How can I block a wifi signal that is overtaking my connection?

I am having a problem with a new network detected by all my apple products-iPhone 4s,
MacBook Pro running lion and older g4 I book running snow leopard. The network
Is called NOTFREE and had two signals - one secured and one unsecured that says guest.
Everytime any of my computers or phone connect I am redirected to the guest password
Site for Cisco. All my computers say I am connected to my  connection, but when a page loads
It is redirected to the same guest login page at Cisco.  I have deleted all networks except
Mine on my preferred list and it still goes to this redirected page. And the pull down list
When I click the network symbol at the top says I am on my network. This is very confusing
To me. Could I have a virus ?

If you open System Preferences on one of your Macs, click on Wi-Fi on the left, then unlock (in the bottom left), and then click on Advanced... in the bottom right. It will then list all the Wireless networks that have been added to that Mac.
In this case it sounds like these networks have been previously added, therefore when the Mac is turned on it will try auto-connecting to them again.
You should first delete them from the list, and secondly consider turning off the 'Remember networks this computer has joined' to prevent them being added again.
If these other networks belong to someone else you cannot hide them or disable them, and in many countries jamming them would be illegal and interfere with your own Wi-Fi as well.

How can I block bogus web site that keeps trying to update firefox? Need to identify bogus site too.

hello, this is a scam tactic that is trying to trick you into installing malware, so don't download or execute this kind of stuff - updates are handled automatically by firefox so you don't have to download anything (you can always initiate a manual check for updates in ''firefox > help > about firefox'').
you might also want to run a full scan of your system with the security software already in place and different tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes], [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] & [http://www.kaspersky.com/security-scan kaspersky security scan] in order to make sure that there isn't already some sort of malware active on your system that triggers these false alerts.
[[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]
you could also help by pressing F10 & going to ''help > report web forgery'' while you're on this dubious page - this might get the page into the list of malicious sites that get blocked in firefox (the actual list is maintained by google) or when such pages use the firefox logos or trademarks to trick users into downloading malware you could also file it at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/legal/fraud-report/.

  • How can I strengthen my wifi signal to my Apple TV?

I'm using a Time Capsule / wifi base station in my office upstairs to create my wireless network.  In the basement, I have Apple TV connected to our wireless network but when I stream movies, the connection will drop after a bit.  Connecting them with a long cable is unfortunately not an option.
Any ideas I can do to strengthen the wireless signal when the 2 points are not on the same house floor?

Move the Wi-Fi access point or connect a second Wi-Fi access point to an Ethernet connection closer to the ATV.

  • What other devices can emit an identified wifi signal that my touch can"see"

When I connect my Touch to WiFi, the list of available Wifi networks also show "other devices" in a separated column. One shows up with a cute name of "computer virus X3" and a little skull icon. It's showing itself as having a unlocked signal. What  what can this "Other device" be, if it's not a WiFi router?
Please excuse my ignorance, I've never seen this before.
    Thanks, Ron

Yes.  Reset network settings. Head to Settings -> General -> Reset and tap Reset Network Settings.

  • Hi ,my name is napoleon from Australia ,just want to know like I went for holiday in the philippines and someone stole my iPhone 4S,how can I blocked that phone so that no one can use it?

Hi my name is Napoleon and I just know what will happen to my iPhone 4S ,I went for a holiday in the Philippines las 2 weeks ago and some stole my iPhone 4S, how can I block the phone so that no one can use it?

You can't block it from use worldwide. Some carriers will block phones reported as stolen. I hope you had a passcode on it and that you had set the option to erase the phone after 10 failed tries. If you didn't change every password on every account ever accessed from the iPhone. And cancel any credit cards that you have used from the iPhone.

  • Please Help... i lost my macbook and there are so many accounts that haven't been logged out yet. how can i block my old macbook? (block from everything)

There are so many accounts that haven't been logged out yet. how can i block my old macbook? (block from everything like it cant be used at all again)

It should be unnecessary to point out that leaving one's computer logged into anything that requires security is foolhardy. The reason there's a login process is so you will have the opportunity to log out and thereby secure your account. Failing to do so completely defeats the purpose and leaves you wide open to catastrophic consequences.

