Hierarchical update

Hi Everybody,
Problem,
I have to update the parent node such that the sequence number of the parent is always greater than child.
(Assuming all the old(above) nodes obeys this condition)
My main logic is to get the difference between min (child_sequence_number) and the new sequence number .Add 1 to that difference.
Add the value to all the above that new sequence number .
value = P_EMP_GROUP_SORT_NBR - MIN_EMP_GROUP_SORT_NBR ) + 1Help me to write efficient procedure.
My problem is as shown.
create or replace procedure EMP_GROUP_SEQ_NUM_UPD (
   P_EMP_GROUP_SORT_NBR   in   number
  ,P_EMP_GROUP_ID         in   number
as
   V_EMP_GROUP_SORT_DIFF number;

Hi,
Sorry, I'm not sure I understand the question.
Whenever you ask a question, please post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements) so people can re-create your problem and test their solutions. If you can ask a question about commonly available tables, such as those in the scott schema, then you don't have to post any sample data.
Also post the results you want from the data you posted. If you're doing a DML operation (such as UPDATE) the results will be the state of the changed table after the DML.
The results of a CONNECT BY query are in the order you want (parents always come before their children), and ROWNUM will reflect that order.
Consider the following example from the scott.emp table:
SELECT     empno
,     mgr
,     LPAD (' ', 2 * (LEVEL - 1)) || ename     AS name
,     LEVEL                         AS lvl
,     ROWNUM                         AS rwnm
FROM     scott.emp
START WITH     mgr     IS NULL
CONNECT BY     mgr     = PRIOR empno
.    EMPNO        MGR NAME                    LVL       RWNM
      7839            KING                      1          1
      7566       7839   JONES                   2          2
      7788       7566     SCOTT                 3          3
      7876       7788       ADAMS               4          4
      7902       7566     FORD                  3          5
      7369       7902       SMITH               4          6

  • Launch of new NW2004s-BI Frontend from transaction rrmx

    Hi,
my customer has upggraded to NW2004s. <b>We are on Support Package 7. The NW2004s-BI Frontend is FEP701.</b>
    When I enter <b>transaction <rrmx> the "old" BW 3.5 Bex Frontend launches.</b>
    Is there a <b>way to have <rrmx> call the new NW2004s-BI frontend?</b>
I have been toggling the "Launch Legacy Version from RRMX" flag on and off in the new NW2004s BI Frontend but nothing but the 3.5 Analyzer lauches?
Can you help with that issue?
    Thanks

    Reason and Prerequisites
You have installed NetWeaver 2004s BI Add-On Frontend Patch 700, and you need a hotfix (advance correction) for certain problems that are caused by the BI Add-On (frontend).
This note will be updated as solutions for newly detected problems are available. Hence you should check the actuality of this note, if you have already applied hotfixes for the patch level of your BI Add-On.
    Solution
Attached to this note you will find frontend components (DLL files) that correct certain errors. You will find a list and descriptions of solved problems in the following. It is recommended to replace all respective DLLs in the setup directory of the BI Add-On with the attached DLLs. However, you can also selectively replace individual DLLs that are required for the solution of problems that you encountered. In the following it is described which DLLs are required to solve specific problems.
The Open/Save dialog and the Value Help dialog (selector) are components that are used by several SAP Business Explorer applications. Hence, if you encounter errors in one of those applications, please also check the dialogs sections below for a solution.

