Hiding a Section and Dashboard Page

Hi
I have two questions
1) A section has to be hidden, not based on user nothing to be done dynamically, temp i have to hide few sections on a dashboard page.
2) A dashboard page is to be hidden dynamically, when I say dynamically it is not based on user or something. It is based on Env where our code gets deployed.
we have internal and external envs. In external Env one of the dashboard page should not be displayed. I don't want to maitain two webcats as it will increase the maintenance...somehow i want to deploy same code but want to dynamically hide the dashboard page.

Exactly the same answer for both questions:
ad 1) Simply take away the permissons for this section. Let only Admins see the section and specify "No Access" for the other web groups. Section -> Properties -> Permissions...
ad 2) Guided navigation. Create a variable which specifies the environment you're on. Then create a report which returns rows when you're "Internal" and none when you're "External". Then control the section in question with that guided nav request:
Section -> Properties -> Guided Navigation... -> "Reference Source Request" = TRUE, "Source Request" = YourGuidedNavRequest, "Show Section" - "If request returns rows"

    I have a fairly simple form that has some header information and then 6 fields that repeat an unknown number of times, then a second page of summary information. I have two issues that I can't resolve:
    1. How do I set up the repeating rows to flow to a second, or third page if I run out of room on the first page? I still need to show the 2nd page after this data.
    2. How can I set one of the columns in this instance to be hidden/visible based on a user selection (checkbox) in the header area?

    Anytime you modify a library symbol you are modifying all instances of it.  You'll need to go thru the code to see how things like text and/or frame numbers are defined.  Unfortunately, with AS1/2 code can live on objects which can make it difficult to find at times.  So not only do you need to check the timeline code but you also need to click on the objects (or objects within objects) to find code living on them.  On top of that, there is a general tendency for templates to be poorly designed - especially if they are free.  So you might have an even harder time trying to reason out how the file works.

  • Blank space between Detail section and Page Footer - How to remove it ?

    whenever we run this crystal report it leaves space in between  after employee information (Detail Section) and before Page Footer.We don't know its a problem  of footer or any other else.
    When i preview and print out the reports
    it showing Detail section 10 Rows (which satisfying condition) and then Blank space and then at the bottom of page shows Page Footer (which contain 2 subreports).
    Let me know if you need aditional information on this.
    pls provide suggestions.

    Try with this
    1. Suppress any unused sections in both sureports and in the mainreport.
    2. Check all the fields fits the sections. Select all the fields in the section and give align top and make all the fields of same height and make it fit to the section.

    If we deliver answers and dashboards to customers and they customize it further, how can they upgrade to next release's dashboard and answers?
    I want to know where are dashboards and answers stored so that we can provide an upgrade script.

    Hi User,
    If a user creates queries and dashboards they are stored in the Catalog, this is in the OracleBIData>Web>Catalog folder. If you drill down into thsi folder you eventually come to the individual xml files.
    The repository, (.rpd) is in the OraceBI>Server>Repository folder, the two can be maintained independantly. If your customer wants new data sources or tables adding to their RPD, you can merge these changes using the Admin tool, any changes here will not affect existing content in the dashboards, as long as the existing presentation layer is not altered. Assuming they do not maintain the rpd themselves, they could just send you an existing one for you to edit then replace theirs?
    What it sounds liek you are saying though, is that they will have added queries and dashboards to the web catalog, and that you will then add more queries and dashboard pages to a development catalog, in this case it's very easy to copy and paste new files from one catalog to the other using the catalog manager. Ther is no need to touch the actual xml. NEVER copy a new catalog over an existing catalog, if you are replacing the whole catalog, back it up then delete it from the Catalog folder and paste in the new one.
    If you are upgrading the version of OBIEE, none of these items should be affected, make sure you back-up first.

    Does Adobe Reader have a search window phrase rollover, yellow-highlighted pop up page number bug displaying the wrong page in some circumstances?
    If Yes, how do I report that bug to get Adobe to fix it?

    MacPreview does not have the problem described below,
    Adobe Reader does have the problem.
    Adobe Reader, search phrase rollover, pops up a page number that is yellow-highlighted, e.g., p# 29, and is wrong, whereas the page number for the thumb and PDF are both the same and are correct.
    My PDF has been set on Acrobat Pro to properly paginate the first eight pages in lowercase Roman numerals (i, ii, iii, iv, v, vi, vii, viii) followed by Arabic numerals (1, 2, etc.). My PDF uses an AcrobatPro special setting to properly handle this pagination scheme. The search phrase rollover pops up a yellow-highlighted page number that wrongly adds 8 pages to the page number for the thumb and for the PDF page. Suspiciously, we have 8 pages with lowercase Roman numbers. Remember, viewing the same PDF, MacPreview works perfectly, producing identical and correct page numbers for the phrase, thumb, and PDF.

    the method u followed is fine as need a page number staring from a specify value which u input.
    @section is only for resetting page number to 1 for every group and for that pdf and ppt will be fine but only for rtf u need to use that ( pressing F9).
    u can use @section and initial page number combined but they give u same output as get now. rtf output wont support it will only reset 1 every time
    What ever u do rtf output wont support initial page number code ..........
    i mentioned that F9 work around to mention that it is the only work around u have upto now to control rtf output with regards to page number.
    Guru's correct me if i am wrong. wait for a day or two if some one from guru's confirm it .
    If u need real confirmation raise an SR oracle will let u know .

