How can I install Lion back on my mac, after the hard drive was replaced?

I had my hard drive replaced, by warranty. Guys in service centre installed 10.6.7 , but as my mac is a new one, and was eligible for free install of Lion. Unfortunately I didn't use time machine, so i don't have a back-up on software (I guess it's included in Time Machine). I have tried to download Lion from the Apple store application - it says - The file got somehow corrupted, and didn't run the installation. I have tried to download t once again - AppleStore app  said it's installed already - And I couldn't download it again. I've decided to reinstall MacOS from DVD's I got with my mac and to try again. Now AppStore offers me to buy it! But it's supposed to be free, just because I had it installed already, isn't it? I wrote an email in Hardware up-to-date program, hope they'll help, but my mac was bought almost half a year ago.. What else can i do? Can somebody give me any advice, please?

You bought your Mac after Lion came out? Right?
You then upgrade from snow Leopard (10.6.x) to Lion (10.7.x), correct? How did you do the upgrade the first time?
You had to logon to the Apple Mac store and use your purchase date and serial number to get the free upgrade the first time. Just do that again.
Maybe not through the App store? Maybe through Apple Support after logging into your account and viewing your registered products?

My win8 pc hard drive failed.  After the hard drive was replaced, I copied iTunes Media backupfiles from external hard drive (Karen's Replicator backup software was used).  ITunes does not recognize these back up files even though the location is the same as cloud & recently burned music that does show- help!  The backup files consist of 34,000+ songs; almost all burned from my own CD collection.  I do have most of the songs on an ipod classic but hesitate to try to restore from that.  Can someone tell me how to get these 34,000 songs to show up in iTunes?  Thanks!!

This diagram shows how a typical iTunes library ought to be set out (click on it to enlarge)
The red outline highlights the media folder and its contents, the various subfolders are only created if that kind of content is in your library. The right-hand side shows the files that should be found in the iTunes library folder; sentinel is normally hidden so may not be visible. The core of your iTunes library is the file iTunes Library.itl, you need to restore this, the other library files and the Album Artwork folder, as well as the media folder, to restore your library.

  • How can I get Itunes7 back on my computer after a hard drive crash?

I really don't want to be forced to go to Itunes 8. Was very satisfied with using version 7. I still hear there are many problems with version 8. I still have the CD for version 6. Would it be better, or more safe to stay with 6? But I liked the features for 7 better. Need help?

The latest iTunes works fine for most people. I have not had any problems myself, but Apple does offer a download of iTunes 7.6 here:

  • Why does my iMac (with Mountain Lion) no longer recognize my external hard drive I have used as a back up via Time Machine after the hard drive was accidentally unplugged?

Why does my iMac (with Mountain Lion) no longer recognize my external hard drive I have used as a back up via Time Machine after the hard drive was accidentally unplugged?

Do you mean the external hard drive is not mounted on the iMac desktop?
Check if Disk Utility sees the drive. Applications / Utilities / Disk Utility. If the external shows up in the left column, select it and click on Mount.
If it does show up this way, I recommend using DU to Repair Disk.

  • My macbook pro crashed and the hard drive was replaced. How do I restore my backup pre- 9.6 iphoto library to the 9.6.1 iphoto library? They look completely different.

My macbook pro crashed and the hard drive was replaced. How do I restore my backup pre- 9.6 iphoto library to the 9.6.1 iphoto library? They look completely different. When I look at my backed-up iphoto library folder I see lots of files and folders: ALbumData.xml, Attachments folder, etc. The 9.6.1 iphoto library doesn't appear to be a folder at all. Help!

iPhoto 6 and earlier libraries were regular folders with the kind of files your reporting.  With the advent of iPhoto 7 the library folder was changed to a package similar to the application packages but have essentially the same files and folders inside.  There's no reason to have access to the inside of the iPhoto Library so Apple changed them to packages.
Do you have a backup copy of the iPhoto Library from before the HD crash.  If so restore it to the Pictures folder in your Home folder.  If you previous version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 or earlier download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 on your library before trying to open it with iPhoto 9.6.1.

Or if you purchased Pages as part of iWork on a disk, reinstall from the same disk.
    Best of luck.

  • How can I install my cs6 on my mac without the disc?

How can I install my cs6 on my mac without a disc? I lost it, but I do have the codes.