    Reason and Prerequisites
You have installed NetWeaver 2004s BI Add-On Front End Patch 02 and you require advance corrections for certain problems that are caused by the BI Add-On (front end).
    Solution
You can find front end components (DLLs) that correct the errors described below attached to this note. We recommend that you replace all attached DLLs in the setup directory of the BI Add-On. However, you can also replace only those DLLs required to correct a problem that occurred in your system. The following sections describe which DLLs correct which problems.
The Open/Save dialog and the input help dialog are components that are used by several SAP Business Explorer applications. Therefore, check whether the correction of a problem that occurred in one of the applications is described there.
SAP Business Explorer Web Application Designer
Up to now, there are no advance corrections.
SAP Business Explorer Analyzer and variable screen
To correct the problems in the Analyzer and the variable screenthat are described here, the files BExApi.dll, BExAddin.dll, BExAnalyzer.xla, BExVariableScreen.dll, BExLocalFormulaParser.dll, BExQueryDesigner.dll, BExSelectorAPI.dll and BExSelectorDialog.dll are required.
In the variable screen, the formats for the calendar year and calendar month characteristics have not been transferred correctly to the server. As a result, error messages occurred during the check.
When deleting an item in design mode, the system did not remove the displayed data of the item in analysis mode, rather it still displayed this data.
The display of the checkbox item and the radio button item has been corrected.
Errors occurred when you saved variants on the variable screen. All known errors have been corrected.
The security certificate for the Analyzer has expired and the advance corrections contain a new security certificate.
    SAP Business Explorer Query Designer
To correct the problems in the Query Designer that are described here, the files BExQueryDesigner.dll, BExSelectorAPI.dll and BExSelectorDialog.dll are required.
Executing in the Web no longer opens different browser windows, rather the system always uses the same one.
In certain cases, queries that contain attributes were not saved correctly and as a result, they could not be loaded. This problem has been corrected in all known the cases.
In certain cases, queries that contain cells were not saved correctly and as a result, they could not be loaded. This problem has been corrected in all known the cases.
If queries are saved incorrectly (for example with incorrect attributes or incorrect cells), the system issues messages for all cells that are incorrect and it refers to a possible solution. Currently, all text messages are in English and they will be translated in Support Package Stack 8.
You can now insert and resort attributes at any position. You can do this using drag and drop or cut and paste.
Formula variables with replacement path now also permit the setting of the dimension.
If you edited attributes for an object and you then saved your changes immediately without exiting the field, the system did not save the change in this field. This problem has now been corrected.
Texts of attributes are now displayed correctly after you load the query again (up to now, the system displayed only technical names).
Constant selection was not displayed correctly in the context menu of a selection. Now, the system displays a checkmark to indicate that constant selection is activated.
Attributes of display hierarchies are now displayed and saved correctly.
The system no longer displays operators twice in technical names in formulas. Up to now, [+] + was displayed.
The system no longer displays UIDs as technical names for structure items and cells in formulas.
Structures with hierarchical structure items: In certain cases, structure elements disappeared during the hierarchical setup. However, these were saved and they caused an endless loop on the server. This problem has been corrected. You can use the BEx Query Designer to open queries that were saved with these "vanished" structure elements and the "vanished" structure elements are displayed again.
Errors and terminations on the server now cause a message in the message window of the BEx Query Designer telling you to close and to restart the BEx Query Designer.
For variables with replacement path, the system displayed too many characteristics (some technical characteristics) for the replacement characteristic. This problem has been corrected.
Further consistency checks have been implemented and the corresponding messages are displayed in the message list. The system now checks not only queries but it also checks restricted and calculated key figures, variables, and cells.
If you change a reusable element, the system does not save it automatically. An information message is displayed telling the user that saving the element may affect other queries. You can save the element normally using a save function in the context menu. If the element is used in the query, it is always saved with the query.
When you exit the BEx Query Designer, the system checks which reusable elements have not yet been saved. The system displays a list containing all unsaved elements and it asks the user whether these elements should be saved.
There is a new menu function "Save All" that saves all changed reusable elements.
When you select text variables, the system now displays the correct variable type "Text variable" in the selection.
You were able to use cut and paste for conditions and exceptions, but this always caused a runtime error. The functions have been deactivated for the moment to avoid program terminations.
You can now define variables with a replacement from an attribute.
You can now also display only posted values in the value help (read mode D).
For text and formula variables with replacement path, you can no longer create on the technical characteristic 1TEXT or 1FORMULA. Any existing variables (that were created with earlier versions) are reported as incorrect and you should delete them.
For restricted or calculated key figures or for variables, if you made changes and you saved these changes online and confirmed with OK, the system sometimes issued message "Not saved - object is not changeable". This problem has been corrected.
When creating new reusable elements, the system only checked if the user was authorized to create new elements for this InfoProvider, but it did not check whether the user was authorized to create elements with the given technical name. This problem has been corrected.
You can now move and copy cells using cut and paste and copy and paste. Unfortunately, you still cannot use drag and drop.
In formulas, multiline headers of structure elements are correctly displayed in single lines and no longer in several lines.
In certain cases, hierarchy node variables were saved without a corresponding hierarchy assignment and you could not use them in the report that was being executed.
After each time you saved data, the context menu of the currently selected object was incorrect. This problem has been corrected.
You could not delete filter values directly in the BEx Query Designer, rather you had to do this in the filter dialog.
You could not change characteristics of attributes.
The system now issues a corresponding success message after each successful saving process.
    SAP Business ExplorerReport Designer
Up to now, there are no advance corrections.
    Open dialog/Save dialog
Up to now, there are no advance corrections.
Input help dialog (characteristic value restriction/filter selection)
To correct the problems in the value help dialog that are described here, the files BExQueryDesigner.dll, BExSelectorAPI.dll and BExSelectorDialog.dll are required.
You can now edit variables in the value help for all variable types and not only for characteristic value variables.
You can now create variables in the value help for all variable types and not only for characteristic value variables.
When changing an offset, negative offsets are displayed as -5 and no longer as 5-. Variable offsets are displayed directly in the right area of the value help.
Variables as the to-value of intervals no longer cause terminations.
In the value range editor, the value you entered manually was not transferred if you directly chose the transfer arrow.
In the value help for reference characteristics, the system did not display the variables for basic characteristics and therefore there were usually fewer variables than in the BEx Query Designer.
When you select the hierarchy, the system now correctly displays the date and version variables and no longer hierarchy variables as was incorrectly the case before.
When you call the value help from the variable entry screen, the system sometimes displayed all master data values (read mode "M") even though it should only display posted values (read mode "D"). This problem has been corrected.</i>

