HOST Failed errors with multi-core processing in Compressor

I used Digital Rebellion's Pref Mgr to trash all prefs; then Compressor Repair to fix them.  Rebooted.  Stopped Qmaster.  Reset services.  Established 5 instances ( I have 8 core Xeon 2.8ghz Mac Pro ).  Restarted Qmaster sharing.  Opened FCP file, sent to Compressor.  Selected DVD settings.  Chose cluster I set up in Qmaster.  Submitted. Instant "HOST Failed" error messages on the five instances that appeared in Batch Monitor.
Help.  Tired.  Frustrated.  ******.

If you really are running 10.6.2, I'd start by running all software updates.
See what happens if you export a 5 minute section of your movie, export that as a master file and bring that movie into a new Compressor job,
Post a screen shot of the Computer Sharing settings window to see whether anyone can spot something amiss.

  • Hung Threads with multi thread processing

    We use TopLink v10.1.3.5
    One of our applications uses multi-core processing and when multiple threads try to access lazily loaded 1-m relationships at the same time, the threads just hang forever. There are no errors but the thread dump says it’s waiting on a condition.
    We do not use cache Synchronization.
    The 1-m relationship is privately owned, uses Batch reading and Indirection.
    The problem occurs intermittently and we cannot reproduce it at will.
    Found this discussion, but since we are on 10.3.5, I think we should already have the patch?
    Hung Threads (Toplink 10.1.3)
    Can anyone please provide any help on this.
    Thanks for the help.

    All I can tell from the stack shown is that you are triggering indirection on a collection to an object that has an eagerly fetched 1:1 mapping to an object that is locked in the cache.  The thread is waiting on the lock owner to finish building the object before it can be returned.
    To tell what is going wrong, you will need to look at the complete thread dump to see what other threads might be building the object with its cache key locked.  For instance, a long running query might make it appear the system is hung when it is just a bottleneck in the application.  If you can, you should also try to call session.getIdentityMapAccessor().printIdentityMapLocks(); at the time of the problem as it will print off information on the locks such as the object involved and which threads hold them.  As for patches; 10.1.3 is an older stream but I am unaware of fixes that are not included in 10.1.3.5 that might resolve this - you should go through support to be sure.

  • Airport Utility `install failed' error with both 6.0 and 6.1

    Hi folks
    I am running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53) and cannot get the Airport Utility to run at all. [5.5.3] The application icon flickers as though it is about to launch and then nothing happens.
    I have tried other 5.x downloads and they all fail because I am running OS X Lion 10.7.4.
    Doing a standard Software Update or using a download of 6.x from the Apple Support site, the installer comes up with an `install failed' error with both 6.0 and 6.1, having gotten through the complete process and looking like they were `successful'.
    It's the only time in two years and many updates later that i have come across this issue, so I am unsure how to start to tackle it.
    Any ideas or suggestions please?
    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to Apple Communities
    Backup your files and try this:
    1. Reboot from recovery partition (or as in my case USB recovery drive)
    2. Select Re-install Mac OS X
    3. Allow the process to run through multiple restarts
    4. When reinstall process is complete run software update (side note, my software update would not launch as long as my USB recovery stick was plugged in, weird)
    5. Run all updates saving the Airport Utility 6.0 until last.
    6. Install the airport utility from software update.

  • CF11 is crashing ( application pool suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service)

    I have a cluster of 2 IIS web servers on Windows Server 2008 R2. They had been running on CF10 for over a year (if not two) with no problems. I upgraded one server to CF11 and now that server is crashing while the CF10 servers is still running fine.
    In the Windows event log I'm seeing 4 instances of this error:
    "A process serving application pool '******' suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service. The process id was '4652'. The data field contains the error number."
    Then finally:
    "Application pool '******' is being automatically disabled due to a series of failures in the process(es) serving that application pool.".
    Looking at the application pool in the IIS admin it is stopped. Restarting will resolve but it will eventually crash.
    What could be the issue?
    -Phil

    I'm seeing in the CF logs leading up to the crash:

