How can I Improve Shredding Process.

HI ,
I'm shredding XML into multiple realtional tables.
I want to understand what else can I do to improve
the performance.
The ORACLE version we are using is 11.1.0.7
Here is the scenario :
This is how the source table is where the XML is present
CREATE TABLE CLOB_TO_XTP (
          RQST_INFO_ID NUMBER,
          CERT_NBR NUMBER(12 , 0),
          RSP_XML XMLTYPE
     )XMLTYPE COLUMN RSP_XML
STORE AS SECUREFILE CLOB RSP_XML_BIN_LOB1 (
COMPRESS HIGH
RETENTION
NOCACHE
LOGGING
TABLESPACE TS_XML_LOB;
These are the Target Tables (There are many more say over 100)
1]
CREATE TABLE BR_CONT_DTL (
          BR_CONT_DTL_ID NUMBER NOT NULL,
          CRD_RQST_INFO_ID NUMBER,
          CERT_NBR NUMBER(12 , 0),
          NM VARCHAR2(4000)
     )COMPRESS FOR ALL OPERATIONS NOLOGGING;
2]
CREATE TABLE BR_CONT_PNT (
          BR_CONT_PNT_ID NUMBER NOT NULL,
          CRD_RQST_INFO_ID NUMBER,
          CERT_NBR NUMBER(12 , 0),
          VALU VARCHAR2(4000),
          TYPEOTHERDESCRIPTION VARCHAR2(4000),
          TYP VARCHAR2(4000),
          ROLETYPE VARCHAR2(4000),
          PREFERENCEINDICATOR VARCHAR2(4000)
     )COMPRESS FOR ALL OPERATIONS NOLOGGING;
Here are the insert statements :
1]
INSERT into BR_CONT_DTL
select BR_CONT_DTL_ID_SEQ1.nextval,CRD_RQST_INFO_ID,CERT_NBR,temp.*
FROM CLOB_TO_XTP tx,
XMLTABLE('RESPONSE_GROUP/RESPONSE/RESPONSE_DATA/CREDIT_RESPONSE/BORROWER/_RESIDENCE/CONTACT_DETAIL'
PASSING TX.RSP_XML
COLUMNS "_Name" varchar2(4000) PATH '@ _Name'
) as temp;
2]
INSERT into BR_CONT_PNT
select BR_CONT_PNT_ID_SEQ1.nextval,CRD_RQST_INFO_ID,CERT_NBR,temp.*
FROM CLOB_TO_XTP tx,
XMLTABLE('RESPONSE_GROUP/RESPONSE/RESPONSE_DATA/CREDIT_RESPONSE/BORROWER/_RESIDENCE/CONTACT_DETAIL/CONTACT_POINT'
PASSING TX.RSP_XML
COLUMNS "_Value" varchar2(4000) PATH '@ _Value',
"_TypeOtherDescription" varchar2(4000) PATH '@ _TypeOtherDescription',
"_Type" varchar2(4000) PATH '@ _Type',
"_RoleType" varchar2(4000) PATH '@ _RoleType',
"_PreferenceIndicator" varchar2(4000) PATH '@ _PreferenceIndicator'
) as temp;
Everything works smoothly. The data is getting shredded into appropriate tables.
Now I want to improve the execution time. Is there any thing which I can do.
I tried storing the source table as SECUREFILE BINARY XML
but had some ORA-00600 errors generated. This had improved the
execution time , but at the cost of ORA-00600.
Is there any way I can use XML - Indexes ?
Thanks ,
Aniket

RSP_XML XMLTYPE
) XMLTYPE COLUMN RSP_XML
STORE AS SECUREFILE CLOB RSP_XML_BIN_LOB1 (
COMPRESS HIGH Securefiles where introduced in 11.1.
AFAIK they have/had multiple issues regarding securefile & compression in 11.1. Most of them have been solved in 11.2, that's Oracle support advised to upgrade.
Remove the "COMPRESS HIGH" clause and I am guessing you are in the clear regarding the ORA-00600 issues. If you can pinpoint it to a specific issues, I would, via a SR, ask for a backport if available.
The better option would be (indeed)...
RSP_XML XMLTYPE
) XMLTYPE COLUMN RSP_XML
STORE AS SECUREFILE BINARY XML (...)with compression NOT set (set to default)...

