Host to not .mac

so i have created my website completely, checked that it works on a .mac trial and now i wanna get it online to a different host, so i can have my own domain name. i know i have to hit "publish to folder" (i wanna publish to strato "strato.de"(its german)) but how do i get it online from that point. for your info i have cyber duck and dreamweaver - but cannot use them. so what i am asking for is a step by step description of how i get it only without doing this html editing and stuff (i am a noob, as in my name).
thnx already

MacPro,
Sorry to take so long to respond.
You will set up your site definitions in Dreamweaver and then your published files from iWeb will be put up for you by the ftp client in the application. Once that is done, from there on out you will publish your work in iWeb to a folder and then take your changes and upload only those as you work on your site. It's very straightforward once it is set up and you will like it. You can also edit your html files in Dreamweaver as well with a great deal of ease.
I actually have a page in iWeb that I edit for one of my sites, that has it's own specific Domain file. It's a very speedy process to open this 'site', edit this page, publish it and then just swap out the folders in the DW folder structure. You can set up DW to automatically update any changes to your site as soon as the folders are changed. It's a great combo when you consider the speed of creativity in iWeb, and then maximize it with the ability to edit and upload with DW. And of course, along the way you will learn how to use DW to create.

  • Iweb site for use with my own hosting company, not .mac

    Hello,
What I would like to do is setup a photo album site in iweb but export it to ftp to my own hosting company.
I noticed on a link found here that if you do so you lose the ability to have a slideshow......will this effect the ability for a person to click on a picture to advance to the next picture?
I have tried phpalbum and looked at gallery program but I dont know scripting or programming so I am lost there.....iweb photo album page seems the best way to go.
    Any advice would be helpful!!!
    Thanks
    PB

    Hi PB,
That's not true. It maybe was using iWeb '06 but not iWeb '08. Just create your photopage, go to file=>publish to a folder, upload the resulting files to your server using your FTP application and you're done.
Everything works: slideshow, pictures overview, single picture.
I'm uploading my site to non .mac, have a look at this photo page:
    http://alyeska.altervista.org/photos/Ontheroad/Pages/Iceland.html
An alternative would be using SimpleViewer which is really easy to use too, have a look at point 3 for examples

  • IOS Remote Desktop App resolves hostname but throws Host is not reachable error.

    Hello,
I am trying to use the Remote Desktop app on my iPad running iOS 7.0.2 to connect to a server through our Juniper VPN. When I type the hostname or IP address I get an error that say "Host is not reachable". If I connect through my Mac I have no

    Hi,
According to the log, your iPad tried to connect the remote server with IP address 10.100.01.01/32. Please check if it is the correct IP address of the server.
Also, please make sure that your iPad can connect to your VPN network successfully and get a valid IP address so that it can remote your internal server.
    Thanks.

  • Where I can find an aequivalent to the windows hosts file in mac??

    Hello,
I have the following problem: After switching from windows to Mac I try to set up lotus notes on my Mac. In Windows it was necessary to ad an IP adress in the hosts file which you can find under windows/system32/drivers/etc/ Now I have the problem to find this “host’s list” in my Mac, but it seems that without this IP an in a “host list” notes can not synchronise the database with the server. Does anybody have an idea where I can configure this in Mac?
    Thanks,
    Thomas

The hosts file is in /etc and is editable only by root (or an admin user with "sudo"). You can use Terminal to access it, or use the Go menu in Finder to Go to the /etc folder.
    Cheers,
    Rodney

  • Yosemite 10.10 problem - 10.9 drive not mac extended format ??

I am attempting to upgrade to 10.10 and the system is not allowing me to install on my 10.9 drive because it thinks the drive is either not mac extended formatted or journal not activated.  It will not install the update.  It requires a drive format or activate Journal.  I'm new to Apple and this does not compute!  The system says the 10.9 drive is formatted as mac os-extended (Journal).
    Thanks,

The other thing that the installer checks on before it install OS X is that the disk drive is formatted with GUID partition mapping.

