HOT backup done but archives deleted after end backup, so need backup from

Hello Team,
I did HOT CLONE upto sequence :-
alter database begin backup; and golbal change#=12564
alter database end backup ; and sequence#=12675
Now the problem is my archives are deleted between 12564 and 12675,
I want to take backup for the sequences deleted from production, How can i do??

No, It's not possible.
Datafiles contains the data being thrown into the database from its inception (first use of the Database itself). That too, the data is scattered inside the datafiles, so you couldn't guess that based upon time when they're filled up i.e. it's not like one data file will be used first and other one next...based upon the factors like how your tablespaces are defined etc...Data will be scattered.
As someone answered, try to copy archives from production (OS level copy) and recover the Database here.

Photos don't get deleted after iphoto import, help

I posted this in the iphoto forums but got not answers....
photos remain on my iphone after have imported them into iphoto and selected 'delete originals' after import
anyone know a fix?

Here is my setup and my steps.
I am running iTunes v9.0.1 and iPhoto '09 v8.1 and Mac OS X 10.6.1 and a first generation iPhone.
STEPS I TOOK
1. I plug in my iPhone and iPhoto Launches (as expected)
2. I see my iPhone in iPhoto under devices and it's selected
3. I click on Import All…
3a If I tick "Hide photos already imported" on, iPhoto does understand that the Photos have already been imported.
4. I click on the Import All button and tick "Apply to all duplicates" and choose Don't Import so that I don't end up with duplicates
5. After all my photos have been imported a window comes up with the message, "Delete Photos on Your Camera?" — I click on Delete Photos
6. The photos remain on my iPhone. (Arghh!)
I have tried to tell iTunes to "Sync photos from" and chose a small album in the hopes that this would trigger something but it only adds the small album and keeps the photos that are still on my phone that I wish to remove.
Has anyone found any further information on this issue?
I tried some other things.
-I started up iPhoto while holding down the alt key and created a new Library to isolate my library
-I created a new library
-I chose to import
-When prompted I chose to delete the photos from my iPhone
THIS WORKED! (finally)
OK, something interesting happened this time. On my iPhone, my Photo Album contains a Camera Roll (1) (in brackets there is a one, indicating one photo and next to 'Camera Roll' there is a preview of the last photo I took with the camera. It is not literally the last photo I took with the camera, in fact it is the last photo I took before updating my iPhone - I have updated my iphone twice since that photo was taken. Anyway I click on that photo and I get a blank library on my iphone. Not sure if the preview thumbnail should be there but now my iPhone is blank.
Next I quit iPhoto.
I relaunched iPhoto (with alt being held down so I can choose my main library - just to be sure of things)
Now that I have all the photos off my iPhone I am happy but this deserves more testing just to be sure this isn't a sticky issue.
Does anyone else have any other ideas on this issue?
PS I had already tried a restore and restarted my iPhone to no avail.

Has anyone else had iCloud notes automatically deleted after ending a skype call?

I was making notes during a Skype call and when I ended the call the note was gone.
This has happened twice now, the first time I presumed it was my mistake. When it happened again in exactly the same conditions I knew it wasn't my doing.
has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know if the notes are recoverable?

Recovery from hot backup

I have a problem with recovery hot backup from production database to test database and open it to use.
I have 'hot backup' without temporary tablespace and roll tablespace, I cant shut down production database (24x7), please give me a regulations how to recover database from hot backup, without online redo logs, temp tablespace, roll tablespace only with archive logs, and.....after this ..rename database sid.
Every time when I recovered database, it's still want to recover...and recover from archive logs and I cant open it, it's still inconsistent.Please send me an answer for [email protected]

Do you have all the archivelogs after the hot backup? Is the backup a valid backup? Is it a RMAN backup or normal file system backup of the datafiles?

How to restore RMAN hot backup to another database on another server?

I want to know how to restore RMAN hot backup from production server to another database on a testing server.
The hot backup is from a database named PROD on the production server
The database to be restored with the hot backup is TEST on the testing server. There is already a PROD database on the testing server and this PROD database must be kept.
I have read some threads about changing initTEST.ora to PROD to restore such backup but (I think) will not work in my case since I already have a PROD database on the testing server.
The version is 11gR2 on Linux but the compatible parameter is set to 10.2.0.1.0.

RMAN hot backup cloning problem..need a way out

I took hot backup from server A using RMAN
I prepared server A by running preclone on apps and db tier
I copied apps tier and dbTier(tech_st) from server A to server B..Apps and db tier were up and running during the copy.I also copied the RMAN backup sets
now on server B, what should i do..RMAN backup is in backup sets and i need to restore it on server B(Target server)
I am following note 406982.1 for cloning steps..
in advanced clonign options, it doesnt specify to run adcfgclone on apps tier too
please guide
help appreciated

How to find out which archived logs needed to recover a hot backup?

