radio3(1) TYPE c,
          box1(1) TYPE c, box2(1) TYPE c, box3(1) TYPE c, exit(1) TYPE c.
    CALL SCREEN 100.
    MODULE init_screen_100 output.
      CLEAR input.
      radio1 = 'X'.
      CLEAR: radio2, radio3.
    ENDMODULE.
    MODULE user_command_0100 input.
      output = input.
      box1 = radio1.
      box2 = radio2.
      box3 = radio3.
      IF exit NE space.
        LEAVE PROGRAM.
      ENDIF.
    ENDMODULE.
    Here radio1(1) TYPE c is defined within the program but in the element list there are RADIO1 element exist. One is actual radio button and the other is Radio Button Text.
    I am not able to create that radio button text using same object name.
    Please suggest.

  • Simple Button.Text not changing properly

    Hi all,
    The WPF learning curve is steep.
    I have pulled my hair over this simple Button.Text change and I can't get it to work.
    In WinForms this works:
    Public Class Form1
    Private Sub BTN_1_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles BTN_1.Click
    BTN_1.Text = "CLICKED BUTTON 1"
    BTN_2.Text = "CHANGED BY BUTTON 1"
    End Sub
    Private Sub BTN_2_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles BTN_2.Click
    BTN_2.Text = "CLICKED BUTTON 2"
    BTN_1.Text = "CHANGED BY BUTTON 2"
    End Sub
    End Class
    I want to do the same thing in WPF
    <Window x:Class="MainWindow"