Download the trial from here and activate with your serial number.  Be sure to following the Very Important Instructions:
    http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs6-direct-download-links.html
If you have already activated on two computers, then you’ll need to call/chat with Adobe to have them deactivate one.

  • How do I restore my data after my hard drive was replaced?

The hard drive in my iMac failed after I upgraded to Mountain Lion last week. The drive has been replaced and I'd like to restore files from my Time Capsule, if this is possible. However, when I enter Time Machine, there is a long wait while a dialogue box says "Connecting to backup volume" and then, when it becomes available, there are no previous dates before today listed and I can't move backwards, as I've done previously. I know that backups exist because I've used Time Machine before to restore files I've worked on to previous versions - and the capsule is still telling me that it's very nearly full of data. Is there a way to restore to a new hard drive, or is that asking too much of Time Machine? Please forgive my ignorance. I'm worried that I've lost a LOT of irreplaceable files.

Hi again. Okay, so I'm a little embarrassed because I just needed to wait and have faith. I'll leave this here for anyone who is panicking like I was today.
Essentially, I had to allow Time Machine to install a new back-up on the Time Capsule. I resisted this for a while and thought I'd made a mistake in allowing it when it had to discard an old back-up to fit the new one onto the machine. At this point, I was worried that I was losing a valuable older back-up in place of one of an empty-ish drive. But, once this back-up had completed, I was finally able to travel backwards and see the contents of my previous hard drive. I've currently restored my desktop and some personal files and tomorrow I'm going to go for the big targets, like my iTunes library.
    Thanks, Apple.

  • How can I install Lion on a second Mac?

After the first installation nothing was left on my computer: No install file nothing except for the installed OS.

Yes.  You needed to copy the install app to a usb drive or some such *before* installing.
Now you will have to download again; but you won't be charged again if the same Apple ID at App Store.

  • How can I install an Application on one of my other Hard Drives?

I would like to know how I can install Applications on one of my other hard drives. I find that when I go to install an Application, the main hard drive shows up allowing me to install it. The other hard drives show as unable to install Application. What am I missing? Thanks.

A system is what is missing as the installer looks for a valid folder, and may need to install support files in /Library as well.

  • After my hard drive was replaced I installed Mountain Lion. I was unable to use time machine or migration assistant to access files on my external Omega hard drive even though the files are still there?  Is there another way?

My hard drive on my iMac was unrepairable so Apple installed a new one for me.  When I reconnected my external Iomega USB hard drive I could "see" the original backup figures and the rows of "windows" and back to the original red rows of dates in time machine, but I could only access the recent installation date of my new OS X Mountain Lion.  Migration assistant would not work as well only accessing the recent backups.  Is there a way to "unlock" the past data so I can retrieve my documents and photos without resorting to purchasing "rescue" software??

  • I can't use iMovie '09 after my hard drive was replaced

My hard drive crashed about two months ago and since then I can open iMovie 09' (version 8.0.6) but it won't allow me to do anything once it is opened.  Under the File tab only the options "optimize video", "import from camera" and "import are live - the rest are grayed out.  I have seen the suggestion to remove plist files from the library, but I can't actually see any there that have iMovie in the name.  I have verified and repaired disc permissions.  I have updated software and reinstalled the applications install DVD.
I think that I had mountain lion installed before the crash and that I am now back to 10.6.8 (lion?)  - I'm not sure if this is relevant.
    Thanks for any advice.

  • How to re-activate Photoshop CS2 after my hard drive was replaced

Help! My hard drive had to be replaced, and now my computer will not allow me to use my Photoshop CS2. I purchased this years ago, and have all of the verification codes. I have several things I am working on that I can't finish until I get it reactivated. Help!!

Please do a forum search on "activate cs2".  It has been discussed ad nauseam here.
Short answer:  Adobe has taken down the CS2 activation servers.  For legitimate licensees of CS2, it has posted a special version of CS2 that requires no activation but does require a new serial number, free to legitimate owners of CS2.

  • My MacBook Pro can't turn on again and apple said that the hard drive was broken. What are the chances of apple recovering my files on target disk?

Okay basically my MacBook Pro won't turn on. It has a spinning loading sign and a bar that won't complete at the bottom. Rang apple said take it into the apple shop and they will try target disk. What is that exactly and what are the chances my photos and files can be recovered. I would go to the shop but I'm on vacation. Help would be appreciated thanks.

    This defines Target Disk Mode:

Though not guaranteed, the chances are good that the data can be recovered.
    Ciao.
