I have the need to encrypt a zfs file system in solaris 11.
and solaris 11 disk. any ideas?

Yes, just enable the encryption property on the home directory datasets and not any others.
Since what you want to protect is a users home directory you probably also want to use the pam_zfs_key module so that when you login it will automatically mount up the encrypted dataset using the same (or different) passphrase as your login password.
See the examples in the pam_zfs_key(5) man page for how to configure it.

Either use Paragon's CampTuneX to resize it or use Boot Camp Assistant to remove the partition and restore the drive to one partition. Then create a new, larger Boot Camp partition. This will remove/delete/erase your Windows system.

You don't generally encrypt passwords. You simply hash them. There should rarely, if ever, be a reason to decrypt a password.

How can i create a zfs slice on the finish scritp of a jumpstart?

Hi All,
i need advice for a particular task.
i have a jumpstart wich create a certain number of usf slice (/, /var, etc...).
it's working good, but i have a final goal : with the rest of the half of the free space, i want to create a zfs pool, with the help of the finish script.
i think the best way is to use "format" or "fdisk" command with a script like "fdisk /dev/dsk/c0d0 < script.sh"
and after that a simple "zpool create ...." command for creating the zfs.
so i have 2 questions:
do you think it's the best way?
how can i write the "script.sh" for telling him to use only the half of the free space?

Why not make another slice for ZFS to use? Then just setup the zfs pool in your finish script. I use JET here as a friendly front end to jumpstart. You could just have your jumpstart setup create the slice (base_config_profile_s?_size) with no mountpoint (base_config_profile_s?_mtpt) then use that slice when you make the zfs pool later in the finish script.
I do not believe you will be able to easily get ZFS to use just part of a device without some sort of partitioning. Do some reading on zpool (man zpool) under the vdev section.

How can I get my Windows Partition to be a startup disk?

I have Tiger 10.4.11, I had boot camp, Running Vista, Just fine for months.
I recently had a problem, within vista which caused a problem with the hard drive/master boot record which wouldn't allow Vista to boot anymore and actually reported "missing operating system".
Previously if I did nothing, after powering on my MacBook, it would default to the Windows partition and start it up (Vista).
Of course I could change this from the "startup disk" applet from within Tiger or I could use boot camp from within Vista.
I have since been able to fix my Vista related startup issue, however at present the MacBook is booting into Tiger by default.
I can HOLD the OPTION key and select either OS.
From the "startup disk" applet within Tiger, it no longer shows "Windows" as a startup option which seems to be an indicator of a problem with Tiger of how it sees the hard drive and/or partition.
I ran disk utility, no change.
How can I make Windows appear as an option in the "startup disk" applet within Tiger?
I can use Boot Camp within Vista, to select the "Windows" disk to restart from, and that works, but I would like to restore full functionality to Tiger.

How can I delete a failed partition space?

I tried to partition my disk for the first time, but unfortunately, it failed. Now there's a white space left for the supposed partition space. How can I retrieve it back? Help please.

How can I create a recovery partition to use Find my Mac?

I want to activate Find my Mac on my MBP. The iCloud system preference says I don't have a recovery partition that's required for it. It apparently didn't install when I upgraded to Mountain Lion.
How can I retroactively create a recovery partition? There are no other partitions on the drive (other than the Macintosh HD, of course).

