How can I limit Bridge searches to just image names?

I'm new to CS5 and use Bridge a lot.
The problem I'm having is that it seems very difficult to limit the images to just the artwork I'm looking for.
When I type in almost any name, the Mac OS will bring up dozens of related files for every sort of OSX segment file.
I only want Bridge to show images.
It seems that in trying to narrow down the choices, the settings are a bit arcane.
When I create a search for document type, there are about 200 arcane sorts to weed out... with photoshop appearing about three screens down the list.
Is there any way to limit the searches to just photoshop .psd and .jpeg files?
Thanks!

Thanks!
I wonder if there is any way to save these basic search parameters, so one doesn't have to go through all that trouble for every search?
If not, I'd say Adobe really dropped the ball on this one, effectively undoing the simplicity in favor of too many bells & whistles... imho.
I find myself just going to the Mac OS finder to search file names, since the Bridge search is so arcane.
IF there was a way to save the basic search for images (as opposed to coming up with every single related name on the entire computer), that'd sure make things quicker.

  • PE10:How can I limit  a transition to just part of the video

I want to limit the page peel transition to affect the portion of the video screen that depicts a screen showing a slide presentation. The slide show does not show up on the video, so I have to overlay the screen with images from the slide show & want the transitions to affects just that part of the screen.
I can’t seem to limit the transition with a matte.

    Great news!
That is sort of like the workflow in PrPro, where one would create a Sequence (think of a mini-Project, in a Project), then edit with the desired Transition, and then Nest that Sequence into a new one, where the PiP would be created from it. In PrE, there are no Sequences, so no Nesting, but you got around that by editing in a Project, then Exporting/Sharing, to then Import into another Project. More than one way to "skin a cat."
Steve G. always has some great workflow modifications, to get most things to work in PrE. Those suggestions are always greatly appreciated.
    Good luck,

  • Can't limit "Find" command to just one folder.  Why?

I'm trying to find some .jpg files within a certain folder where there are thousands of files. So I open that folder, and enter ".jpg" in the search box. But then the name at the top of the window changes from the folder I just opened, to "Searching Mackintosh HD", in other words, it searches the entire computer.
How can I limit the search to just that one folder?

I just figured this out: When I enter the search term, it does default to "Searching Macintosh HD", but on the left side of the search window there is a little button with the name of the folder I had originally opened.
By clicking on that button, it narrows the search to just that folder.

Command + F usually does the trick.

You can't. Why on earth would you attempt to manage 2500 emails with setting up a folder structure or some means of doing so? Simply keeping them in an single inbox is not realistic, no matter what email client you use.

  • In iTunes 11.0.2.26, an Albums search by track names returns albums as if they only have one track on them, but I still want to access the entire album. How can I have the search results show the entire album (with just the searched for name highlighted)?

    Hello, all.
In iTunes 11.0.2.26, an Albums search by track names returns albums as if they only have one track on them, but I still want to access the entire album. How can I have the search results show the entire album (with just the searched for name highlighted)? For instance, I'm wanting to play an album with a particular track on it or I'm searching for albums that include that track. iTunes incorrectly assumes that all I'm after is that one track and then incorrectly displays the album as if there is only one ttrack on it. This is a bonkers default setting. Can I change this?

Click the search magnifying glass and uncheck "Search entire library".
Type in the name of the track.
Click the album of interest to show tracks.
    Select the track.
Press the X in the search box to clear the search.
Double click the track you want to start playing first.

I've just installed creative cloud 64 bit windows.  How can I make bridge the default program to upload pictures rather than lightroom?

Usually the default program associated with an image file extension is an image developing Program like Lightroom or an image editing program like Photoshop. If you want to change the default associated program to Adobe Bridge you would use Window's Controls Panel file association applet.

  • How can I limit searches to documents only, not emails?

When I do a search for documents containing a particular word, I would like it to find documents -- not emails containing that word. How can I "turn off" searching emails?

You can't. Although, the Spotlight show search results has mail and webpages listed only applies to Spotlight searches using CMD+spacebar or clicking on the Spotlight icon. At least that's what engineering responded when I filed a bug against that nonsensical behavior in Lion.
After reviewing your submission engineering has determined that the behavior you reported is as expected/designed.
The spotlight preferences set in the prefpane only apply to the spotlight menu in the menubar, not in the finder.
All I can suggest is that you File an enhancement request with Apple asking them to restore the behavior to all Spotlight-based find operations. Do note that they'll most likely not do it.

