Hi...I was experiencing the same problem a lot of folks on here have been dealing with. In short, our MacBooks or MacBook Pro's showing that we were fully connected to a network but unable to get on the internet. I'm by no means a tech expert, but I just got BOTH my MacBook and MacBook Pro working. I sure hope this helps at least a few of you b/c this has been a MAJOR pain for me and it is definitely isolated to the MacBooks. I've got three other Macs and they've never had this issue. Here's all I did:
I unplugged and actually reset the wireless router by holding down the reset button for 10 seconds. Powered it back up.
Came back to my computers and once again the signal strength showed I was fully connected. Still no internet though. So...I clicked on the Airport signal strength icon in the upper tool bar. To restate, this already showed that I was connected at full strength but I had no internet. Anyway, I clicked "Other" or "Join Other Network" in the drop down list. In the next pop-up window, I entered the "new" network name. I even just used the exact same network name over again. My particular network used a WEP password, so I put the original WEP password in, clicked OK and bam!...Without even rebooting the computers, the internet is working like a charm on both MacBooks.

Sounds to me like you may have gotten a machine with hardware issues, but it's hard to say. It will shut down if it gets too hot, but that's not a normal occurrence. I have never seen a MacBook Pro shut down due to heat, even after lengthy 3D gaming sessions where the fans are running fast and the bottom of the machine is unpleasant to touch.
First thing I would try to do is reset the SMC. If that doesn't help, erase the hard drive and reinstall the system from scratch, which you should always do with a used machine anyway.
If a fresh system doesn't help, you'll need to get it checked out by Apple.
Edit: Oh, and sig is absolutely right... please don't post in all caps! It's very irritating. -

Hey everyone, I think I've had some success with my time changing issues. I originally posted this to another user as a follow up to her question, but I'm reposting it here. Hope it helps:

So i went to the apple store to meet with an apple genius to ask him why my phone's time kept moving up 1 hour everytime I synced my phone. Well he said that he's never seen this problem before, and after a trying a reset and restore he let me exchange my phone. The problem is that when I went to sync my new phone the problem still persisted. They told me it was probably something to do with my computer and its time zone settings.
So I get home and click on my computers clock in the bottom right hand corner to bring up the date and time properties and sure enought my time is correct, the date is correct and the time zone is correct (Eastern Daylight Time). So I look through the different tabs (Date & Time, Time Zone, Internet Time). The first thing I tried to do was to change where my computer syncs its internet time. It was originaly set on NIST time. I then switched it to Windows time, but this didn't do anything. My clock would still change when I synced to itunes. The next thing I tried was fideling around in the Time Zone tabs. I noticed that the box that says "Automatically adjust clock for daylight savings" was unchecked, so I checked it and my computer's time jumped an hour ahead. So I left the box checked but moved my clock one hour back (to the correct time), clicked on apply and left it at that. I synced my iPhone and voila! The time didn't change! It stayed on the correct time! To to make a long story short, make sure that you computer's clock is set on "automatically adjust clock for daylight savings changes, make sure your time zone is correct, and that the time is right when that box is checked. I hope this helps you. I'm glad I got a new phone out of the deal;)
Chris P. "As I mentioned in my post, whenever I checked that box the time would be incorrect. It would move up an hour. I've messed with this along time ago, way before I got my iphone. I think this had something to do with the daylight savings change that was implemented this year or last year. I dont remember if I never tried correcting it before, or if I couldn't, but this time I didn't have any problems correcting it. Anyway, since I couldn't correct it back then, I just left the box uncheck and decided that I would change the time manually when the next time change occurs. But it seems to work fine now so all is well.

First off, Apple you suck. I've wasted countless hours trying to figure this thing out. There's nothing like your OS failing to load after you install that piece of s itunes and then once you get it to load your computer won't recognize your dern ipod. All the while the wife and kids are hollering at you to get it done. (how in the H i became the family IT guy is beyond me. i've formally resigned after this episode). 5'rs are you kidding me?Apparently some Mac guys got bored and thought it'd be funny to screw around with PC owners. Your support is worthless. With that catharsis out of the way I found the following on the ipod shuffle discussion board. Mine works now. Probably for the moment. But i am enjoying it. Too bad you have to go through such a pain to get to.