  • Diffrence b/w change run and roll up

    Hi all,
can u anybody throw light on this .
Wat is the difrence b/w aggregate rooll-up and chage-run.
    thanks in advance

    Hi Siggi,
    You say,
"The change run for master data and hierarchies updates the information of specially the navigational attributes in your already existing aggregates."
Do you mean to say a change run will not update Display Attributes?

  • How to update all hierarchies in Essbase Studio

    Hi All,
Currently I am building ASO cube using Essbase Studio. We are having 6[Stored]+1[Accounts] hierarchies in that 3 hiearchies contains 4 generations and remianing 3 hiearchies contains 3 generations with 20 attricbutes each. When I am trying to use "INCREMENTAL LOAD" with "Update all hierarchies" option records gets rejected. When I am using "Incremental Load" with "Rebuild hierarchies" it taking very long time.
Since our ware house is huge I cannot reset all and load from first.
Can someone assist me how to update the hierarchies on daily basis in less time
Note: In our cube we dont have any shared members
    Thanks,
    SatyaB

The == and !== are to set conditions for filtering. the ! meand not. In esscense these allow you to get a subset of rows that meet the conditions specified. In your case where Gender == "M" you will only get those rows where the value is "M". What you want to do is transform rows not filter them. I have not looked at studio enough yet to know how to do this, but a few things come to mind. First, you could use text to create the outline menbers instead of values from the tables, you could crete a reference table with the M = Male and F = Female and join to it to get the values or you could use a standard load rule and sql interface to load the data and just build the dimensions and drill through from Studio. I think I would opt for the second option

  • BW hierarchies not immediately updated: why ?

    Hi Colleagues,
Using BI 7.01, I experience the following problem with hierarchies loads from flat files.
I change data in the flat files and then, I load them against a hierarchy.
Everything seems OK (green in monitor) but indicates ' Update ( 0 new - 0 changed)'
No change is done in the hierarchy table of my object neither.
No change run is available in the list.
Magically, after a few minutes, data are updated.
My problem is that I would like to speed up this process because I use hierarchies in other programs and I need to know, at least, when the changes have been made.
    Thanks in advance,
    Best regards,
    Tom

It could be a reason but I checked and no change run has been carried out.
I always have a 'big' delay between the process ends and the display of the new hierarchy (from 1 minute to, sometimes, 20 minutes)

As an addition to the answer from Siegfried.
Very often SAP application developers define internal buffering tables (in ABAP) to store some information for the fast access. Initialization of these tables are normally programmed in some function modules that are called in certain scenarios. However I have seen the cases where initialization was not intended at all. Developers motivated it with the fact that corresponding functions are not designed to call them in batch many times or with large data volumes.
If such kind of initialization does not happen, you are going to have memory issues.
    I would proceed as follows:
    1. Run your job in foreground
    2. In SM50/SM66 monitor the memory consumption of the work process.
    3. When it goes high, debug the work process from SM50/SM66.
    4. Being in debugger, look at the memory areas and find out objects that occupy a lot of memory.
    5. Display these objects (normally internal tables) in ABAP editor and use "where used list" to find the places where they are initialized.
    6. Try to call initialization functions/subroutines in your coding after each data package and subsequent commit work and wait.

