High Data Volume Design request

Hi All,
I have a request from my business partners for a high volume data transmission from SAP BI system to SAP ECC system.
volume of data approx 4 million.
what is the best design approach recommendation for this kind of load via SAP PI?
what need to be taken care if we are going to do a IDoc to IDoc scenario or IDoc to PRoxy scenaio? -> i am not a abap developer
this is going to be async scenario. i assume IDOC is the best approach for handling this kind of load.
what need to be taken care during the idoc development in the sender system? (as i told i am not a abap guy), so that the load in each idoc is acceptable for SAP PI (max 5 mb) and all the data is streamed to SAP ECC system.
PS:we are running on SAP PI 7.0 SP15 system.
Regards,
Prakash.

Since your volume of record is really high, you can try design using proxies. IDOC is not really good approach considering the volume of records. If the option is only IDOC to go then limit your records for each message transaction. Hope that helps.

  • Performance: How to manage large reports with high data volume

    Hi everybody,
we actually make some tests on our BO server system, to define limitations and oppertunities. Among other things we constructed a large report with a high data volume (about 250.000 data records).
When executing the query in SAP Query Designer it takes about 10 minutes to display it. In Crystal Reports we rebult the row and column structure of the query. The data retrieval in Crystal Reports Designer last about 9 minutes - even faster as in the query.
Unfortunately in BO InfoView the report is not displayed. After 30 minutes of loading time we get a timeout error RCIRAS0244.
    com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.managedreports.ras.internal.ManagedRASException:
    Cannot open report document. ---
The request timed out because there has been no reply from the server for 600.000 milliseconds.
Also a refresh of an report with saved data is not possible.
Now we are asking us some questions:
    1. Where can we set the timeout for InfoView to a value larger than 30 minutes?
    2. Why is InfoView so slow compared to Crystal Designer? Where is the bottleneck?
    3. Whats the impact of SAP single sign-on compared to Enterprise logon on the performance?
Thanks for any helps and comments!
    Sebastian

    Hi Ingo,
    thank you for your reply.
I will check the servers and maybe change the time limits.
Unfortunately we have a quite slow server system that probably cause this timeout. In CR Designer we have no problems, its really quick. Is it to expect that CR Designer and InfoView have almost the same performance?
Another nice point: When we execute the query in SAP BEx Query Designer it takes about 10 minutes to open it, in Crystal Designer it needs just about 5-6 minutes. We integrated exactly the same fields in the report, which exist in die SAP BEx query.
    What may cause the difference?
    - Exceptions and conditions in the query?
    - Free characteristics in the query?
    - anything else?
    Best regards,
    Sebastian

  • Anyone using durable topics with high data volumes?

We're evaluating JMS implementations, and our requirements call for durable subscribers, where subscribers can go down for several hours, while the MQ server accumulates a large number of messages.
Is anyone using Sun MQ in a similar scenario? How is it holding up?
Sun folks, do you know of production installations that use durable topics with high data volumes?
    thanks,
    -am

We are using a cluster of Suns JMS MQ 3.6 with durable message queues and persistent topics. In a 4 hour window each night we run over 20,000 messages through a queue. The cluster sits on two Windows servers, the producer client is on a AIX box and the consumer is running on a iSeries. Within the 20,000 messages are over 400,000 transactions. Each message can have many transactions. Yes, the iSeries client has gone down twice and the producer continued with the message queue pilling up, as it should. We just use the topic to send and receive command and status inquiries to the clients. So every thing works fine. We have only had a couple issues with a client locking and that maybe fixed with sp3, we are in the process of installing that. The only other issue we have had is that once in a while the producer tries to send an object message with to many transactions and it throws and JMS exceptions. So we put a cap on the size of the messages, if its over a set number of transactions it send each transaction as separately, otherwise it sends all the transactions in one object type (linked list of transactions) message. Compare the cost of this JMS system with Tibco or Sonic and youre looking at big savings.

