How can i change the JButton look?

Question

I like to create a new button class "LinkButton".
So that the buttons gets a link look.
But i can not set the button "background" disable.

The exact behavior of calling this function varies on a component-by-component and L&F-by-L&F basis.

edit And why does the API refer to this as a function especially as it returns void?
