How can i increase table field length?
Hi all!
Little URGENT!
I am stuck up at one point. I have dmbtr currency field which has 13 length. Now i would like to increse the length of it as per client's requirement.
Can anyone guide me to do that?

DMBTR is standard SAP field having fixed length.If you want to increase the length, you need togo to data element and domain and change there, but it asks accesskey becasue its standard field. Thats is not advisable.

The field length allowed for packaging material type description is 20 characters. If i need to have this length to be increased to 25-30.Is it possible?

Unfortunately there is no standard way to change this, the desc. field of the view (V_TVTY-VTEXT) is created from the value T685T-VTEXT which has been defined with the Domain TEXT20, so in order to add addition characters to this field, you would need to redefine the preceding field type.

BOM is created with some component and item category.
In task list when you go to component, in normal case one selects and copies BOM over there by clicking component selection button.
Once BOM is copied over there the BOM item category will get copied. As it is BOM item category in Task list it is greyed and it will get copied automatically from BOM.
You specify item category required by you in IB01 or IB02 and then use that BOM in task list. Go to componenet tab and click component selection button. Once BOM is copied over there the BOM item category will get copied -

If you do not want to specify it as hard code, then define a variable for it if you want to pass the value for it from the selection screen so that it will be dynamic. Code will be as follows.

How can we insert a field when it is null and not present in database?
I am working on a report in CR XI..i have strucked ata point where i am unable to find solution..my report has fields like Financial supply and physical supply..as a froup...but both are not displaying on all pages as there are no values to be displayed in them..even though how can i display both fields in all pages ..no matter what the figures are but i need these both fields to be displayed..plz help me out?

Before you start, you should probably take a backup copy of your design (the .dmd file and associated folder), in case the update does not work out as you had hoped.
You need to use Import > Data Dictionary again, to start the Data Dictionary Import Wizard.
In step 1 use a suitable database connection that can access the relevant table definitions.
In step 2 select the schema (or schemas) to import. The "Import to" field in the lower left part of the main panel allows you to select which existing Relational Model to import into (or to specify that a new Relational Model is to be created).
In step 3 select the tables to import. (Note that if there are an Foreign Key constraints between the new tables and any tables you had previously imported, you should also include the previous tables, otherwise the Foreign Key constraints will not be imported.)
After the import itself has completed, the "Compare Models" dialog is displayed. This shows the differences between the model being imported and the previous state of the model, and allows you to select which changes are to be applied.
Just selecting the Merge button should apply all the additions and changes in the new import.
Having updated your Relational Model, you can then update your Logical Model. To do this you repeat the "Engineer to Logical Model". This displays the "Engineer to Logical Model" dialog, which shows the changes which will be applied to the Logical Model, and allows you to select which changes are to be applied.
Just selecting the Engineer button should apply all the additions and changes.

How can I format a field in the form creator? It's putting the same text in all the fields within a table. I want each field within the table to have different text. As soon as you click out of the table, all the text is the same.
I even changed the fields from a text box to a drop-down list so a person can make their selection, which will be a quantity from 0-9. There are two of these such fields. You make your selection in each, click off the table and both fields show whatever I selected in field 1. The original Qty I selected in the bottom field was a 5 but it changed it to whatever is in the top field on it's own. I've added a screen shot.This behaviors usually happens when you create the fields but a copy paste command from one of the fields. The copy paste command assumes that your intentions is to maintain a copy of the field in two separate locations (e.i, a form field "company name" printed in each and every page of a multi-page form document.
Go to the properties fields of each field and make sure to assign unique form field names. -

Steploop and table contol is inevitable in certain transactions. When we run BDC for such transactions, we will face the situation: how many visible lines of steploop/tablecontrol are on the screen? Although we can always find certain method to deal with it, such as function code 'NP', 'POPO', considering some extreme situation: there is only one line visible one the screen, our BDC program should display an error message. (See transaction 'ME21', we you resize your screen to let only one row visible, you can not enter mutiple lines on this screen even you use 'NP')
Now with the help of Poonam on sapfans.com developement forum, I find a method with which we can determine the number of visible lines on Transaction Screen from our Calling BDC program. Maybe it is useless to you, but I think it will give your some idea.
Demo ABAP code has two purposes:
1. how to determine number of visible lines and how to calculte page number;
(the 'calpage' routine has been modify to meet general purpose usage)
2. using field symbol in BDC program, please pay special attention to the difference in Static ASSIGN and Dynamic ASSIGN.
Now I begin to describe the step to implement my method:
(I use transaction 'ME21', screen 121 for sample,
the method using is Call Transation Using..)
Step1: go to screen painter to display the screen 121, then we can count the fixed line on this screen, there is 7 lines above the steploop and 2 lines below the steploop, so there are total 9 fixed lines on this screen. This means except these 9 lines, all the other line is for step loop. Then have a look at steploop itselp, one entry of it will occupy two lines.
(Be careful, for table control, the head and the bottom scroll bar will possess another two fixed lines, and there is a maximum number for table line)
Now we have : FixedLine = 9
LoopLine = 2(for table control, LoopLine is always equal to 1)
Step2: go to transaction itself(ME21) to see how it roll page, in ME21, the first line of new page is always occupied by the last line of last page, so it begin with index '02', but in some other case, fisrt line is empty and ready for input.
Now we have: FirstLine = 0
or FirstLine = 1 ( in our case, FirstLine is 1 because the first line of new page is fulfilled)
Step3: write a subroutine calcalculating number of pages
(here, the name of actual parameter is the same as formal parameter)

Is this a table ?
if yes then you need to extend the tablesapce of table MBUF, no the table.
using brtools you can extend the tablespace.

How can I increase font when I am downloading report?

I am running report ,then there is 1 button 'PDF download' through that I am downloading that report using function module 'CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF' , But there is 1 problem it showing very small font.How can I increase that font.

megha waykarYes, that's the obvious answer I tried many times. THis setting only changes the font I type and send. Everything I receive, no matter where it comes from, including your email suggestion I just printed, comes in at about a 4-point font.
I can increase the font when reading the email, but it's stuck when printing. -

This is about PA characteristic derivation.
I want to change the characteristic value "Sales Order (KAUFN)" by derivation.
But I cannot select the characteristic field on target field.
The field "Sales order(KAUFN)" doesn't exist there.
Why? How can I use the field "Sales Order" on derivation?

(for sales order item) as target fields of derivation step 'enhancement'
you have to modify the coding of subroutine EXIT GET_ALLOWED_TARGETS
in program RKEDRCOPA like this:

Actually sales order number and sales order item shouldn't be changed
by derivation (therefore they are no valid target fields in standard)
but if you need to fill them within an enhancement this modification
will help you to define them as valid target fields. But this is just
the technical frame so far; the logic from which table you'd like to
derive the sales order number correctly depends on your implementation
of the enhancement! I just want to ask you to be rather careful with
the implementation of the exit so that the sales order number isn't
changed in cases that shouldn't be concerned.