  • Updating Hierarchies in BI

We have 2 hierarchies defined under 0CUST_SALES.  But, in my infopackage only one of the hierarchies are available for selection.  I would like to be able to update the other hierarchy but I can't seem to find out how to do that.  Any one have any idea on what I need to look at?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi,
Reason why hierarchy not visible in InfoPackage:
When a stand alone hierarchy in ECC / R3 ( say Name A ) is used as a sub node(Child) for any other hierarchy ( say A1 ) then it will not be visible in InfoPackage.
    How to update copied version:
You can just create a hierarchy with just one node and attach the original hierarchy, so that copied one also always get loaded using InfoPackage.
Assigning points is the only way of saying thanks in SDN.
    Thanks,
    Kumar.

  • Updating Physical Cube Tables and Hierarchies OBIEE 11.1.1.7

    OBIEE 11.1.1.7
I have imported a MSAS Cube, modeled it and created a presentation layer. I now have some new hierarchies I need to add to the phyicial layer.
How do you import new Cube Tables and/or Hierarchies?
When I select the Import option it creates a new OLAP database and connection pool, I am unable to successfully move those changes into the existing OLAP Connection.
I have been through the documentation and it reccomends importing over a manual process. However I am unable to figure out how to do this with the import process.
Oracle® Fusion Middleware Metadata Repository Builder's Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition
    11g Release 1 (11.1.1) Part Number E10540-05
Chapter 8 Working with Physical Tables, Cubes, and Joins
There is a section called Working with Multidimensional Sources in the Physical Layer, in this section is says
"Each multidimensional catalog in the data source can contain multiple physical cubes. You can import the metadata for one or more of these cubes into your Oracle BI repository. Although it is possible to create a cube table manually, it is recommended that you import metadata for cube tables and their components"
The New Utilities feature(s) is really cool, but it doesn't work for OLAP connections.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Michael,
it works, but its a bit tricky. I did it with Oracle OLAP and I think it must be similar with other OLAP Databases.
Rename your existing Database in Physical Layer to the name Metadata Import dialog would create. With Oracle OLAP the "Data Source Name" ist used. Just try it once.
Unfortunately you can not merge dimensions and cubes as it is with relational Objects . So you have to delete the cube and dimensions you will import from you renamed Database in Physical Layer. Of course the mapping between physical and business model will be lost
Now you can import your modified OLAP-Cubes and Dimensions and it should be placed in your renamed Database in Physical Layer
Open the sources of your logical tables in business model and add the Dimensions or Cubes in the "General" Tab. Move to the Tab "Column Mapping" and check if mapping is OK. If not (this will be the case, if you customized the column names), you have to do the mapping from the scratch .
I recommend to use the original names from the data source. If you need another name for a column, just create a new logical column and use "Derive from existing columns". Now you can reimport OLAP Metadate quicker because the Mapping is done automatically.
    Hope this helps
    Regards Claus

  • Updating a hierarchical data structure from an entry processor

I have a tree-like data structure that I am attempting to update from an AbstractProcessor.
Imagine that one value is a collection of child value keys, and I want to add a new child node in the tree. This requires updating the parent node (which contains the list of child nodes), and adding the child value which is a separate entry.
I would rather not combine all bits of data into one value (which could make for a large serialized object), as sometimes I prefer to access (read-only) the child values directly. The child and the parent values live in the same partition in the partitioned cache, though, so get access should be local.
However, I am attempting to call put() on the same cache to add a child value which is apparently disallowed. It makes sense that a blocking call is involved in this operation, as it needs to push out this data to the cluster member that has the backup value for the same operation, but is there a general problem with performing any kind of re-entrant work on Coherence caches from an entry processor for any value that is not the value you are processing? I get the assertion below.
I am fine with the context blocking (preventing reads or writes on the parent node value) until the child completes, presuming that I handle deadlock prevention myself due to the order in which values are accessed.
Is there any way to do this, either with entry processors or not? My code previously used lock, get and put to operate on the tree (which worked), but I am trying to convert this code to use entry processors to be more efficient.

reentrant calls to the same Coherence service is very much recommended against.

