Hiding columns in list based on prompt selection

Hi,
Question with me here is How to show the details only for selected Years in the prompts.
Users have to select a range of years for which they want to see the data and based on this selection, the columns should appear. more importatnly, there are other surrounding columns which should appear always on the result screen (that restricts me to use pivot instead).
e.g. Case 1 - User selected Year Range = 2011 to 2014 -
Result set columns should be
ID, CODE, DESC, VALUE_2011, VALUE_2012, VALUE_2013, VALUE_2014, Contact Person, Mail, Phone
Case 2 - User selected Year Range = 2011 to 2016 -
Result set columns should be
ID, CODE, DESC, VALUE_2011, VALUE_2012, VALUE_2013, VALUE_2014, VALUE_2015, VALUE_2016, Contact Person, Mail, Phone
Did anyone have a solution for such case?

Any alternate approach?I don't understand your situation fully, but to answer your requirement, "I have to have...last few static columns in same order.," do this:
1) Put the dimension columns you need at the end of the report in the Measures section, on the bottom.
2) Change the Aggregation Rule to Max and the values will appear.
So you can have dimension columns at the end of a pivot table; you just have to do a little trickery.

    I think you have to go for Data level Security in this case.
    You have to set that Session variable in the Group/User Permissions tab so that the Group members can see only those regions data only, even if they go for a
    search.
    Otherwise there is nothing to restrict the user in all the directions.
    You have to apply that filter on all the tables in that Subject area.

    I have a requirement to hide the section based on selection of the prompt . My scenario is like i have 1 dimension table and 10 fact table joined to that dimension table. each fact table is having one code of the dimension table.
    I have 10 different reports in 10 fact tables. i have defined a prompt on the dimension table , if i wil select a particular code in the prompt then it will show me that particular fact table report .
    For that i have done 10 reports and i am showing in 10 different section . Now i want to hide the section based on selection .
    If i can put all report in one section and based on selection i can show the report that will be also ok for me ...
    Please help me ...

    i am able to show the section based on prompt selection . But in my current scenario i have 300 reports based on 300 fact table . If i will put all my report in a dashboard it will fire 300 queries to data base . It will become a performance issue . and one more thing is , does OBIEE support 300 reports in different sections in one page.

  • Request based on Prompt selections.

    Please let me know if this requirement is feasible through OBIEE.
    I have a dashboard Prompt which has three columns. These three columns are constrained as per the hierarchy.
    Country
    State
    District.
    I have three requests which show Region, Sales based on the Region
    Request 1 : Shows District level sales
    Request 2 : Shows State level sales
    Request 3 : Shows Country level sales.
    Now the requirement is:
    a) When I select District only( State and Country as All Choices) or State and District or Country and State and District
    then the lowest level only should be shown i.e. Request 1 should show up ( only for District).
    b) When only State is selected ( Country and district as All Choices) or Country and State is selected then show only the State level request (Request 2).
    c) When only Country is selected ( State and District as All Choices) then show only the Country level request ( Request 3).
    That means based on the Prompt selection, only One Request should be shown in the dashboard any time.
    Please let me know if this is achievable.

  • Have an onchange event in SPD to update a list based on user selection of data view drop down?

    Hoping someone can point me in the right direction: I have a list for Media announcements, each one of these announcements will have various types of documents associated (via look up field in the doc library). I am trying to have a data form web part (dropdown)
    as the selector (as I am not liking the SharePoint list filter feature) to have a user be able to select the Media Title, then it refreshes the three web parts on the page (1 for the announcement, then one for type1 docs and one for type 2 docs.)
    What is the best way to create an onchange event to have the selected option be connected to the first web part (media title on a list view) so that the information on the page can all be filtered?

    Would you mind providing more details about your requirement? Are there one Announcements list and two Document Library in a page?
    Suppose you have one Announcements list and two Document Library in a page, then you want to add a Drop Down Menu(not the OOTB SharePoint List Filter Web Part) to filter the
    three List View Web Part dynamically.
    There will be two workarounds:
    1. Use the OOTB “Connections” feature of the list to “Get Filter Values From” one of the three lists, then there will be a “Select” button in that list, we can click it to filter
    other two lists/libraries. This is a way without code though we may not have the Drop Down Menu;
    2. Add three <iframe> in a page, then add a Drop Down Menu in this page. Now, we will need some JavaScript to listen to the onchange event of this Drop Down Menu. We can
    get the values populated in the Drop Down Menu from one of the column of one of the list, when making a selection in it, we can pass an URL with query strings to the three iframes which will show the three different lists or libraries.
    The second way requires some code to interact with Client Object Model cause we need to get values from a list, some script to handle the onchange event, which seems more suit
    with your need.

    Hoping someone can help me with something I am working on. i am fairly new to creating forms in acrobat (know how to us the full range of very basic features) but I have now found myself needing some help.
    i am producing an order form, and I need to create a filtered dropdown list based on the value selected in another field.
    basically, when a user select the company chooses their Business Name from a dropdown list, I would like their deliver address to self populate. In some cases there may be a few options for the company delivery address so in these cases the second option would be a dropdown list of the options available for that company.
    i have attached a screenshot, it is the Fields "Business Name" and "delivery Address/Delivery Postcode" that i would like to be linked so that the option in Business Name filtered the options in delivery Address

    This will require a complex, custom-made script. The basic functionality of populating another field based on a selection in a drop-down is not that complicated, but if you want it to also populate other drop-downs (and then presumably use them to populate other fields), it will require a more complex solutions.

