Hiding field when selecting one subtype

I have 2 fields in subtype,if u select one subtype...one field should get hide for that subtype in that screen.

I have problem while hiding the selection screen which is called as subscreen.
Flow of my logic:
Selection-screen with one field and three buttons CREATE,DISPLAY and CHANGE in application toolbar.
user enter some value in field and either he press change or dispaly
When change i need to call selection screen when it is in dispaly i need to stop calling this selection screen.
Upto my knowledge we can't stop calling selection screen in display mode so there is only one possibility is hiding the fields when it is in display mode.
How can i hide the fields and where i need to hide fields?
Please post some codes.

I have a question about creating a Java Script withing Acrobat pro. This is what i would like to do: I created a drop-down menu with several selection entries. Upon the customer making one of the selection entries, i would like for the correct fields that i created to become visible and all other fields to hide. Is this even possible to do? The reasoning behind this is because we have a form that customers have to generate in order to request access to certain financial accounts; we have over 20 different types of accounts and for each instance the customer has to fill out the same form. By creating a drop down menu, i can use the same form by just changing the drop-down selection and clicking on the designated fields for that selection. At this time i have over 20 different forms that poing to 20 different account requests and i would hate to send the form 20 different times to one person. The reason i can not add all fields desired for all accounts is due to the fact that the form would be filled with hundreds of checkmarks and instructions thus making the process too tideous for the customer. Hope you guys can help out.

The good news is, it can be done (and it has been done).
There are a few things to be aware of, however.
The most important is that the form must be planned well, which means that you must think carefully about your logic and even more so about your field naming (hierarchical field names are your friend). One fundamental issue, you have to be aware of, is that this form no longer will be a "standard form". The consequence of this is that you may have to be aware that you might get into trouble when you have to prove that your user filled out that particular standard form (talk to your compliance and forms management people about that).
You also may have to decide whether the form should be usable in Reader. And, if so, how much you want to spend on the right to do so. You will see below why…
There are actually two approaches for dynamically showing/hiding parts of a form. If your form can be separated between a fixed first page (where you also have the account type selection), and a variable part (depending on the selection), you could use Templates, which you spawn according to the selection, and delete pages when you change the selection. This approach is very easy to implement, but requires Reader Extensions Server to allow it to work in Reader; Acrobat Pro's extended rights are not sufficient for that.
The other approach is showing/hiding fields. If you did your homework well, it would be very easy to first hide all subsequent fields, and then show the ones you need in two lines of code. This approach does not require extended rights for Reader at all, as long as your forms will always have the same number of pages, for each of your account types. This approach also works for the cases where the differences between the individual forms are very small. It does also work for showing/hiding bigger chunks of the form. In that case, you might create the "background" separately, and then put it as an icon into a button field which you will show/hide together with the carefully placed on top of it active fill-out fields.
There is a third possibility, which Adobe Propaganda probably would suggest, and that woudl be subforms in LiveCycle Designer. The consequence is, however, that you won't have PDF forms, but proprietary XFA forms instead. And you may have more developing and maintenance work than with the other approaches.
Back to your original question: you could use a Keystroke script evaluating event.changeEx of the combo box field. Depending on that, you would run your action to set up the according form part. The other way to do it would be evaluating event.value in the onBlur event. The latter would have the advantage that the selection has been made, and you get a bit more time to set up the form (this may in fact be an issue, particularly with Acrobat 9 and 10, which may take their time to show/hide fields).
Another possibility instead of a drop down (combo box field) would be a popup, where you would have a button to press, and the list of selections pops up. This second method uses app.popUpMenuEx().

How do I create radio buttons which hide certain fields when selected?

I have a set of two radio buttons, "Yes" and "No"
When the "Yes" radio button is selected, I would like the "Bank Name", "Branch Number", "Institution Number" and the "Account Number" field to all be blocked from entering content into them.
When the "No" button is selected, I would like for all of these fields to be available to be written in.
I can do this currently with check boxes, but the problem with those is that both boxes can be checked at the same time, which is problematic.
How can I make it so that the radio buttons control whether or not the fields can be written in!

Yes, I have done this. The buttons are mutually exclusive. The are in the group "Vendor EFT" - one is named "Yes", one is named "No".

Text Area steals Focus from Text Field when selected with mouse

I have created a very simple form with 4 spry validation elements here :: http://octopusdesign.net/contactus.html
When I attempt to select the 'Your Email' text field using the mouse, focus is grabbed by the text area above it.
It is only possible to get focus on the 'Your Email' text field by using tab.
My best guess is that this is a bug in the framework.
In addition to updating my spry libraries to 1.6 from 1.4 I've tried the following things::
Reordering the elements in the form.
Creating the elements in a different order.
Replacing the validation elements with ordinary elements.
None of these fixed the problem.
Strangely, if I remove the validation text area there is no problem.
If anyone can shed some light on this I would really appreciate it.