I'm using Oracle 11gR2 (11.2.0.1.0).
I have backed up a database when it is online using the following backup script through RMAN

}The backup set contains the backup of datafiles and control file. I have copied all the backup pieces to another server where I will restore/recover the database but I don't know which archived logs are needed in order to restore/recover the database to a consistent state.
I have not deleted any archived log.
How can I find out which archived logs are needed to recover the hot backup to a consistent state? Can this be done by querying V$BACKUP_DATAFILE and V$ARCHIVED_LOG? If yes, which columns should I query?

A few ways :
1a. Get the timestamps when the BACKUP ... DATABASE began and ended.
1b. Review the alert.log of the database that was backed up.
1c. From the alert.log identify the first Archivelog that was generated after the begin of the BACKUP ... DATABASE and the first Archivelog that was generated after the end of the BACKUP .. DATABASE.
1d. These (from 1c) are the minimal Archivelogs that you need to RECOVER with. You can choose to apply additional Archivelogs that were generated at the source database to contininue to "roll-forward"
2a. Do a RESTORE DATABASE alone.
2b. Query V$DATAFILE on the restored database for the lowest CHECKPOINT_CHANGE# and CHECKPOINT_TIME. Also query for the highest CHECKPOINT_CHANGE# and CHECKPOINT_TIME.
2c. Go back to the source database and query V$ARCHIVED_LOG (FIRST_CHANGE#) to identify the first Archivelog that has a higher SCN (FIRST_CHANGE#) than the lowest CHECKPOINT_CHANGE# from 2b above. Also query for the first Archivelog that has a higher SCN (FIRST_CHANGE#) than the highest CHECKPOINT_CHANGE# from 2b above.
2d. These (from 2c) are the minimal Archivelogs that you need to RECOVER with.
(why do you need to query V$ARCHIVED_LOG at the source ? If RESTORE a controlfile backup that was generated after the first Archivelog switch after the end of the BACKUP ... DATABASE, you would be able to query V$ARCHIVED_LOG at the restored database as well. That is why it is important to force an archivelog (log switch) after a BACKUP ... DATABASE and then backup the controlfile after this -- i.e. last. That way, the controlfile that you have restored to the new server has all the information needed).
3. RESTORE DATABASE PREVIEW in RMAN if you have the archivelogs and subsequent controlfile in the backup itself !

Failure when trying to open db with resetlogs after restore of hot backup

i know that ora-600 errors should be directed to oracle instead of here, but as i have no access to oracle support you may be able / willing to give me some hint anyway. here is what i tried to do:
1. Make a Hot Backup of an Oracle DB running on Win2003, Version 9.2.0.5
2. Trying to restore this backup on a new host, running WinXP, Oracle 9.2.0.5
I can create the new controlfile and do a recovery with the syntax
"recover database using backup controlfile until cancel"
However, after this i'm trying to open the DB with the following syntax:
"alter database open resetlogs"
This takes a few seconds, then the instance gets terminated, showing an ora-600 error in the alert.log (i guess its useless to show the specific ora-600 error here, or am i wrong at this point?)
now i'm wondering if the difference in the operating system could be the reason ? I also have to mention that the database files from the hot backup were transfered over a WAN line, could a damage to this files, happened during the transfer cause something like this ?

When you re-create a controlfile using a script or command that says 'create controlfile...', that command will require you to spell out the path to all the datafiles and online redo logs. It is a simple matter for your server process to visit each of the files mentioned in the create controlfile and read the SCN stored in the datafile header. It can also read the online redo logs and read the latest checkpoint change number stored there.
If all those numbers agree, that is obviously the age to which the rest of the database had gotten before the controlfiles were lost, and it's OK to create the new controlfile with that agreed-upon SCN forced in to the controlfile as its new SCN. Therefore the entire database is consistent and the database can be opened without recovery.
This sort of thing is what happens when you close your database down nicely and then delete all controlfiles as part of a recovery demo on a training course!
If those numbers don't agree, then it doesn't really matter. Logically, the highest number found, whether that be in one or more of the datafiles or one of the online logs, must be the age the database had reached before disaster struck. Your server process then writes that highest number into the new controlfile as its new SCN, and therefore your new controlfile agrees with the age of the latest bit of your database. The bits which were found to have smaller SCNs than that are therefore obviously in need of recovery -and because your new controlfile knows the SCN at which recovery should stop, recovery can be performed without trouble.
When the datafiles are inconsistent the control file has the latest SCN on it and it tries to bring the entrire database consisent with respective to its SCN..if something does not matches it says it is consisten
SO the recovery is done mainly based on the Controlf file..but the term backup..assume we have binary backup or the created new controlfile will have the scn to bring the DB to consistent state

Archive logs are missing in hot backup

Due to which after command (used 2 times) "sql 'alter system archive log current';" I see the following lines in alert log 2 times. Because of this all the online logs are not getting archived (Missing 2 logs per day), the backup taken is unusable when restoring. I am worried about this. I there any to avoid this situation.

