How can I start/wake a Mac without having an XServe?

Hey,
I just bought Apple Remote Desktop and I saw this cool start fuction but when I tried it, it didn't work!
Do you need a XServe for this?(I don't have one ).
If not how can I do it?

Hi
You can wake any mac from Sleep using Apple Remote Desktop. You can also invoke Sleep as well as Shutting down. What you can't do - unless it's an XServe - is boot one up that has been shut down. This feature is usually referred to as Lights Out Management or LOM for short:

Only the Intel XServes ever had this feature. No-one on these Forums will know whether Apple are going to or are ever likely to introduce LOM for the rest of their product line-up. AFAIK the recently released iMacs and MacBooks don't have this feature. One would have thought that if Apple were interested in adding LOM to their current product line-up they may have done so this time around?

Reboot your computer. Hold down the option key when you hear the chime sound. Go to the recovery partition. Re-install the operating system. It's easy and doesn't take that long (15 to 30 minutes depending on your computer). By default it does an archive and install meaning that you won't lose your files, just read the screen carefully and you'll be fine. It's not a big deal.

Otherwise, you can't. That's the ENTIRE purpose of a passcode lock.

I do not think the Zeen will work if you no longer have the C510 printer. The printer is necessary to ensure the Zeen is up to date. The Zeen is simply not a standalone device, it is a component of the printer. I can not say this with certainty that it will not work, so it is worth trying to reset the Zeen to finding out for sure.
When you see this message, "must dock the Zeen to the printer to continue", can you access the settings using the 3rd icon above the touch screen? If so we can do a factory reset, if not there is no other way I can think of to bypass this message.
I just tried a reset on a Zeen I have access to, after the initialization, it prompts me to attach the Zeen to the printer to continue with product setup. it appears my original speculation was correct. No, you can not use the Zeen without the printer.

So i bought a G3 keyboard with the power button and i just received it but my macbook still doesn't want to start up.
It's pretty strange because my macbook was still running when the top case died and I had to unplug it cause i couldn't shut it down so I was sure that buying this keyboard would make it work but it doesn't. I am wondering if it could be from the power button that would be died cause when i push it, it doesn't feel like the one on my macbook . It's pretty hard to explain but could someone tell my how it supposed to be when i push the power button . On my keyboard it just goes down and goes up without doing anything...
I'm pretty sad cause I haven't used my macbook for weeks and i'm started thinking it will never start up again ...

How can i mirror an iPad 2 without having to use a TV?

I am trying to find a way to use airplay to mirror an ipad and view on apple tv but without having to have a huge HDTV. I would liketo be able to "see" how an educator uses an ipad 2 during instruction from the back of the room. I was thinking that if you can use a portable monitor "hook up" to Apple TV I would be able to use Airplay as long as the portable monitor had an HDMI input?
Is this possible? Is there a better way?

As long as the display has an HDMI input, you should be able to connect an AppleTV 2 to it.

Is this a TV show you purchased with your own iTunes account or your friend iTunes store account? If it was your own account, simply authorize your purchased content on your friend's computer. To do this, head to the Store drop down menu in iTunes and choose Authorize This Computer. Then enter in your iTunes store credentials and then try resyncing the TV Show to your iPod.

Just figured out how to get the SD version of HD movies to play on the iPod Classic. In the iTunes Store, look at the purchased list and down at the bottom where it lists the Total: # Movies, to the right is a checkbox [ ] Download HD When Available. If you uncheck the box, it allows you to get the SD version of those HD movies from the cloud.