  • Premier Pro Queue - Multi-Core Processing

    I am sure you all have thought about this but it would be nice if you take advantage of the multi-core processing of the Mac in order to run more than one Queue item at the same time.
    Currently, each item in the queue has to wait but since we got multi-core systems like my Mac Pro with Dual Quad Core it would be nice to be encoding multiple projects at the same time.  Or is this because it's software encoding and not hardware restriction?
    I did notice in Preferences there is a Enable Parallel Encoding.  Is this not multi-core processing?
    Thanks,
    Kenneth

    Think of it this way: Intel has already announced that they are sunsetting the C2D line of processors, so purchasing something that is about ready to get phased out doesn't make much sense to me as it will quickly become outdated (some could argue that it already is outdated with the number of quadcore and higher procs coming out).
    If anything, purchase one of the quad-core models to get more out of it down the line. More and more software is becoming multi-core aware, so even while an app you use now doesn't support it, it may eventually.

  • Sharepoint application pool suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service

  • "Load report failed" error with VS 2010 upgrade

    I have a report system that has been running nicely for a few years. Today, I upgraded it to use the latest Crystal from Visual Studio 2010. I installed the .net framework 4.0, installed the Crystal runtime (64 bit), and updated the web site with slightly revised code to use the new stuff. Now, reports that worked yesterday fail with the 'load report failed' error. A little research shows that the file name passed to the report engine is correct (and is the same as it has always been). I see that rpt files are being created in windows\temp each time a report is requested, so it seems that the report file is being found.
    The code change I made was to use the new ExportToHttpResponse method.
    When deployed in development and test environments (both 32 bit). this worked perfectly. In production, however, no such luck. I wonder if I have missed a setting somewhere, or if there is something extra to do on a 64 bit server?
    Does anyone have a clue for me?
    More info - I found the following error in the event log:
    The keycode assembly, BusinessObjects.Licensing.KeycodeDecoder.dll, cannot be loaded.
    ... which I thought was interesting until I noticed the same error occurs on my dev machine, where the reports are working.
    I also used process monitor to check the dlls loaded on the production box, and they all seem to be the latest version. I tried using the 'modules' utility on my production box, but it did not pick up the Crystal stuff (or any of my web stuff - I wonder if it is a 32-bit only tool?).
    Edited by: Ray Novak on Dec 29, 2010 5:12 PM

    I just tried this again with the same result. I uninstalled the previous Crystal, deleted all the old folders and reg keys I could find, then installed the new 64 bit redist package. I asigned permissions to the SAP reg key tree. I ended up with the same result: "Invalid file name". There were new files created in the temp folder for each report request, so I can tell that my.rpt files are being found.
    I used process monitor to see what was happening, and here are the results that seem interesting:
    RegOpenKey     HKU\.DEFAULT\Software\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0     NAME NOT FOUND
    RegOpenKey     HKU\.DEFAULT\Software\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0     NAME NOT FOUND
    IRP_MJ_CREATE     C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\secSSO.dll.2.Config     NAME NOT FOUND
    FASTIO_NETWORK_QUERY_OPEN     C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\SmAgentAPI.dll     NAME NOT FOUND
    Since it seemed to be trying to create files in the \win64_x64 folder, I allowed the process full access, but it didn't help. It was also looking for SmAgentAPI.dll which does not seem to exist on my system.

  • "Connection failed" error with time capsule

    I can't access my time capsule. I get a "connection failed" error.  And yet, the WiFi still works.  I've tried resetting and unplugging and re-plugging.

    I've returned home after some time away, and it's back to the Time Capsule problem!
    The Time Capsule Status icon (the clock symbol in the menu bar) was grey - I went into Time Capsule Preferences, chose 'Select Disk' and selected 'Data' as the back-up location (the name of the Time Capsule folder). I then chose 'Backup Now' and the status icon turned black & began turning - with message 'Making Backup disk Available'. A couple of times, nothing happened beyond this - and I received an error message.
    However after restarting my laptop (note I have shut down and restarted a number of times anyway since end November) the 'Making backup disk available' message was quickly followed by 'Calculating Changes...'. Out of interest, Time Machine Prefernces says that Oldest Backup is "--" and Latest Backup is "--". After 5 minutes, the status changed to 'Calculating Changes... (1%)' and at this point I was able to open Time Machine, and move back to previous backups (most recent being 27 November). It went on to showthat it was backing up 24.5 GB, and began this process. Then the status icon switched to a black circle with warning triangle and Time Capsule Preferences now reads;
    Oldest Backup: 27 November 2009
    Latest Backup: Failed
    The error message (in the icon) is:
    Make sure your computer and the backup disk are on the same network, and that the backup disk is turned on. Then try again to back up.
    Latest successful backup: 27/11/2009 at 22:17
    Help appreciated!

