Hide 1/1/0001 from Short Date in Workflow email

All
Using InfoPath and SharePoint 2010.
I've various date fields on my InfoPath form which can be left blank. These date fields are published to SP successfully as blank (to the human eye).
When I place the date field (short date) in a workflow created email, the date returns in the email as 1/1/1/0001 . This I understand is workflow default behaviour.
Can this value (1/1/0001 be hidden or replaced with a "blank".
I've 6 date fields in this email, any one of them could be blank. Is there an alternative to write multiple email combinations?
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/cd1f9ae5-9edb-4b66-b3fa-8fbdb1dc6cb9/email-from-workflow-contains-110001-120000-am-for-items-empty-date-field?forum=sharepointcustomizationprevious
I'm trying to set a variable in place of a blank date fields yet all I get back is an alternative date 1/1/1900.
Thanks
W

Hi Wilkies0105aw,
I'm also having the same issue. Did you find any solution to hide date 1/1/0001 in the workflow email?
Please let me know.

  • How To Hide Time Selection Box from Advance Date Filter in Powerview

    Hi Experts,
    Is there any way to hide Time Selection box appearing in Advance Filter mode for Dates in PowerView??
    Thanks and Regards,
    Mukesh Singh

    Hi Mukesh,
    We can click the Advanced Filter Mode icon on the first to the right of the field name in the Filters area to switch between basic and advanced filters modes. At this time, we can select date and time in the selection box. But there is no such feature for
    us to hide the time selection box in current release of Power View.
    As per my understanding, we can select a time that has no impact on the data in the time selection box to work around this issue.
    Thank you for your understanding.

  • Problem with ArrayLists and writing and reading from a .dat file (I think)

    I'm brand new to this forum, but I'm sure hoping someone can help me with a problem I'm having with ArrayLists. This program was originally created with an array of objects that were displayed on a GUI with jtextFields, then cycling thru them via jButtons: First, Next, Previous, Last. Now I need to add the ability to modify, delete and add records. Both iterations of this program needed to write to and read from a .dat file.
    It worked just like it was suppose to when I used just the array, but now I need to use a "dynamic array" that will grow or shrink as needed: i.e. an ArrayList.
    When I aded the ArrayList I had the ArrayList use toArray() to fill my original array so I could continue to use all the methods I'd created for using with my array. Now I'm getting a nullPointerException every time I try to run my program, which means somewhere I'm NOT filling my array ???? But, I'm writing just fine to my .dat file, which is confusing me to no end!
    It's a long program, and I apologize for the length, but here it is. There are also 2 class files, a parent and 1 child below Inventory6. This was written in NetBeans IDE 5.5.1.
    Thank you in advance for any help anyone can give me!

    BalusC -- The line that gives me my NullPointerException is when I call the "DisplayProduct()" method. Its a dumb question, but with NetBeans how do I find out which reference could be null? I'm not very familiar with how NetBeans works with finding out how to debug. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.The IDE is com-plete-ly irrelevant. It's all about the source code.
    Do you understand anyway when and why a NullPointerException is been thrown? It is a subclass of RuntimeException and those kind of exceptions are very trival and generally indicate an design/logic/thinking fault in your code.
    SomeObject someObject = null; // The someObject reference is null.
    someObject.doSomething(); // Invoking a reference which is null would throw NPE.

  • How to create a .mdf SQL Server database from a Data-Tier Application file that has data?