  • Advice with High Data Volume

I have to make a process that gets like 100.000 records from a data base at onces and then i have to treat one by one. The method i use after executing a query puts all the data in a Recorset object.
I would like to know if the Recorset is going to be able to treat so many data fast or if thare is any other Class better to do this kind of programs. This process has to be as faster as possible.
I am alse wondering that maybe is faster to read several times from the data base in order to get less Data than reading only one tme an get all the data.
I am realy need to program this process the most optismt way posible.
If someone can help me or knows where can i find information about this topic i would realy apreciate it.
    Thanks

You can do it faster if you avoid to transport data between database and the java program, do the process entirely inside de database.
define your java loop inside the database doing a complex sqlstatement or a stored procedure written in the database language... for example, if you are working with sql server then use a stored procedure with transact-sql.
A stored procedure allows you to call a program with parameters that resides into the database, and the database engine will execute it.
the statement to execute throught jdbc is something like:
    "execute sp_my_stored_procedure param1, param2, ... , paramN"
where param1... paramN are all needed parameters to do your process, then inside the database must be a stored procedure it could be something like
    create procedure sp_my_stored_procedure
    @param1 type,
    @param2 type
    @param3 type
    ) AS
// HERE THE CODE of the procedure
    declare my_cursor insensitive cursor for
    SELECT column1, column2 ... columnN
    where ...
    open my_cursor
    //get a row
    fetch my_cursor into @column1, @column2 ... @columnN
    while ( @@fetch_status = 0 ) begin
    // process the row
// do operations on columns values with params
    // i.e.
    @result1 = @column1 - @column2 * @param1
// do operations with results of your ops ( update, insert... )
update anotherTable set value = @result1
    where id = @column5
    // get the next row
    fetch my_cursor into @column1, @column2 ... @columnN
    end
    close my_cursor
    allocate my_cursor
    PD: use transactions if needed

  • Very high data traffic generated by Nokia Messagin...

Is anyone else seeing really high data use on their phone log following last week's Messaging outage?
Up until last week's outage, the data traffic generated by Messaging was about 5kb an hour (with no new emails sent or received). Presumably this small amount of data traffic results from the Nokia email server "pinging" the phone periodically to keep the connection open.
But after last week's outage and issues with passwords being requested etc etc, I saw that the data traffic generated by the Messaging app has gone through the roof - about 400 - 500kb an hour!  Again, this is with no new emails sent or received - so theoretically is just the server pinging the phone to keep the idle connection open!
I reinstalled Nokia Messaging on my phone (E61i) - no difference - the data generated by the Messaging app is still 400 - 500 kb an hour (it stops when I take Messaging offline).
I have friends roaming in Ireland and their phone has had the same problem - the data traffic generated by their Messaging app is sky high and they have had to shut it down because of the high cost of data whilst roaming.
I also newly installed Messaging on another phone (N95) that I have, using a brand new email account and a new T-mobile SIM card, and guess what - that phone also has sky high data traffic due to Messaging.
What is going on??  Can someone at Nokia Messaging please sort this out?  Anyone roaming with Nokia Messaging enabled is facing hugh data charges from their network.

The data traffic occurs in phones which are on a home network (mine in the UK) and on a roaming network (my friends traveling in Ireland).  Interestingly, I've now checked with another friend who is roaming in Italy and they also use Messaging but haven't seen any high packet data issues with their phone.
The data traffic shows up in the Packet Log, as well as on the actual T-Mobile network account (plus the charges for the data!)  Accessing a T-Mobile UK account online shows all packet data use - in this case, 120-150 kb every 15 minutes, whereas before last week it was 1-2kb every 15 minutes.
When I "Go Offline" with Nokia Messaging, the high data traffic stops, both on the Packet Log and network account, so I am 100% certain this is due to Messaging.

  • Using RSCRM_BAPI with Huge Data Volume

    Hi,
I am using RSCRM_BAPI to extract a query output into a database table. But, the query returns a large volume of data. I am not sure whether RSCRM_BAPI works fine when data volume is huge. Please suggest whether using this will be a good design or any other method is available to take care of such a scenario.
    Regards,
    Dibyendu

I have used RSCRM_BAPI when the records were exceeding 65000(limitations of excel) and it worked for me...
I think should work for you also....
    But there are some limitations....
like u cannot see texts etc,,,,
    Assign point if it helps,

  • Data base designs

    hai,
his is a basic design model but i need to know abt it ,i nned to do a data base design on a time table for an educational institution such yhat
    1)teachers
    2)students
    3)classes
    4)sections
    5)periods
are my diff objects how can i shedule a time table such that i can allocate each teacher to each class(means 1sem,2sem,3 sem...) and for each class i have 4 sections so that i have perday 8 periods so that how can i assign a teacher to a sction to aclass to a sem.help me in creating this data base design using<b> oops</b>

you are doing this for which version of SAP i.e. 4.7/ECC-5/ECC-6?
in order to meet industry specific typical requirements, SAP releases add-ons which are called as IS. Similarly for education SAP has released add-on which is called as "IS-HER (Higher Education & Research)" which has got more functionalities to address the requirements of educational institutions. you may have look at this.

