How can I get iOS other than 5.1.1 on an original iPad?
I can't open some apps because they require newer than iOS 5.1.1. My original iPad will not let me update any further. Help...
You can't. It's incapable of running iOS versions newer than 5.1.1 and will not activate if an iOS version older than 5.1.1 is force-installed on it.

If you are using iOS 4 (or earlier) there is no Software Update in Settings. That feature was first added in iOS 5.
To update you will have to connect your iPad to iTunes on a computer (preferably the one you sync with and backup to).

Right now, I feel like driving a nail through it.Me again. I cleaned out the headphone jack with a q-tip soaked with rubbing alcohol. Most of the q-tip fibre was removed to be able to insert it into the jack. After pushing and turning fairly vigorously for a half minute, I pulled it out and a large piece of pocket lint came out with it as well. The Ipod now sounds excellent.

Don't drag the midi into an open Logic project. The tracks won't set up correctly.
'Open' the midi file with Logic as if it were a Logic project. Then all the tracks will be set up so you can start editing them and applying better saved sounds and instruments, but you'll be at a starting place where you can hear what's going on. -

Close the pictures before you quit Preview. Cmd-opt-q will close all windows and quit. cmd-opt-w will close all windows and not quit.
