Risolto!
Lanciato installazione di windows 8.1, eliminato completamente tutte le partizioni dal disco secondario e creato nuova partizione, a quel punto mi ha permesso di proseguire e completare l'installazione.

Ciao, io ho lo stesso tuo problema, e cercando un po' per la rete mi sono accorto che è un problema di molti che hanno acquistato l'iMac con installato direttamente Lion (come il sottoscritto), oppure anche che hanno effettuato l'aggiornamento da Snow Leopard.
Per il momento il bug consiste nel fatto che se accendi l'iMac con tastiera e mouse bluetooth accesi, ti fa vedere la bara di avanzamento e poi parte lentamente, con la scheda wifi non inizializzata (da qui se clicchi sull'icona wifi il messaggio è "nessun hardware").
Come se il software generasse un conflitto tra wifi e bluetooth (a livello hardware è la stessa scheda che gestisce entrambe le connettività).
Insomma la soluzione per ora è (almeno, a me e a molti altri funziona), quella di accendere l'iMac con mouse, tastiera, trackpad ecc..spenti, e accenderli solo una volta che ti ritrovi sulla schermata di login.
In questo modo la scheda di rete non da nessun problema nemmeno al primo avvio, e non ti sarà necessario dover riavviare ogni volta.
Comunque un nostro compagno di disavventure in america ha scritto che ha contattato l'apple care per comunicare questo bug e questa soluzione, e pare che presto apple invierà un aggiornamento per fixare questo bug.

Forse trovata soluzione, provate così:
Fate il Backup di tutto
Fate triplo-click sulla linea sottostante per selezionarla per intero:
~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices/
Click destro o control-click sulla linea selezionata
Selezionare "Mostra nel Finder" dal menu contestuale.
Verrà individuata la cartella della riga sopra contenente un solo file.
Chiudete iTunes.
Spostate nel cestino il file contenuto nella cartella.
Riaprite iTunes e provate la sincronizzazione.

You could've backed up your iPad prior to the "forced" upgrade which, by the way, you could have cancelled. iTunes doesn't upgrade your iPad, automatically, on its own. You had to click the Upgrade button to initiate the upgrade. You didn't have to do anything with that button. You can just leave it be.
iOS 8 is garbage on iPad 2 and 3 and even though iTunes keeps giving me the Update button option, I continually choose to ignore it.
Ignoring the Upgrade/Update button doesn't affect the normal iTunes/iDevice syncing/backing up operations.
You could've just left that button alone.
When was the last time you backed up your iPad?
While there is no way way to revert to a previous iOS version once you upgrade your iDevices iOS, iTunes saves multiple backups of your iDevice and if you backed up your iPad previously to this latest activity, you should be able to restore your iPad from an older backup that should appear by date when you plug your iDevice into your Mac, was for iTunes to launch and sync your iPad, then cancel the backup in progress and use the Restore function in iTunes to restore your iDevice from another previous backup version date.
If your current version of iTunes doesn't recognize your iPad2 under iOS 8, you need to check the iTunes update feature, in iTunes or in OS X Software Update feature in OS X Preferences panel to see if there is a iTunes update available for OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. -
