Hotmail setup in IOS6 does not have a "leave mail on server" setting

Since upgrading to IOS6 and iPhone 5 I noticed that my Hotmail account does not behave as it did before the upgrade.  Prior to the upgrade, Hotmail was set up as a POP3 service, with settings that allowed user to retain email on the server.  Thus, if you read or deleted email on the iPhone or iPad, you still had it on your Macbook or iMac.  With the new IOS, there is an option for an easier ADD Email for Hotmail.  If you utilize the easy setup, you get no choices in how IOS device handles your email - if you read you incoming email on the iPhone, the email is automatically grayed out as READ on the laptop.  If you delete the email on the iPhone, the email is deleted on the Mac.  There are no settings that allow you to modify the behaviour of the mail account, unless you delete the account and reinstall using the "Other" service.
Is this a "FEATURE" or was there a mistake made by Apple in how it manages Hotmail accounts?

Yup.  You have to use the "Settings"/"Mail Contacts Calendars"/"Add Account"/"Other" option to set up hotmail and then under "Advanced" options, set "Delete from server" to NEVER.
If you use the native option to set up your hotmail account, it will push all changes made on phone thru to server.

  • How to schedule an appointment with a contact that does not have an e-mail address

I want to use MS Office Outlook to schedule appointments with clients that may not have an e-mail address. They way appointments are made at our office is that a clients calls to ask for an appointment, the appointment book is consulted for the open time
slots and a date and time is agreed. There is no need to send out an e-mail address even if the client has an e-mail address. Right now if a client does not have an e-mail address Outlook does not even show the option to set an appointment.
On the day of the appointment the clients are phoned and it would be nice to be able to just click on the appointment and then have the computer make the call via Skype.
This is supposed to be easier than using an appointment book with a pencil and eraser.

    Hi,
It's a good suggestion but currently there's no such feature in Outlook.

My Envy 7645 does not have the grayscale option in advanced set up to print in black and white

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that your HP Envy 7645 does not have the grayscale option in advanced set up to print in black and white, on Windows 7. I am happy to help!  It is possible, that you may only have the basic driver installed, instead of the full feature software and drivers. I would recommend to try our HP Print and Scan Doctor first, to see if ti can resolve the issue automatically. Otherwise, please try the following steps:  Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.Disable any Antivirus programs. Disable Antivirus software.Disable any firewall programs. Turn Windows Firewall on or off.Create a new user account. • Bridge CC does not have Nikon .NEF file association to set

When I open preferences and go to File Association settings, the extention for Nikon Raw .NEF is not there. It's a pain having to right click the thumbnail everytime I want to open it Photoshop CC.  I do have Photoshop CS6 and it defaults to that in the context menu when I right click.  How do I change that. I am on a MAC using OS X  Mavericks.

JPGs use lossy compression so some pixels aren’t exactly the same anymore; however, if you use the highest or close to highest quality setting in LR during Export it will be hard to tell any difference.
JPGs are compressed by contain 3 colors per pixel whereas raw files (NEFs in your case) usually contain only one bit per pixel and are compressed in a way that makes them smaller but doesn’t lose any image data.
TIFs if not compressed are the width x height x 1 or 2 bytes per pixel x 3 colors-per-pixel so can be huge as you have seen.
If you shoot JPG and edit those in LR you still cannot see the LR edits in those original JPGs, only the camera rendering.

  • My foxfire start page does not have my yahoo mail tab on top of page

On my older version of Firefox I had a mail tab in the upper part of the Firefox page, when I highlighted this icon it went to my yahoo mail. I no longer have this icon, instead I have a lot of MSN tabs. Fox Sports, Latest Headlines. Which is the default tabs I believe. When I first opened my Yahoo mail I got a dialog box stating this was an insecure site! I said go ahead any way as I have been using Yahoo Mail for years!

That is an old Firefox home page that Google doesn't maintain anymore.
You can set the home page to <b>about:home</b> or leave the setting in the Options window empty to get the new Firefox home page.

