Hiding Filters in a Report

Hi,
How to hide the filters and those restriction which are within the RKFs from the report. I see the option to display text elements General, Filters and Variables. But I do not know how to hide it. By default the reports are showing the filters. Is there a setting to be made on front-end or something I need to define in query definition.

I don't think that there is a setting whereby it can be removed from the initial run of a query in a new workbook.
Best option would be to try out the user exit in BEx Analyzer.

that means if i am using three diff filters as f1 for Zone f2 for location and f3 for sales office
then if have selected a zone from the zone filter (for ex west) then the location filter should show only the locations which comes under that zone and the third filter should show only those sales offices which comes under the selected location from the filter..

1. In Universe Take Storename, city, State, region, Country objects
2. Double click on Storename, go to properties tab and click on edit button. Query panel will open.
3. Double click on city and click on sort button, double click on state and sort it, double click on region and sort it, double click on Country and sort it.
4. If you want to keep any condition like particular country, you can drag country object in to the Conditions pane. If not leave it empty.
5.Click on Save and close button. Save the universe and export it.
6. In webI drag and drop the Storename object and click on 'Add Quick Filter' button. Now all the columns you included in the list of values appear in the Add Quick Filter dialog box.
Now You can select the values from here and run the query. you will get the result.
One more way is there using cascading LOVs
1. Go to Tools menu > List of values > Create Cascading list of values.
2. Double click on Country, Region, State, City and Storename. Close it.
3. Save and export the universe.
4. In webi drag and drop the objects in result objects pane, apply query filter and run the query.
Now you will get the result.

Can we apply saved filters to union reports in obiee 11g?

Can we apply saved filters to union reports in obiee 11g?
I am able to apply saved filters for normal reports but not for union reports.
The catalog pane is blank, when i click on result columns or each criteria.
The only option i see is to manually create the filters for each criteria, dont i have any choice to use a saved filter for union report?
Is this a bug or something i am unaware of , Please guide me.

I get the same issue. I thought that it's a problem in a security - the catalog pane is clear in a union report. But saved filters work in 11g. I migrated catalog from 10g to 11g and I see saved filters in the conditions. But you may add saved filters directly into xml. Go on Tab Advanced and edit Analysis XML. You have to add code like this
<sawx:expr xsi:type="sawx:savedFilter" path="/shared/FOLDER/_filters/FOLDER/FILTER_NAME" name="FILTER_NAME"/> in a right place.

Prevent dashboard prompt from filtering a particular report on page?

I have a dashboard page with 1 prompt and 5 reports. The first object on the dashboard page is a dashboard prompt with a date range for created date.
The request is to filter the first 4 reports based on the dashboard prompt, and then the last report NOT be filtered based on the prompt.
Right now - the date range entered in the dashboard prompt is filtering all 5 reports.
Is there any way to prevent the prompt from filtering a particular report on the dashboard page?

Just wanted to provide an update as to what I learned from the SR I opened.
Dashboard prompts apply to all reports on the page which either:
* Have the "is prompted" filter selected
- OR -
* Are filtered in any other way
In my case, my last report was filtered on the created date to exclude any data prior to July 1, 2010. Because this hardcoded filter was applied, then the report automatically was picking up the date range filter from the dashboard prompt and applying that date range to the report instead.
The workaround was to create a new column on the report formatting the date as YYYYMM and applying a filter to the report as >= 201007. With this, the dashboard prompt is now not applied to filter this report.

Dynamics CRM usage of CRMAF_ filters in sub reports

Have a main SSRS report which uses CRM pre filtering via the "CRMAF_" prefix, this report calls a sub report which needs to use the same pre filtering as selected and applied via the main report.
The sub report is a summary total presenting the information in a different order than the main report but needs to run over the same dataset that the main report did.
Would like to see a worked example of how this can be achieved ?

I'm thinking I may just have to go with two seperate reports that both use the same CRMAF pre filtering.
The advantage of using the automatic pre-filtering is when the report is deployed I assign the related record type and can then run it over 'selected records' from the list screen.
With the explicit pre-filtering when the report is deployed I can assign the related record type but then it can only be run over 'all records' from the list screen.
So with explicit pre filtering I loose the ability to run the report over a selected subset of the related records.
Looks easier to create two seperate reports (rather than a main and a subreport), the user can choose the records to report on from the related list and then just run the two reports after each other.

Performance problem with Filters of Crystal Report

Hi,
I have been facing this problem for a month now.
Whenever I try to run a Crystal Report from Infoview it takes 5min or more to get the prompts screen
but sometimes(mostly when i restart all servers) the filter screen appears real quick say 5 to 10 secs(is this quick?)
I have no idea why this is happening! Is there an issue with the servers? or is this problem related to Crystal report?
Please help. I tried googling for this problem but could not find anything that would help.

I am using a universe which uses a DSN to connect to the sql2k5 database. One thing I forgot to mention is that this is a clustered environment(with 2 servers) and the input/output file repository is set to a folder on a third server.
Note: Even though the report filters take time to pop up, but the report runs very fast; doesnt take more than 5 seconds for a fairly complex report.
Yesterday I did a trial install on a seperate server and the reports filters come up pretty fast.

Hiding variables in WebI report

Hi,
We have generated an Universe based on a BW query which has 5 user entry variables with user exit logic coded for each one.
Based on this Universe we wish to create 2 WebI reports.
However, for the both the reports all the 5 variables are displayed.
Is there a way to hide the variables, so that on the first report we see two variables and on the second WebI report we are able to see the remaining three variables.
For all 5 variables, we have some logic on the BW user exits and hence we want to leaverage the BW variables and not opt for the WebI variables.