  • "Connection to server failed" error with Gmail exchange server

    Hi,
    I upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 4.3 on Friday and now I can't access my Gmail account using the Microsoft Exchange settings, I just get a "Connection to server failed" error.
    I also have a Google Apps email account for my website and I am able to access it using exchange... it's just my regular Gmail account that I can't access (and that's where all my contacts are stored).
    I can access the account using the regular Gmail email settings but that doesn't sync my contacts over the air, which is the advantage of using Exchange that I love the most.
    I don't know if it is related or not, but I had a really hard time upgrading to iOS 4.3. I guess the update file was corrupt and it put my phone into restore mode. I had to use a different computer for the upgrade to finally work. Because I was using a different computer I had to restore it as a new phone rather than restoring from a backup, so maybe that has something to do with my email problem.
    Message was edited by: KJones75

    I seem to have solved the problem. I deleted my Gmail account from the phone and then changed my Gmail password from my computer, and then tried adding the account to my phone again... and surprise, surprise, it worked.
    I'm not sure why changing the password fixed the problem, but I'm glad it's working again.

  • Critical Error with Bank Information Process (Personal Information Area)

    I am experiencing a critical error when I open the Bank Information details in the portal.
    A critical error has occured. Processing of the service had to be terminated. Unsaved data has been lost.

    I have read the following threads Error in the Bank Details in the Personal information and Error in Change own data but none have assisted us with our problem.
    We have also looked at SAP Note 1018036 but this only applies to HP14 and we are currently on HP26 (ECC6.0).
    Everyone's help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Resolved, but can't remember how - need to close thread to raise new issues.

  • I get a "Secure Connection Failed" error with google stating "certificate contains the same serial number"

    When I click on a link for a google search, I get the "Secure Connection Failed" error in Firefox. It states, "Please contact the server administrator or email correspondent and give them the following information: Your certificate contains the same serial number as another certificate issued by the certificate authority."
    I have followed the instructions here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Certificate%20contains%20the%20same%20serial%20number%20as%20another%20certificate
    and looked at this article:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1028103?esab=a&as=aaq
    I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, deleted the entire profiles folder, and reset Firefox. I see that the older (orphaned) article points to my router. However, I have a new router and have updated its software. There is no button to add an exception (as noted in the article), so I can't just bypass it. This problem does not occur with IE, so I have a hard time believing it is my router.
    How do I troubleshoot this issue? I really don't want to change browsers.

    Here is a screen shot of the error.

  • Multi core processing??

    Hi, I've heard that multi core processors such as those in the new iMac and in the Mac Pro are only any good if the software knows how to use them properly. I am wanting to use Apples Logic Studio software, would I be better off with say a 3.06G core 2 duo, or a 2.66G i5?? For Logic only, I couldnt care about games or anything else.

    Think of it this way: Intel has already announced that they are sunsetting the C2D line of processors, so purchasing something that is about ready to get phased out doesn't make much sense to me as it will quickly become outdated (some could argue that it already is outdated with the number of quadcore and higher procs coming out).

  • Assertion failed error with bonjour

    I am getting and assertion failed error. Here is the actual message
    microsoft visual c++ Runtime Library
    Assertion failed!
    Program:...
    File:.|mybonjour.cpp
    line:286
    Expression:lerr==knsserviceerrno error
    Does anyone no what this is? Ever since I started getting this error my printer has gone caputs. I have to keep reinstalling the driver. Ans it is getting worse. Please help!