  • Remote Desktop Virtualization Host does not have a license server

I'm receiving an error when attempting to connect to a virtual desktop that is part of a virtual desktop collection. The server that hosts the virtual desktop collection also hosts a session host collection and the RD licensing server. The event log of the
server issues event 1156 "The Remote Desktop Virtualization Host server does not have a Remote Desktop license server specified. To specify a license server for the Remote Desktop Virtualization Host server, use the RDS module for Windows PowerShell."
The RD Licensing Manager indicates that volume licenses have been installed and are available as seen below. The RD Licensing Diagnoser indicates no issues.
I found a MS blog entry for Windows 2008 R2 that indicates the following: "Because there is no GUI interface for specifying licensing configuration on an RD Virtualization Host server, support has been provided in Windows PowerShell to enable this scenario.
As a result, a VDI administrator who does not want the (RemoteFX-enabled) RD Virtualization Host server’s licensing settings to be
centrally managed (from the RD Connection Broker server) can manually configure these settings on the RD Virtualization Host server(s) in the VDI deployment by using the following Windows PowerShell cmdlets:", but I'm not sure if this applies to Windows
    2012 as well.
    Thanks.

    Dale Smith

    Hi Dale,
Based on my research, please try to use this PowerShell command to set the RD licensing server.
    Set-RDLicenseConfiguration -LicenseServer
    Server FQDN -Mode PerUser
    Set-RDLicenseConfiguration
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj215465.aspx
Also, please note that the RDVH server must be a member of a VDI collection.
    Hope this helps.

  • User does not have the propoer permissions to setup Networks

    Hi all,
I was happily setting up networks and watching them be created in CPO from SE 3.01 Setup Wizard only to go back later and realize that a Cloud Portal Cancel Service Request had basically removed them all approximately 3 minutes after I had set them up!!!!
It seems the user I was using didn’t have the correct authority to do this operation. See below…………
System (External) on 08/03/2012 3:10 PM "[NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM (03/08/2012 16:10:53) - Service request cancelled due to an error.
    Error Code: 1009
Error Description: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.
User does not have proper authentication.
    Automation Summary URL: \\CPO-DEV-01.uktme.cisco.com\AutomationSummaries\20120803\9ca]"
System (External) on 08/03/2012 3:10 PM "[TEO change request 'Add Network' was marked canceled by 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM'.]"
The interesting thing is that I am using the cloud admin setup in the wizard who belongs in the Cloud Provider OU and this OU seems to have all the correct setting ( I checked with a parallel working system) but it was missing the nsAPI user in the OU so I added this.
One further clue is the I suspect steps 1 + 2 when using the wizard didn’t have connectivity from CCP to CPO at the time as the authentication wasn’t setup correctly but I though these step were REX internal to CCP only so this and CCP to CPO connectivity didn’t matter too much. Regardless we fixed this connectivity at this stage to proceed to step 3.
Now I suspect in step 1 & 2 sets up some user accounts in CPO for these operations and I am nervous about going back and deleting the Cloud Admin account as I seem to remember another thread about this stating it was not possible.
    Any thoughts experts please?
    Cheers

    Hello Michael,
I have spent the whole day on the same problem then you, which forced me to check all the aspects of my 3.0.1 Starter Edition Lab installation :
    - nsapiuser declaration in the CPO logins
    - nsapiuser member or not of the Cloud Technical administrators (thank you, chaotic documentation...)
    - IIS authentication mechanisms for RequestCenter virtual folder (disabled by default in IIS 7.5)
But none of them solved the error.
The closest information I get (I suppose) is from the CPO activities view, where I finally touched the process that fails:
I did not found the solution yet, but I am sure it is there that the Portal fails to authenticate the data from the Orchestrator.
    Best regards,
    David

  • I cloud wont let me sing in with my aplle ID beceause it does not have a @hotmail to it what do i do ???

Icloud won't let me sign in with my apple ID beceause it does not have @hotmail.com ! What do i do i just want my music back im tempted just to get the old version of ios and the old itunes it was so mush betor then this !

If you have one of the old Apple IDs which are just a username and not an email address you cannot use this to create an iCloud account.
You will need to go to http://appleid.apple.com and create a new ID - for this you will need a functioning non-Apple email address (GMail or Yahoo would be fine).
Then you can sign in with the new ID in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud and create an iCloud account and an @icloud.com email address.
There is no problem about using this ID for iCloud and the old one for iTunes. The two are not related.