    # The default settings comprise two types of parameters: System parameters,
    # which cannot be overridden in the URL, and User Parameters, which can.
    # Parameters which are not marked as System parameters are User parameters.
    # SYSTEM PARAMETERS
    # These have fixed names and give information required by the Forms

    # Some parameters specify file names: if the full path is not given,

    Dumb dumb dumb.
I was running this form out of Form Builder 10g. At some point I changed the Application Server URL (Edit => Preferences => Runtime menus) from:
    http://ssbuechl2.div16.ibm.com:8889/forms/frmservlet?config=ttmsmenu
    to:
    http://ssbuechl2.div16.ibm.com:8889/forms/frmservlet?
So my customized configuration with all the WebUtil references was not being referenced and I was getting the error.
    Dumb dumb dumb.

  • HOST command not working

Oracle AS Version 10.1.2.0.2, Oracle Forms Version 10.1.2.0.2, Windows XP.
I am using HOST command to read a files from the directory (on the server). But HOST does not working. When i click the button to read the file, it just hangs on and no error on the console.
Does host work on forms 10g?
actually i was using client_host of webutil and its working fine. But it pick the directory from the client. Whereas i need to pick it from the server where AS is. That why i went for HOST command.
    Any suggestion.

    Hi,
    Try this.
    1. Create a batch file (which would first set the required variables as when you do the "set".)
    2. Add the following to the batch file.
    C:\javasoft10g\jre\bin\javaw -classpath C:\javasoft10g\jre\lib\rt.jar;C:\javasoft10g\paths;;C:\javasoft10g\paths\dusjava.jar; %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7Save the batch file in some location (say c:\mybatchscript.bat).
    From forms, call it like
    host('cmd /c c:\mybatchscript.bat > c:\temp\testlog.log' );Now, does it work?

P.S : Looks to me like, you are setting some variables (or calling another batch file - set , which sets up the variables). So, make sure you set all the required variables in the batch script itself.

  • SAP Router - Host did not respond 8 times

    Guys,
I'm able to test OSS connection successfully in SM59. But in service connections, whenever i open connections, the connection failing to open with the "Host did not respond 8 times " error before changing to Cancel. Any suggestions please?

There was a little glitch in the saprouttab file, which i fixed. But interesting to note that it didn't clear the error. I keep having the same error, but SAP was able to connect inspite of that. As i read elsewhere, often times this error is misleading. anyway, thanks.

  • Why can you run windows on a mac, but not mac on windows

I dont understant why you can run windows on a mac, but not mac on windows.  Any help.  I would purchase OS X Mountain Lion if you gave me a way.

Microsoft builds software to run on other companies' hardware, pretty much exclusively if you don't count the long line of failed devices: Zune, Windows phone, and now the Surface.
Apple builds hardware. They support that hardware with their own operating system. It is designed to run only on their very tightly integrated hardware. Trying to write software for the plethora of crap being sold would be a failing proposition and would divert resources away from the great software they provide for their hardware customers.
The hardware and software are very well engineered to provide the best possible experience.
If you want to experience a Mac, buy a Mac.

  • Any advantage to having website hosted by a Mac OS X Server webhost?

With Leopard on it's way and the likes of iChat Server supporting relaying, is there any advantage to having our domain hosted with a Mac OS X Server webhost? For instance would we then be able to use iChat Server with our domain name?
I'm thinking about putting a little pressure on our webhost to provide Mac OS X services.

I'm no expert on web hosting (or anything else to do with web services but I would have thought that the only way to take advantage of all the Leopard stuff would be to lease a whole machine to yourself (or get them to host your own machine). I cannot see how a hosting company could use a single server for multiple customers, thereby reduce hosting cost per customer.

You need a PDF editor, at the high end use Adobe's Acrobat Professional, at the low end use the editing features in Preview (pre-loaded on your iMac). However you should probably look at the Mac App Store, you will find many of PDF editing applications. You simply need to find one that suits your needs.