  • SAP BW SRM Workflow data model design

    Hi All,
I have a requirement from my client to design SAP BW SRM Work flow report, in output user is interested for document flow/chain starting from Shopping cart (SC) - Bid invitation (RFx) - Bid (RFx responses) - Purchase order (PO) - Confirmation. There are standard datasources and DSO's for the same but I want to check experts ideas on data model design. I am thinking to build infosets on top of DSO's but it will impact Query performance as data volume for sure will be more and will increase down the line. In addition I need to consider below exceptions or restrictions as well:
    1. Document may/may not start with SC for example one possibility is document start at SC and end at Confirmation or start at RFx and end at PO etc.
    2. User is expected to see below various possibilities of document chain in report output:
SC - RFx - RFx responses - PO - Confirmation or
SC - RFx - RFx responses or
SC - PO - Confirmation or
SC - RFx - RFx responses - PO
    SC - RFx or
    RFx - RFx responses or
    RFx or
RFx - RFx responses - PO or
RFx - RFx responses - PO - Confir or
    PO - Confiramtion or
    PO
your help and ideas on this is greatly appreciated

    Hi All,
Any inputs or ideas on the data model design? Thanks for your help in advance

  • Time Capsule "Data" Volume won't Mount

I've been using a Time Capsule (4th Gen/2TB) for both my rMBP Time Machine backups and as a NAS device. After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I've experienced some problems. For the past few weeks, my Time Machine backups have been frequently interrupted with an error message stating that my Backup Disk is non-journaled and non-extended, and to please choose an alternate disk.  Although unsettling, after pressing return - and upon connecting the power cord (as I opted only to backup when using the power cord), Time Machine has always propmtly resumed.  This has probably occurred daily.
Today however, I've been unable to actually mount the Data volume, although my network is functioning properly, and I can access the Internet.  The Time Capsule status indicator is green, its icon appears in the Finder sidebar, and Airport Utility recognizes it and displays its correct settings.  Upon trying to connect (via Finder), however, an error message states that the server (in this case, the Time Capsule, I guess) can't be located, and suggets I check my network settings and try again.  Needless to say, the settings appear fine.
An admittedly brief search within this forum yielded no discussions concerning this specific problem, but I'm hoping the community's more knowledgable members will be able to at least provide some helpful insights, if not a solution to this problem.
The inability to back up my rMBP, access my spasebundle, or manage my externally stored files is very disconcerting.  Any solutions, or insights regarding this issue will be gratefully received.
    Michael Henke

There is clearly a bug in Lion that was exacerbated in Mountain Lion, which Apple is yet to fess up to. This loss of connection happens and there is no fix I can give you other than reboot to get the network running again.
I would strongly recommend against using the TC as a NAS.. it is designed as a backup target for Time Machine.
If you want a NAS then buy a true NAS, synology or Qnap, being the top products in that field. They have raid and automatic backup with units where you can access hard disks and can replace them. TC is a sealed unit without any way to back itself up. The design was never as a NAS.
Since your TC is an older one, can you try running 7.5.2 firmware. None of the TC made in the last year or more can go back that far.. they are all stuck on 7.6, the earlier Gen4 did have 7.5.2 which I think has better stability..
Now exactly what issues come up with ML I am not sure, but I would be interested to hear your experience.
Please do a backup particularly of your itunes before you start fiddling.
Is the TC main router in the network or is it bridged? I have a few suggestions for each type of setup, which may keep it running longer.. but nothing is absolute fix.
Note also the TC seems to be the main problem device.. but the OS does still have issues.. some changes were made with AFP security at Lion, which have not worked very well.