    I need to display two prompts: "Product Family" and "Products". When the user selects a product family, I need the list of products to be filtered to the selected product family. In other words, the contents of the second prompt's list needs to be based on the value selected in the first prompt. Can this be done in Web Intelligence?

    Yes, the second way is use element link in report block between 2 tables one for product family and one for product list ( you don't need prompts in this case...)

  • Measure to dynamically change based on prompt selection

    Hi Experts,
    My requirement is, if I select a business segment (from a drop down prompt), it has show one of measure in the report and if I change the prompt value, it has to show a different measure. i.e., It should work like a column selector, but my selection is based on Segment prompt value.
    To still make it clear, assume, my report has measures KPI1, KPI2 KPI3. If I select Biz. Segment 1 from the prompt then only measure, KPI1 must appear in the report and so on.

    I am using Web Services to populate Dropdownlists. This works fine for me.
    I have a table with the column "Core Category" and "SUB Category", "Core Category" can have 1 or more SUB Categories.
    The SQL statement in the Web Service for "Core Category" looks like this: "Select DISTINCT [core category] from table", this returns a list of categories.
    In this example, I want to achieve the following:
    When I select a "Core Category' in the first Dropdownlist, the application fires an event or action to fill the second Dropdownlist "SUB Category" with ONLY values that belongs to the selected "Core Category" in the first Dropdown list.
    Is this possible with Visual Composer? Please let me know how I can achieve this?

    Yes it is possible. [Example of Ship and Engine|http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/2968/shipenginezt9.jpg]. Kindly note there is a web service for getting ship and on basis of ship-id selected, engine is filled, which is also deliverd by web service
    The intial state of application is ship drop down is enabled but not the engine, that gets enabled only when ship is selected.
    Here the steps: Please replace it with your fields:
    1. Place the 2 drown down controls.
    2. For Ship, Select the web service in the dynamic list of the dropdown, remember at runtime, if those input parameters are not valid it will give the data service error, make use of if statement.
    3. Define Store -> shipid, engineid and boolean show_engine  - default false
    4.  Action of ship -> ASSIGN action -> true to show_engine from data store
    5.  Value of ship ->
    =store@SHIP
    6.For engine, Select the web service in the dynamic list of the dropdown, remember at runtime, if those input parameters are not valid it will give the data service error, make use of if statement. Where the paramter for shipid is to be filled
    =IF(store@SHIP!="",UPPER(store@SHIP),"AVRA")
    7. Value of engine ->
    =store@ENGINE

    I have 2 select lists when a selection is made in one I want the second list to be limited but when nothing is selected in the first list I want the second list to display all. Apolgies if this is really a plsql thing .
    Heres what I have so far
    if :P52_ORGNAME is null

    else
    return 'select unique forename||surname d,id r from com_contact where orgname = :P52_ORGNAME order by id';
    end if;
    the else is fine but I cant get the null condition to work.
    :P52_ORGNAME is a select list where show null is yes and there is no NULL value

    you can try 2 things.
    1)try putting a null display value and keep null return value as blank. dont put any value in the default value also,and see if this works,
    2)else try putting a null return value(like BLANK) and check for that value in the condition insted of null. i.e
    if :P52_ORGNAME ='BLANK'
    then
    return 'select unique surname d,id r from com_contact';
    else
    return 'select unique forename||surname d,id r from com_contact where orgname = :P52_ORGNAME order by id';

    Hello... I have the following bit of code...
    *parent select
    htmldb_item.select_list_from_query(1,null,'select program_desc_eng, program_id from myfps_programs')
    * child select using parent value
    htmldb_item.select_list_from_query(2,null,'select sub_pgm_desc_eng, sub_program_id from myfps_sub_programs where program_id = <VALUE FROM ABOVE?>')
    I know this is easily done using the select list form items and such but I need to use the htmldb_item function. On screen when a user selects value from the parent select list, I want the child select list to use the value of the parent as a parameter into its own select list. How can I reference the parent? (ie can I use htmldb_application.g_f01(1) or something of this nature?) I realize I may need a bit of javascript to have it work correctly but I'm just wondering if its possible?

  • Populating 2nd drop down list based on the selection of the first using Access DB...

    I have a form that I would like to have the user select the first drop-down list as populated from a data source, but them have the subsequent selection choice dependent on the first. For instance, if they select "administration" for their division, the department numbers shown in the second box would only contain those with "Administration" listed as their division. I have all of this information in my Access table.
    I've seen this possible by storing all of the information in a script. i.e.- listing each division and department. The only problem is that we have over 300 departments and making any changes would be very tedious in an in-form script. Is there any way to have this automatically reference a table in Access?

    In the current version of the portal, it is not possible as you cannot do code-behind on postbacks. If you want more flexibility, you need to write your own front-end that uses the FIM Service webservices...

    I'm on APEX 2.1.0.00.39, and the Radiogroup & Select List are part of a Form Region.

    I have never worked on ver 2 of APEX so i dont know wheter these functionality will work or not..
    Option 1)
    1) Make the Radiogroup as Radiogroup(with submit)
    2) Create a select list with query something similar to
    select display_value d , return_value r from myTable where someColumn = :P1_MY_RADIO_BUTTON;
    Option 2) Use AJAX.. htmldb_Get()

    I would like to know if there is any possibility to change the query to have 'IN' clause or '=' clause based on user prompt selection.
    Say, if user enters single value for a prompt, the query should have = clause and when enters multiple input, the query change to IN clause.
    HummingBird tool has the capability to dynamically change between = and IN based on the prompt selection.
    There seems to be some issue in performance because of the IN clause we’ve used while passing single prompt value when compared to Hummingbird tool.
    Is it possible in BI Publisher???