How did you manage to hide the variable, we have a similar issue, I have created a BW variable that is populated by Customer Exit. The problem is, for the query to be filtered in the Webi Report it the variable has to be defined as "input ready", and this allows the users to change the data in the variable which I don't want them to do. If I don't make it input ready the WebI Report is not filtered.
If we could hide the variable it would solve our problem

Hiding rows in Web report

I am currently hiding an entire row via ABAP classes using 'style="display:none"' however there is a thick gridline where the hiding row is. Has anyone encountered this before and is there a better way to hide rows? I have hidden columns using 'style="display:none"' and the report looks ok, but hiding rows this way leaves thick gridlines where the rows use to be.

It seems the problem is the method for c_cell_td_extend will only hide the <TD>, but the <TR> will still exist, thus the gridline displaying in the report. does anyone know of a way to clear the <TR> as well for web templates?

Event getting trigger after hiding columns in alv report

I having requirement like after hiding columns,i have to control some of the hard coded data in report output. Is there any event to know what all are the columns are selected to hide?

You can use FM REUSE_ALV_LIST_LAYOUT_INFO_GET to read the fieldcat again.
Look at the parameter it_event_exit on the ALV FM to now user has press on some of the Layout buttons.
In the fieldcatalog, look for
- no_out = 'X'. " column is not displayed but can be choosen when changing the layout
-tech = 'X'.
" column is neither displayed nor availabe in the layout

Repeating frame hiding in Group above report with three levels of grouping

I'm working on a group above report.I have 3 levels of grouping. ex: Consider emp table
Group1: Hiring year
Group2:Manager code
Group3:Dept no
The R1 frame is refered to Group1. R2 -Group2, wich will come inside R1.
R3-Group3, which will come inside R3.
Now R3 is the inner frame, R2 is the middle frame and R1 is the outer frame.
I want to display the data of the frame R3. Based on the parameter i'm passing , I want to hide the R1 or R2. I used the format trigger, but it is hiding the inner frames also. But I want to hide only the outer frame,But I want the data of the inner frames.

Don't hide R1 and R2, i.e. don't use their trigger to display or display items. Instead, put all objects in a normal frame, and hide it depending on the parameters you meantioned.
What will happen will be somewhat like this

|-- Frame - ( use trigger to hide depending on parameters )

|-- R2
|---Frame - ( use trigger to hide depending on parameters )

Clearing Interactive Report filters without clearing report settings

APEX 4.0
Oracle 10g
I have an IRR, the report is saved as primary for displaying 200 rows at at time for each page (Page 3) The customer can filter upon many columns and can use mutliple filters through the Action -> Filter Column.
Our requirement is:
1. To clear all filters on the iR page with a button
2. To clear previously visited Page 3 filters when this page is displayed again
The closest option I have found is utilizing the "apex_util.ir_clear(p_page_id => 3)". Besides clearing the filters (which is what I want, it also resets the rows per page count of the IRR to 15.
I need a way to prevent and keep the Saved IRR with rows per page set to 200.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I would look at using the URL to clear the IR and then to reset the number of rows (this is just a guess because I don't see it documented at the above link) I would use your typical session state substitution that you would do in a URL or page branch to reset the value of page item "apexir_NUM_ROWS" (it appears that Apex generates that select list with a HTML ID of "apexir_NUM_ROWS") to &apexir_NUM_ROWS. So hopefully that'll clear your page but then reset the number of rows to whatever it was.
All just a guess but give it a try.

Displaying Query filters on a report to print

I would like to display the query filters that I have used in my query filters display on the report, is there any way to do this? Are you able to create a variable and populate it with the query filters?

Filtered Value in Reports

Hi all,
I have a requirement where in whenever a user filters on any characteristic in the report a dynamic text should appear on a screen which says, "Report filtered by - XXXX".
I tried using info item and dynamic filters but that doesnt serve my purpose , because they are always visible on the screen even if the data is not filtered on any characterictic.
Can anyone please help me with this.
Any ideas or suggestions will be very helpfull.

If you are using the web application designer, the "filter" web item could be entered above the query results. The properties of the "filter" could be set to always show by removing the checkmark from "collapsed".
If you are not using a web template, a simple BEX query that has the first object placed in the rows section would sort the results by the characteristic which the user entered via a variable. The column heading could be changed to be anything that you want it to say.

Filtering an EVDRE report based on a Data Value

Everyone,
I have a report that has accounts in the columns without expansion. I am capturing various status codes in one account and I need to know how to filter the report based on a data value that is retrieved from the database for this account.I am also using the EVdre sort functionality along with an EVSUB in the after range which sub totals the Organization and Materials Dimensions in the rows. When I try to use native Excel to filter based on the value of the Status Code Account the report will only sort the top section of the report. As soon as it hits the Subtotals it stops filtering. Is there a way to filter the report in EVDRE based on the data value that is returned from the database.
The account that I want to filter on is Status Code. We can have two values in it either 10 = Submitted or 30 = Business Case. The users want to be able to filter the report to only show the status code of 10 (Submitted) for their Executives to review.

Hi eleasha,
I don't know if you will entertain FORMATRANGE.
But you can use formatrange to hide those rows you donot want to see.
You can use the CRITERIA as VALUE=<<anyvalue>> you want to verify and apply it on rows.
You can set the PARAMETER value as ROWHEIGHT=0, and apply to ALL.
Try this with the combinations you need to see.

I am having scenario where i need to jump from xcelsius to BW web report for details and i want this web report to be filtered by plant value .I have created the flash variable i have referenced the input value to the palnt cell in dashboard excel sheet. when i run the dashboard i am getting filtered out put in dashboard but in the detail web report i am getting all values and filter has no effect.
can anybody please help me regarding this?