  • Updating Costcenter Hierarchies

    Hi all,
I am using a rule file to build dimension hierarchies and have automated the process by using Maxl file. Can someone tell me how to run that Maxl file using batch file?
For some reason when I push the new data files with hand made changes to cost center into essbase, the added cost centers dont show up in the hierarchy. Can some explain why the changed data file would elements would not load into the file.
    Thanks
    Rizwan

As this is the planning forum I will ask the question, is it a planning application, if it is a planning application you have to load metadata to planning and not to essbase.
    Cheers

  • Updates through a maintenance view

    Hi,
I'm having difficulty with maintenance views. I thought it ws possible to construct a maintenance view consisting of two or more tables and be able to update non-key fields in any table, provided the tables were linked via FK and had suitable cardinality of C:1.
However, this seems to be what I've found: you can only update non-key fields in the primary table. Although fields in the secondary tables appear as though you can update them (via SM30), any data changes you make are erased (as you look at it!) when you hit Save - the original value returns.
Is my assessment correct? SAP Help is vague and ambiguous on the matter.
Also, maybe someone could explain the cardinality requirements. SAP Help states the FKs must have N:1 cardinality, but as far as I can see it should be C:1.
    Thanks,
    T.

    Hello Tenchy
You are talking about view clusters (SE54) where you have hierarchical linked tables that can be maintained together.
Obviously, you cannot edit key fields of the primary table. Instead you need to use execute two operations:
    - DELETE entry
    - CREATE new entry
It goes without saying that the same operations are propagated to the dependent entries in secondary tables.
The cardinality between primary table and secondary table should be 1:N meaning
    - for each entry in the primary table you can have none or multiple entries in the secondary table
    - you cannot have secondary records for which the corresponding primary record does not exist

Upgrade seemd fine, issued reboot command and instead of my normal reboot I was greeted with "machine check error" flashing in my upper left hand corner. Syslinux never came up. I powered off manually and pulled the battery, subsequent reboot went off without a hitch.

I have never seen this error and my googlefu return issues with overclocking which I am not doing. Any info on the subject I'd love to hear.
    Cheers.
EDIT: Was only happening when issuing 'systemctl reboot' so I switched back to 3.10.10-1-ARCH and reboot command now works.

Well, I can tell you that this kind of error is not OS related, but rather a HW thing.  It happens where there is a general detection of something going wrong.  Sometimes it can happen randomly and might not be an indication of a problem.  But sometimes it can be caused by things that are improperly functioning within the system like bad capacitors.
Unfortunately I don't really know what to do about such things except give you machine a proper inspection.  But if things are working fine, and continue to do so, I wouldn't worry about it.  If it becomes a regular occurance, then I'd worry.

  • If I make minor keyword updates in Bridge, how do I update an existing catalog to catch the changes?

Is there a way to update the LR3 keyword hierarchies in existing LR catalogs for minor changes done in Bridge?
I have started to use LR for the first time.  I have about 50K photos that are key worded from within Bridge in maybe a hundred sub dirs.  The hierarchies seem to work somewhat differently in Bridge than in Lightroom catalogs & don't seem to handshake with each other. Apparently I should have originally turned on the keyword hierarchies in preferences in the Bridge when I originally set the keywords. I have hundreds of keywords without hierarchies. Now I want to correct the (missing delimiters) hierarchies in LR3 (using the most efficient method).
(The hierarchies do not show up on Bridge filters, so I saw no reason to use them originally, when I had fewer keywords).  Correcting the hierarchy in LR seems to not go back and correct the Bridge hierarchies.  So if there is a way to get the keyword hierarchy to update back from LR to Bridge, that would be the easiest way to fix the hierarchies, but I don't see how to do it.  Any suggestions?
    thanks,

It will depend on if you saved the metadata from LR to the file or not. If not and you update the keywords in bridge, you will loose one or the other your choice.
If you saved the metadata, then its a simple matter of just reading the metadata into LR or syncing that file.
If you plan on editing metadata in bridge from time to time, then you need to get in the habit of saving the metadata (ctrl-s in windows) from LR or turn on autosave.
