Home Theatre Docking Issues

I recently purchased a Samsung Home Theatre and when I place my ipod classic on the Dock I cannot control the Ipod.  All of the songs are arragned in Alphabecital order and they cannot be shuffled even though I have the songs shuffled on the Ipod and it only has the playlists that I created...Please help!!

What model docking station do you have? If it's the TDM-IP1, Sony doesn't list it as being compatible with the iPod touch, and from what I've read on other sites, the TDM-IP1 indeed doesn't work with the iPod touch. Many iPod peripherals, particularly older ones, are compatible with the older iPod design but not with the iPod touch or iPhone.
If you have some different model of docking station, it will probably help if you post the model number so people know what you're working with.
Regards.

I picked up this system yesterday and connected the Apple TV via hdmi but got no audio or video. Does it matter what brand of hdmi cable? Are there cables that are copyright compliant and some that aren't? Is this the issue or something else?

  • How can I play my ITunes music stored on my IMac via Apple TV through my home theatre system and control it from my IMac?

My ITunes library is stored on my IMac which is connected to B&W desktop speakers. My music system is connected to my IMac via USB through a Benchmark DAC. I use Pure Music software and am able to simultaneously play music on my IMac in my study and my main music system in the living room.
My home theatre system is connected by Apple TV via the home network to the IMac. I can access my ITunes library from the TV using the Apple TV remote control. But when I try to play music from the computer and stream to the TV / home theatre, I am unable to make the connection. I tried activating Airplay, but I still cannot get the music to play.
I would appreciate any advice on how to set this up.

Thanks for the suggestion. I subsequently realized that my Airplay settings on ITunes are ok. The problem is with the settings on Pure Music. I still havent figured this out. When i stream using just ITunes, it works fine, but when I play music using ITunes / Pure Magic, I still have an issue with Apple TV.

  • How to output video to TV or Home Theatre? (iphone)

How to output video to TV or Home Theatre? (iphone)

I recently bought a AV projector and was asked by a smirky but envious friend the same question, after watching me hook up my powerbook, having already purchased an ipod video 30gig with the UNIVERSAL DOCK with remote control and ifrared remote control I remembered reading about it also working with the iphone, so it having a s-video output with a audio mini output port, I plugged the iphone into it and it came up with a little message saying this is not a iphone compatible device, and asked me to turn on airport, I ignored the request and it just clicked over to the itunes section, I picked a video and presto instant big screen projection TV off the iphone, How IMPRESSIVE! then I went to utube launched a utube video and wow how cool it also played seamlessly, although it pays to let the Youtube videos buffer for a minute to get a better play off the EDGE net work verse the Wi-Fi, I plan on having lots of out door theatre shows this summer with this very compact multi-media package, What a hoot! Get the universal dock no glitches!

  • Mac Mini chirps - connected to home theatre

I have a Mac Mini, mid 2010, that I use as a media server and it's connected to my home theatre. It currently runs Mac OS X v10.9.5 and as long as I've had it, no matter what version of Mac OS, there's an occasional chirp. It sounds like the first note of a wolf whistle. The sound comes over the sound system and only occurs when playing iTunes Internet radio. I don't recall ever hearing it while listening to any of my own music and I have a huge collection.
I've turned off notifications for almost everything, thinking it was perhaps a notification causing the problem. Strangely, I still get notifications of what song is playing on the Internet radio station but I've not heard the chirp when I saw a notification display.
For what it's worth, I usually use my MacBook Pro to control the Mac Mini via screen sharing. Also, because of the large collection of media, I have a 3 TB hard drive connected that I designated as the location of my iTunes library.
This a quite annoying and thank heavens it doesn't happen while watching movies via iTunes directly or through my Apple TV.
I've read some threads on this site that suggested HD problems but that's highly unlikely in this case since the sound comes over my home theatre system speakers and I've absolutely no issues with the Mac Mini's operation. Since the demands aren't high for the Mac, given it's use, I don't in
    Any thoughts?

How connected? If HDMI and some other ways then you have to use TV's volume control

  • For those who use home theatres...

