Hiding Add/Edit Item

Hi,
I have a page with a single Item Region. I want to have two users - User A and User B - User A should only be able to add an item, but not edit it. And, User B should only be able to edit an item but not add any. Is this possible in Oracle Portal?
Thanks,
Vijay.

Hi Vijay -
Portal default functionality does not support this level of granularity. Have a look at the following whitepaper given at Oracle Open World 2004. (section Adding and Editing Items in Page View mode)
http://www.openworld2004.com/published/1336/1336_FENDER_DOC.pdf
It shows you how to create your own Add-item button. If you follow the technique in this paper, you can place item level security on your new "Add Item" link so only UserA has access to it.
It also shows how to create an Edit item link using an associated funtion. You will need to add code to do an IF check for the correct user before outputting anything with the HTP.P( ) function.
Hope this helps,
Candace

  • Change value of a control in a list item new or edit form depending on the page level view Add New Item being clicked.

I have a list which has a underlying infopath form for insert and edit a record.
The list has various views spread across different pages .
Now depending on different pages "New Item", a value for the form will have a corresponding value.
If there is a single line of text control in the list, and depending ona page name, the value for the single line text should be autofilled when Add new item is clicked.
    How do i achieve that?
    Thanks...

    Hi,
According to your description, there are several list views in your list, there is a textbox control which holds the “Single Line of Text” type of data in your custom
form. When users click the “Add new item” button in one of the existing list views, you want the textbox control in the custom form to be populated automatically.
By default, when user clicks the “Add new item” button in a list view, the URL of the custom form page will contain the name of that list view page, thus, a workaround
which requires custom code can be like this:
After the form page loaded, we can extract the name of the list view page from the URL, then populate it into the textbox control immediately. This can be achieved
    using jQuery.

  • JQuery Tutorial needed to customize Add New Item and Edit Item forms

    Hello,
I need a tutorial to use JQuery to customize the UI Screen of SharePoint to add a new item in a list.
since I don't have prior UI experience it will be nice if the tutorial is specifically targetted towards customizing the automatic form which is presented by sharepoint when we try to add an item to a custom lists.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to customize the New Item and Edit Item forms using jQuery.

  • Allow user to access /edit/delete/add specific items in list

    Hi
    I have one custom list.
every month department head is creating some activity because of which some items are getting added in that list pragmatically.
    like-
    departmentID item1
    item2
    DEPT001 item001
    item002
    DEPT001 item003
    item001
    DEPT002 item004
    item001
After that User want to edit or delete or add new entries only related to their department only.
How can allow user to edit/delete or add entries (full control) only related to his department in the same list?
How can I assign users for this?
Should I create another list having department id and user mapping?
    please suggest any soln.

    The flow is like,
User(Dept head/department user)will select department from drop down and clik on button to add some entries against the department.
once the entries done he just click on save button.
after some time if department head/department user want to add/edit/delete some entries against his department then he should able to view only his deapartment entries.
Also the email is generated to his manager.
So my question is how should I allow user to view his own entires only which should be available for him to add/edit/delete.?
If I create one list of department  and on adding the entries against each department I will add departmentID for every entry so that I can filter them by department.
but how to allow users for those entries? If I added user for each entry and if any department user changed then I have to change his name from all entries for that department. If the entries are more than 50 or 100 then it will be very difficuelt to handle.
Also for multiple users for single department this is very difficuelt to provide access.
is there any alternate solution for it?

  • Allow All Users To Add List Items But Only Certain users To Edit Them (SharePoint 2013)

How do we allow all users to add items to a list, but only allow certain users to edit the list items? Site is SharePoint 2013. We have tried creating custom permissions. That does not seem to work.

I've setup a custom list on my SharePoint Foundation using a custom permission level to accomplish this.  I setup a custom permission level on the site called 'Add Only to Lists'  which allows adding an item to the list and setup the group with
the default read and the custom permission level and it works.  The users in the group get the add item but do not get edit item, not even items they created themselves.
Any users who should have full edit permissions can be setup under the normal edit/contribute/design permission level and work normal.
Below is the Role Definition pulled via PowerShell and Role Assignments on the list in question.  As well as a picture showing what it looks like to something assigned that role level.
    Role Definition
Name : Add Only to list
Description : Can add items to a list but cannot edit or delete
    Type : None
    Hidden : False
    Order : 2147483647
BasePermissions : ViewListItems, AddListItems, Open, ViewPages
    List Role Assignments
    Member : Home Visitors
    RoleDefinitionBindings : {Read, Add Only to list}
    Parent : IT Equipment Request
    ParentSecurableObject : IT Equipment Request
The user can create a new item, but cannot edit items - not even items he created.