  • Can not view data in a request from psa

    Dear experts,
I have a problem with data in psa. If a select a mange of PSA, I see some request. I select one of them to see data. But there is no data. How is it possible?
If you delete a reques from psa, that request desappears from the psa, doesn't it?
    Thanks in advance,
    yeberri

it dosn't work. The problem is that you can see  different green requests in manage from psa, but it is not possible to see internal data.
If I try to see data with se16 and the psa table, there are data for one request, but not for request that i need.
any idea? is very important to rescue this request.
    thanks for your help.

  • How to handle data in a request object

I want to know the best way to handle data received from sql query to display on a jsp page and for page navigation. If I store data in a request object then the data is lost after displaying first page. When user hits Next link to view more data I need to do another query to database which I want to avoid. I display only 20 rows at a time. So if my query returns 100 rows I display 5 pages. I need to retain data when user hits next to view other pages. What is the best way to handle this?

By caching your resultset. There are caching custom tags that perform this function. Check out http://www.servletsuite.com/jsp.htm.

  • "Failed to retrieve data for this request" occurred when I tried to access a database.

    Hi,
I installed the sql server 2008 Client on my pc, so that I can connect to a remote sql server 2008 Enterprise cluster.  Here is what happened:
    0. Added myself as a db_owner on the two databases in the sql server cluster.
    1. On my windows xp pro, I typed the server name and log in.
    2. After I logged in, I clicked on the Databases to expand the node.  However, an error prompt says,
"Failed to retrieve data for this request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc)
The server principal "DomainName\MyName" is not able to access the database "DevicelockDB" under the current security context. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)"
I only need to connect to two databases that I created on the sql cluster.  I don't know why the DevicelockDB is needed before I can access two databases.  What does DevicelockDB do?  Do I need it for connecting to a database?  Let me know, thanks in advance.

I had the same problem , this one resolved the problem , thank you  deshmukhsdineshd

  • Failure to install SQL Server 2012 SP1 CU8/9 with a "Failed to retrieve data for this request." error

    Hi all,
Has anyone come across SQL Server 2012 SP1 CU8/9 failing to install with a “Failed to retrieve data for this request.” error.
The error is too generic for a useful search on web, for me at least anyway.
Had no problems patching a whole bunch of other servers in the same environment.
I’m no good at reading these error logs. For some reason the primary replica is referenced in the detailed log???
The CU8/9 patch has been run by both Domain Admins and local Admin with no luck.
We are trying to patch a secondary failover replica. (SharePoint 2013 is installed on this server.)

    Hello SQL Ranger,
Thanks for posting the detailed log. I dont have exact solution for this but I can give you some hint what could be reason patch has failed below message points to fact that there is some issue with account which is used to install CU patch.Have alook at
below log.It says that when patch was trying to get details from other node in cluster it was not able to.

IMO I strongly feel it is issue with the account. Microsoft has also documented about this for SQL Server 2008 .Have a look at following links
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-US;2000257
Please also assign privilege mentioned in below link

    Hope this helps

  • Converting data volume type from LINK to FILE on a Linux OS

    Dear experts,
I am currently running MaxDB 7.7.04.29 on Red Hat Linux 5.1.  The file types for the data volumes were
initially configured as type LINK and correspondingly made links at the OS level via "ln -s" command.
Now (at the OS level) we have replaced the link with the actual file and brought up MaxDB.  The system
comes up fine without problems but I have a two part question:
    1) What are the ramifications if MaxDB thinks the data volumes are links when in reality they are files.
(might we encounter a performance problem).
    2) In MaxDB, what is the best way to convert a data volume from type LINK to type FILE?
    Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Never saw any problems, but since I don't have a linux system at hand I cannot tell you for sure.
Maybe it's about how to open a file with special options like DirectIO if it's a link...
    > 2) In MaxDB, what is the best way to convert a data volume from type LINK to type FILE?
    There's no 'converting'.
    Shutdown the database to offline.
Now logon to dbmcli and list all parameters there are.
You'll get three to four parameters per data volume, one of them called
    DATA_VOLUME_TYPE_0001
where 0001 is the number of the volume.
open a parameter session and change the value for the parameters from 'L' to 'F':
    param_startsession
    param_put DATA_VOLUME_TYPE_0001 F
    param_put DATA_VOLUME_TYPE_0002 F
    param_put DATA_VOLUME_TYPE_0003 F
    param_checkall
    param_commitsession
After that the volumes are recognizes as files.
    regards,
    Lars
