HostnameVerificationIgnored tag in config.xml
I have configured SSL for WLS 8.1 sp1. I have 2 questions regarding the HostNameVerification
setting..
Initially, I set the HostnameVerificationIgnored="FALSE" in the <SSL> tag of config.xml.
But the cmd window displayed the following message:
<Dec 16, 2003 7:16:41 PM PST> <Info> <Management> <BEA-141034> <Java system property:
weblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerify = false.>
This is expected. Now, changed HostnameVerificationIgnored="TRUE" in config.xml.
Even now, it shows the exact same message!!
<Dec 16, 2003 7:29:22 PM PST> <Info> <Management> <BEA-141034> <Java system property:
weblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerify = false.>
Other than the timestamp, nothing has changed. This tells me that it is not reading
the config.xml setting properly.
There is NO entry for -Dweblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerification in startweblogic.cmd
either. I am not sure where is it picking this property from. But the cmd window
always shows that it is false, regardless of my setting in config.xml.
1) How can we verify that this is actually working the expected way...?
2) Is there a bug in 8.1 - that it is failing to read the setting in config.xml
correctly?
Thanks,
Anant
Anant,
How about you try to get the SSL MBean and check the attribute?
Try using weblogic.Admin,
java weblogic.Admin -username xx -password xxxxxxxx -url
t3://localhost:7001 get -type SSL -property HostnameVerificationIgnored
and see if the variable is properly set and the server is running with
that attribute value.
Thanks,
-satya

EJBComponents not added to config.xml
We are in the process of upgrading our version of Weblogic Server from 6.1 to 8.1.
In 6.1 weblogic used to add all an EJBComponent tag into config.xml for each
ejb module in application.xml, but it no longer seems to do this in 8.1. From
the weblogic console I can all the ejbs are listed as modules, however they have
no target set. Do we have to manually add the EJBComponents to config.xml now?

You'll be able to test them without the container or Struts, and you'll be able to reuse those objects in other, non-Web contexts.

Reg customization tag in netuix-config.xml
In <netuix-config.xml> we can set the customisation tag to false. But when i set it so, build and create a desktop in admin consolde, when i view the desktop , page is not getting loaded. But am able to run it thru .portal file(file based).
But when i give customisation as true and localisation both with true and false is working fine(desktop page is coming).
Any idea what went wrong?
Thanks in advanceThat customization tag has to be set to true be able to be able to view a desktop created in the admin console (whether that desktop is customized or not).
Another way of looking at the tag is that it tells the framework whether to use the database or not. If the setting is false, then the database is not used, and the system will only process .portal/.book/.page/.portlet files on the file system. -
Config.xml Realm tag not in DTD?
The config.xml generated and maintained by the console app
contains a <Realm> tag, but this tag does not appear in the
DTD at http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs60/config_xml/config.html
This tag appears to be critical to the functioning
of my CustomRealm, but the console app generates it
incorrectly. It generated:
<Realm FileRealm="wl_default_file_realm" Name="wl_default_realm"/>
but my app will authenticate correctly only if this tag reads:
<Realm CachingRealm="CofinitiCachingRealm"
FileRealm="wl_default_file_realm" Name="wl_default_realm"/>
There doesn't seem to be any place to set this attribute
in the console app.
Can someone please correct the DTD and documentation to explain
how this tag interoperates with all the other realm tags
(NTRealm, CachingRealm, CustomRealm, etc).
Thanks.By the first <Realm> node below it appears that your config was set to not
use a
caching realm. If you go into the console, and then click on the
"Security" node
itself in the left hand frame (not one of the realms below it, but the
actual Security
line/icon), the dialog on the right comes up with a select list to choose
which caching
realm you want. It's "(none)" by default, which would map to your first
<Realm...>
example below. If you select "CofinitiCachingRealm" in that select list
(assuming
it's already created) and then hit "Apply", then it should set the config
properties
as your second <Realm> tag shows below.