    This is a noob question, though I do use SQL Server databases all the time with Entity Framework when I code in C# using Visual Studio 2013.  The development environment is found below at [A].  I am trying to make a clone of a SQL Server 2008 R2
    database (.mdf)  that exists online.  I can read, connect and work with this database in Visual Studio 2013, but I wish to make a local copy of the database, as an .MDF file.  Somewhere in my notes I have a way of creating a local copy from
    an online database when using Visual Studio but I forgot how (it seems, reviewing my notes, that it deals with ADO.NET which is deprecated in Visual Studio 2013 these days, or so it seems).  So I'm looking for another way.  What I did was create
    (or export) a "Data-Tier Application File" from the online SQL Server database, with data, and it seems to have worked in that this Data-Tier Application file exists on my hard drive and seems to have data in it ("SQL Server Replication Snapshot"
    is the format it seems).  It contains skeleton code to create a database, but when I tried to execute it with SQL Server 2014 Management Studio, I got a bunch of errors.
    So my question is:
    1) Can I somehow create a .MDF SQL Server Database from an Data-Tier Application file that has data?  What tool do I use?  I saw this link, http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/2639.how-to-use-data-tier-application-import-and-export-with-a-windows-azure-sql-database.aspx
    and it relates to Azure, but is there a tool for C#Visual Studio 2013, standalone?
    2) If there's an easy way to create a .mdf SQL Server Database file from an online file, within SQL Server Management Studio?  I don't think so, since it would require Administrator permissions on the online server, which I don't have. I have permission
    to read, update, delete the online database file, but strangely not to download it (the service I use has a tool for backup, but not for download).
    3) same question as 2), but for Visual Studio 2013?  I don't think so, since I notice none of the templates even mentions ADO.NET anymore, but instead they go with Entity Framework.  Using EF I can of course do anything I want with the online database
    (CRUD), but it remains online.  Maybe there's a switch to make a local copy?  I guess I could write a short program to suck all the data out of the online database and put it into a new, duplicate database having the same tables, that I create on
    my localhost, but my question here is if there's an easier way than this, maybe a tool or command I can run from inside Visual Studio?
    Any advice on any of the above questions is appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Paul

    Thanks but these links are too general to help.
    "2. what do you mean by online file?" - I mean the SQL Server database file is on a remote web server that I rent from, but I am not the administrator of.  I can access my database using SQL Server Authentication, but nothing more.

    What do you mean by too general? It explains on how you can use data tier application to create and deploy databases

  • Short Date Validation Javascript

    For those of you who use the nls_date_format = MM/DD/YYYY date format and want the same functionality for validation as isDate found in 9iAS, here is a function that you can use. It works in WebDB 2.2 as well. It checks for a valid date, including leap year adjustments, and allows for "short" short dates: if just the month and day are entered, a year assumption is inserted. Two digit years are corrected to four digit years with an assumption as well. Any date separator syntax is allowed as well, for example if you prefer dots (.) or dashes (-). Try it - pretty much any date that is "close" is corrected to the proper format. Here it is:
    function isUSShortDate(e){
    tda =new Array(31,28,31,30,31,30,31,31,30,31,30,31);
    v=e.value;if (v==""){return true}
    r= new RegExp("\[^0-9\/]","g");v=v.replace(r,"/");
    a=v.indexOf("/",0);b=v.indexOf("/",a+1);
    ndd=new Date();nfn=ndd.getFullYear();nfs=nfn.toString()
    if (a==-1){err(e);return false}
    else{ims=v.substr(0,a);
    if (ims.length>2){err(e);return false};
    if (ims.length==2){rms=ims};
    if (ims.length==1){rms="0"+ims};
    if (b==-1){l=v.length-a-1}else{l=b-a-1}
    ids=v.substr(a+1,l);
    if (ids.length>2){err(e);return false}

  • Creating a short date

    This is what I'm doing currently
    Date today = new Date();
    String sDate = today.toGMTString();
    System.out.println(sDate);How can I write a short date? Like 31/11/01? Can someone show me off the top of their head? I've looked at some examples on this website,but I can't understand where they are coming from, because they all use arrays and print 100 different styles. I just get lost....

    Try this ...
            Date today = new Date();
            SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyyy");
            String shortDate = sdf.format(today);
            System.out.println("Short date = " + shortDate);

  • Hide run-time prompt in composite data form in 11.1.2

    Hi, I am using Planning 11.1.2, and the rule with run-time prompt I attached to a composite data from can't execute successfully when I selected "Hide Prompt" and "Use Members on data form". It says "An error occurred while attempting to run the following business rule on save". But if I set this rule to be run on save in a single data form, not a composite one, the rule could be run successfully. Is this a bug or does anyone know how to solve this? Thank you.
    Regards,
    Jerry

    Hi, I had the same problem and I did a Service Request to Oracle. This is a bug. Unfortunatly, I do not think there is a solution to fix this problem.
    The 11.1.2.1 version fixes this bug.

