How can I update an outdated itunes on a really old and outdated computer??

My desktop computer (a dell with windows) is extremely old and nothing has been updated on it in years. I can't even get on the Internet because Java is so old. The problem is, I want to transfer music from the itunes on that computer to the one on my laptop (different accounts so syncing my ipod that has the music from the desktop on it doesn't work) but to do so I need to update itunes. I've tried to update it before but nothing happened even though it said it was updated, and I think it might be because there are about 20 different updates in between where my itunes is at right now and where the latest update is and the computer can't handle that jump. All I really want it to be able to do is to burn dics since I don't want ALL the music from the desktop, but it can't even do that right now -- it goes through the whole process but the CD comes out blank. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Illogical statement. Java has nothing to do with getting the computer on the Internet.
Why do you need to update iTunes on this computer? If the goal is to merely move the media from this computer to the computer the device normally syncs with, simply copy the media to a flash or external drive them to the current comptuer the device syncs with.

Make sure the XP box is upgraded to the latest version of itunes. Also make sure it's using the itunes media folder layout as explained here, because that's what the W7 is going to be using.

Install itunes on the new W7 PC.
Get these folders from the XP machine
C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes
C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
And put them here on the W7 machine
C:\users\username\My Music\iTunes
C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

You need to delete and redownload them to do that. This may require repurchasing paid ones.

You have to delete the old account, provide the password for the ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos that are not in your camera roll, save them to your camera roll before deleting the account (open your my photo stream album, tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward facing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).

If you want, you can always download and install the latest version from Apple's website, that is essentially all the update does anyways.

I can't update my iPod classic from my iTunes on my iMac computer with OSX 10.9. It will not mount or be recognized by iTunes version 12.1.

I went thru the console and read the error logs. It appears that the .ipsw file does load.....I think. It's been years since I spoke computer....

I am constantly having issues with my itunes... trying to improve my music organization, and just making it worse. I just got itunes match and i like it so far, but I know that as soon as I am out of wifi/cellular conection, I won't be able to listen to my music. That should be modified to say There are no legitimate downloads of Mac OS software that will run with your computer.
Mac App Store downloads of 10.7, 10.8, 10.9 may be purchased directly off the Mac App Store, but they can not run on a G5, or early Intel Macs.
Now another thing to mention is, dinohhr2, you didn't say which software is included in your purchase. Some people may include 10.4.0, 10.4.3, 10.4.6

Assuming your media folder hasn't been split out to a new location you need to copy the entire iTunes folder from the <User's Music> folder on one machine into <User's Music> on the other. This might be easier to do over a network, although having a backup on a drive is a good move.
