How can I get a refund on an app that doesn't work

I bought an application today and the application works on the orignal ipad on the old IoS 4 software but not the new IoS 5 software on my ipad 2. I have tried to remove the app and re-download the app incase it was corrupted, but still had the same problems. As this app is broken and doesn't work as advertised is there away for me to get a refund on this application that is obviously broken?

The only way at this point to get a refund on an app would be using Apple's direct online support feature "Express Lane." It's actually quite a cool feature. I believe reimbursment as of right now only has email support but the reps are extremely fast, thourough and helpful.     Refunds on downloaded software are virtually nonexistent.
    I have had cases where I purchase software on a physical disk. If I don't like the software I can uninstall it from my computer and sell it legally. Recouping most of my loss.

    Recently downloaded an app for my iPod Touch.  It said it was compatible, but when I try to open the app, my screen goes blank for 3-5 seconds and then goes back to the menu page.  After reading further reviews of this app, several people are having the exact same problem.  I reported the issue to both Apple and the app manufacturer, but did not receive a response from either.  Apple then proceeded to charge my credit card as usual.
    The amount of the money ($3) is not significant, however, I feel that Apple should have a reliable way for customers to report problems with the apps they download and are being charged for.  I realize I could simply contact my credit card company and have the charge disputed, but there should be a way to deal with Apple directly on this.
    Does anyone have any input or experience with this?

    Yes, I reported the problem using that exact sequence immediately after discovering the problem with the app.  When I submitted my complaint and request, Apple redirected me the website of the app manufacturer where I submitted the same complaint/request for refund.  I have not heard back from either, and was still charged, so I can only assume that is not the correct way to "Report a Problem" even though Apple would have you believe otherwise.

    Did you buy the app from App Store?  Did you check if your machine is capable of running this app?
    You should first set up a dialogue with the developer to try to determine what may have caused the problem.  Most developers co-operate with their clients, not least because it is in their interests to do so.  
    Sales from Apple are final and refunds are not the rule.  However, if you raise the issue against the receipt, (there is a note on the bottom inviting you to raise any issues you may have) exceptions have been made if the circumstances justify it.