    I too am having this problem. I get the same error about 1 week now. Ever since none of our computers can print to our network printer. The network printer is a Lanier 5515 (commercial printer). We have never had problems in over 5 years. As of now it has our business at a stand still; we cannot print anything. I prints random strings of characters.
    Called Apple and there suggestion was to uninstall all their products (itunes, quicktime, apple updater, and mobile device support) which I did and on restart I still get the same error screen. And still cannot print. Seems something in Bonjour has permanently been placed on my system.
    Apple or someone please help!!.
    Thanks,

  • SQLCMD throwing error with multi-line queries

    I get the error "Unclosed quotation mark after the character string..." when I pass multi-line queries to SQLCMD via a SQL Agent Job.  For example, the following command fails:
    SQLCMD -E -S MyServerName -Q "PRINT 'Hello';
    PRINT 'World';" -b
    SQLCMD seems to be only processing the first line, ignoring that there is more to the query.  The actual error in this case is:
    Msg 105, Level 15, State 1, Server MyServerName, Line 1
    Unclosed quotation mark after the character string 'PRINT 'Hello';\n '.
    Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Server MyServerName, Line 1
    Incorrect syntax near 'PRINT 'HELLO';\n'.
    Where "\n" is actually an unprintable character for the line terminator.
    What am I doing something wrong for passing multi-line statements to SQLCMD?

    Hi Brandon,
    You can use sqlcmd to run a Transact-SQL script file. A Transact-SQL script file is a text file that can contain a combination of Transact-SQL statements, sqlcmd commands, and scripting variables.
    To create a simple Transact-SQL script file by using Notepad and save the file as myScript.sql in the C drive.
    To run the script file
    1. Open a command prompt window.
    2. In the Command Prompt window, type: sqlcmd -S myServer\instanceName -i C:\myScript.sql
    3. Press ENTER.

  • How to fix AppleEvent handler failed error with command "make new mailbox with properties"

    Below is the script I am running to create a hiearchy of new mailboxes inside "ON MY MAC" folder area.
    tell application "Mail"
      make new mailbox with properties {name:"ABar"}
      make new mailbox with properties {name:"ABar/Foo"}
      make new mailbox with properties {name:"ABar/Foo/Me"}
    end tell
    When I execute this the first mailbox is excuted fine but right afterwards I get the following error:
    error "Mail got an error: AppleEvent handler failed." number -10000
    I have tried adding delays but this does not work either. Code:
    tell application "Mail"
      make new mailbox with properties {name:"ABar"}
      delay 0.2
      make new mailbox with properties {name:"ABar/Foo"}
              delay 0.2
      make new mailbox with properties {name:"ABar/Foo/Me"}
    end tell
    However rerunning the script and skipping over the make command if the folder already exit, causes the next exuction time to create one more folder.
    Code:
    tell application "Mail"
              if (mailbox "ABar" exists) = false then
      make new mailbox with properties {name:"ABar"}
                        delay 0.2
              end if
              if (mailbox "ABar/Foo" exists) = false then
      make new mailbox with properties {name:"ABar/Foo"}
                        delay 0.2
              end if
              if (mailbox "ABar/Foo/Me" exists) = false then
      make new mailbox with properties {name:"ABar/Foo/Me"}
                        delay 0.2
              end if
    end tell
    ** Anyone know how to solve this or why this is happening? **
    It almost feels as if the hiearcgy is read into memory and this is not updated after the creation of the new mailbox.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    The processors are different archiectures and you can not use binaries from one architecture to work on the other.
    Library name suffix differences is an example of the importance of this. Tuxedo 6.5 was separately built for each of those architectures and
    is available on the PeopleSoft distribution as distinct binaries. If your migration was purely from HPUX11.11 to HPUX11.23 you might have
    succeeded but the processor difference will not work for you and a core dump would not be unexpected.
    Bob Finan
    FYI:
    Tuxedo 6.5 is end-of-lifed and, since it's EOL has passed the stage for extended support possibility, no new patches will
    be created for it by engineering. You should look to migrate to a newer version of Tuxedo/Peoplesoft at the earliest
    possiblity.
