Hide blank rows

I am trying to skip displaying a row if the value of a field is blank. Here is the details:
I have an XML file that has 5 Fields, a, b, c, d, e. Data in field D can be quite long, so I want to display field D on a separate row, but not every record has a value for field D. So, the output should look like the following:
a, b, c, e
d
a, b, c, e
a, b, c, e
a, b, c, e
Currently, I have 2 rows in a table, but what is happening is that if D is blank, I am getting a blank row:
a, b, c, e
d
a, b, c, e
a, b, c, e
a, b, c, e
I want to remove the blank row if D is blank.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Here is the XML, where ISSUE_NOTE is field D in previous threads:

  • Hide Blank Rows in a Pivot Table in Outline Form in Excel 2010

    In Excel 2010 Pivot Tables, using the Outline Format and Repeat Item Labels, is it possible to hide the rows with no data?  Please see atch.

    Hi,
    If you want to hide these subtotal rows, you have to use the Tabular forum, the Tabular layout is very similar to Outline except that you will not
    have subtotals at the top of every group.
    1.Right-click an item in the pivot table field, and click Field Settings
    2.In the Field Settings dialog box, click the Layout & Print tab.
    3.Check the 'Show item labels form in tabular form’
    check box.
    4.Click OK
    Then your pivot table layout should look like the image below:
    Let us know if that’s what you wanted.

  • Row Visibilty won't hide blank lines

    I am using SSRS 2008.  I have some rows in my resultset that are blank.  I set the row visibility to =iif(Fields!SomeRow.Value = "",TRUE,FALSE) and I set the toggle item to the row above it.  It still shows a blank line.  Has anyone else
    had trouble with this.  It works fine in ssrs 2005.
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi Frustrated with SSRS,
    The thought of hide blank row through customized expression in row Visibility properties is right,
    the root cause of blank rows still appears is that  you select a table row on the surface design and set the Visibility, but it doesn’t hide the actual table rows. Please follow the details as follows.
    1.      Click
    on the small triangle, which is locate in the lower right corner of the report design surface, and select “Advanced Mode” to show static members.
    2.      Select
    the “static” which represent the row that you want to hide when it is blank in the “Row Groups” pane which is in the left bottom to open properties window.
    3.       In
    the Properties, click the Hidden drop-down list from Visibility property, select <Expression…>.
    4.
    Type in the expression:=Iif(Fields!SomeRow.Value = "",TRUE,FALSE).
    After you complete above steps, you could find that the blank rows are hidden.
    For more information about this ,please refer to the Robert’s profession blog:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/robertbruckner/archive/2010/05/02/report-design-shrinking-hidden-static-columns.aspx

  • Intermittent Blank Rows coming in BI Publisher Report output

    Hi,
    We are working on a BI Publisher report output.
    Issue
    The report sometimes creates a blank row along with the headings of the report columns. Table has multiple records and between 2 records we have a data being displayed which is optional. When this record is null, it is creating an extra space and hence creating a new page with the headers and a blank row.
    Reducing the space is one issue we have thought of. Are there any other pointers to this.
    Thanks
    Ishani

    Hi,
    I did not got the complete thing but as you told you need to remove the blank space in the report and at the same you told when a column returns null the row get displayed as blank row.
    Then can you try using the Conditional region so that when ever you find the column value as null so you can hide that row.
    Just try it i donot no if your requirement is exactly like this or what.
    Thanks.

  • How to add a Blank row ?

    Hello Experts
    I probably have a very simple question - but i just need to kno :
    What is an option if i want to leave a blank row as a seperator between data sets in my report output ?
    I have to report on the portal and this would be a BI 7.0 Query.
    Please suggest
    Regards
    Shweta

    well - I was looking for an option to use the query designer to do this. so i created a structure in the rows and added a Key figure to it and after that i wanted to blank out the values by using cell definition and saying hide results there.
    However ; i see some issues here
    1. the cell definition box on my query is grayed out - any idea why ?
    2. what if i want to add key figures in columns - since i am using them in a structure in the rows - i can not use them in columns - but actually - i will want key figs in columns - so then the alternative that i am using is not feasible - so what can i do then ?
    I don't think i will use WAD or web template.
    what do you suggest ?

  • Blank rows on page after header but before body?