  • How can I improve audio processing in Audition CS6?

I'm a Pro Tools user, slowly migrating to Audition.  I am NOT using this as an opportunity to bash either product.  They're both great AND frustrating at the same time.
One great thing about Pro Tools, in my opinion, is the way the tracks handle processing.  Almost regardless of what I'd put on a vocal track (radio imaging voice) like an EQ with a mid spike, with compressing and L1 limiting smashing it, once it went through the master track (with an L2 with "High Res CD Master setting on it), everything "came out in the wash."  Meaning, the master track in Pro Tools always managed to smooth things out nicely.
I'm not having that experience in Audition, and I'm guessing it may be me and my workflow.
    1.  I take a pristine clean voice track and place it on a a track.
    2.  One example is, I use Trackplug 5 for EQ.  It's a simple cut off of everything under about 420.
    3.  That's followed by Waves' CLA Vocals Stereo.  I use that for a nice compression, limiting and hint of verb on it.
    4.  Other sound FX go on other tracks.  Beds, sound design, etc.
    5.  On the Master Track in Audition, I place the L2, using the "High Res CD Master" setting.
    6.  After completing the piece, I do one of two things:  either I "right click" in the master track and select "Bounce Master To New Track", or in some cases, select all the regions in my piece and use the "Bounce To New Track" function, followed by a shortcut of the L2 mastering, same setting.
Either method produces an overmodulated mess of distortion and general unhappiness.  I will admit, I like things to punch through hard, and pushing the audio can sometimes get that effect in either program, but not THIS bad.
    Any thoughts?
    Thank you!!
Mac Pro, OSX 10.7.5, Adobe Audition CS6, Waves 9.1

I get the feeling that PT somehow actually stops you making the most mess that it's possible to!
The 'problem' (it's not really) with Audition is simply that it doesn't do this at all - if you make an almighty mess, then that's exactly what you get. This is why it's been possible to use Audition for scientific/acoustic measurements, which nobody would ever dream of using PT for; i.e., accurate results.
So if you like, PT crashes into 0dB quite gracefully; I think it's more like analog tape. With Audition, you absolutely get what you did, and it's up to you to sort it out. You could perhaps argue that PT is helping you to get a usable result more easily, and you might have a point...
Personally I prefer accurate results, and I've learned to be careful about processing limits. OTOH, if you put a good analog tape simulator in the master channel, chances are that you will achieve something similar with Audition, but...
What happens technically is that until relatively recently, PT didn't use a Floating Point processor in their mixer, and arrived at the results they did in a somewhat different way to Audition, which has always used it. With Floating Point processing, it's possible to get a massively overloaded output from the mixer which, when you monitor it, sounds absolutely awful through an output that's inherently integer-based in your sound device. But actually, it's accurate - and if you normalize this massive overload back to 0dB in waveform view, it will sound fine again - as if by magic. Most people find that once you've realized what's happening, and don't let the output monitor level get too hot, everything's fine.

  • How Can we improve the report performance..?

    Hi exports,
I am learning the Business Objects XIR2, Please let me know How Can we improve the report performance..?
Please give the answer in detailed way.

First find out why your report is performing slowly. Then fix it.
That sounds silly, but there's really no single-path process for improving report performance. You might find issues with the report. With the network. With the universe. With the database. With the database design. With the query definition. With report variables. With the ETL. Once you figure out where the problem is, then you start fixing it. Fixing one problem may very well reveal another. I spent two years working on a project where we touched every single aspect of reporting (from data collection through ETL and all the way to report delivery) at some point or another.
I feel like your question is a bit broad (meaning too generic) to address as you have phrased it. Even some of the suggestions already given...
Array fetch size - this determines the number of rows fetched at a single pass. You really don't need to modify this unless your network is giving issues. I have seen folks suggest setting this to one (which results in a lot of network requests) or 500 (which results in fewer requests but they're much MUCH larger). Does either improve performance? They might, or they might make it worse. Without understanding how your network traffic is managed it's hard to say.
Shortcut joins? Sure, they can help, as long as they are appropriate. [Many times they are not.|http://www.dagira.com/2010/05/27/everything-about-shortcut-joins/]
And I could go on and on. The bottom line is that performance tuning doesn't typically fall into a "cookie cutter" approach. It would be better to have a specific question.