How to access Datasource tag info (struts-config.xml) in POJO
Hello friends,
I am doing a project in struts.I have stored the database connection information in data-source tag of struts-config.xml file.This is the code.
<data-sources>
<data-source>
<set-property property="autoCommit" value="false"/>
<set-property property="description" value="oracle Data Source"/>
<set-property property="driverClass" value="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"/>
<set-property property="maxCount" value="10"/>
<set-property property="minCount" value="2"/>
<set-property property="user" value="system"/>
<set-property property="password" value="manager"/>
<set-property property="url"
value="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:gd"/>
</data-source>
</data-sources>
Now I want to access this data in POJO.I know how to use it in action class but unable to use it in POJO.To access it in action class , the code goes like this....
ServletContext context=servlet.getServletContext();
DataSource datasource=(DataSource)context.getAttribute(Action.DATA_SOURCE_KEY);
Connection con=datasource.getConnection();
Can anyone tell me what to do?.Any help will be highly appreciated.Thank you in advance.You will need to use the JSR 88 API to access deployment descriptor configuration.

Forward tag in struts-config.xml file
Hi,
Well.. I am a newbie to Struts. Not exactly a newbie but have done little bit of work in it. I am stuck at a particular point. I am sure you can help me..
The <forward name=abc path=/abc.jsp /> in struts-config.xml is used for redirection. In the action class the abc is used in the findforward method. But this can be used only when you want to simply redirect a page to another. I want to do the same but I want to redirect the page using a query string.e.g http://servername:port/abc.do?val=123 something like that. How will I do this?

Compacting the cache-config.xml for multiple cache-store
Hi,
I have a cache-config.xml that has various ReadWriteBackingMaps with different CacheLoader implementations. I was wondering of the best way to compact this xml using the scheme-ref tag, as all I really need is schemes, with different cache stores. e.g. I have an InstrumentCacheStore and a CurrencyCacheStore .. which invoke different CacheLoaders. they are both distributed caches.
I thought the below would work, but it dosen't.. :( when loading a currency, the InstrumentCacheStore gets invoked.
is there a way to compact this XML? Else, for 6 different cache loaders that I have, do I have to specify the whole distributed-scheme again and again?
<cache-config>
<caching-scheme-mapping>
<cache-mapping>
<cache-name>instrument-*</cache-name>
<scheme-name>distributed-instrument-scheme</scheme-name>
</cache-mapping>
<cache-mapping>
<cache-name>currency-*</cache-name>
<scheme-name>distributed-currency-scheme</scheme-name>
</cache-mapping>
</caching-scheme-mapping>
<caching-schemes>
<distributed-scheme>
<scheme-name>distributed-instrument-scheme</scheme-name>
<scheme-ref>distributed-scheme</scheme-ref>
</distributed-scheme>
<distributed-scheme>
<scheme-name>distributed-currency-scheme</scheme-name>
<scheme-ref>distributed-scheme</scheme-ref>
<!-- THIS DOES NOT OVERRIDE THE DEFAULT distributed-scheme? -->
<cachestore-scheme>
<class-scheme>
<class-name>coherence.cachestore.CurrencyCacheStore</class-name>
</class-scheme>
</cachestore-scheme>
</distributed-scheme>
<distributed-scheme>
<scheme-name>distributed-scheme</scheme-name>
<service-name>DistributedCache</service-name>
<backing-map-scheme>
<read-write-backing-map-scheme>
<internal-cache-scheme>
<local-scheme>
<scheme-ref>LocalSizeLimited</scheme-ref>
</local-scheme>
</internal-cache-scheme>
<cachestore-scheme>
<class-scheme>
<class-name>coherence.cachestore.InstrumentCacheStore</class-name>
</class-scheme>
</cachestore-scheme>
</read-write-backing-map-scheme>
</backing-map-scheme>
<serializer>
<class-name>com.tangosol.io.pof.ConfigurablePofContext</class-name>
</serializer>
<partition-count>5557</partition-count>
<backup-count>1</backup-count>
<thread-count>10</thread-count>
<autostart>true</autostart>
</distributed-scheme>
<local-scheme>
<scheme-name>LocalSizeLimited</scheme-name>
<high-units>500000000</high-units>
<low-units>10000</low-units>
<unit-calculator>BINARY</unit-calculator>
</local-scheme>
</caching-schemes>
</cache-config>
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------There are two possible ways to sort this out
1. The cache configuration for the distributed-currency-scheme shown in the original post is wrong and does not correctly override the cache store, it should look like this:.
<distributed-scheme>
<scheme-name>distributed-currency-scheme</scheme-name>
<scheme-ref>distributed-scheme</scheme-ref>
<backing-map-scheme>
<read-write-backing-map-scheme>
<internal-cache-scheme>
<local-scheme>
<scheme-ref>LocalSizeLimited</scheme-ref>
</local-scheme>
</internal-cache-scheme>
<cachestore-scheme>
<class-scheme>
<class-name>coherence.examples.CurrencyCacheStore</class-name>
</class-scheme>
</cachestore-scheme>
</read-write-backing-map-scheme>
</backing-map-scheme>
</distributed-scheme> 2. You can use a single scheme and parameterise it like this:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE cache-config SYSTEM "cache-config.dtd">
<cache-config>
<caching-scheme-mapping>
<cache-mapping>
<cache-name>instrument-*</cache-name>
<scheme-name>distributed-scheme</scheme-name>
<init-params>
<init-param>
<param-name>cache-store-class-name</param-name>
<param-value>coherence.examples.InstrumentCacheStore</param-value>
</init-param>
</init-params>
</cache-mapping>
<cache-mapping>
<cache-name>currency-*</cache-name>
<scheme-name>distributed-scheme</scheme-name>
<init-params>
<init-param>
<param-name>cache-store-class-name</param-name>
<param-value>coherence.examples.CurrencyCacheStore</param-value>
</init-param>
</init-params>
</cache-mapping>
</caching-scheme-mapping>
<caching-schemes>
<distributed-scheme>
<scheme-name>distributed-scheme</scheme-name>
<service-name>DistributedCache</service-name>
<backing-map-scheme>
<read-write-backing-map-scheme>
<internal-cache-scheme>
<local-scheme>
<scheme-ref>LocalSizeLimited</scheme-ref>
</local-scheme>
</internal-cache-scheme>
<cachestore-scheme>
<class-scheme>
<class-name>{cache-store-class-name}</class-name>
</class-scheme>
</cachestore-scheme>
</read-write-backing-map-scheme>
</backing-map-scheme>
<serializer>
<class-name>com.tangosol.io.pof.ConfigurablePofContext</class-name>
</serializer>
<partition-count>5557</partition-count>
<backup-count>1</backup-count>
<thread-count>10</thread-count>
<autostart>true</autostart>
</distributed-scheme>
<local-scheme>
<scheme-name>LocalSizeLimited</scheme-name>
<high-units>500000000</high-units>
<low-units>10000</low-units>
<unit-calculator>BINARY</unit-calculator>
</local-scheme>
</caching-schemes>
</cache-config>Parameter names from the init-params part of each cache mapping can be used inside curly brackets in the cache scheme part.
Hope that helps,