I'm ready to switch to mac in the next week or so by hooking up a mac mini to a lcd tv and using my mac mini from the comfy chair, a scenario which I'm sure a good few mac mini users are in. Now onto my question which is about how you guys manage your keyboard and mouse on your couch. What keyboard and mouse setup do you use?Should I get just a normal everyday wireless mouse and keyboard or would a keyboard with a touchpad be better?
Basically I'm just wondering how you manage your keyboard and mouse in your home theatre and what would be comfy to use? I await feedback from you all as it would be a big help, cheers.
      Windows XP

I use the apple bt keyboard and a logitech bt mouse. While I typically use it from a recliner, not the couch, I find it very convenient. I usually have the keyboard with 1/2 on my leg and the other 1/2 on the arm of the chair. I then use the mouse on the right arm of the chair. Works great. I also would have preferred the keyboard/trackpad though, but just didn't want to pay the money. One thing to be careful of is the difference between a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse and an RF (or other wireless) signalled one. The KeySonic wireless keyboard that is mentioned above is NOT bluetooth and will require a separate adaptor plugged into the computer that may or may not be included in the price. Range is also an issue with the other signal types. Bluetooth has a much better range (ideally up to about 30 feet/~10 meters).

  • What would my option be for home theatre

I just bought a new home theatre system recently with a blu ray player. I am buying a new 3d tv but dont want to waste my home theatre system. It is a 1000w system but most recievers i looked at run at 500-800w. I dont want to spend a fortune on a reciever but will a 700-800w reciever be ok with my speakers. Each speaker is roughly 180w. Any advice on what route to go would be greatly appreciated.

So many questions and issues here.
Did you purchase a HTIB?  What brand and model of speakers?
A speaker will most always sound better with more power to a point and as long it is clean power and not distortion.  What usually kills speakers are clipping amplifiers that produce distortion, not a good clean audio signal.
Is the 180W rating the nominal or peak rating that it can handle?
As far as 3D is concerned, I would be hesitant to jump on that right now.  If you TRULY want to create a home theater experience your money would be better spent on the integration of your speakers in the room.  You should also work on the acoustics and lighting in the room.
I feel that a better home theater experience is obtained by getting the lighting and room acoustics right.  I would also recommend getting a lesser display, say a 57" Panasonic, and then pay to have it calibrated by an ISF certified technician.  Make sure that you also calibrate the speakers using multiple methods and definitely the speakers in the right position.
You do realize that there is very little 3D content and you have to watch the TV in a dark room since the 3D technology pretty much reduces the output by 1/2.  You must also wear glasses all the time(yuch) and the best picture is really only within 30 degrees from being straight on to the TV.
My best advice, research, research, and more research before laying down your $$$.
I do not work for Best Buy and am not affiliated with them in any way. I like HT and want to help people improve their HT experience. "There is a LOT more than just having a TV to make a home theater"

  • Dolby Home Theatre v4 not working with windows 8.1

    Hello,
I have recently downloaded and updated my laptop to windows 8.1 and suddenly dolby home theatre v4 has stopped working. Battlefield 3 has also begun to crash randomly. Could you please help me?
    I have a Lenovo ideapad U410 intel core i5 3337U 1.8GHz Processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD.
    thank you
    Adam

    hi Adam,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
    Can you try the following:
    1. Uninstall Conexant HD Audio and Dolby Advanced Audio v2 (if applicable) under the Control Panel > Programs
    2. Reboot the PC and re-install the Conexant Audio Driver for Windows 8.1 (this contains the sound driver+dolby)
    Conexant Audio Driver
          Windows 8.1  (32-bit, 64-bit)
          Version 8.65.3.53
After installing, reboot the PC and observe.
As for Battlefield 3, have you tried running the game in compatibility mode? If you're getting Direct-X errors, check this thread.

  • Bravia Sync does not work with Sony Bravia XBR-55X900B and BDV-N8100W Bluray 3D Home Theatre System.

Bravia Sync does not function with my Sony Bravia XBR-55X900B and Sony BDV-N8100W Bluray 3D Home Theatre System.  The Sony Bravia XBR-55X900B does not list the Sony BDV-N8100W on the Bravia Sync device list.  Does anyone have an explanation or solution for this?

Please use a component cable.  With either RCA or optical for audio.  That is the quickest fix.  For current HDMI issues.
1.7 upgrade has been known to fix most of the HDMI issues.  Verizon is working diligently to roll out img 1.7.

  • Ios 5 iphone 4, no ipod app causes device to be not recognized by my home theatre cradle.

    Hi Guys,
I just got a 3D TV and LG 3D Blu Ray/Home Theatre for Christmas, i've been playing with for a few days but one thing that is driving me nuts is the Home Theatre came with a Iphone/Ipod Dock that allows control throught the Theatre. However when i put my iphone 4 (running IOS 5.0.1) into the cradle nothing happens it isnt recognized and doesnt start charging as it should. I had my friend over tonight and outta curiosity we put his Iphone 3G into the cradle and it started charging instantly and allowed music playback from the ipod app. I then realized the problem is that in IOS 5 the ipod app was removed and replaced by a Music and Video App, this is my problem i am experiencing i believe. Does anybody know a way to get this working? To be specific my LG Home Theatre is model HB906TA.
I'm sure i can still use it via the apple usb cable into a usb port, but it would sure be nice to use the dock as it was intended.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Rich.