  • How can I block a number that calls me persistently every single day but only shows 3458  it does not show the full 10 digit

how can I block a number that calls me persistently every single day but only shows 3458  it does not show the full 10 digit so on your block page will not let me block it!!!  So frustrated and I am not answering it with all the hackers out these days I don't want to give them access to my phone.

        @lottsandy
I can understand your frustrations and concerns with receiving these unknown calls!  I would love to assist you with preventing these types of calls.
Sounds as though you're receiving some type of telemarketing call.  Although you're unable to add the shorter numbers to your call block list, you can definitely add your number to the National Do Not Call registry http://1.usa.gov/1whONxp.  I hope this will help prevent those unwanted calls.  Thanks!

Hi there irock2! I know how pesky those unwanted calls can become. Since the calls are not coming from a normal 10-digit American number, it may be someone international attempting to reach you. Our Usage Controls http://bit.ly/plz3pA feature offers the ability to block international calls, and even calls from private and restricted numbers. We also offer the option to change your number at no charge through My Verizon http://bit.ly/WJbRNG if you'd like.
    Thank you

  • How can you 'block' your Iphone, if somebody stole it? so that they can not mess with your social network accounts or anything alike?

Yesterday night, somebody stole my Iphone.
Now I'm trying to safe my privacy and everything trough itunes. But how can I 'block' the Iphone, so the thief won't be able to access my phone, or at least not my apps and stuff? is there anyway, -besides trying the impossible and getting it back- I can do??
I'd really apprecciate any tipp and help at this one!!!

What To Do If Your iDevice or Computer Is Lost Or Stolen
    iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:
This link, Re: Help! I misplaced / lost my iPhone 5 today morning in delta Chelsea hotel downtown an I am not able to track it. Please help!, has some good advice regarding your options when your iDevice is lost or stolen.

  • My neighbour's Mac Book Pro shows up as discoverable when Bluetooth is turned on in my iPad Air.  How can I block her device?  How can I prevent her pairing with my iPad Air. I need Bluetooth on to play music over my system.

My neighbour's Mac Book Pro shows up as discoverable in my Bluetooth list on my iPad Air.  How can I block her Bluetooth device? How can I prevent her pairing with my device?  I need Bluetooth to stream music on my Bose system.  Thanks!

If your device is discoverable, the other BT device would try (I am not sure if that would be successful). If it was, it would appear in your system preferences>Bluetooth.
Take a look at this re: security:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10786
This is from another Apple article:
    Use Bluetooth
You can wirelessly transfer files between computers—even Mac to PC—using the Bluetooth File Exchange utility. You can even browse selected devices and retrieve files remotely. For extra security, you can stipulate that only trusted devices be allowed to connect to your Mac, and 128-bit over-the-air encryption is also available

P.S. Since I have not had the issue, I have not researched this before. Thank you for making me look into BT security

How can I block all other mail account just to only use the exchange mailbox of our company? This is to prevent the user to setup his on company iPhone.

I don't know if I'm asking this all in a way that can be understood? Thanks ED3K, however that part I do understand (in the link you provided!)
What I need to know is "how" I can separate or rather create another Apple ID for my son-who is currently using "my Apple ID?" If there is a way to let him keep "all" his info on his phone (eg-contacts, music, app's, etc.) without doing a "reset?') Somehow I need to go into his phone's setting-create a new Apple ID and possibly a new password so he can still use our combined iCloud & Itunes account?
Also then letting me take back my Apple ID & password, but again allowing us (my son and I) to use the same iCloud & Itunes account? Does that make more sense??? I'm sincerely trying to get this cleared up once and for all----just need guidance from someone who has a true understanding of the whole Apple iCloud/Itunes system!
Thanks again for "anyone" that can help me!!!