  • HT2729 I have limited space on my new ipad. How can I limit the number of songs from my itunes on my imac from going to my ipad when I connect the two?

I have limited space on my new ipad. How can I limit the number of songs from my itunes on my imac from going to my ipad when I connect the two?

you can do this by keeping the external hard drive connected and doing the following
-hold shift key down on computer while opening iTunes and a prompt will appear to choose a library
-select choose library, iTunes should bring up your explorer windows where you can search for the external HD
-after you find the external HD find the iTunes folder you just copied to it
-after opening the iTunes folder look for the file that says iTunes library.itl or if you can't see that extenstion just look for a document looking thing in the iTunes folder that shows up as a database file
-double click the database file and boom iTunes should load your library without having to copy it to the computer
PS: do make sure that if you are going to do it this way, make sure that the external HD is connected at all times, because if you don't then you will get exclamation marks next to your iTunes songs
double PS: if you are unsure how to find out if the iTunes library file is a database file just right click it and choose properties and under the type it should say database file
    hope this helps:)

  • How can I limit the number of emails retained on my ipad air?

How can I limit the number of emails that are retained on my iPad Air?  Because of legal requirements of a long-term project, I cannot permanently delete emails relating to that project from my ISP's mail server.  My gmail account contains over 17,000 emails and, upon setting up my new iPad, and updating to ios 7.1.1, I now have all 17,000+ emails taking up space.  I would like to limit the emails by count as I was able to do on my old iPad running ios 5.1.1 OR to retain them based on date range.  I have not found any instructions on the support discussions or general iPad blogs that allow me to do that.  Any way around this problem?
I also miss the 5.1.1 mail search feature that allowed me to narrow the search by from/to/subject/all.  Does anyone know if that feature is available using some little-known ios 7.1.1 feature?
    Thanks for your help.

If you have a decent mail provider like Microsoft Hotmail or Outlook.com mail it does.
If you have Gmail it does not.  Quite right. Gmail is rubbish.

My IPhone email app is connected to my Outlook email system in which I have many archieved folders, when I want to place an email in my archieved folders on my IPhone I have to scroll a long list of archieved folders to find the right one, how can I get a search bar added to find it easier? My colleague' s Samsung has that function already and can't believe that Apple can be behind Samsung on this.

You probably will not be able to get a refund. The iTunes Store makes it pretty clear that gifts are redeemable only in the same country, and the terms of sale say that all sales are final. But you can contact the iTunes Store and ask:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact.html
For future reference, you will not get responses from Apple to any question you ask in these forums. We're all just fellow users here. And you posted in a forum for questions about the Communities themselves. You usually will get the quickest and most applicable answers if you ask in the forum dedicated to the product or service about which you are asking.

due to setText method So this implies that the text comes from somewhere, maybe a database, but the user does not type the text directly into the text area.
If you define the text area with 2 rows, then the third row will not be visible, so I don't see the problem. Just don't add the text area to a scroll pane and the user will never know the third row is there.[http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z55/nwoedf/temp/error.png ]

You can set the pref <b>browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled</b> to <i>false</i> on the <b>about:config</b> page.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

For your account choose "no access" by clicking on the triangle.
    Hi a.
What ì assume John means to say is you have to block access to your "guest accounts". What John describes is what you should use for any folders and files you keep outside the Home folder of your Admin account. There's also a more advanced thingy called Access Control Lists, but I'm not going to discuss that here.
Inside your Admin account's Home folder things work a bit differently: by default, at least on my Macs, an account (even it's Administrator) doesn't have access to another accounts data except for the Public and Sites folders. All other folders are unaccessible, which is indicated by a small stop sign in the lower left corner of the folder. Exception are of course folders are that you shared on purpose through File Sharing in the System Preferences menu.
You also talk about Applications. I don't have experience with this but I believe you can create an Applications or Application/Utilities folder in your Admin account's Home folder. In this case you'll be the only one to have access to the software installed. I'm quite sure not all applications support this, and application updates might not succeed.
Which brings me to a question: you talk about "guest accounts": what is the purpose you created them? If it's just to discover the world of Mac OS X, do enable login on a Mac OS X Guest Account: good riddance of the stuff they created when they log out. If it's a bit more don't hesitate to share your thoughts. Note that these forums are in general very helpful.