I like you had many problems getting my ipod shuffle to work properly. I finally got a very helpful apple tech guy to help me, and now it works. Here's what we did (these are instructions for windows xp machines):
1. Go to apple.com/ipod/download, and download the latest software updater 2005 - 11 - 25.
2. Once downloaded, install the software updater.
3. Restart machine, with the ipod inserted in the USB port, power setting to OFF position.
4. Once cpu is restarted, go to Start -->ipod-->ipod software updater.
5. Click on "Restore" when the ipod updater window invites you to.
6. Once finished, disconnect Ipod, and turn the power switch to one of the "on" positions (it doesn't matter which).
7. Green light should come on and turn off. Turn off power switch a second time and wait 10 seconds.
8. Insert ipod back into USB port; it should automatically start itunes, which should then offer to setup your ipod.
9. It will automatically begin downloading all songs from your itunes library onto the ipod. WHen complete, you can disconnect ipod, and hopefully the thing will work.
NB: unlike other mp3 players, you MUST use itunes to download your music onto the ipod. you cannot click and drag music using windows.

After using online support twice, 2 trips to the Apple Store, talking on the phone with Apple care, and requesting a replacement, I finally got my son's Shuffle working. Both my children received Shuffles for Christmas. I had no problem getting my daughter's to work. When I plugged in my son's it opened iTunes, but the amber light blinked continuously and the iPod would not show up in iTunes.
Here's what I finally figured out:
My computer is connected to a network drive at my place of employment. Someone in my IT department notified me that a folder called iPod_Control was on the network drive and it showed me as the owner. I disconnected the mapped network drive from my computer and that solved the problem. That iPod will not work when my computer is connected to the network although the other iPod works just fine. Very strange...

My hotmail email account has been hacked into. I've changed my email password and hope this fixes the problem. Will my iMac system software now be infected and if so what should I do about it? Everything appears to be working ok. Is there a free to use software package available on the web, totally secure and reliable, which can scan my iMac for viruses and fix them if any are found.

Hi, I have small problem, for some time in music area I had two folders to use 1. Apple loops for soundtrack pro 2. Final Cut pro sound effects now both are gray and with out content may I know what happend
I just went through this and it appears that my Focusrite Saffire was the culprit. I connected all the outputs on the focusrite according to the way the jacsk on the back were labeled and then set up the multichannel speaker setup to match. Then I went into STP, created a pink noise clip and panned it around, the LFE, center and rears were not in the right place.
I reconnected the hardware to match the 5.1 pan pot in STP then changed the multichannel speaker setup to match. Everything appears to be correct now but I would have loved to have been able to just assigned the output busses to correct outputs in the saffire.
Next step is to pan that pink noise around with my SPL meter to calibrate the room. -
Password Problem for some applications:
Password Problem for some applications: I'm unable to download Adobe Reader, Microsoft updates. I have no password set to start the computer, applications such as Pages, Numbers, Keynote require no password for updates.
When I try to update Microsoft or Adobe Reader, first I try with no password, I get a hint and I know exactly what it means, but still unable to download. I don't know enough about passwords as to why some I can download and others I can't. So I don't know what I should read. I'm the only user of this computer and prefer not to have to deal with passwords. I'm using a MacBook Pro, Mac OS 10.9.3Oh what a tangled web we weave. I read up on keychain and I don't understand what I'm reading. Right now I cannot download my email on my computer, I can access it through the cloud. I'm sure it will be the same for the other iCloud feathers. When I go to preferences and select iCloud when ever I try to sign in I get some dialog box it shows up "A keychain cannot be found to store 1076701306. It doesn't matter whether I reset it or cancel it out iCloud preferences remains grayed out.
In keychain access on the left side under keychains and Read's local item, systems, and systems roots.
When I select local items nothing shows up to the right under the name column even when down under all items is selected nothing shows up. And nothing shows up to the right when under categories I selected the other options password etc. On the other hand when I select under keychains systems, systems roots I do get items to show up on the right side under names under all items, passwords, etc. Where do I start? -
After updating to ios6. I am unable to have voice control in my Fiesta Titanium has this been a problem for anyone else or just my problem?
I am an activist when it comes to rip-offs and I intend to set up a group to pressure the Ausralian government to legislate to make all computer software producers to make all new software compatible with all old software AT NO COST to the user.
I thought about that myself, but when it comes to Windows XP. It is peculiar that software companies get away with "selling" software that suddenly stops working properly. The problem with XP is of course an environmental one as well. There is a huge number of fully functional PCs that suddenly are no longer supported by Microsoft, and that are not powerful enough to take newer supported MS operating systems. What MS basically recommends people is to throw them away with a horrible cost for our environment. -

I've posted a few times about this in the past and with your guys help I have gradually advanced.
Basically, all I want to do at the moment is fill the lowest position a counter can go in in a game of Connect Four.
The first counter goes to the bottom, then if you place another counter in the same column it goes above the previous counter you put in that same column and so on...
I have set up my 2D array and initialised integers for each player so when a counter is red the player = 1 and when yellow player = 2.