  • Creating XML from raw data

    I am trying to create xml from raw data. It works well in the format builder but

    Okay, I've got some coding off a site that looks like it will do what I want. It's quite a robust applications which will do more than I need but as long as it does at least what I want, i could care less. As it will extract files from the datastream for me, it is going to save them to disk.
    I believe I have to specify a directory to save it to. I believe this is the line I'm going to modify, so assuming that's the case, how do I specify a directory here:
    private File fileOutPutDirectory = null;
    Do I have to use absolute paths or can I use relative. Also, what directory construct is expected by java? Anyone with an example of what urls are supposed to look like in this case?
    Thanks,
    destin

  • Is there a way to hide (mask) public connections from displaying?

    Would like to hide (mask) public connections from being displayed on Disco Connection page, but still display private connections
    for our Disco Plus/Viewer users. Reason is...We have SSO enabled and publish Discoverer portlets (Single Worksheet, List of Worksheets) on our
    enterprise portal pages. The List of Worksheets portlet requires us to use a public connection to publish the portlet in order to be displayed
    via viewer by other SSO users otherwise, the other SSO users would be prompted for a password whenever we use a private connection to
    publish portlet. Same problem for the "Analyze" link on the portlet. There is a doc to hide both private/public connection, but we are looking to
    hide only the public connection. Anyone run across this situation when using Disco Portlets?

    **Recommend that you make sure you have the Connection key for each of your Public connections before you hide them. Open Discoverer Plus or viewer and click the "Show" then write down connection key. Raju j

    to avoid that use the following code.
    data: itext like SMP_DYNTXT  .
    itext-TEXT = 'Logoff' .
    itext-ICON_ID = '@15@' .
    itext-ICON_TEXT = 'Text to be displayed on the Button' .
    itext-QUICKINFO = 'Quick Info' .
    move: itext to sscrfields-functxt_01 .

  • Report Builder Wizard and Parameter Creation with values from other data source e.g. data set or views for non-IT users or Business Analysts

    Hi,
    "Report Builder is a report authoring environment for business users who prefer to work in the Microsoft Office environment.
    You work with one report at a time. You can modify a published report directly from a report server. You can quickly build a report by adding items from the Report Part Gallery provided by report designers from your organization." - As mentioned
    on TechNet.
    I wonder how a non-technical business analyst can use Report Builder 3 to create ad-hoc reports/analysis with list of parameters based on other data sets.
    Do they need to learn TSQL or how to add and link parameter in Report Builder? then How they can add parameter into a report. Not sure what i am missing from whole idea behind Report builder then?
    I have SQL Server 2012 STD and Report Builder 3.0  and want to train non-technical users to create reports as per their need without asking to IT department.
    Everything seems simple and working except parameters with list of values e.g. Sales year List, Sales Month List, Gender etc. etc.
    So how they can configure parameters based on Other data sets?
    Workaround in my mind is to create a report with most of columns and add most frequent parameters based on other data sets and then non-technical user modify that report according to their needs but that way its still restricting users to
    a set of defined reports?
    I want functionality like "Excel Power view parameters" into report builder which is driven from source data and which is only available Excel 2013 onward which most of people don't have yet.
    So how to use Report Builder. Any other thoughts or workaround or guide me the purpose of Report Builder, please let me know.
    Many thanks and Kind Regards,

    Hi Asam,
    If we want to create a parameter depend on another dataset, we can additional create or add the dataset, embedded or shared, that has a query that contains query variables. Then use the option that “Get values from a
    query” to get available values. For more details, please see:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd283107.aspx

  • How do I pull just the year from a date?

    I'm trying to pull just the year from a date and cannot figure out how this can be done. I tried the SUBSTR fuction but its not acting how I would expect. What I'm wanting to do is write a condition that says Item Birth Year = Current Year minus 23 I have a calc that figures the age from the difference in the birthdate and current year but I'd really like to just write a condition based just one years. Can this be done?

    Hello
    SUBSTR will only work on a string. To extract portions of a date you need to use the TO_CHAR command.
    To get the year you would use this: TO_CHAR(the_date,'YYYY')
    TO_CHAR takes 2 switches, the date to be manipulated and the portion to be extracted, with the portion in single quotes.
    Once you get used to manipulating dates like this other common pieces are: DD - extracts the day of the month, MON extracts the 3 character code for the month.
    Thus you can use this: TO_CHAR(sysdate,'DD-MON-YYYY') and it will convert the current date, June 7th 2012 to 07-JUN-2012
    Hope this helps
    Best wishes
    Michael