  • The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship

When I try to log on to my DC it says "The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship". It won't let me log on. I installed another server server 2012r2  (its virtual )
and I can get to ADSI edit.
I think what happened was I had a pc that could not connect without unplugging the network cable. So I found this fix
FIX: “The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship”2032011
I’ve seen a lot of solutions, or suggestions rather, with regard to the error in the title of this post.  In my experience, the problem can almost always be resolved without extra domain add/removes and reboots, which is the most prevalent solution I have
seen around.  Usually, this issue is due to a mismatch between attributes of the computer account in Active Directory and those values on the system itself.  Here are the steps I take to fix this issue when it crops up:
Open up Active Directory Users & Computers pointed to the domain the computer account resides in
From the “View” pull-down menu, make sure that “Advanced Features” is checked
Navigate to the part of your organizational unit (OU) structure where the computer account for this server resides
Open the Properties for the computer object
Choose the “Attribute Editor” tab on the Properties dialog box
Check the Attributes dNSHostName & servicePrincipalName – anywhere that a fully qualified hostname is specified (e.g. myserver.mydomainname.com), make sure that the entry matches the hostname
you have configured when you go here on your server: Start -> Computer -> Right-Click, Properties -> Change Settings (under “Computer name, domain… settings”) -> Full Computer Name
As an example, for a fictitious W2K8 R2 server whose Full Computer Name is “srv1.mydomainname.com”, these attribute/value pairs should be in Active Directory:
    dNSHostName:
    srv1.mydomainname.com
    servicePrincipalName:
    HOST/SRV1
    HOST/srv1.mydomainname.com
    RestrictedKrbHost/SRV1
    RestrictedKrbHost/srv1.mydomainname.com
    TERMSRV/SRV1
    TERMSRV/srv1.mydomainname.com"
Not reading it carefully I add a computer with the same name as the pc having the issue and followed the above. The problem is that I did not notice that the spn did not want the name of my server (serv1) but the name of the trouble
    pc.

    Hi Stephen,
What version of MS Office are you using?
Are you facing the issue similar to that mentioned here: Acrobat/Reader: Attach to Email button not working for PDFs referenced from long URLs
Open Acrobat. Use the click-path Edit - Preferences - select the Category "Email Accounts". In the dialog there is the "Add Account" drop-down. Select "Add Other". The "Add Webmail Account" dialog presents. You'll fill out the dialog's fields with Outlook.com settings. (don't forget the "Advance Settings" button)
From a look-see on the web it appears that the following are the needed settings. BUT, you'll be wanting to validate.
The Outlook.com SMTP server settings for sending outgoing messages from an email program on desktop, cell phone or mobile device are:
    • Outlook.com SMTP server address: smtp.live.com
    • Outlook.com SMTP user name: Your full Outlook.com email address (not an alias)
    • Outlook.com SMTP password': Your Outlook.com password
    • Outlook.com SMTP port: 587
    • Outlook.com SMTP TLS/SSL encryption required: yes
For incoming messages from an Outlook.com account to an email program using POP, use the Windows Live Hotmail POP3 server settings.
The Outlook.com POP server settings for downloading new incoming messages to email program, cell phone or mobile device are:

  • Internet Connection - Your Apple wireless device does not have a valid IP.

I just bought an Apple TimeCapsule and set it up normally, following instructions to my Arris cable network on the Videotron provider here in Quebec, Canada. The TimeCapsule did appear as a wireless device on my MacBook Pro (after updating the AirPort software from the provided CD - as was instructed). I went through the whole installation process to obtain at the end this error:
Internet Connection - Your Apple wireless device does not have a valid IP.
The only provided instructions were to check the cable and then contact your Internet provider. Well it seems clear to me that if I contact my provider and say that the internet connection works fine directly on my computer, also fine through my "normal" wireless router but not with my new TimeCapsule, I won't get much of a response.
After a lot of research, a friend indicated the solution in my case.
You have to really reset the cable modem to convince it to start giving out IPs again.
    To do this:
    1. Unplug your TimeCapsule (possibly you might have to reset to factory defaults - see the documentation)
    2. Unplug your cable modem
    3. Reset your cable modem by pressing the reset button with a pen (or something) for several seconds.
    4. Plug your cable modem back in and let it reboot/restart - until the lights are back on.
    5. Plug in your TimeCapsule
Everything should now work and you can restart your AirPort set-up on your Mac.
    Good luck!

My ISP is AOL.  The service is DSL via a broadband modem.  Somewhere during the setup process there appears to be a communicatiosn issue between the Airport Extreme Base Station and the DSL modem.  When I hook the DSL modem directly to my iMac I can connect to the internet without any issues.
I tried the factory reset and the DSL modem reboot process described in other posts and seemed very close to success...until the internet setup step.  That is where this issue first presented itself.

  • This file does not have a program associated with it...