Incomplete Recovery Fails using Full hot backup & Archive logs !!

I am doing on Recovery scenario where I have taken One full hot backup of my Portal Database (EPR) and Restored it on New Test Server. Also I restored Archive logs from last full hot backup for next 6 days. Also I restored the latest Control file (binary) to their original locations. Now, I started the recovery scenario as follows....
1) Installed Oracle 10.2.0.2 compatible with restored version of oracle.
2) Configured tnsnames.ora, listener.ora, sqlnet.ora with hostname of Test server.
3) Restored all Hot backup files from Tape to Test Server.
4) Restored all archive logs from tape to Test server.
5) Restored Latest Binary Control file from Tape to Test Server.
6) Now, Started recovery using following command from SQL prompt.
SQL> recover database until cancel using backup controlfile;
7) Open database after Recovery Completion using RESETLOGS option.
Now in Above scenario I completed steps upto 5) successfully. But when I execute the step 6) the recovery completes with Warning : Recovery completed but OPEN RESETLOGS may throw error " system file needs more recovery to be consistent " . Please find the following snapshot ....

oh you made up a new thread so here again:
there is nothing wrong.
You restored your backup, archives etc.
you started your recovery and oracle applyed all archives but the archive
'/oracle/EPR/oraarch/1_9624_601570270.dbf'
does not exist because it represents your current online redo log file and that is not present.
the recovery process cancels by itself.
the solution is:
restart your recovery process with:
recover database until cancel using backup controlfile
and when oracle suggests you '/oracle/EPR/oraarch/1_9624_601570270.dbf'
type cancel!
now you should be able to open your database with open resetlogs.

That's correct, System is working as designed.
When all the procurement process is finished, it must be possible to delete the PO item for example for archiving purpose .
You can see the on-line help on that matter:
You cancel items in a purchase order by deleting them.
Please note that an item may only be deleted if it is closed (that is
to say , there is no outstanding quantity to be delivered or invoiced).
Items are regarded as closed if, for example:
· the ordered quantity (or more) has already been delivered
· the ordered quantity has been invoiced in full
· no related follow-on processes (such as reservations) are active
in the stystem."
As you have already received the goods and posted the invoice, the deletion of the item shall have no effect. The procurement process has been completed.
If however you try to delete the item after GR but before invoice receipt, the procurement process is not complete, therefore the error occurs.
Also note the item shall be marked as deleted, but not actually removed from the System, it shall still be available for reporting.

HT4946 Oops, I deleted my device backup from iTunes but want it back!

When a device backup is deleted from iTunes, is there a way to get it back? I was trying to sync my iPad and create a backup on my new laptop, but it glitched during the sync process so now my "Other" is shown as almost 25GB on my 64GB iPad. I had created a backup at that point, which included all my local app data. However, in my attempt to fix the "Other" size issue, I somehow ended up restoring my iPad to an old backup from two months ago and deleted the current backup accidentally. I would really like to find out where the device backup goes when it is deleted. Does it move to the Recycle Bin or anywhere else on the computer I can access it to bring it back? I have lost about two months of local app data by accidentally restoring to this older backup, but now I have no current backup to use!

That is a really good suggestion, however it was all done within a period of a few hours (from time of backup creation to accidentally deleting that new backup instead of the two-month old version). Therefore, I don't believe the computer had a backup in between that time. I will look, but I think it was created and deleted all too quickly for there to be a secondary backup restore point on the computer.

As with the Mail app on a Mac, the iPhone's Mail app stores all email recipients in a list of previous recipients which is separate from the address book or contacts. The email address autofill feature when addressing an message pulls from Contacts and from the list of previous recipients.
Different from the Mail app on a Mac, there is no access to the list of previous recipients with iOS on an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to remove a previous recipient from the list, or to add a previous recipient to the address book or contacts that is not already entered - not at the present time anyway.
The only way to purge the list of previous recipients at the present time is by restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, which will start being re-populated again with every sent message.
