How can I change where an applet focuses its view

I'm writing a scrolling marquee applet and in order to scroll up, out of sight or scroll Left out of sight, I have to be able to draw my strings with negative x & y values which seem to not be allowed.
I figure if I draw my marquee with the upper left corner located at around 300, 50, (instead of 0,0 ) I won't have to worry about drawing to negative coordinates.
Is there anyway to set the applet so that when it opens in a browser, the upper left hand corner of the visible applet would begin at 300, 50 instead of 0, 0, by default?
Charlene English

when the text is at 0,0... it is still in view of the user. 0,0 is, so far, the extreme upper right hand corner of the scrolling marquee. If I wanted the text to scroll off screen to the left, I would have to start assigning negative values to the x component of drawString. This is the reason I want to offset the whole marquee by 300, 50. My Marquee is 350, 30 in size, so if I offset my Marquee without being able to control the view of the applet, I'd have an applet on my page (650, 80) in size and the marquee would be in the lower right hand corner.
What I'm shooting for is an applet that is (350, 30) in size with it's upper left hand corner located at 300, 50.

The backup files for my devices are saved to my internal hard drive. I have a small internal hard drive and would like them to be saved to an external drive. How can I change where iTunes automatically backs up to?

This has nothing to do with iTunes as iTunes provides no way to move or relocate the backup files.
A search of google or the fourms would reveal ways to create a folder link to relocate the physical location where the files are stored.

  • How can I change where an iTunes download is saving?

My iPod has a larger capacity than my computer's hard disk, so I bought an external drive to store my music on. I moved my iTunes library folder to this G: drive and instructed future downloads to be sent there as well. This has worked well.
Problem--I'm downloading a whole season of Grey's Anatomy from iTunes, but I had forgotten to turn on the G: drive until about 10 minutes into the download. I think the TV shows are being saved to my computer, because the computer keeps crashing every 5 minutes when I try to resume the download (because of not enough space on my hard drive.) Question: How can I change the save location of a purchase that has already been started?

    this will help

  • How can I change where my files are backed up to when changing to iOS 5?

    Hi,
I have a Windows PC with two hard drives, one being an SSD and another being a regular hard drive.  I use the regular hard drive to store music, movies, media, all of that good stuff; I use the SSD to store the operating system and a few video games in order for better performance.  My question is, why, when I try to change my iPod to iOS 5, does it automatically back up to my SSD (C:) drive?  Is there any way that I can change the location to which my files are backed up?  I have plenty of space on my second hard drive, but I can't find anywhere in iTunes where there is an option to change this.
    Thanks!

Command-click on the document's name in the window's title bar.

  • How can I change the contacts app settings to view by groups?

When I had an iPod Touch (3rd generation), I was able to sort my contacts by groups by using another app and then when I launched the default contacts app I could tap the "Groups" button and I saw a list of them (Family, Friends, Businesses, etc). That way, I could tap the group I wanted and only view those contacts. Now I'm using an iPhone (4th generation with iOS 6.1.2) and it is the most obnoxious contacts system in the world. I now have to unselect every group I don't want to see, and it's a pain-in-the-neck to get Facebook contacts assigned to groups as the app I use to assign contacts to groups isn't "permitted" to use those contacts that are from Facebook or those who don't have a Facebook link unless I add them and delete the old. I work with a nonprofit organization and I have a lot of contacts for various businesses through them but I shouldn't have to unselect 12 different groups just to view a single group. I've tried looking in settings and can't figure out how to change this. I must have over 100 contacts and this is a pain to deal with. Did Apple really think this was the best change they ever made to the contacts app? Considering they still haven't implemented the ability to assign contacts to groups...
Another thought is why not also view contacts by business or "theme"? Such as, what if you have a large, extended family and might want to view just 1 section (like my cousins' family who have various last names due to marriage). This is why being able to view by group is so important to me but if I create 5 different groups for family and friends, that means I have to unselect 4 of them AND all the other groups for businesses, work, community, etc just to view the specific contacts. So, did Apple change this or am I just not seeing how to view them the way I want?

I assume that you are in Germany ? Try going to the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app on your iPad and tap on your account id, tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account, and then select the Country/Region section and select Germany.

  • How can I change the highlight color of grid view folders in the dock?

Using OSX 10.10 Yosemite, the highlight color for a folder in Grid view is barely noticeable.
Can you spot the highlighted icon below?
I've grown accustom to clicking the applications folder in the doc then typing a few letters to get me close to the app I want- now it takes an extra few seconds for me to visually find the icon that got highlighted.
Is there a way to change the highlight color here?

I would open up the grid spacing slightly so everything does not run together. In System Preferences > General, try setting Highlight color: Red. This won't change the grey selection background around the icon, but it will turn the background behind the icon text to red. That stands out. However, the collateral effect is that text you select in this editor, and other OS X applications, will now have a red background too. Changing colors will require a killall Finder in the Terminal. Actually set mine to #ffff00 which is a vivid yellow, which is more practical when selecting text in a document.

  • Lion has changed the order in which Finder items are sorted in Icon View; Acc vs. Desc.  How can you change this order?

The order in which items are sorted has changed in Lion and I can't figure out how, or if, it can be changed.  Previously in Snow Leopard if you sorted by 'Date' in Icon View, your icons would be arranged from oldest to newest.  The same was true for 'Kind' and all the order sort options.  In Kind my *.zip files were positioned last.
Now in Lion, the order is reversed.  Newest and Zips on top... the accending vs. decnding order has been changed.  How can I change the sort order in Icon View?

I managed to fix the reverse order issue by deleting the com.apple.finder.plist and com.apple.finder.plist.lockfile in the user library folder. I did have to use terminal to delete the files and then re-launch finder from the force quit window. Here are the step-by-step instructions:
Hold down the option key while selecting the Go menu. Select Library.
    Navigate to the Preferences.
Find the com.apple.finder.plist.lockfile and delete it.
    Open Terminal (Application/Utilites)
In Terminal type in sudo rm (include a space after the rm and do not hit enter)
Drag com.apple.finder.plist file to the terminal window. It will fill in the path to the file)
    Press return.
Type in your password and hit return. (The cursor will not move when you type in your password)
From the Apple menu, select force quit.
    Highlight finder and select re-launch.
Be careful when using Terminal. There is no undo button and you can accidentally delete important files.
    I hope this helps.