FIRST, assuming you do not have another Mac of the same model with a working restore, I would suggest using your Lion, mountaint lion or Maverick install to create a bootable system on a flash drive. You will need a DMG image created with Disk Utility from that stick to recreate the restore partition on your mac.
Once you create the bootable USB stick, Use it to log in and follow the below process to back up the restore partition. Then, save the DMG back up anywhere and finish the walk through on your normal operating partition.
Close Disk Utility if it is open.
Open Terminal
Enter the command below
defaults write com.apple.DiskUtility DUDebugMenuEnabled -bool true
Now open Disk Utility and pull down the Debug menu
Click Show Every Partition
Now, select the Recovery Partition and create a new image.
NOTE: The Recovery Partition will need to be made in Read Only format if you wish to restore the image normally with disk utility or by software such as Deploy Studio. If you take an image with Deploy Studio and want it to restore the Recovery Drive normally, you will need to adjust the Work Flow for Image Capture to use the Read Only format. It will slow things down. If you dont use the read only format, the .dmg will not scan properly. This is most likely because the recovery drive already hosts compressed files. That said, this guide WILL restore from even a compressed .dmg image. HERE IS THE WALK THROUGH FOR RESTORING A SCANNED READ ONLY FORMATTED .DMG.
Copy the Recover HD.DMG image to a flash drive
The following must be on an Administrator account
Next, Log on to the admin account of the computer you wish to restore the MLTI Recovery Partition.
Copy the Recovery HD.DMG from your Flash drive to the HD
Enter the following command in terminal
diskutil list
If there is no partition for the restore drive listed, then use Disk Utility to create a GUID Partition keeping in mind the size of the original restore partition. (19 gigs for the MLTI Version of the restore drive)
Open Terminal and enter the following command
sudo asr -noverify -source (PATH FOR DMG IMAGE HERE) -target (PATH FOR RECOVERY HD PARTITION HERE) -erase -noprompt
NOTES: You must replace the () and everything in between with the respective path. You can simple drag and drop the source (your .dmg) and your target (the drive to be restored) while you are typing in terminal.
Enter admin password
In terminal Type the following command
diskutil list
note which disk and slice is the restore partition. It should be /dev/disk0s3, but it could vary a bit.
Now, run the following in terminal
sudo asr adjust --target /dev/disk0s3 --settype "Apple_Boot"
REMEMBER: you may need to replace /dev/disk0s3 with your new restore partition's designation.
Enter Admin Password when prompted
Restart.
Don't forget to enter the following terminal command into the machine you took the Recovery HD image from.
defaults write com.apple.DiskUtility DUDebugMenuEnabled -bool false

I will create some SWFs and will want it to be played on WINCE device platform, but i need the SWF be encrypted and only played on my device. How can we do?

All rather vague so I'll just guess:
1. Restore from your back up
or
2. Use a file recovery application like File Salvage - you can download a free trial and it will scan the disk for you and tell you with might be recoverable. Actual recovery will require that you purchase the app. There may be many files with the same or similar names. Always recover the largest file size.
There are other such apps. Search on Macupdate or the App Store

Using Recovery Disk (Windows 8) - How can I use it without partitioning?

Whenever I install windows I add new partitions with lots of data added to them. But when I need to fresh install Lenovo Windows 8 OEM, it deletes all partitions because they are resized and formats everything and reverts to its designed partition structure. I do not want that. In normal (non-OEM) Windows I can install it to the system partition and it does not touch other partitions sizes or data inside it. Is there any way to do this with Windows 8 Lenovo OEM? I downloaded Windows 8 (non-OEM) from Microsoft - but it did not let my Lenovo OEM serial - it says it is for OEM version, not retail. How can I accomplish what I am trying to do?

I’m sorry to inform you that re-installing the Windows 8 OS (Operating System) using the created Recovery Media will take back the computer to factory settings and which same with the partitions. Hence a separate OS drive cannot be created as Non-OEM OS, to perform this a new Windows 8 should be purchased as the recovery media when created will be in encoded format and changes cannot be made.

How can I encrypt/decrypt data in Forms using a specified Package?

I have searched in the Internet for ecnrypting/decrypting data in Forms.
That is when I want to query the data outside the Form Application it will be encypted, otherwise if I want to query it in the form application it will be dycrypted

so please tell me how can i enable those features so that i will be able to use those features..........

Partitioning and Bitmap Indexes are features of Oracle Enterprise addition. In fact, I think that Partitioning is an extra option that needs to purchased with Oracle Enterprise - it is not a default feature.
These features do not exist on Oracle Standard Edition (and likely Express Edition too).

when I buy my iMac 24" I need to install win XP and OS X together and third partition for saving my stuff and work , after installing bootcamp I install xp and trying to resize one of my partition ( XP and OSX ) with different software such as iPartition and volumeworks and partiotion magic , ... but no one work for me .
after that I trying to install xp without Bootcamp .
I boot from my instalation DVD and make my hard drive to 3 partition and set my third partition to MS-DOS Format .
after Boot From XP cd and install Windows Xp in third partition and just installing Bootcamp Driver ( I make it befor ) after installing xp I install OSX too in my first partition and in this position I have a second partiotion to save my stuff and work .
