How can I archive little used contacts and then reuse?

I have about 400 or so contacts in Address Book, some of them I want to keep but as they are related to old projects I've worked on I don't want them in my active Address Book (which syncs to my phone).
What is the best way/what are the alternative ways of doing this?
Ideally I want my 'live contacts' in address Book and Phone but my other contacts saved somewhere easily accessible as sometimes I will need to pull them into my 'live contacts again for a while.
Solutions much appreciated
(I'm running Tiger on my iMac and Leopard on my PG, currently if that makes any difference}

do an archive, file>export>address book archive, and archive that Ab with a specific name, then when you need that archive, you can archive the "live contacts" with another archive name, and then import that first archive and so on and so forth...

On your Mac, for duplicates, switching Contacts off then back on in System Preferences > iCloud may prevent duplicates.
On the iPhone / iPad tap Settings > iCloud. Make sure Contacts and Calendars are swtiched on.
Try restarting your Mac and your iOS devices when items won't sync as they should.
To restart an iOS device: Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer regularly. Your contacts should be in whatever program you have chosen to sync (Outlook or Address Book for example).

How can I back up my contacts and apps to Windows 7 if my iPhone has been previously sync'd to a Mac?

I have always used my iBook G4 to sync and backup my iPhone 3GS, until the screen went wrong on my Mac.

Before you connect to a new PC, make sure that autosync is disabled in Edit/Preferences/Devices, otherwise your phone will be wiped during the following sync.
Then back up manually:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to the new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing.
Transfer the purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the phone for the first time.

How can I add my icloud contacts and calendar back to my iphone?

As of last week, my iCloud contacts and calendar disappeared from my iPhone 4S. I was trying to do something with adding Outlook to my PC to access calendars for my children's school, and now I cannot get my iCloud contacts as a group (tried turning setting off then back on in Settings) and my iCloud calendar doesn't show up (tried turning this off then back on in Settings also - won't add it back) on my iPhone (iCloud account is intact on PC). It's as if iCloud isn't even an option any longer. PLEASE HELP!!

It sounds like you now have no iCloud Contacts or Calendar information on your iPhone.

You should have been syncing your contacts with your computer regularly or cloud service. If you have not, then they are gone.
If you are using photo stream, then you may be able to get your pics from there. You should have been importing them to your computer regularly as well. If you have failed to do these things, then they are gone.

missgen, as a mother of a 16 year old, I know all about temper tantrums. Let's not let that device go to waiste. You can hard reset that device by connecting it to a computer with iTunes downloaded to it. Once you connect the device, it will open iTunes. You will be provided with the option to "Use Recovery Mode." For your convenience, I've provided a very helpful link with the steps to reset that phone's password: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
Once the password has been reset, you can master that reset that device in Settings>General>Reset>"Erase All Content & Settings"

How can I detect an external trigger and then generate an event or occurance

I have a PXIe-1065 chassis with a PXIe8030 controller, PXI-6653 timing module, PXI-6542 Digital IO, and PXI-6259 DAQ board, running LabView 8.5. I need to detect a trigger (100 ns TTL pulse) from an external device then start a process on a GPIB device. Is there a way for me to detect this trigger and then generate an event, or an occurance ? Can I do this without polling a device? Can any of this hardware generate an interrupt that LabView can detect?

My screenshot was only an example how you can approach the issue. I wasnt saying that you should try it with AI....

How can I add three binary numbers and then convert to string (Hex format)?

I have my problem "half" resolved, but need some assistance on the final piece. Overall, I need to take three string values (hex format), convert them to binary, add them and then convert back to a string (hex format). If that doesn't make sense maybe this will:
Final Result (My target) = 0xCC
= 0x03 + 0x01 + 0x04
          = 0x03; 0011b
          = 0x01; 0001b
         = 0x04; 0100b
For my app, we are dropping "masking" some of the bits so that we get 1 byte:
          = 0x03; 11b
          = 0x01; 001b
          = 0x04; 100b
So...
11001100b = 0xCC
In my VI, I am taking each initial string [0x03,0x01 and 0x04] type casting them to U8. Next I need to "mask" the binary values as shown above and then add them. I am not sure how to do this in LV??

How can I duplicate a smart object and then edit it, without affecting the original?

I have a vector element from illustrator that I am placing in a tshirt mockup in photoshop. I have the layout essentially how I would like, but I am trying different color variations. I would think to just duplicate the first placement and then edit the color of the resulting copy, but this affects both the copy and the original. I looked into it a bit further, and found that I should try the "replace contents" option under smart objects, and that this would change the copy. So I go back to illustrator, made a copy of the original vector, and then made the color change I had in mind, and then saved it as a separate document that I could then use in replacing the contents of the copied. This however, is still affecting both smart objects!
I have tried this as both linked smart objects and embedded smart objects without success.
Ultimately, I simply want to maintain the position of the original layer with the duplicated and edited layers. If you know of a better way, please share!

What 21 is talking about is making some sense.
I am able to create new smart object via copy, then create a variation on the original file linked in the parent smart object. Then I save that from illustrator with a different file name. Then I go back to photoshop and replace contents of the new smart object, linking it to the newer illustrator file.
This gets around the problem, but it takes a few more steps than the same thing did it in earlier versions of photoshop.

How can I wipe the Launchpad clean and then repopulate it to my spec?

As I delete apps from my system they seem to linger on the LaunchPad. Some are easily removed by simply holding down the option key and clicking the 'x' that appears. But this does not apply to system apps or some others like Lightroom. How can I go about this?

I'm using Final Cut Express 2. I've been editing a film composed entirely of stills (the only transitions apart from straight cuts are dissolves and one Ken Burns effect). I'm still a beginner and have been told that I need to make the original images ready for exporting in DV-Pal format by adjusting them in Photoshop. I've done this, but now I need to import the new (adjusted) files from the new folder. Problem is, FC Express keeps opening the original media and I can't get it to go offline so that I can reconnect to the new folder. I really don't want to have to replace every image and transition individually. Can anyone help?

I've tried doing what you said - trashing the old folder and then relaunching FCE - but it resolutely comes up with the original files in the browser and timeline. (I checked that they're the same ones by looking at the 'date modified'). Any further ideas?