  • SP2010: Users with Contribute rights can Add but not edit items in Calendar View

    Hello,
One of our users was recently trying to update a Calendar item in the Calendar view, but was unable to do so. Here are the facts of the case:
    - The members of the user's group have Contribute rights on the Calendar list, and on each of the specific Calendar items tested
    - I logged in as a member of the same group and am able to Add items in the calendar view, but when I click on an item title the Ribbon options (including Edit) are not available - whether I created the item or not
    - While logged in as a member of that group, I can edit calendar items using the Allitems view, using the dropdown menu and Edit Item (if I click on the item title, I get the item details without the Ribbon)
    - I created a new Calendar view ("Calendar2") but the problem was the same
When logged in with admin rights, I get the Edit ribbon when I click on an item title from the Calendar view. Is there a way to do the same for non-admin users? Thanks.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you were able to add items into a Calendar List, but you couldn’t edit some items of the Calendar List in Calendar View as a member of your group with Contribute rights. And if you edit the Calendar List’s
items in the “All Events” view or log in with admin rights, you can edit these items.
Therefore, I wonder if you use the “Calendar Overlays” to display some items of other Calendar Lists in the current Calendar List as John suggested.
And if you don’t have permissions to edit items of other Calendar Lists, you can’t edit those items of other Calendar Lists in the current Calendar List in Calendar View.
So, I recommend that you should check if using the “Calendar Overlays” to display some items of other Calendar Lists in the current Calendar List at first.
If yes, you need to check if you have permissions to edit items of other Calendar Lists.
For test, I suggest that you can create a new Calendar List and test to see how it works.
    Best Regards,
    Thanks

    Hi,
The “Add new item” button will redirect users to add new item with the default Content Type of the current list.
So a workaround can be like this: We can change the default Content Type of this list every time when users open this list view page, then the “Add new item” button will work
    as you expected.
Here is a link with code demo about how to programmatically set a content type as default content type in a SharePoint 2013 List:
    http://www.ashokraja.me/tips/How-to-programmatically-set-a-content-type-as-default-content-type-in-a-SharePoint-2013-List
We can put the code into a Visual Web Part and add it into your two views, then when users open a list view page, the code will be executed to change the default Content Type
    of the current list.
To develop a custom web part, you can take a look at the links below with steps in detail for a start:

  • Cannot add new items to a value list in AW database

I have a database which I have been using for many years. One of the fields is a value list. I just went to add another item to the list, and no matter what I do, the Create button is grayed out. I have another value list in the same database that works fine.
There are currently 170 items in the value list that is causin the problem, but I didn't think that there was a limit to the number of items that can be is a value list. (At least there is nothing in the AW technical specifications to indicate thin. I duplicated the existing database, deleted about 20 items from the list, then saved the file, and reopened it, and still cannot add new items to that value list. Does anyone know what might be causing the problem?

    Oops
    I read too fast.
Here is a short script which may help.
Replace the pop-up item by a text one and edit the property myList in my script to fit your needs.
Select the field to fill and run the script.
Then choose an item in the displaid list. It will be pasted in the selected field.
This trick would give you to work with a "no limit" list of items.
    -- [SCRIPT DB fillFieldFromAlist ]
    Assuming that
the front document is a database one
and that a text field is selected,
run the script to select an item in a list
and paste it in the field.

    Hi Adil,
Document Library is different from a normal list. The document library contains files inside it. You need to update the code to add a document to the library. Then you can get hold of the List Item represented by that file and update its properties. Here
    is an example:
    $WebURL = "http://aissp2013/sites/TestSite"
    $DocLibName = "Docs"
    $FilePath = "c:\blogs.txt"
    # Get a variable that points to the folder
    $Web = Get-SPWeb $WebURL
    $List = $Web.GetFolder($DocLibName)
    $Files = $List.Files
    # Get just the name of the file from the whole path
    $FileName = $FilePath.Substring($FilePath.LastIndexOf("\")+1)
    # Load the file into a variable
    $File= Get-ChildItem $FilePath
    # Upload it to SharePoint
    $spFile = $Files.Add($DocLibName +"/" + $FileName,$File.OpenRead(),$false)
    $item = $spFile.Item
    $item["Title"] = "New Title"
    $item.Update()

  • User exit in sales order to add new item condition

    Hi,
Our business requirement is to add new item conditions in an order (VA01/VA02) using ABAP coding. Has anyone done this before?
    I'm thinking of using USEREXIT_NEW_PRICING_VBAP in MV45AFZB ?
    Thanks.
Edited by: William Lawlor on Jul 8, 2008 12:19 PM

    Hi,
This exit USEREXIT_NEW_PRICING_VBAP in MV45AFZB is used only to determine or not a new price calculation according to a modification of specific field (ex : if shipping condition is changed, then new price determination).
To add new condition type, you can used requirement in pricing procedure (V/08) with condition formula.
What is the condition to add this new condition type ?

  • Automatically add line-items to Sales order

    Hello,
Our client needs us to add line items to sales orders. The requirement is such that, when the users enter a material on a line item, they wish to see few more materials automatically added as new line items -- item category to be maintained as "Free" items. This appears similar to automatically getting BOM-sub-items for materials which have BOMs maintained. The client is not willing to maintain BOMs for materials in question. They instead have asked us to maintain sub-item materials in a Z-table and then fetch those to populate the subsequent line-items on the sales order.
So far, we have tried to fiddle around with the XVBAK and XVBAP internal tables in sales exit (MV45AFZZ) and also tried to use BAPI within the same exit. Both methods do not work.
Could you please guide us ? Thank you.
    Regards,

    Hi,
I think you can try with product proposal(Item Proposal). T.Code:VA51.
Using this one can create list of items to be proposed at the time sales order processing.
Item proposal contains list of items with or without default quantities those were frequently ordered by the customer. You can create any no of items in an Item proposal.Like wise you can create any no.of item proposals.
But,You can assign only one item proposal per customer in sales tab of the CMR.So that when ever you are creating order for that customer you can access those materials which are listed in an Item proposal completely or selectively, with or without default quantities.
The items which are proposed from an Item proposal are always changeable.
Item proposal makes sales order processing simple and fast.
Only the thing here is it will not automatically explode like in case of BOM.You have to manually select those items from an item proposal.