Ok, I'm not awesome at technological troubleshooting, so if someone could help me, I would be grateful because I'm getting frustrated.
I'm trying to play a silly little game online and it's telling me I need Shockwave.  I know I have it because I've played this game before (something time-wasting on addictinggames.com) and I found a file called Shockwave 11 in C:\\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Shockwave 11 with all sorts of things in it.
I checked my Add/Remove Programs list and it says I have Adobe Shockwave 11.5 and that it is used rarely.
Since there seems to be a glitch here that I don't understand, I went to the Download Shockwave page on this site and tried to download the latest version or whatever, if that would work.  The gray progress bar moves across under the "Adobe Shockwave Player is now installing" line and then I get an error popup that says:
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.  Create an association in the Folder Options control panel."
What am I supposed to do?  What does this mean?  What file?  Huh??
I am running Internet Explorer 7 and have Windows XP.
I am a total noob and need to be spoken to like a child.  Can anyone please help me?

I clicked on your link (thank you - where did you get that?) and installed the Full version, apparently successfully, though during the download there were a couple of components that were troublesome.
The error message I got during setup read: "Error opening file for writing: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Director\SWDNLD.EXE   Click Abort to stop the installation, Retry to try again, or Ignore the skip this file."  Retry did not work, despite having clicked it 10s of times.  I clicked Ignore, then got the same message again, but about a different file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Director\SwDir.dll   Clicking Retry again did not help move things along, so I ignored this one too.  What does this problem indicate?  Do I need to do something here?
Those are the only errors encountered during setup.  I declined the Google toolbar.  The dialog box says Successfully Completed; I clicked Close.
So I go to try to play this game as a test and it says "Installing Shockwave Components" and then I get the same error popup telling me that this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action and that I need to create an association in the Folder Options control panel!
What does this mean and how do I do it, since it appears to be critical to getting this thing to work...?

should I do a full reset of TM (per the instructions at the link below) prior to setting up the TC?
I'd start by just selecting the new destination. Do the "full reset" if you have trouble with that.
do I need to set up the network portion first and then turn on TM?
    That might make things easier.
even though my mini was previously only connected wirelessly to the old router, I plan to connect via Ethernet to the TC (for one thing, to make the initial backup run faster). Do I just turn AirPort settings off on the mini, or does that need to be on in order to setup the TC?
To assure that your first backup is over Ethernet I'd turn off AirPort until it's done. Check the order in the Network panel of System Preferences. I'd move the Ethernet connection item to the top of the list.
In other words, does the initial setup of the TC from my mini happen wirelessly or over Ethernet?
    Either way should work fine.
I currently have a networked printer conneceted to my old router, which I will connect via Ethernet to the TC. Can I assume that, once I have set up all of my family's PCs/Macs/iDevices on the newly-established TC network, that I will have to re-establish connection to the printer as well?
Not necessarily. I'd only do that if the printer isn't available after the switchover.
I would like to reformat the second external drive (the one previously being used for TM backups) for possible reuse with another computer. Can I simply reconnect this to my mini and reformat?
    That's what I'd do.
is TM going to see it and try to back it up?
If you've already reconfigured Time Machine to use the Time Capsule drive, there shouldn't be a problem.

  • Windows 8 does not have a USB boot option

QuestionHow can I boot my Windows 8 laptop from a USB device? I created a recovery disk on a USB thumb drive.
    So far I have:
Entered into the UEFI (BIOS) and set USB to boot first.
    Disabled secure boot.
I tried to reboot using the general setup options for startup in the windows settings page. I choose boot from USB through the UEFI, but got an error message that system does not have a USB boot option.
To confirm I also created a bootable DVD with an ISO burner, but my laptop cannot detect a DVD boot option either.
I assumed that the firmware of the UEFI for this computer allowed a bootable USB but in practice I cannot seem to get this work.
AnswerTo assist with not being able to boot from a USB device on a Windows 8 laptop, perform the following:
    Plug in USB bootable device.
Hold down F12 when restarting and access UEFI menu (option is below drive list). If system is set to fast boot, CLICK HERE for instructions on entering the UEFI.
Go to UEFI and make USB "1st boot".
    Disable secure boot.
Go to the "Advance" Tab, select "System".
Change boot order from UEFI to CSM.
    Save changes and exit (F10).
Computer will restart and boot from USB drive.
When finished go back into the UEFI and set defaults then save changes and exit (F10). Windows 8 will reboot normally next reboot.

Done that, only choices are "Set up Firefox to Sync" & "Pair a Device". No ''UNLINK THIS DEVICE". Your turn.