    I've got a "blank row" at the top of my pages using a certain page template. From the template, my header is :
    <html lang="&BROWSER_LANGUAGE.">
    <head>#HEAD#<title>#TITLE#</title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_9/theme.css" type="text/css" />
    <style type="text/css" >body {background-color: #EEEEEE;}</style>
    </head>
    <body #ONLOAD#>#FORM_OPEN#HERE1
    Then my template body is :
    HERE2<table background="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#TOP_BAR.PNG" width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" summary="">
    <tr>
    <td align="left" valign="top" >
    Any page that uses this template renders as follows :
    HERE1
    HERE2
    ... rest of page
    Why is there a gap between HERE1 and HERE2? How can I get rid of this? My application needs as much real estate on the page as possible.
    Thanks for any advice,
    Matt

    After playing with this issue for a while here is what I have to add. This issue with Smart Web Printing is not happening when I use Yahoo, AOL or another search engine. It only seems to happen 90% of the time when I use Google & only if I "hide" Smart Web Printing & then "show'' it again (I like to "hide it while I browse so I have more screen area to view web pages). If I start my browsing session through Google and do not "hide" Smart Web Printing all is usually functioning OK. Once I  "show" Smart Web Printing, no good. As soon as I "show" it the balance of the screen where the web page should be turns to a blank white page, as soon as I "hide" Smart Web Prining again the web page is immediately back. Note: this does not happen 100% of the time (about 90%). Uninstall & reinstall did not help, and at one point it did work properly with Google (about 1-2 months ago). Searched all over this site, Google & the web no answer yet.  Maybe some update/conflict somewhere, I can't find the answer yet. Its probably something silly easy that I am missing. Any ideas?
    Will post back if I find an answer.

  • Hide zero rows

    Hi all,
    Need to hide all rows from 114 to say 500 where there the sum is zero in column D.
    Note any blank rows should remain unhidden.
    Thanks,
     - Mike

    Hi
    Try this...
    Sub HideRows()
    Dim lst As Long, i As Long
    On Error Resume Next
    Application.ScreenUpdating = False
    lst = Cells(Rows.Count, "D").End(xlUp).Row
    For i = 114 To lst  'lst is your last row with data, you can change that for 500
     If Cells(i, 4).Value <> "" And Cells(i, 4).Value = 0 Then
        Cells(i, 1).EntireRow.Hidden = True
          End If
          Next i
          Application.ScreenUpdating = True
    End Sub
    'This macro is to unhide all the hidden rows
    Sub UnHide_Rows()
        Cells.EntireRow.Hidden = False
    End Sub

  • How to hide blank columns in datagrid?

    Hi,
    I have a datagrid nicely populated with data.
    But I have some colums which are blank (the columns have a
    Header but the rest of its rows are blank).
    I want to hide these columns so that users can't see them.
    Note that the blank columns are not fixed. Sometimes it can
    be that a column is blank but at other times it can be filled.
    So I cannot use... "<... visible=false>
    I need to loop thru the columns and then hide the blank
    columns.
    Anyone has an idea how to code for this loop.
    Thx

    Well..from what i know, the datagrid supports the syntax to
    allow for you to specify the columns explicitly through the
    DataGridColumn. Done like this
    <mx:datagrid>
    <mx:columns>
    <mxdatagridcolumn datafield = "Column 1 name" ..>
    <mxdatagridcolumn datafield = "" ..>
    <mxdatagridcolumn datafield = "" ..>
    </mx:columns>
    </mx:datagrid>
    why dont you specify the columns you want using this. that
    way, if there is no data in the colums, that column just wont show.
    Hope i am understanding you right when you say hide blank
    columns

  • Insert  Blank row  After every Row  in alv report

    How to insert blank  row After every row  in Alv report

    what do you mean by a 'blank row'? ALV displays tabular data with 'any' number of columns. Now if you actually want a blank row (no columns at all, just a row), then that is just not possible. If I'm not mistaken, this question was posted before, so try to do a search on SCN. See what is says.

  • Hide multiple rows in a dynamic table based on the row value.

    Hi,
    I need to hide multiple rows in a dynamic table based on the specific value of that row.
    I cant find the right expression to do that.
    please help

    Go to the Row Properties, and in the Visibility tab, you have "Show or hide based on an expression". You can use this to write an expression that resolves to true if the row should be hidden, false otherwise.
    Additionally, in the Matrix properties you should take a look at the filters section, perhaps you can achieve what you wish to achieve through there by removing the unnecessary rows instead of just hiding them.
    It's only so much I can help you with the limited information. If you require further help, please provide us with more information such as what data are you displaying, what's the criteria to hiding rows, etc...