Computer iMac7,1 has been giving sundry problems for sometime. Within the last six weeks I have reinstalled the OS (Snow Leopard),without affecting the overall contents of the hard drive.
±3 weeks later the problems became more serious and I againreinstalled the OS and installed OS 6.6.7 from the internet.
I used the option to restore from the external backup driveand went back some time as it was my intention to reinstall individualcomponent in an attempt to find out where the problem might lie. This hasintroduced an entirely new problem! If I open Time Machine from the desktop itappears that all backups from late 2009 to June 2011 are intact. But, in thiscase there are none of the restore functions &c on screen. The latter areonly shown if Time Machine is opened from the menu bar or from the dock but, inthis case, available are only backups in late 2009!
I also opened the Apple Hardware Test in an attempt toestablish the nature of the problem. The ‘quick’ version said there’s nothingwrong; the more detailed one reported “Error detected, 4HD/11/40000004.” I haveagain tried to employ this test but nothing I do can induce it to open!!!
What to do? I need help urgently and would appreciate anyadvice that offers solutions to the problem.To check your S.M.A.R.T status open disk utility and click on your drive and then click on the info icon.

In the Uninstall MacKeeper thread, I learned about the Free Download called "Easy Find". This is such an amazing app. It's everything that Spotlight should be and isn't. You have no idea how many hidden folders I found in a blink of an eye, even tho Finder & Spotlight showed none.
If your going to try "Easy Find", just remember to check off a few things. See pic below.
Notice the "All Volumes" window with the drop down arrow, located in the upper right, under the magnifying glass. I'm just experimenting with this app., and I think that "All Volumes" covers everything. Once things are found, you just click on a line & then click "Reveal in Finder". Wow, so easy.
Next, if you don't want to play around & just want to delete everything, just click the red circle "Delete" and your done. It will only remove what it is showing
in the list. If you chose to only search Hard Drive or Home File, then that is only where it will delete from. That's why I am using "All Volumes".
Oh, and check out the Settings button too.

What's This Help not working for one entry in each header file
I have a large RoboHelp project that I have imported into Version 8 from a previous version. Prior to the import into Version 8, all of the What's This Help in the project was working perfectly; now, post-import, I have a problem.
Firstly, some background information.
My project contains a large number of individual header (.H) files, one for each dialog within the software. These header files, which have been generated and provided by our developers, contain one entry for each field on the dialog to which the header file relates. The header files are all contained within a \HTML Topics\Fields\ folder (going from the root of my Help project).
Each header file has a corresponding text (.TXT) file. These text files contain entries that correspond to the entries in the relevant header file. The text files are also contained within the \HTML Topics\Fields\ folder.
Below is an example of the contents of a header file:

The What's This Help that was part of the original project still works perfectly. However, after upgrading the project to RoboHelp Version 8, I have had to update the project to reflect changes to the software. The What's This Help that is covered by the header files that I have imported since the upgrade to RoboHelp Version 8 does not work correctly; in each case, the What's This Help does not work for whichever field appears at the top of the appropriate text file. The position of the entry in the corresponding header file does not make a difference.
If I manually edit a text file to move a different entry to the top then recompile the Help project, the What's This Help does not work for the field that now appears at the top of the text file - and the What's This Help for the field that used to appear at the top of the text file now works.
I've tried everything I can think of to fix this, but nothing has worked. It seems as if there is a problem in the way RoboHelp is compiling the header and text files.
If I use Microsoft HTML Help Workshop to decompile the CHM file, then view the contents of the resulting, decompiled text files, the affected files appear as follows:

Note how the entry at the top - which relates to the What's This Help that doesn't work - appears differently to the other entries which do work. The name of the ID appears after ".topic" rather than the appropriate ID number.
Any help that anyone can provide me with would be very much appreciated.

MarkIts working now. We just kept trying to reinstall the tools and restarting indesign. On the 4th time the buttons started working. I can't explain why it finally worked, just that it is working now.