I believe you should be talking to LG about this. It's their problem, not Apple's.

  • Digitally Connecting Soundblaster audigy 2 to sonydav s550 home theatre sys

Hi, I have a Soundblaster audigy 2 im not sure which model but it has a pink digital out audio socket on the back of it. My sony system has a digital optical in socket on it. I am having problems connecting them. I brought the following
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...gital&doy=26m5
as it has a miniplug adaptor which i thought I could use on one end to connect to my soundcard digital output and connect the other end to my home theatre system. Did I get the wrong wire? If so what wire will I need to connect them, will miniplug not fit on the soundblaster digital out, what does? I have messed around with the control panels with no luck. Anyone have any ideas, by the way Im new to this. Thanks in advance

    Hello all,
I am having a similar issue. I would like to connect my Audigy 2ZS to a Sony Reciever (STR DE-898) preferably via the digital out. The sound card and reciever are 25 feet apart.
I have read that the digital out on the Audigy 2ZS is specifically for creative lab speakers, and that if you connect it to a normal reciever that it may damage the reciever is this true?
Second, the other option that I have is to buy the 7. adaptor and connect RCA extension cables to the reciever.
The last option is to connect it to the regular headphone jack out, and use an extension cable to connect to the reciever (This is what I am currently using), but the sound quality is terrible.
Please help, I read the recent post on digital out ,which helped some, but still the question remains... if you connect the digital out on the Audigy 2ZS to a Sony receiver will this damage the receiver?Message Edited by asharabi98 on 05-27-2006 0:38 AMMessage Edited by asharabi98 on 05-27-2006 0:39 AM

  • Home theatre connect dts-6

Does anybody know if the home theatre connect?dts - 60?has better sound compared to analog imputs? I'm thinking of buying it for the sound.

It offers the convenience of deli'vering 6 discrete channels over a single cable, however since DTS is a lossy compression scheme it cannot offer better quality, actually it will introduce artifacts (almost undetectable if you are not expecting them and you haven't listened to the uncompressed audio). Unless?your receiver?doesn't?have analog inputs go for the HT cable, it's cheaper, you can expand to 8 channels?and if you don't run into electrical issues (such as a ground loop) it will degrade less the sound than?the compression.

  • Home theatre essentials to amp up your love life

I don’t know what the weather is like where you live, but right now we are going through a pretty epic heat wave here on the west coast. Don’t get me wrong, I live for summer, but when it’s hot and humid like this I find that a number of my otherwise “normal” activities often take a backseat to more pressing issues, like searching out air conditioning and cold bodies of water. For example, blow drying and straightening my hair (not going to happen), cooking anything in the oven (it’s already a million degrees in my apartment), and sadly, romance (there’s no way we are cuddling). But believe it or not, you can actually amp up the summer romance with a movie night at home, regardless of how unbearably hot it is outside; all you need are a few essentials to improve your home theatre room and you’re set!

One other item I thought I would pass along...
I noticed that the NVG589 gets terribly confused if a device behind it isn't setup properly first to be a static address.
Here's the behavior: Say you have a router of your own and you intend to give it one of the addresses from your static IP block. You decide to set it up first and don't make the changes initially in the 589 to force it to be a static IP of some kind-- whether in the private or the public block. You configure the router in this case with DHCP. Your router starts handing out addresses in its own IP range however your configured it.
But look what the 589 thinks is happening: it sees the DHCP client name associated with the same MAC address changing constantly. It makes entries for each different client name in its device list, sometimes aging out, sometimes not.
Now trying to save the private IP will result in a "missing data" error. Worse, trying to change things to a public static IP will result in similar messages about the IP being in the wrong range.
The same issue can also occur if the device was setup statically in the private range and you try to change it to a public static IP.
The only way to fix this:
    1) If you intend to advertise the router on an IP from your static block, disconnect all devices from the router and the RG, except for the router you want to setup. Wait for the RG to see them as "offline" in the device list. Alternatively, if you intend to setup another device or server on a Static IP, make sure it is the only device connected to the RG.
    2) Switch the IP allocation to "Public"
    3) Renew the lease on the device
    4) Go into the IP Allocation page and fix the IP to one of the public static IPs from your pool
    5) Reconnect all devices.
Generally, the best practice is to setup each static IP device before connecting any others to the RG.