    Hi,
    As far as I know, if we follow your steps: Page Layout settings > Page Setup > Print title> Sheet>Rows to Repeat at Top,  we can set the row labels to every page, please see the below image:
    We can see the row labels with page layout mode, but it does not display in Print Preview. Please try to save it as PDF or print it to see the row labels with every page.

    Thnaks

                 Hi there ,
                 If you 're working with advance table then you have an default option to create a blank row , please through topic 'add another row '
                 in jdev guide .
                 If you are working the regular table region then you might follow the below code suggested .
                 Create a new item of the type button ( not submit button ) and handle the event in PFR of your controller class
                String addRow=pageContext.getParameter(EVENT_PARAM);   //  "addRow " is an event attached to table
                if("addAnotherRow".equals(addRow))
                      am.invokeMethod("AddRow");
              In AMimplementation class :
       public void AddRow()
        OAViewObject headerVO = (OAViewObject)getsdaPacelineWorkupHeaderUpdateVO1();
        sdaPacelineWorkupHeaderUpdateVORowImpl rowh = (sdaPacelineWorkupHeaderUpdateVORowImpl)headerVO.getCurrentRow();
        rowh.getPacelineHeaderId();
        OAViewObject lineVO = (OAViewObject)getsdaPacelineWorkupLineUpdateVO1();
        Row lineRow = lineVO.createRow();
        Row lineRo = lineVO.last();
        lineRow.setAttribute("PacelineHeaderId",rowh.getPacelineHeaderId());
        lineRow.setNewRowState(Row.STATUS_INITIALIZED);
        lineVO.last();
        lineVO.next();
        lineVO.insertRow(lineRow);
        lineVO.setCurrentRow(lineRow);
        lineVO.setCurrentRow(lineVO.last());
      Note : Replace your vo name in place of sdaPacelineWorkupHeaderUpdateVO1()
       Please let me know if you have any questions .

  • ADF Toystore question:  no blank row in viewobject on "Add" JSP form

    A new thread based on Suggestions for Automatic Commit/Rollback
    In the ADF Toystore application, I did not notice the blank row behavior in the user registration section like we encountered in the other thread posting (Suggestions for Automatic Commit/Rollback To test this, I created another instance of the Accounts viewobject (called it AllAccounts) inside the ToyStoreService app module and then created a JSP to list the contents of the AllAccounts viewobject. Then, I went to the registration page (which creates a blank row in the view object with a status of STATUS_INITIALIZED) and then without submitting the form, I clicked on the link that I created to view the contents of the AllAccounts view object and noticed that a blank row did not appear. What is causing a blank row to appear in our discussions in the other thread (Suggestions for Automatic Commit/Rollback but not in the ADF Toystore application? I guess somehow this row with a status of STATUS_INITIALIZED is being "removed" but I cannot find the code that does this.
    Steve -- any ideas?

    I was trying to figure out what would be the best practice to implement 'partial rollback'. Could not really find the example in Toy Store demo. For example if we create new account, the model will get dirty. And let's say user does NOT commit the record but rather uses link and navigates to some other pages. After some work user may commit the transaction which in turn will commit blank entry in account table. Well for the sake of example let's assume that this is possible scenario.
    So what I am up to is how to implement 'cancel' operation when user changes his/her mind and does something else rather then commit/save_changes in new/edit screens? What would be the best practice?
    What I have done so far is rather too bulky. I have implemented event handler for all my links and cancel button in data page:
       * "Cancel" Event Handler.
       * @param ctx The DataAction context
      public void onCancel(DataActionContext ctx) {
        HttpServletRequest request = ctx.getHttpServletRequest();
        BindingContext bcc = HttpBindingContext.getContext(request);
        DCBindingContainer dbc = DCUtil.findBindingContainer(bcc, "modifyAddSchedulingUIModel");
        DCIteratorBinding studentCat = dbc.getIteratorBinding("AddModifyScheduleView1",null , "AddModifyScheduleView1Iterator");
        Row currentRow = studentCat.getNavigatableRowIterator().getCurrentRow();
        currentRow.refresh(Row.REFRESH_REMOVE_NEW_ROWS | Row.REFRESH_WITH_DB_FORGET_CHANGES);
        dbc.getApplicationModule().getTransaction().commit();
        String target = "individual";
        ctx.setActionForward(target);
      Any other idea?