  • How can I improve below SQL performance.

    Hi,
How can I improve below SQL performance. This SQL consumes CPU and occures wait events. It is running every 10 seconds. When I look at the session information from Enterprise Manager I can see that "Histogram for Wait Event: PX Deq Credit: send blkd"

    Welcome to the forum.
I created some indexes. I heard that the indexes are not used when there is a NULL but when I checked the xecution plan It uses index. What columns are indexed?
    And what do:
    select i.sub_type
    ,      count(*)
    from   express.invoices i
    where  i.nbr is not null
    and    i.extract_batch is null
    group by i.sub_type; and
    select i.sub_type
    ,      count(*)
    from   express.invoices i
    group by i.sub_type; return?
Also, try use the {noformat}{noformat} tag when posting examples/execution plans etc.
See: HOW TO: Post a SQL statement tuning request - template posting for more tuning instructions.
    It'll make a big difference:
    SELECT i.ID
    FROM EXPRESS.invoices i
    WHERE i.nbr IS NOT NULL
    AND i.EXTRACT_BATCH IS NULL

  • How can I improve this?

It's basically to add lots of tasks that should execute after a certain amount of time and execute them efficiently. How can I improve it? I've already thought of making the Events loop able.

  • How can i improve the speed of my mac?

my mac has 667 MHz, how can i improve the speed?

Sorry if that sounded not very helpful, but basically it comes down to that. Not much can improve the performance of machine of that vintage, to stand up to a current model, unless you spend almost as much on upgrades (some of which to consider are listed below).
Some thought should be given to the budget (money and time and effort) one is willing to spend. The G4 Digital Audio is possibly a good candidate for upgrading for someone who is interested in do-it-yourself computer stuff and bargain hunting for parts. It can even be a fun hobby. But even max-ing out all possible upgrades will still be lacking in performance compared to the current Mac models, I don't actually have any specific benchmarks, just my gut feel. And you may spend a good portion of the cost of a new machine on all those parts for the old machine.
Is this the 667MHz machine (G4 Digital Audio) in question?

    http://eshop.macsales.com/Descriptions/specs/Framework.cfm?page=g4da.html&title= Power%20Macintosh%20G4%20Digital%20Audio
or is it some other model?
Here are some CPU upgrades, for example:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/MyOWC/Upgrades.cfm?sort=pop&model=162&type=Processor&T I=2420&shoupgrds=Show+Upgrades
you can even get a small rebate for your original CPU
    http://eshop.macsales.com/Service/rebate-program/
Any of those CPUs should double your processing speed, but you may also need more RAM...or the CPU will just be waiting for data to be read from the virtual memory on the hard drive.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/133SD512328/
you could max it out with a whopping 1.5 GB, with 3 of these.
and you may need a better video card...
    http://eshop.macsales.com/MyOWC/Upgrades.cfm?sort=pop&model=162&type=Video&TI=29 34&shoupgrds=Show+Upgrades
To add larger and faster hard drives than the original Ultra ATA/66 can handle you would need a PCI ATA133 or PCI SATA card...
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/ACARD/AEC6280MOB/
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Sonnet%20Technology/TSATA/
And if you need to install OS X from a DVD, and want to burn your own DVD, you may need a new optical drive, if one hasn't been installed already, to replace the CD-RW:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/MyOWC/Upgrades.cfm?Model=162&Type=InternalOpticalDrives&sort=pop
Also, check out the Power Macintosh G4 forums if you have any questions about that particular model, (if I guessed correctly)
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=113
Even while I am trying to build a case to convince someone not to waste their money on this project, I am thinking to myself, where can I pick up one of these G4 towers to take on this project myself. Maybe a Quicksilver, no a FW400 MDD dual-boot for sure, I still have some OS 9 software. I did about all I can with my G3 Desktop, and spent more than my MacBook cost.