How to specify multiple message bundles in faces-config.xml
Hi
I have different properties file which I want to use as message bundle.
Message.properties
Help.properties
When I specify this in faces-config.xml
<application>
<message-bundle>/Message</message-bundle>
<message-bundle>/Help</message-bundle>
</application>
and now when I try to use that in my jsp page like this
<f:loadBundle basename="/Message" var="message"/>
<f:loadBundle basename="/Help" var="help"/>
and access any messagestring from those files I can not excess either of them. But when I use only one of them it works fine.
Am I doing something wrong or I can not do this thing at all??
Thanks in advance.I only specify one properties file in the <application> tag. That one is used for system messages. I have other properties files for labels, and another for just standard app text, so in my faces-config.xml I have something like this:
<application>
<message-bundle>message</message-bundle>
<locale-config>
<default-locale>en</default-locale>
</locale-config>
</application>
where my message.properties is used for system messages (validation, etc).
I don't list the other property files there. I have two more that I use, labels_en.properties, and standard_en.properties. Labels are words that have a : at the end or a *: for required fields. Standard are just other words that I use in my application. So on every page that I have, I start out with the following header:
<html>
<f:view locale="en_US">
<head>
<f:loadBundle basename="label" var="label"/>
<f:loadBundle basename="standard" var="standard"/>