  • Undo drills and view prompt values warning message on a dashboard page

    Hi ,
    I have created a dashboard with a single page containing two sections. In first section i am having a prompted report for region and a Region Dashboard prompt ,
    in second section i am having two prompted reports for region , i mean region dashboard prompt drives all other reports in that page. When ever I select a region from the dashboard prompt i am seeing message on Dashboard page as **"_Undo drills and view prompt values_"**

    Hello,
    This issue is caused by having saved prompt value in the analysis.
    Check if there is a staticMemberGroup tag present in your analysis XML (edit the analysis and go to Advanced tab to see the XML). Within the staticMemberGroup element will be your saved value.
    How to fix this:
    Remove the column from the prompt section of the analysis. You can move it to excluded columns or remove it from the report completely. Purpose of this is to get the analysis refreshed so we get new XML without the saved value.
    After the analysis is refreshed you can put the column back to the prompts section and save.
    Check the XML again and make sure that staticMemberGroup element is not present.
    The important thing here is not to choose any value in your prompt while you are in edit mode before you save the analysis. This is how a static value gets saved in the XML.

  • How to change the header and footer in the Section Breaks Next Page using OpenXML?

    I have a word document file in which I added a Section Break of Next Page, now I want to change the header and footer of that page.
    Scenario of example, I have a doc file which has four pages with headers and footers and added fifth page in the section break next page, I want to change the header and footer of the fifth page only. This is achievable manually by deselecting the Link to Previous
    button in the Word Application but I don't know how to change it using XML?
    My code that adds the new page in the section breaks is:

    Try this.
    Open the document and select and copy a few pages, say ten pages.
    Open a new blank document and paste the pages you copied into that.
    Save it with a new name.
    Work on those new pages to see if the problem has disappeared.
    If this helps, continue breaking up the large file in to smaller chunks and working on them
    You can of course later reverse the process and merge the files into one new one.
    This suggestion is based on my experiences with large Word files. Breaking it up in to smaller chunks does two things. First, if there is any corruption in the old file, the new copies might escape that. Second, the Mac is faster handling the smaller chunks.

  • Using iWork 09 Pages I need the first six pages of a document to not be counted as page numbers. I need the seventh page to be numbered as page one. I already know to have a section break between pages 6 and 7 and to use inspector "start at." Not working

    In the book I'm formatting, the first page is the title page, the second page is the copyright page, the third through fifth pages are the table of contents, the sixth page is blank, then the text (which I want to number as page one) is the introduction. I have section breaks between the title page, the copyright page, the table of contents, and the introduction. Using the Inspector, Layout, Section, and selecting "Start at" 7 doesn't do anything!

    Is is a bit tricky, but it works. On your 6th page (the blank one) go to Insert > Section Break. This will give you a 7th page. Then go to Inspector (blue circle with a white letter i in it) and go to Layout Inspector (2nd tab). Once in thee, go to Section. Check "Start at" and enter the number 1. Then ensure all other toons I there are unchecked.
    Then go to Insert, and select Auto Page Numbers. You will find that your 7th page is numbered 1 as you want, but the first six pages will be numbered 1 to 6, which you don't want. But you can then delete the page numbering in that 1st section, leaving your 2nd section, beginning at page 7, numbered as page 1. You'll need to play around a bit as I did, and I would suggest using a test document to play with so you can undo any unwanted actions etc, but with tweaking around, it's doable. This took me ages to sort, so if it works for you, please give me the points :-)

    Forgot to add that it would be an adjustment layer with some kind of mask on it already. The mask is uncentered when copy and pasted which throws it off.
    I guess the same question would go towards doing the same for an object. How to copy and paste it over to a new doc, keeping its position within the document? is this possible?

    RAS SDKs may help you to achive your task.
    I would suggest you to see setGroupSectionsOption and setReportSectionsOption of CharacterSeparatedValuesExportFormatOptions class given in RAS APIs.

    You can not insert a section break into a textbox.
    You appear to have a lot of objects with wrap set, that once you take them out of the flow of text (by sending them to the background) causes the text to reflow and contract into fewer pages. Pages is almost unique in the way it forms up pages in Word Processing mode only so long as there is text on them.
    I suspect you probably have hammered away at returns, spaces and tabs as well to position things, which only works to add to the mess.
    Download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf available under the Help menu and swot up a bit on how it works.

    PS There is quite a lot of programming in OSX that is far from "intuitive". Pages is easy at one level, when using the templates, otherwise it can be quite frustrating.

    I have a few Page Prompts on my Dashboard Page where I saved the selections for "Everyone". I am looking for a way to collapse just the one section with the page prompts by default for "Everyone", so my users will not be tempted to change the prompt selections.