Furthermore ::
I've tried to reconstruct the form from scratch and discovered that if you have a validation text field and a validation text area in any order on the form, selecting the 2nd element with the mouse always results in the first element stealing the focus.

When selecting one cell, multiple cells highlight

When I am working with Excel 2010, I try to select a single cell however multiple cells get highlighted. It will highlight usually the next 5-6 cells in the same row. It occurs randomly on random cells, but happens about 25% of the time. If I click the
cell and it does its highlighting thing, I usually have to click away in another cell and then re-click the first one to get it to go away. Also, if I just try to ignore the highlighted cells and try to work as normal, when I try to tab to the next cell in
the row, it will only let me tab between the cells in the column that are highlighted. It is not a mouse problem, I am not accidentally selecting multiple cells, and it happens on documents I created as well as documents others have created. It will also happens
on a new, blank document or others completely stripped of any kind of potentially hidden formatting. I have not tried to re-install Office yet, but that will be next step if no one has a solution. Thanks

I ran into this problem today working in Excel 2010 at 90% zoom.
First I tried F8 and Shift+F8 but neither of them worked.
Next I changed the zoom levels up and down and this worked while I was at a different zoom level than the document was saved in but went back to the same problem when I tried working at 90% zoom again.
Finally I came across the fix mentioned below from July 2, 2012 that suggested switching from Normal View to Page and then to Print view and back to Normal and this worked!!! Thanks to all for your input below, you saved my Monday morning!
LIST OF POSSIBLE FIXES:
1. Try using the F8 and/or Shift+F8 [extend selection] to toggle back and forth.
2. Change zoom level of your document up or down [this was only a temporary fix for me].
3. Change page layout between Normal, Page Layout, and Page Break Preview (the 3 boxes at the bottom right hand corner of excel spreadsheet) then back to Normal.

i have an hr (human resource) database tables
and i build a from to query about the employee_id
and view all details of the employee in one data block

i want when i change the department of the employee
the jop history updated and i can see the new jop in the jop history view with the new date
in the start date and the old jop terminated in the end date with the new date
the structure as the folowing

i want to when updating department the jop title in the same block
and the jop history automatic ad an new row with the new jop its start date the day date
and the previuos jop ended with the same date

Unfortunatey i havent started yet. I have so far created a servlet which accesses a mysql DB passes the results to a jsp page and displays them in a table. This works fine. What i want to do now is create a second jsp page where an adminstrator can change the value of the last field for any paticular row. whether this info should be displayed in a form or table i dont know.thinking about it maybe i can populate a form with an individual DB row with the option of changing the last field in the form. does this sound like it might work or has no one got a clue what i am talking about.

Getting error message when selecting item form dropdown

Hi Folks,
I am creating a screen exit which we configure in QA11 transaction. I am inserting few fields in User Data subscreen including QMEL-PRIOK field. when selecting an option from drop down list, It is giving an error message' Error: entry not available in table'. But when I am checking the table entries, the value I have entered is there.
Please help me in resolving this issue.

Field QMEL-PRIOK is checked with superior key QMEL-ARTPR, is this field available in your screen/program ?
You may programmatically fill an internal table for the dropdown list, restricting values with the QMEL-ARTPR value in the PBO of your screen.

How do I validate one field's length based on another field's selection?

I am creating a form for our offices where I need to check one field for length of a serial number based on the answer to a previous field's selection. Depending on the product selection, the serial number has two different lengths. Both fields are marked as required, but I want to make sure that we receive the full serial number for our product. Previous forms were done on paper and instructions were for the last 4 digits only which now we want the full serial number. One product has a 12 digit number and the other is 6.
I'm guessing that I need a validation script in the serial number field, but I am not a JavaScript coder and haven't found the right thing when searching. Any help would be great!

Never trust your users to follow what you expect them to do... That often leads to mistakes and problems later on.
I would reset the s/n field when a selection is made in the drop-down. To do so set the drop-down field to commit the selected value immediately and add code as its custom validation script:

To validate the s/n field you can use something like this as that field's custom validation script (of course, you'll need to adjust the field names and values to match the actual ones in your file):

Making a form field required when another field is selected

I have a contact form with the usual fields required (name, address, city, etc.). I'm adding a Country pull-down list to the form, which will default to the US being selected. Since a "State" field is not relevant for anyone filling out the form from another country, I'd like to make the State field required only if the country selected is United States, and not required for any other country. Is there a way to do this?

What you need is to be able to create a required textfield when the first textfield shows USA and destroy the required field when another country is selected.

Dropdown field - when certain entries are selected make another field unavailable for data input

Sorry one again I am very new to forms and have another question. I have a dropdown list which when selecting certain values I need another field to be unavailable so the user can't enter data.
Hope this example makes sense:

Here's a script that you can use for the custom Validate script of the dropdown. It resets the value of the corresponding text field whenever a change is made to the dropdown. You can get rid of the line that does this if you don't want this to happen. Change "text1" in the code to match the name of the text field you're using.
