How can I Changing SID

I have dedicated server. The hosting company installed the oracle Xe and set the sid=XE whereas my java servlet connection string nows the sid=orcl on port: 1521
this is very difficuilt to change the hudereds of java files. please let me know how can I change the SID

I think you misunderstood. I am not suggesting changing the SERVICE in the connection descriptor only the alias SID. I can use tnsnames.ora to setup all the aliases to the database that I want as long as the SERVICE= and HOST= go to the right HOST and SERVICE (or database instance in this case).
Look it is very simple. I can name the SID= to anything I want in the tnsnames.ora file, it is only an alias. It is only the connection descriptor that matters for the actual connection. I can set the SID to NONESENSE and it will work, as long as SERVICE=XE. I have to have the proper connection descriptor which tells the program which host and service to send my request to.
Now since the connection descriptor actually uses SERVICE=XE all is well. That is what the listener is looking for not the SID used as the alias.
Looking at the LISTENER.ORA file on the database host it will have the SID_NAME=xe which is what we need to match the SERVICE=XE in the connection descriptor of the tnsnames.ora file.
Hope that is clearer.

You may have bookmarks that have long title. Firefox 4 shows the full text of the bookmark name, so if it doesn't fit with opening to the right side the Firefox will open to the left side. You can scroll through the list and make the bookmarks with a long name shorter.

Tap and hold on the Keyboard key at the bottom right side of the right portion of the keyboard. You can use the Dock and Merge option from the menu.
Alternatively you can drag the keyboard down and move slightly left, to get it to merge.

It's actually pretty simple to change the login name, and it doesn't affect files at all.
All I did was change the field labeled "user name".

Hi:
Log in and click on your user name, then look at the upper the right side of the page.
Click on the triangle to the left of the "More Resources" section.
This will drop down, and give you options.
Select User Settings.
This will now open a page, and in the light blue type on top, follow it along to Contact Information, click on that, and change your e-mail address to what you want, and hit the blue submit button on the bottom right side of the page.

simply go to the iTunes homepage, scroll right down to the bottom and on the right side of the page you should see different columns of options. Click the 'Change Country' option and follow the instructions from there on.

You need to go into the Preferences for the your WiFi and remove your neighbors from the list or move it below yours so that it will connect to yours first. System Preferences (Accessed through the Apple in the Upper Left Hand Corner) > Network. Then click on WiFi in the list on the Left hand side of the window and then click on Advanced button in the lower right hand corner. You will then get the list of all the wireless networks that have been joined and in the order they were joined from oldest to newest. Find the one in the list and either drag it below your network, or click on it and then press the "-" button to remove it from the list totally and then from that point on it should start connecting to your WiFi first automatically.

hello rodale, what you're seeing is probably a side effect of firefox not being able to save certain preferences into its profile folder.
go to ''firefox > help > troubleshooting information'', click on ''profile folder/show folder'' and close all firefox windows afterwards. a windows explorer window should open up - in there delete the file named '''user.js'''.

Firefox puts cursor at the end of a textarea, not at the beginning, how can I change this (serious usability nightmare when working with a wiki)?

When I edit my DokuWiki a lot of text is displayed in the textarea. Until Firefox 4 the cursor was always at the beginning of the textarea, which made it easy to scroll down to the part I needed to edit. Now the cursor is always at the end. This is a serious usability nightmare for me. How can I change it that the cursor is at the beginning of the textarea text?

thanks for your answer but unfortunately, this isn't it. I can toggle bidirectional text and the whole text is changed so that it aligns on the right side. But the problem I have is that the text is still aligns on the left side, editing is left-to-right, it's just the cursor that's at the end of the text.

How Can I Change Default Zoom Settings For Safari?

I just got my new iMac and hate the fact that everytime I open Safari everything is small and centered directly in the Safari screen. How can I change the default settings so it either zooms in more or is in a landscaped mode so I don't have two big white patches on the sides of my window?

The only way I know of, (and that I use) is as follows:
Open textedit and create a new document.
Add the following 3 lines to the file
body {
zoom: 175%
Save the file as "somename.css". I called mine defaultzoom.css and saved it in Documents.
In Safari go to Preferences | Advanced.
In the Style sheet: dropdown box choose "other" and browse to the location of your somename.css file.
That's it, now webpages will open with the default zoom level you used in the file (I use 175% but you need to tweak it for your screen size). Also, I do run into situations where some pages don't render correctly. If that happens you can go back to Safari | Preferences | Advanced and change the Style sheet dropdown box to none until you are done viewing that paticular website. Then just put it back when you are done.

If you have a rescue email address set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address set up then go to Express Lane and select 'iTunes' from the list of 'products' in the middle of the screen.
Then select 'iTunes Store', and on the next screen select 'Account Management'
Next choose 'iTunes Store Account Questions' or 'iTunes Store account security' (it appears to vary by country) and fill in that you'd like your security questions/answers reset.
You should get an email reply within about 24 hours (and check your Spam folder as well as your Inbox).