  • How can I improve the performace of this?

I have two tables - TableA and TableB. TableB is having 500,000,000 rows. I need to insert these rows, after some processing on them, into tableA. My insert statement is like this -
    Insert into tableA
    select A,B,C,...
    from TableB
How can I improve the performace of this?
Here it will select 500,000,000 rows from TableB and store the result in cache and then start inserting.
Do I have any way so that the select statement starts releasing the records (and not wait upto 500,000,000 record ) and in parallel insert statement start inserting the records?

    Shirish,
You need to insert more than 500 millions of rows in a table, right ?
But one point can be a problem, this is when you said "I need to insert these rows, after some processing on them". What does that means after some processing ?
Please give us more information about all your process, maybe the problem doesn't come from the insert itself ?
And why the APPEND hint cannot be an answer ?
And why create table cannot be an answer ?
What time did you expected for insert of these 500 millions of rows ?
    Nicolas.

I don't know if this provides an alternative means: https://expresslane.apple.com ; select 'iTunes' in the first column; 'iTunes Store' in the second column
If you are really desperate you could buy the app yourself, then request reimbursement.

  • How can I improve the stability of itunes64bit 8.0.2 on my Vista system?

Vista Home Premium: iTunes64bit: application crashes after adding album photos and then changing views (list, Album, split) or clicking on different playlists and back to the entire music library.
The library has 42,000 items (mostly music) so it is quite large. At launch it takes a long time for itunes to load and display. There is no user cues telling me it is running. It simply displays after 60 or more seconds.
Then I start working in the library, pasting pictures to multiple items, modifying album titles.
After doing a few management tasks on my music items and navigating back and forth between the music library and playlist (changing views), the application stop being responsive and according to the log, the app just plainly crashes.
Sometimes I can restart successfully but most of the times, I need to stop the itunes service or log-out before I can restart it successfully.
    I am using itunes64bit 8.0.2
I am running it on a machine equipped with 4GB of ram and the library lives on a 500GB external hard drive plugged-in through USB 2.0.

How can I improve quality of image when burning a movie to a DVD?

What resolution are you using?  If the DVD is to be playable on an ordinary DVD player, only ordinary TV resolution is supported.  You need Blue ray for HD.

  • How can I flip my iphone videos on my PC? My videos from my iphone are horrible when I transfer them to my PC. How can I improve the video on my PC? Can I just convert the files to WMV? When the video plays the speed is off, it's half slow-motion

My videos from my iphone are horrible when I transfer them to my PC. How can I improve the video on my PC? Can I just convert the files to WMV? When the video plays the speed is off, it's half slow-motion and staggers into normal play. The clips are slightly cut as well, the clips do not roll continuously.  I'm taling about videos that are no more than 2 minutes long.  I'm frustrated and I could really use some advice-my kids basketball games is what I'm recording and I'm trying to send them to my family (they are not very tech savvy). Thanks

Not it's only function but one for which it was most admirably suited, which is why I really hope someone can find a work around. I am hoping my post to the Apple feedback may prompt a useful response from Apple and I live in hope that my post here will elicit a useful response from another user. I did not miss the the text at the top of the feedback form but you presumably missed my initial text, 'someone here can explain' or my subsequent 'work around from another user'
Just in case anyone reading this has a large collection of music videos, video podcasts or iTunes U then DO NOT upgrade your iPad to iOS 5. If you are considering purchasing the iPad as a useful mobile device to experience these media organised in your iTunes please don't as you will be wasting your money. (unless someone on this forum knows of a way to undo the mess created by those infallible folks at Apple)
Yes I know it does other things but the purpose I bought it for doesn't work anymore

  • How can I improve download speed

How can I improve download speed of movies purchased from iTunes on my AppleTV? 10 hours+ minimum. I've already selected a lower video resolution from the settings in the iTunes store.   It used to be way faster. Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Check the Internet speed to confirm it is what it is supposed to be by going to www.speedtest.net
On the ATV, try Settings > General > Reset.
Power cycle the router, modem, and the ATV
