Highlighting a checkbox using Javascript

I have four checkboxes on my form. I would like to highlight and change the size of a checkbox when it is selected using Javascript. Any help/input is greatly appreciated.

You can use something like this as the MouseUp event of the field:
if (event.target.value=="Off") event.target.strokeColor = color.black; else event.target.strokeColor = color.yellow;

Sorry, you are at a Java/JSP forum, not at a Javascript forum.
Besides, your actual problem is normally to be solved using CSS, not using Javascript and certainly not Java/JSP.

Using Javascript To UnCheck A Checkbox

Hi,
I have a select list with two options in. When one of them is selected I have two checkboxes that I want hiding and setting to unselected. I can hide and show them fine using *$x_HideItemRow* and *$x_ShowItemRow*, but when I hide them I want the setting as unselected.
Have tried using html_GetElement(pThat).checked = false; but when the items are displayed again they are still displayed as selected.
Can anyone show me how to uncheck a checkbox using javascript?

Simon,
Use firebug in firefox to see what's happening. The name of your item is applied to an HTML fieldset element that contains the actual inputs of type checkbox. Each of those has a name based on the item name with "_X" on the end as in PXX_ITEM_NAME_0.
You'll need to select the one you want to check/uncheck directly by adding the underscore and the number. Also, you can use $x over html_GetElement (just shorter).

Is this the correct way to get the value of a checkbox using javascript
var rem = 'P525_REMOVE_TEST';
var isRem = $x(rem).value;
alert(isRem);
The checkbox return value is 'YES'
I am getting undefined. What am I doing wrong?

Check box will return data only if it is checked otherwise it will return null.
Put this code in "HTML Form Element Attributes" of your check box

I'm working with JSF 1.2 R.I. and I would like to add some javascript to my datatable to be able to control the onclick event on a row.
At the moment I have just added a checkbox to be able to know which row the user wants to select but I'm not satisfied with this solution.

Basically, to add javascript to a PDP (or timesheet page for instance),
edit the page
add the content editor webpart
set it as hidden
copy paste the code
Note that you can also point from the content editor webpart to a js file embedding the javascript code

Using Javascript to hide objects that have no "binding" tab?

Hello,
I'm attempting to create a form that uses checkboxes to hide a variety of fields. I've run into a problem though; it seems that only text fields have a binding tab (unless I'm missing something). Is there a way for me to do show hides for images and text boxes? When I hold ctrl and hover over these items there is a small circle with a red line through it, which seems to express that it is impossible to manipulate them using javascript.
For the record, I'm using javascript as seen below:
BusinessDBAname.presence = "hidden";
If someone had any definite answers on this I'd really appreciate it.

sorry to say that, but this is a really bad form design.
There are a couple of things you can make it better.
1. Give unnamed subforms a suitable naming
2. Use subforms to organise your form
3. Don't embed fonts at all when you only use the default fonts Arial or Myriad Pro
4. Don't select the checkbox to embed images (they will get embedded always but this method requires more space)
5. Set option to prevent script changes in the form to automatically, otherwise the changes wont be saved
Ok, I suggest you to create a set of subforms to represent your Section 1 - 9.
In each subform you then add a subform for business and sole proprietor.
Into those subforms you then put the desired fields, images etc.
This allows you much shorter scriptings because you only have to change the presence of the surrounding subforms to show/hide an entire set of objects.
You form design finally should look something like this.
form1
     Maserpage
     PayeeSetupRequest
          Section1
               Business
                    Textfield1
                    Textfield5
               SoleProprietor
                    Textfield1
                    Textfield3
          Section2
               Business
                    Textfield1
                    Textfield5

Using JavaScript to remove the loading overlay?

Is there a way to remove the loading overlay. It appears to block events.
I want that if the slide hasn't loaded within say, 30 seconds, then present the user with a message to go to next slide or wait.

How find the missing glyph using javascript [like indesign preflight], and replace same glyph available font or

The situation:
I want to use basetext font, but some of the glyphs are missing in it, and are highlighted with pink boxes. common font [stix, etc.] have much more glyphs than basetext font. I can apply common font [stix, etc.]manually for each of the missing glyphs or insert two character and use kerning set it up, but it is tedious.
Question:
How find the missing glyph using javascript [like indesign preflight], and replace same glyph available font or insert two character and use kerning set it up?
Any one know how to do this?

How can I use javascript to access netui data-repeater item?

I have a 2-dim table of <netui: checkbox> using a <netui data-repeater> to interate over a contact email (column) and an event (rows).
          My problem is that I need to have a select all checkbox at the bottom of each column (per email) and be able to select all event for an email (when checked) and deselect all when the checkbox is unchecked.
          I can do it in java page flow but I can't have a page refresh.
          I want to do it on the page with javascript. The problem is that using
          document[getNetuiTagName("aform", this)][getNetuiTagName("email1", this)].checked
          with the "tagId" in each <netui> tag I can't access each iteration of the data repeater (I only get the last one).
          What I need is a reference to each repeater element. I do not know how many rows or columns I will have (based on the data).
          Is there any way to reference the obeject itself in javascript so I can loop through the items in the netui data-repeater?
          This is what is rendered in the html netui mapping:
          netui_names.con1="portlet_2_3wlw-checkbox_key:{actionForm.opts[4].cons[1].selContact}"
          I really want to be able to access this and loop through the arrays for opts (event) and cons(email)

i dont know anything about delphi but from the experience from VB if the connection to oracle in delhpi doesnt recognise object type data field. Then try using OO4O drivers from oracle.if u use these drivers then u can access the sdo_geometry field !

Assume a default date (mm/dd/yyyy)with in a textbox. On getting the focus to the textbox the focus should be on mm(should be highlighted), when it is replaced by a month, it should automatically focus on the date dd, when dd is replace it should get to yyyy. How to achieve this using javascript.

Double clicking does not highlight entire word in javascript console

when using javascript console - it fails to highlight entire word if it contains underscores.
Here is some sample text as it appears in console :
ERROR - ReferenceError: curr_msg_stream is not defined
if I double clicked on msg which appears in middle of word : curr_msg_stream
it fails to highlight entire word ... it will only highlight msg .... google chrome behaves correctly on this

Try alerting "(theRadio.type)".
If you are getting the proper checkbox instance then the alert should display "checkbox". If that much is working then checking the checkbox is as simple as
var theRadio = eval(func(grpId + htmlb_radiobuttonmodifier.substring(3,7)+ "1"));
if(theRadio)
theRadio.checked = true

I use this site a lot - not because I'm particularly keen on MS/IE but because at the bottom of each entry you get confirmation of whether or not the setting/attribute/etc is standard or not and the pages are kept up to date.
I have to say that this is only the second time I've come across someone trying to use this. The first time we just decided to leave it. I can see the importance of using it to stop someone overriding styling, but as I mentioned above, it is possible to create an entire script tag using javascript and, therefore, you can override it. Seems silly to me, but there you go!
It would also be better, in my view, if they had used a better word for this setting - something like java's "final" - as, the first time I saw it I took it to mean "make more bolder" or "highlight it" or somesuch thing.

When I try to show the value, it says "undefined".
how could I see the actual value of the select list LOV and change it to 1, for example?