I have many custom validators and do not need to see the default values as listed in the below screen shot:
http://i.imgur.com/xOQgxeZ.png
Is it possible to only show the custom validators I define within faces-config.xml?
Thanks,
WesDeepak,
don't understand this sentence:
"Do not specify the binding attribute value in the f:validator tag for the bindings not to display."
Wes,
The answer to the question seems to be "no" you cannot suppress the other validator entries as they too are configured in a faces config file - though not the one in the application
Frank -
I'm using the same code base to compile different versions of a project. Each project has different base fonts. I've created multiple css files that use the same style names. The idea being that in the code I reference the style names, then the loaded CSS determines which font (and size, color, etc) is used for each style name.
The CSS files are compiling to SWFs, and those SWFs are referenced in config.xml files. Before compiling, I select the config file to use.
I am loading the CSS SWF files via the StyleManager in the Application.mxml, like so:
styleManager.loadStyleDeclarations( _contentData.elements( 'cssPath' ).@path )
The path traces out correctly as:
assets_embed/styles/project2.swf
For some reasone I must include an fx:Style line in the Application.mxml file or no fonts are recognized. Example:
<fx:Style source="assets_embed/styles/project1.css"/>
If I reference the css for project one (as done above) then most, but not all, styles work. Some styles reference the fonts from the project 1 css, others properly use fonts from project 2 swf. If I point to the CSS for the project I'm compiling in the <fx:Style > tag then all fonts work, but that defeats the goal of using XML rather than code to identify the styles.
So, why do I need the fx:Style line if the css is being loaded via StyleManager?
Why is there "cross talk" between style definitions?
Is there a better way to select styles at compile time?I read this quickly so I might have missed a detail. I think your describing an issue with recent Flex releases that is described in the fine print somewhere. If you don't have any fonts embedded in the main app and are only bringing in fonts embedded in CSS SWFs, you have to force-link the EmbeddedFontRegistry by adding something like this to the main app's script block.
import mx.core.EmbeddedFontRegistry; EmbeddedFontRegistry;
(Yes, "EmbeddedFontRegistry" is in there twice, once to define the fully qualified name, the other to create a class dependency to force the linking). -

<data-sources>
<data-source type = "org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource" key = "DBA">
</data-source>
<data-sources>
<data-source type = "org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource" key = "AISDEV">
</data-source>
</data-sources>
u just configure ur struts-config.xml file in the above manner and use the following steps in ur action servlet to retrive the DataSource object
getDatasource(request,"DBA") for accessing first datasource
getDatasource(request,"AISDEV") for accessing second datasource.

The Managed Bean in the faces-config.xml File
I am still very new to JSF. I am confused about the managed bean.
For example, I have a button in my web page. A click on this button invokes an action; say, ListAction.java.
In this ListAction class, I instantiate a business delegate; say, ListPersonnel.java and call a method in this business delegate to return an ArrayList: personnel. Of course, this business delegate goes through facade, DAO, etc. to populate the ArrayList. This ArrayList is a collecation of a JavaBean called PersonnelBean that gets and sets a number of personnel information; such as ssn, name, etc.
Upon this ArrayList is successfully populated and received by the ListAction class, I am going to display a web page with a table. In JSF, it is <h:dataTable ...>.
My questions are regarding the managed bean in the faces-config.xml file.
1. Which one is my <managed-bean-class>? packageName.ListAction? or packageName.PersonnelBean? or something else?
2. What should be my <managed-bean-name>? I guess that I can give a name I like. Is it right? What about xyz?
3. Then, how do I specify the "value" attribute of my <h:dataTable ...> tag when I display a web page to show the data table? Is it correct to specify value="#{xyz.personnel}"? What is the correct specification if it is wrong?
4. I guess that I can give any name to the "var" attribute in the <h:dataTable ...> tag. Is it right?1. Which one is my <managed-bean-class>?
packageName.ListAction? or
packageName.PersonnelBean? or something else?ListAction
2. What should be my <managed-bean-name>? I guess
that I can give a name I like. Is it right? What
about xyz?Anything you like. xyz is OK.
3. Then, how do I specify the "value" attribute of my
<h:dataTable ...> tag when I display a web page to
show the data table? Is it correct to specify
value="#{xyz.personnel}"? What is the correct
specification if it is wrong?xyz.personnel is OK assuming that ListAction class has a public
method getPersonnel() which returns the ArrayList of PersonnellBeans.
4. I guess that I can give any name to the "var"
attribute in the <h:dataTable ...> tag. Is it right?Yes, you can give any name you like.
